Here is a great story of a girl trying to become a pirate. The art is fantastic. The characters are fantastic. The story telling is fantastic. This is a series that from the first page gripped you and never lets you go. One of the few graphic novels that gets everything right.

Hands down, this was easily one of the most entertaining and enjoyable things I've read this year.

This is a fast-paced, not overly serious comic series of a young girl named Ariana who wants nothing more than to be a pirate on her own ship. And because of this passion, she gets into more than a bit of trouble on the high seas. Right off the bat, you know that this is going to be a great adventure, and it doesn't disappoint.

Ariana is someone you can't help but love. She's crazy and makes some rather impulsive decisions that can be frustrating, but it's also what makes her so endearing -- and also what makes us wish we could be more like: someone who takes risks and lives life to its fullest, even if it might not always go our way.

The additional characters, such as Shen Kenoshi, Mary Reed, and Finn, are all wonderful additions and only serve to make this story pop even more. I loved that it was such a diverse cast not only in appearance but also in personality. Ariana is loud, outgoing, and rash, whereas Kenoshi is more thoughtful and knows when things should be kept quiet. Finn is also on the quieter side and less sure of himself, but still a strong character in his own right who is quite charming. Another character I loved was Mary Reed, who is a wonderfully badass woman who you can't help but love for her strength and dominating force.

In addition to the wonderful characters and exciting plot were the beautiful illustrations, which I loved. There is something so easy and relaxed about them, and I found the bright, vibrant colors to add an even more pleasant addition the this adventure story. The personality of each character was rendered brilliantly, and it is obvious that Yates knows what he's doing.

This comic seems incredible age-less to me. As an adult, I love this, and I can also see teens and even younger kids enjoying this as well. I don't really know what the target audience is supposed to be for this one, but I definitely see this as appealing to any adventure-lover.

Anne Bonnie is a blast, and I cannot recommend this one enough to anyone who loves pirates, adventures, or characters that are full of personality. Overall, I'm giving Anne Bonnie five stars!

I honestly don't have the right words to express how much I loved this. Honestly! Blue Juice comics is an indie comic company and released the Anne Bonnie issues one month at a time. And for being an indie comic publisher...they really hit it out of the park! Issue one had to have 2 reprints due to the demand. And reading this collection of the first 6 issues really proved why.

A spectacular and fantastical retelling of the real life pirate Anne Bonny, they give a color filled world of orphaned Ariana. She longs for high sea adventures like the Pirate Queen of legend. Finding a ship run by magic she starts her quest and makes fast enemies of an elf princess and some mer people. Silly adventures, fun characters, and an intriguing cliff hanger that hints at a much darker second arc had me hooked.

Reader be warned though there is no volume 2. It appears there were just 3 more issues published before Blue Juice for whatever reason dropped the title. And it's a shame! How they fictionalized Mary Read and Calico Jack were fun and I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I honestly couldn't put it down. And I've stalked social media sites to try and find Tim Yates and get him to give some answers as to why this was discontinued because it truly was one of a kind.

This was fun, but despite the title, is not about any sort of Anne Bonnie you might be familiar with. Here, the Pirate Queen has been presumed dead or missing for over a decade, and in a world where there's magic and the standard sort of fantasy setting stuff, we meet a young girl named Ariana, who has the gift of farsight...but only literally as she's not much of a planner and works mostly off childish impulses. But she has an enchanted ship and a growing crew and she's off for adventure. Too bad she's angered some navy officers, another pirate, the Mer people, and the elves in the process...

I loved this comic!

The story and characters were very likable and fun. The lore and information about the world was complex without being confusing. Granted, the art was not my favorite but I am very glad I gave it a chance. The combination of magic and pirates was very well done. I hope they are planning on continuing the series.

Got this from Comic Bento.

A gorgeous book with a fun story, fun characters, rich worldbuilding, and more fun than you’d think could be crammed into it. It grabs you from the start, unveils its secrets with expert pacing, and always leaves enough mystery that you keep turning the page.

This was super fun! Loved the illustrations and the story was good, a little bit fantasy with a historical overtone.

💗The artwork was just stunning.
💗It really incapsulates the joy and dreams of a kid.
💗I really enjoyed seeing a servant boy turned to pirate. He literally the exact opposite of the historically accurate depictions of pirates, yet I didn't mind because he is one of those characters you just can't resist rooting for.
❌I thought it would be about the actual Anne Bonnie. It was personally was disappointed when it was just about an impersonator.
❌Some parts were too unrealistic. Even with magic, I don't think she would escape some of the situations she did
