Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 issues #3

Mouse Guard: Rise of the Axe

Rate this book
Saxon, Kenzie and Lieam, having abandoned the grain cart, have opted to take a lesser known path to the city of Barkstone in hopes to keep as low a profile as possible. What worries them more than knowing of a traitor, is not knowing who the traitor is. They are unaware of the information Sadie carries with her to Lockhaven, nor the fate of fellow Guard Conrad.

Arriving at the mouse city of Barkstone, Saxon, Kenzie and Lieam are forced to create a diversion to avoid watchful eyes. Kenzie and Saxon perform a duel between themselves while Lieam attempts to blend in with the townsmice. Lieam's investigation takes an unexpected twist when he uncovers The Axe, a well-organized anti-Guard group.

The story gets more complex, the characters richer, the art still spectacular.

I read these comic books (and still own them) in single issue form. I believe they are available as trades, though I cannot find any on Amazon. Which is a shame, because I think every fan of fantasy should own copies.

Mouse Guard would appeal to any fans of Lord of the Rings and the Rats of Nimh. Not to mention the art in the books is breathtaking and detailed. I'm holding on to these books with plans to pass them onto my sons once they are old enough. These books are a classic and should be in the collect of every fan of fantasy. I have my fingers crossed for a reprinting of the trade paperbacks or possible a hardback edition.
