The Celebrate Recovery Participant’s Guides are essential tools for the personal recovery journey. In the five lessons in Guide 2: Taking an Honest and Spiritual Inventory, you will experience an in-depth look at the 4th principle in the recovery
4 Openly examine and confess my faults to God, to myself, and to someone I trust. "Happy are the pure in heart" (Matthew 5:8).
By working through the lessons and exercises found in each of the four Participant’s Guides you will begin to experience the true peace and serenity you have been seeking, restore and develop stronger relationships with others and with God, and find freedom from life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits.
All the scriptures have been updated to the new NIV 2011 version.
A friend and I have been working through this series as a Bible study together. This book was fantastic. It really got into some hard issues and soul searching. My disclaimer with the first book was that someone should really have, not only an accountability partner, but also a supporter while working through the book (especially if your purpose for going through the book is working through recovery). This holds true, but perhaps moreso for this book.
I thought this installment hit some hard issues even more directly and required some heavy reminiscing that could trigger heavy emotions. Which is the point! But don't go it alone.
Book Two is the most in-depth book and covers the fourth principle: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust. "Happy are the pure in heart.” Matthew 5:8a TEV. And the fourth step of the twelve steps: 4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40 NIV.
Volume 2, which I’ve heard is the most difficult, is complete! Thank you Lord for Your endurance!
In step four, I made a searching and fearless moral inventory of myself, which was not easy. Digging into all the bad (and good!) from my past. Openly examining my hurts, hang-ups, and habits.
Very tough to look inward and resist all the hurts that have lead me to unhealthy habits and hang ups. This series is helping me to heal and truly feel closer to God
Skimmed through once to get the overall idea and now I have to go through it again more slowly and reflectively from the beginning and do the exercises.
It has been 4 years since I went through the CR program. It was absolutely life changing! I have felt the need for a bit of a refresher course so I'm glad the workbooks are available through Amazon. I will say though that if you haven't been through the program, you need to find a local church that runs one. It's vitally important to go through with others. This is not a solitary journey. Also, CR isn't just for people dealing with substance abuse issues. It's for ANYONE dealing with hurts, hangups or habits - which is pretty much everyone!
