More than anything Taylor Drake wants her life back. She’s returned to her family home, suffering from the agoraphobia that has plagued her since she was brutally attacked in her apartment. Once a confident and successful photographer, she now cowers behind closed doors with a loaded pistol, fearing her attacker will find her and finish the job. The last assignment chief deputy Adam Gillespie wants is to babysit the spoiled celebrity, Taylor. He blames her father for his family’s financial ruin; and her brother, Wil Drake, is the incumbent candidate for Foster County sheriff, Adam’s dream job. Wil is out of town, though, so Adam can’t afford to let anything happen to the sheriff’s sister, in spite of the years-old feud between the Drake and Gillespie families. Complications arise when someone murders the man Adam arrests for stalking Taylor, and Adam learns things aren’t as they first seem. Taylor is hardly a pampered prima donna, rather a warm, intelligent, yet troubled woman whom he grows to love. The two find holes in the history of the feud between their families that need filling in. Adam has to reconcile the hostilities, or any future with Taylor is doomed. But first he must stop the cunning killer who wants her dead.
Cheryl Norman lives in northeast Florida with her husband and spoiled dog Nova. Their modest home in the woods is a perfect retreat for writing romance novels and cookbooks. She blogs at hastytastymeals.com but has retired from writing.

Pictures are her life. A day without her camera seems surreal. Yet it has been months now she has not taken a picture all because of a stupid man that attacked her in her apartment. For months Taylor Drake has been trying to get her life back together and still nothing has changed. Just when she thinks she could have some peace in her life at home in enters Sheriff Adam Gillespie.
I loved that these two share a family hatred yet they are not going to succumb to the bitter feud. I felt for Taylor with this illness yet applauded her when she finally took the first step. Now Adam seems like a great and there were times when I wanted to hate him. The feud is one that is heartbreaking to see how it started yet in a way it makes sense in the book. Cheryl Norman started a series in a great way with Adam and the secondary characters from both families shows us a glimpse of whats to come. All in all it was a good book and definitely a series going to keep up with.
