The Montana Hamiltons by New York Times bestselling author B.J. Daniels
He's meant to protect her, but what is this cowboy keeping from her about the danger she's facing?
As the daughter of a presidential candidate, Cassidy Hamilton left the Montana family ranch to escape notoriety and live her own life. But when someone tries to abduct her off a Houston sidewalk, Cassidy finds protection in the tall, dark and sexy form of cowboy Jack Durand. The gorgeous Texan doesn't recognize her, wants nothing from her and is determined to keep her safe.
Jack hates keeping secrets from the beautiful Cassidy, but he knows more about her kidnapping attempt than he's admitting. Forced on the run, Jack and Cassidy begin piecing together a jagged family puzzle, exposing a plot years in the making--one that will either tear them apart or bring them closer together than ever.
B.J. Daniels started her life in Houston, Texas, before her family moved to Montana at age five. She grew up in a cabin in the Gallatin Canyon near Big Sky and later on Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone. Because of her love for Montana, most of her books are set there. Born into a storytelling family, all she'd ever wanted to do was write stories. After a career as an award-winning newspaper journalist, she wrote and sold 37 short stories before she finally wrote her first book, ODD MAN OUT. Since then she has won numerous awards including a career achievement award for romantic suspense. She lives in Montana with her husband, Parker, two Springer Spaniels. When she isn't writing, she quilts, boats and. makes rope/fabric baskets. She always reads, loving to lose herself in a good book.
Every single title in B.J. Daniels' Montana Hamiltons series has made me shout out OMG at the end, shake my fist and wish I had a magic looking glass into the next book to find out what is going to happen. I have even tried to bribe B.J. to no avail. I have come to the conclusion that she just loves to torture her readers.... In a good way of course, but it's torture nonetheless.
Cassidy Hamilton, youngest daughter of Presidential hopeful, Buckmaster Hamilton, has spent her life in the spotlight along with her five sisters, and she's tired of it. For a while she was traveling the world and staying off the radar, but a attempted kidnapping yanks her back into an insane reality.
When handsome Texan, Jack Durand foils the kidnapping in progress, he and Cassidy are thrown together into web of lies, deceit and intrigue that no twenty-something has any business being embroiled in. When Jack discovers that his own father and possibly Cassidy's mother are involved in not only the abduction, but also a nefarious plot against the government, survival becomes the real deal for this unlikely pair.
Being tossed together by these unbelievable circumstances, Cassidy and Jack feel the inevitable pull of their attraction for one another where they both begin to think that fate has put them together. With all the insanity going on around them all they have is the comfort they can give one another and the amazing instincts that Jack has for survival. Who can they trust? Possibly no one. And so goes yet another intriguing BJ Daniels thriller of a story.... I don't think I will keep sane until the final installment.
Ok, so this is a monster of a book with twists and turns that will have you biting you nails down to the nub, and I am seriously not kidding. B.J. Daniels is a master storyteller who keeps her readers on the very edge of their seats, especially with INTO DUST. Not only is Jack and Cassidy's tale fabulous, but my favorite couple, Nettie and Frank are knee deep in trouble too and their secondary storyline will have you gasping for air. One of my fellow respected reviewers noted that this series needs to be made into a TV mini-series and I so totally agree with her. It's just THAT good. Bravo Ms. Daniels for giving me so many gray hairs that I must dye it constantly. Yes, I am blaming you, Barb.
An FYI for all, I found out today that Barbara Johnson Heinlein/B.J. Daniels dedicated this book to me and fellow Book Obsessed Chicks member, Janet Rodman. While I am over the moon and thrilled about this, it unequivocally has no bearing on the review of this book. INTO DUST is a treat that can't be missed.
I love this series, but you really need to read it in order. There is a mystery in each book and an over-arching mystery too. Great characters, plot development and the over-arching mystery is chilling. Just a fantastic series. After letting go of my prejudice against Harlequin, I've discovered many great authors they publish and B.J. Daniels is one of my favorites. Usually shorter than a normal romantic-suspense book, her books all deliver on the romance and the suspense. Into Dust is #5 in The Montana Hamilitons series and it is just as great as the other 4.
Cassidy Hamilton is the youngest twin daughter of wealthy Republican Presidential candidate, Buckmaster Hamilton. She has often felt lost with five other sisters, a distant stepmother and a father in politics. She just wants people to see her for herself. She is saved from a kidnapping attempt by Jack Durant. who followed the would be kidnapper from a meeting the guy had with his father. Jack has no idea why his father would contract a kidnapping on this beautiful girl, but he isn't going to let it happen. Cassidy and Jack uncover evidence that her mother, Sarah, and his father, Tom, were involved in a 70's radical group, The Prophecy. As Jack and Cassidy try to evade the kidnappers and uncover who is behind everything, they find themselves falling for each other.
The over-arching mystery of the series is about Sarah Hamilton and why, after 22 years she has reappeared after everyone thought she was dead. Buck Hamilton is now running for president and is still in love with Sarah. He wants to quit the race for Sarah, but The Prophecy has other plans. Sherriff Frank Curry has some theories and he has been right about a lot of things, but this anarchist group has been operating under the radar for over two decades and they will see their plans fulfilled.
There is also a plot line that carries over from the pervious series, Beartooth, Montana. Sheriff Frank Curry had a crazy ex-wife and a daughter, Tiffany, he didn't know about. Tiffany is a born and bred psychopath and her quest for vengeance for her mother is not going to stay locked behind the walls of any institution.
This book answers some questions, but leaves a whole lot still unresolved, I generally hate cliffhangers, but.... It is four months till November and the (I hope) final book with all the answers.
Oooh-weee! This book was like an season of Days of Our Lives, or maybe Dallas. There was SO much happening - lots of continuing and interconnected storylines. I felt quite lost at times. So this is not a series that you can try to pick up in the middle like I did.
I can say that there was a clear cut hero of the book, and that was Jack Durand, rich boy rancher. Jack comes to the rescue of the heroine, Cassidy Hamilton, when a man is trying to abduct her in broad daylight. Jack is the son of a shady businessman in the import/export business. Cassidy is the youngest daughter of presidential candidate, Buckhorn Hamilton. As Jack and Cassidy go on the run, they grow closer together and end up in the sack a couple times. Nothing steamy happens - its all fade to black behind closed doors. I liked both the hero and heroine individually, but I didn't feel any chemistry between them.
I enjoyed the suspense part of the story, when our couple is actually on the run or getting caught by the bad guys. Though most of the storyline is extremely far fetched, so be prepared to suspend your belief. There is lots of "brain-wiping" and implanting false memories. One of the ongoing storylines is the reappearance of Cassidy's mother, who had disappeared for 22 years and was presumed dead. I don't know when exactly she reappeared in prior books, but I don't think her brain being wiped is a secret. At least it didn't seem like it from what I was reading. There is a connection between the Cassidy's mother, Jack's father, and this crazy anarchist group that has blended into society in preparation for their big bang. Like I said, it was far-fetched but it was somewhat interesting as well.
There is a third storyline involving Tiffany, a crazed psychopath in an asylum for the criminally insane... and a Montana sheriff and his wife. I actually liked this side plot - but I was missing all the backstory so I felt like I was reading in the dark. I didn't know the who, what, why, how or when Tiffany's story started - but I was wrapped up in the ending.
There was just A LOT going on in this book. I think it was actually a bit much for me. While I was interested in finding out how the book ended, I felt discombobulated along the way. Then the ending was totally not what I was expecting - and I felt a bit disappointed. I would say that if you expect an HEA at the end of your romance books... you will probably feel the same. Not to say the story is not going to continue into the next book, because it might. This being my first book by this author - I have no idea how the series works.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 3 stars / 1 flame. Full review posted at Bambi Unbridled.
I think I have hit a wall when it comes to this series. Up until the last 1/3 of this book I felt like I was on a treadmill and not getting anywhere with the over reaching arc plot. How many times am I going to read the same explanations and commentary? And this is the problem when an arc is spread over a number of books, at some point the reiteration becomes too much and you get the treadmill arc.
How many times is a daughter going to discover her mom was part of the The Prophecy? How many times are we going to hear about Sarah parachuting from a plane and being discovered by Russell? How many times are we going to angst with Russell's feelings over Sarah? How many times are we going to write about the mistrust of DOC (Dr. Venable) How many times are we going to go to the hospital with Frank to visit his psychotic "not" daughter? How many times are we going to hear about Frank's crows?
If you delete all the repetition from the series, it would be down at least a book, maybe 2. It's just gone on too long and it's hard to keep an interest even in the subplot of the latest daughter. This series subplots feel a little too "rinse and repeat".
Jack and Cassidy have got to be the stupidest H and h. The bad people are after you, they have a phone to get help from more bad people who you know are out there, you're heading to the Sheriff's office for help but you don't call for help and wait until they trap you again. It's not like you are unaware of the danger, you're just too stupid to get help. I really don't like when authors rely on lack of brain waves to move the plot along.
I also wasn't too thrilled with the ending. We go through all the repetition, we manage to hold on until something starts to happen, we survive a few eye rolling scenes only to rush to an ending that was summarized a bit too much.
Between the repetition, the suspension of disbelief requirements and the weird turn and rush to an ending, I didn't really enjoy too many scenes in this book. There were just too many times I rolled my eyes and set the book down to do something more enjoyable.
In regards to the series:
I know I'm in the minority, there are a lot of people who have been in love with this series. And I do want to say I actually like this author. She knows how to write and there have been moments in this series that I have really liked. However, there have not been enough of those moments. When you have an arc that crosses this many books you have to be very careful of repetition and failure to keep the plot moving. Plus there is something about the sisters being so separate in each of these stories that it adds a somewhat disjointed affect to the stories.
I'll read the next book as I have invested too much time in this series, but overall I wished I hadn't started the series as there are too many standalone books that I could have been reading and probably would have enjoyed more.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. This series should be a TV mini-series. Wow! Just, wow!
Cassidy Hamilton, youngest daughter of presidential hopeful Buckmaster Hamilton, is used to being in the limelight. But when she's targeted in a kidnapping attempt, she finds herself in a world of danger and intrigue that is completely out of her element. Thank goodness for the tall, sexy cowboy who seems to appear out of nowhere to save her. Rancher Jack Durand follows a man he saw making a questionable transaction with his father. When he sees the man attempting to abduct a beautiful young woman, he has no choice but to step in and help her. Now Jack and Cassidy are literally running for their lives and on the way uncovering family secrets that expose them to dangers that could put an end to any future they might hope to build.
Like the other books in this series, Into Dust is filled with heart pounding, adrenaline rushing moments with a rollercoaster of twists and turns. It's a story that flawlessly blends love and suspense, sensuality and danger, good and evil, and life and death. Ms. Daniels is a master at creating compelling characters and a gripping story, manipulating your emotions, and building sexual tension. Adding crime, danger, and political intrigue to the mix, she makes the perfect romantic suspense cocktail. In this latest book, the romance builds as Cassidy and Jack confront escalating jeopardy reaching a crescendo that will leave you breathless. No kidding, I was reading this well into the early morning hours and then left lying awake at that ending. OMG! That ending! You're killing me, BJ!!! A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
Exhilarating Superlative Western Romantic Suspense!
Without the cops or the feds, the two of them were on their own. And Jack had no idea what they were up against. All he knew was that he now had the assumed future president's daughter's life in his hands.
INTO DUST by BJ Daniels is a electrifying tale of gripping romantic suspense that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat throughout. As this series nears its conclusion effective with the next book, the ongoing conflicts that have progressed with each book intensify as they are all coming to a head. Thank goodness, we don't have long to wait for the final book, HONOR BOUND, as it will be hitting shelves this October!
Each of the books in this series has featured the story of one of the six daughters of presidential candidate, Buck Hamilton, who has an immense spread in Montana at the foot of the Crazy Mountains. This tale is the story of Cassidy Hamilton, one of the youngest twins, and Texas rancher Jack Durand, who are both unknowingly caught up in a political plot that has been brewing for years. The story takes place in both Texas and Montana. As with all these books, there are multiple plot lines seamlessly interwoven through-out including those involving Buck, his former wife Sarah, Sheriff Curry, Nettie, Pam's daughter Tiffany and more. Horror of horrors! Even the Sheriff's beloved crows are in danger within these pages! I have become quite attached to those crows!
While this book could be enjoyed as a stand -alone read, if that is your preference, your appreciation of the story will be exponentially increased if you have read the series in order. This series is thrilling beyond compare and I can't recommend it enough. To maximize your pleasure, do yourself a favor and read them all in order!
B.J. Daniels is one of my very favorite authors. It is a fact that she writes beyond-exciting western romantic suspense like no other! This installment answered a bunch of my questions about the Prophecy and its sleeping agents but brought to the fore a slew more! Be prepared to be assaulted by political intrigue, malevolent bad villains, and surprising twists and turns that will leave your head spinning. I screamed, steamed and swooned. INTO DUST will draw you in from the very beginning and you will not want it to end! Truly, you should run to whatever brick-and-mortar or online bookstore you use and buy the whole series now! It's a keeper!
Another very good entry into the Montana Hamiltons series. This one centers on Cassidy, one of the twin sisters who are the youngest of the family. She has been staying as far away from her father's campaign for president as she possibly can. While walking to visit friends, she is attacked and nearly kidnapped. If not for the action of a passerby, she would have been in trouble.
Jack was not exactly there by chance. While visiting his mother's grave, he had seen his father hand cash to a suspicious looking man. Worried about what his father was mixed up in, he followed the man, and was there to see him attempt to kidnap a young woman. Jack rushes in to save her, and determined to keep her safe, they go together to see if Jack can discover what his father is up to. What they find out is that Jack's dad isn't who he thought he was, and was mixed up with Cassidy's mom years ago.
As Jack and Cassidy try to evade the people who are after them, the sparks fly between them. The intensity of the danger they are in draws them closer together. I liked the support they gave each other as they learned more about what their parents were/are involved in. Their love happens quickly, but all does not go smoothly. They are captured twice, and the second time separates them for what seems like forever. Though they do come back together, because of the actions of Prophecy members, they don't remember each other. The romance part of the story felt unfinished because of it. I hope the next book gives them their HEA.
The series storyline, involving Sarah Hamilton's apparent return from the dead, continues to reveal new bits of information. More members of the group, The Prophecy, are introduced and their fanaticism exposed. There are some truly nasty people at work and it still hasn't been revealed just what their plan is. As Sarah regains some of her memories, she is more certain she wants no part of what they have planned. But because of threats to her family, she is forced to comply with their demands. It will be very interesting to see how this all works out in the end.
There was also some time spent with Sheriff Frank Curry and his wife Nettie. Frank is still dealing with the psychopathic young woman who is bent on killing him. We get more evidence of just how evil she is and her determination to have her revenge. I really thought she was going to succeed this time, but all worked out for the best.
I'm really looking forward to the next book and seeing what everyone does.
FINAL DECISION: Action packed and very intriguing romantic suspense. There is more suspense than romance, but I enjoyed this one enough to want to read more of the series. A warning that the story is not self-contained.
THE STORY: When Cassidy Hamilton, youngest daughter of potential US President, is almost kidnapped off the street, she is saved by cowboy Jack Durand. The two end up on the run trying to find out who wants Cassidy. The truth strikes close to home for both Cassidy and Jack as it appears that family might be at the heart of the danger that both are in. The conspiracy that the two tumbled into is decades old and people will kill to bring the conspiracy to fruition.
OPINION: I really liked that the book began with immediate action. The book was very focused on the suspense portion of the story. There is a romance, but I wouldn't read the book for the romance alone because the focus of the story is the mystery suspense.
The book is filled with overlapping stories and points of view which makes the book a big puzzle. I thought the book was filled with tension and drama and I worked to figure out who was being deceptive and who was honest.
The suspense story is definitely the highlight. There is a lot going on here and I think it might have been even better if I had read the other books in the series.
The romance between Jack and Cassidy was pretty predictable at first but wrapped in a very tension filled and dramatic storyline. I was completely surprised by how their romance ended up. The story is not complete here and the twist at the end might end up disappointing those looking for a pure romance. I ended up being completely enthralled by the story and definitely will be reading the next book to find out what happens.
WORTH MENTIONING: This is the first book by B.J. Daniels that I have ever read, I thought it was good and I now want to read the Montana Hamiltons series from the beginning.
CONNECTED BOOKS: INTO DUST is the fifth book in the Montana Hamiltons series. I have not read any of the other books in the series, but I was able to figure out most of what was going on. I suspect that the book would be even better if I had read the other books in the series.
Into Dust By B.J. Daniels The Hamilton saga continues. B.J. Daniels delves further into the mystery that is Sarah Hamilton. Many questions are answered, but the reader is still left wondering what Sarah’s final objective is and why The Prophecy, an anarchist group is so determined to have Buckmaster Hamilton get to the White House. Jack Durant is in Houston on business and while there, he goes to visit his mother’s grave. To his surprise, his father is there along with another man who works for him. Instead of approaching them, Jack sees his father Tom give a large envelope full of money to Ed Urhdal. Jack is suspicious and follows Ed. It seems that Ed is following a young blonde woman. Before Ed can grab the woman, Jack knocks him out. Jack then offers to help the woman escape. He soon finds out that the woman is Cassidy Hamilton, the daughter of Presidential hopeful Buck Hamilton. The question now becomes, why are they trying to kidnap Cassidy and is Tom, Jack’s father behind it? Jack wants proof of his father’s involvement and breaks into his office. There he finds a locked box containing information and ID and newspaper clippings about a Martin Wagner. Now they must hide out because their lives are in danger because they know too much. Eventually, Jack and Cassidy are captured. In order to save their children’s lives, Sarah and tom agree to let Dr. Venable “wipe their minds.” I have to say, out of all of the books in this series, this one was my favorite. I did have many of the questions I had about Sarah answered, but now I am left with a whole new set. Why is The Prophecy so determined to get a Hamilton into The White House? What exactly did Dr. Venable do to Jack and Cassidy’s minds? All of a sudden, both are interested in politics and Buck’s campaign – very Manchurian Candidate. The relationship between Jack and Cassidy is interesting. Will either remember the other after the mind wipe or will they start a brand new relationship not remembering that they already had one? There were many twists and turns in this story. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Ms Daniels gives you a little teaser of the next book at the end of Into Dust just to build up your anticipation for the net book in the series. This is not a standalone book. You must have read the other book in the series for this one to make sense. I highly recommend this book.

Jack Durand is visiting his mother’s grave when he notices something quite unexpected: his father, with whom he has a somewhat strained relationship, is there as well, however not to visit his late wife’s grave. Tom Durand is meeting with a man, Ed Urdahl, to whom he gives a lot of money. Jack makes sure he is well hidden, but then he follows Urdahl. Urdahl is watching a house, and when a young woman comes out, Urdahl grabs her and Jack goes after the assailant. Jack takes the woman along with him when he sees a van approaching; it doesn’t look good, and they hide. The woman is Cassidy Hamilton, whose father is running for President, and there are innumerable secrets that Jack and Cassidy realise they knew nothing about, and those unknowns might have them both killed…
INTO DUST is the fifth book in The Montana Hamiltons, which I didn’t know going into it, although it can easily be read as a standalone, but I will definitely be reading Honor Bound, the next instalment in the series, because I need to know what will happen next! INTO DUST is an extremely complex story with strong political undertones, and some events derive from an association made decades before. INTO DUST is utterly captivating, and so full of surprises, I never knew what was coming next. I was rather flabbergasted – but overjoyed – at the conclusion. Jack Durand is one cool dude! The romance is wonderful, built on solid ground, and unlike any I have ever seen before, and I hope with all my heart that we will see more of Jack and Cassidy in the upcoming instalments of this series.
There is a side story involving other characters, who only play a peripheral role in Jack and Cassidy’s story, and although it was heart-pounding, I’m not quite sure why it was there. As I hadn’t read the previous books, maybe that’s the reason and it was connected to events in the previous books, but still I loved that seemingly unconnected episode as well, and I was rooting madly for the characters, the good guys! And Ms. Daniels understands the workings of the psychotic mind as few authors do. I’m still not over that fantastic ending!
I binge read the first five books in B. J. Daniels' "The Montana Hamiltons" series. This title is the fifth, and I will just review the series (so far) here.
Overall, I would give these books 3.5 stars. I was caught up in the story of a woman who disappeared after the birth of twins, her fifth and sixth daughters. She reappeared twenty two years later, and the questions abound about where she was, why she disappeared, and what evil events might be portended when her husband runs for president.
Each book is about one of the daughters, her interactions (or lack thereof) with her mother and father and sisters, her meeting with the man in her life, and the ongoing suspense of what horrors might be planned by a radical group that went underground in the late 1970s.
The author's writing style is very repetitious, in my opinion, but the story is worth my time to read. This series was recommended to me by a goodreads friend, and I'm glad I read it. I will plan to read the next book, due in a few months, and I hope the frayed ends and cliff hangers will be resolved in a satisfactory manner!
B.J. Daniels latest novel, Into the Dust, is by far a stunning read. Inside this exciting read, there are sparks, danger, and intrigue. The combination is lethal when written by B.J. Daniels. Her writing is superb. I felt like I was there on the run with both the characters. The instant gut feeling to help someone in need and the fear of being attacked was very real. My heart pounded as the I continued reading the fast-paced plot. Politics makes for an interesting tale especially when one adds a rugged sexy cowboy who is more than determined to keep a high profile young woman safe. It seems many people are after her and not sure who to call, it will be up to him to keep her safe. Plus, his father might just be involved with whatever is happening to the pretty blonde he saved.
Into the Dust is complicated, dangerous, and well-written. B.J. Daniels always has a plot full of twists and fascinating characters that she dishes out to readers. What cowboy Jack and daughter of a politician, Cassidy don't know is that there are now tangled up in a huge sticky web. Parents involved in something that involves a dangerous group called the Prophecy. Danger seems to be over but it has only started. As the story continues to unfold something hot and raw flows, begins to form between Jack and Cassidy. Their desire heats up every page. But the suspense builds up...and both characters may not remember the time they spent together. Will they come out alive and remember everything or will all be for nothing? Into the Dust is definitely a must read for all. I loved every moment. Never knew what to expect. B.J. Daniels' talent is evident enough by the attachment readers will develop by the time they finish reading it. Overall, I highly recommend this brilliant novel to all.
This is the fifth book in the series and Cassidy and Jack's story. Cassidy Hamilton is the youngest of Buckmaster's children. In this book he is running for President so Cassidy has been staying away from the spotlight and drama. She hasn't been home for a year and is trying to live her own life. When she goes out to meet some friends she is almost kidnapped and would have been if Jack Durand hadn't been following the man how tried to nab her. Jack saves her only to realize now they are both on the run after he finds out that his Father was the one trying to have her kidnapped. They find out that both of their parents belonged to a radical group called The Prophecy they don't know who to trust. Cassidy's mother says they can trust her but when they are both kidnapped together they learn they can really trust no one but each other.
I am here to tell you that if you haven't read this series you really need to start now with book one. This series has intrigue, suspense, twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages of every book in the series. Oh and Hot cowboys and strong woman.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. I can't wait to read the next one in the series as I know more suspense, intrigue, and page turning plot await me.
What a tale! Suspense runs high as danger lurks around every corner. Both the backstory and the current plot were solidly built. Daniels works some really trippy and scary concepts behind it. It’s all so believable.
I love seeing Cassidy find herself as an individual rather than as simply half of a set of twins. She is such a warm individual who shines when given the chance. Jack’s strength and cunning drew me to him instantly. Combined, these two had me completely hooked. Not only were the interactions and chemistry between them real and captivating, but they were also such genuine individuals that I couldn’t get enough of their stories.
This novel is a fantastic read on its own, but I really would suggest reading the entire series for the full impact. The Sarah mystery is intensifying by leaps and bounds in this novel. Suspense and danger lay around every turn. Daniels has me on edge, dying to know what happens next and trying to figure out the endgame. It’s absolutely perfect.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Cassidy has had little to do with her family since her mother has returned from the dead. She hasn't even been home for over a year. But now that her life has been put into danger she is on the run from the organization that her mother once prescribed to. Now on the run with Jack they face thugs, horrible parents, and hypnotism. Jack has been fighting with his father since his mother died, But when he see's something he shouldn't have and saved Cassidy he manged to go on an adventure of a lifetime. To bad he wont remember any of it. This book was a good addition to the series and it managed to show a new dynamic to the organization intent on taking down the country. This book was a little more difficult for me to get into but it was still a good read. And the ending is one you would never expect. I cant wait to see what else happens and how the series comes to a conclusion. Another great read by B.J Daniels. ~A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
4.5* In to the Dust is the latest then the "The Montana Hamiltons" and I love this series. This is Cassidy Hamilton and Jack Durand's story. She's the youngest of twins and the sixth daughter of Buckmaster and Sarah Hamilton. Cassidy meets Jack Durand when he saves her from being kidnapped. This leads to secrets that are to crazy to believed. What happens next will change both their lives for ever, if they can live long enough to get to the bottom of the secrets. Cassidy and Jack have to rely on and trust each other if they are going to survive. I can not wait to read the next book Honor Bound.
Cassidy is another daughter of Buck and Sarah Hamilton. Jack Durand is part of the mystery from Sarah Hamilton's past. When they meet more of the puzzle that is Sarah is revealed. What is very different in this book is what happens to Jack and Cassidy when they start to learn the truth about Jack's father and Cassidy's mother. Look of a very different ending to their love story. I knew more about the past with this book but there is a whole lot more to be revealed. This is part of a series. It can stand alone but is much better if you read from book one.
4.5 "Love on the Run" Stars for the story and narration!
Lovers of romantic suspense titles with sexy cowboy heroes will not want to miss BJ Daniels' The Montana Hamiltons Series. Book 5 in the series, Into Dust, continues the romantic suspense and romance arc (between Buck Hamilton, now a presidential candidate, and his first wife, Sarah, and the mother of his six daughters) that spans the entire series and also introduces a potential love match between Cassidy Hamilton, one of Sarah's and Buck's daughters, and Jack Durand, the son of one of The Prophecy's (a secret revolutionary group) members that is central to the overarching suspense plot. There is also an intersecting plot involving Sheriff Frank Curry that carries over from BJ Daniels' Beartooth Montana Series.
Because the romantic suspense arc spans the entire series, however, please note that this series must be read in chronological order to understand the entire underlying plot. Additionally, given the secondary suspense plot involving Sheriff Curry, it is also helpful to have some familiarity with the Beartooth Montana Series. Also, this is not the last book in The Montana Hamiltons series (the 6th and last book was released in October of last year), so if you want the entire story, you will need to continue listening to this series. Fortunately, for audiobook lovers, Graham Winton narrates the entire series, and his pleasing cowboy appropriate voice, makes this a natural title to enjoy in audiobook format.
When Jack Durand catches his father in a clandestine meeting at his mother's gravesite (a place his father never visits) and sees money exchanging hands, he knows he has to get to the bottom of what his father is up to. Little could he imagine that it involves Cassidy Hamilton. Being the alpha cowboy gentleman that he is, however, once knowing of the danger she is facing, Jack takes it upon himself to protect Cassidy, saving her from a kidnapping attempt. However, his protection is not without its secrets as he does choose to cover up that he knows that his father is involved (even if he doesn't know why his father is involved).
Knowing that someone has tried to abduct her, Cassidy decides to put her trust in a stranger--one which she soon finds herself interested in for more than just protection. Jack comes through in his promises to help Cassidy evade danger by helping keep her under the radar for a while, but continues to hide his father's involvement. Can there possibly be a HEA in the cards once Cassidy finds out what Jack has been hiding?
Moreover, once the mystery begins to unravel and reveals a conspiracy with deeper ties than anyone can possibly imagine, the seriousness of their situation and potential threat to both characters reaches a pinnacle. Can Jack and Cassidy together use their sleuthing skills to figure out all the details, including a way out of the threat, before one or both of them is seriously hurt?
Graham Winton delivers a solid narration in Into Dust. With a natural voice that makes you envision cowboys, and strong, alpha Western heroes, Mr. Winton nails the voice of Jack and several of the other male characters in Into Dust. His narration of the female parts bares a slightly higher pitch which allows for differentiation between the females and males. Additionally, Mr. Winton's timing is appropriate for easy understanding of both the tone and mood of the scenes as well as the narrative and dialogues being shared.
All in all, Western romantic suspense lovers are in for a family saga treat (somewhat like a favorite, soap opera) involving politics, revolutionary plots, ranchers, and interesting family relationships with The Montana Hamiltons. Moreover, if you have already read the prior books in this series, Into Dust is a must listen, as this book reaches a crucial point in the underlying suspense arc of the entire series with a number of secrets regarding Sarah Hamilton finally being revealed. Now I can't wait to uncover the whole truth in Honor Bound, the conclusion to this series.
The Story continues the plot thickens as someone stalks and tries to kidnap Cassidy. With luck on her side one handsome Texan steps up to the plate saving her. They are on the run trying to work out the mystery of her mother and his father and how the two are involved. As these two hunt for answers romance comes in to play why they are being hunted down. With their lives on the line will they get the answers they are seeking or will time run out leaving them at deaths door?
Ms. Daniels knows how to spin a story that hooks you from the start with adventure, action and thrills. If you have been following this series you know Cassidy’s mother Sarah is mixed up to her pretty neck in some shady dealings. Just as Sarah’s memory is starting to return Cassidy and Jack work together to find out just how their parents are mixed up in this mess. There is danger all around with people wanting people dead, or wants them to live town and get out of their lives. But the plans have been put into motion there is no backing out even if they wanted to. Here you will find some answers to some of the questions you have been having from the first of this series. There are lots of answers but still leaves you asking some more.
I have really enjoyed this series as the mystery comes together in each new book. I love the plot that keeps the reader hanging on finding out a little more that pulls you in giving you some heart stopping moments. The characters become real as the author takes you on a trip of danger, romance, and excitement with some very thrilling and at times chilling reading. Politics can be a danger play ground as these two find out. There is a story inside the story of a sheriff and his wife where his ex is stalking them through her daughter. The beloved crows are back with a heartwarming story that really grabs your heart. Cassidy father has lost so much over many years but finally has his heart’s desire close within reach. You know the saying be careful what you wish for…that saying might just have something to do with this story as they author keeps us guessing holding out for the next book in the series. I can’t wait to find out how this all plays out.
This series holds your attention giving you excitement, from murder to wife coming back from the dead with a mission that has been planned out for many years. Thing aren’t going the way it was planned people change life mores on but one thing has stayed the same that is that a Hamiliton must become president. There are people who will kill to make this happen no matter who gets in their way. Which leaves Cassidy and Jack next on their list as they hunt them down trying to get back what was taken that could end their plans. I found myself holding my breath as the plot plays out, there were times I said no, no don’t do that you will be sorry. Sarah is starting to grow on me as her story come out it is touching and heartbreaking but I have to wonder as we find out more will she go back to her old ways or will we find things aren’t as we see them. Out of every character I think my heart goes out more to Cassidy father to is a pawn in what I think is a mad crazy group leaving us wondering just why they want him to be President and what are their plans for him. Cassidy and Jake have a wonderful romance you will be very surprised how this all plays out. I am holding my breath as I pick up the next book in this series wondering what will happen to this family and they ones they love.
If you are looking for a thrilling, adventure along with lots of romance for 6 sisters and their parents you will want to read this series. It is so much more than a romance as a family that lost everything trying to do the best they can over many years only to have what they have built torn down when their mother returns from the dead with a mission in play that could leave many dead and lives destroyed all because of one group that came together in the 70’s that wanted to make a difference but really just seems out to destroy the country they love. *** Book Obsessed Chicks Review

Forced on the run, Jack and Cassidy begin piecing together a jagged family puzzle, exposing a plot years in the making—one that will either tear them apart or bring them closer together than ever.
With leads the are strong, independent and loyal to those they love. Jack and Cassidy both have learned to hide their true selves from the outside world, but to survive they must learn to trust one another or they may not live to work past the secrets that are revealed to find their happily ever after.
This is the fifth book in the series and I would recommend to read the series from the beginning to completely understand where the characters come together and their back histories. Fall in love with the Hamiltons and come back often to visit often.
Another twist in the series of the Montana Hamiltons, this one is for Cassidy who is rescued during an attempted kidnapping by the handsome Jack Durand. Jack has no idea if what he saw was true or not could his father really have paid Ed to kidnap this beautiful woman... none less the daughter or the thought to be next president of the states. Now with hitmen on their trail they must figure out what is going on and how to stop this whole thing. If you like mystery and suspense I highly suggest this series, unfortunately this book in the series does leave you hanging more than the other it's like the cliff hanger in your favorite movie series it leads you up to the edge and ~to be continued... Can't wait to get the last book Honor Bound and read it!
I'm not sure what to think of this book. People can get very weird idea's about what to write about, and this book is in this catagory. Apparently. she's writing about a group of people who call themselves "The Prophecy" and they are a group that bombed buildings in the '60,s and '70's then sort of disappeared from society to suddenly regroup in our present time. Just up to more mischief. Unfortunately it has another book, called Honor Bound before I can give a real answer to how I feel about it. Stay tuned.........
Loved this! I can't believe the way the author left the ending. I just know I have the next book around her somewhere. This is such a great romantic suspense series. The fact that it's set in Houston made me love it even more. This is Cassidy Hamilton and Jack Durand's book. There are multiple plots interwoven in these books that you'll just love. I need more. Must find next book!
BJ Daniels knows how to keep you interested and guessing the outcome of what happens next and who is causing the issues. I would tell anyone who wants to listen and who likes a great story with good characters about this book as well as all her others. Thanks for taking time to read my review.
Into Dust the fifth book in The Montana Hamiltons series by B.J. Daniels. Another powerful book. Lots of plots and twist in the story. Didn't expect the ending to be the way it was. Looking forward to book six in the series.
Stumbled on this book while searching for The Book of Dust at the library. Read it without realising it is a series... I am still reeling from the very abrupt ending. The only consolation is... the story continues.
Each book in the series brings you a little closer to the truth about Sarah Hamilton and her past. I can't wait to find the first one before I read the rest of the series. This is a great series of romance and intrigue. I would highly recommend it.
OMG!!! Things are getting intense. Poor Cassidy and Jack. They are unaware they are pawns. What can happen next? Things are coming to a head. The next and last book should reveal a lot. It should also be very, very interesting.
