Very good book on memory palaces and how to build your first one. The author literally holds your hand and leads you through one example of association, and then goes into a palace walkthrough. Midttun also gives tips on how to apply this, how many such 'places' you'll need, some for data that you want to keep and others for temporary recall.

Good intro but it doesn't deal with memorising numbers as such, although the author provides a great way to deal with playing cards. In order to remember these, each has to be associated with a person in your mind. Usually each suit is given a theme, for instance hearts for figures that are close to you (liked) and diamond for rich people, but here Midttun adds a criteria for each number too, which makes it easier in my opinion (2s for actresses, 3s for actors, etc.). Going to try it :0)

Great concepts with lots of examples

I found this book to be helpful in gaining a much better understanding of how memory palaces are used. I didn’t feel like all I was getting was hints designed to sell me something else, as some of these books are clearly geared to do. It is a delivery on the title’s promise.

The book boasts too much about giving you the information necessary to effectively use the method of loci in a concise manner, in practice being very repetitive and containing not many insights at all. The constant self-promotion does not help the general impression. Some of the advices that concern learning languages and reading books are at the very least doubtful (good luck remembering a whole chapter of a textbook or a scientific work using just one peg that should "trigger" the right sequence of memories). And somehow even I know that you are not supposed to remember foreign words using memory palaces the way that the author describes. Still, the book contains _some_ useful advices and some good ideas to work with.

Images should be: 1. Funny 2. Exaggerated 3. Violent 4.Sexual 5. Involve people 6. Involve movement
Walk through neighborhood with the cell phone to take pictures on interesting place and use them to build the memory palace
Use you child home as the memory palace
Place objects far away from each other in memory palace
When walking through memory palace, always use the same route and sequence
Have different palaces for short term and for long term memory
When learning foreign languages, use the city map to place words of different gender in different city locations
It's better to practice 5 minutes every day than 35 minutes once a week

The best to-the-point explanation of how to build a memory palace. And some additional techniques along. No unnecessary pages to "stuff" the writing and make a bigger book, but it goes to the essential. And he explains very well and quickly, without fuss, the procedures and tricks to make your memory palace useful and workable quickly. I have read many books about the subject and this one made me learn quicker and better in less than 100 pages what other books couldn't even introduce me to properly with many more pages.

This was a good read past year. It is recommended by me if you want to learn things faster than usual time they take.
With that some other books I read on mnemonics by following this blogpost https://wealagend.com/articles/best-m...
are also awesome. I think I can learn many things now like a computer.

Finally

I was waitig for someone to actually go through the process of creating the memory palace. I actually swallowed the pill and started memorizing everyone's SSN, Phone Numbers, DOBs. My ultimate goal is to memorize a book verbatim so that I can recall whenever I get board. Imagine reading Lord of the Rings yearly, but not having to open the book. Great read.

A fair explanation of this technique an examples of using it. If you know the method, and use it, this book is superfluous though may 1 or 2 fresh ideas.
