It's an A-Z refrence guide of the history of human sexuality from a spiritual/artisic stand point. It reviews ancient beliefs, art, rituals, rules, expressions and how these things imacted ancient peoples lives styles. It's very insightful and rich in detail.

Encyclopedie van de erotische cultuur : verzwegen leringen uit alle culturen en tijdperken is a fabulous encyclopedia. One of the entries, for instance, is 'Succubus', of which a clear explanation is given. 'Cocaine' is another entry, to name something I didn't expect to see mentioned here. Also, explanations about 'Koka Shastra', or the Indian god 'Ganesha', or interesting info about the missionary position, or about garlic (Dutch 'knoflook'), can be found. Or an entry about the 'adrenal glands' ('bijnieren', in Dutch). Or liquorice (Dutch 'zoethout'). And so on, and so forth, as the given examples are just a few of the many, many entries.

As I said, this is a great book! Something that should really be present on everyone's bookshelves (yet there are only 14 ratings at the moment, and I had to add the Dutch edition to Goodreads...)
