About the author

Eric Gordon Hill OBE was a popular author and illustrator of children's picture books, best known for his character Spot the Dog. His works have been widely praised for their contributions to child literacy. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours.

Totally couldn't help reading this when it got returned at work today. It's so short and sweet. I used to adore Spot as a little one :3

The way Spot loves is how I wish to love: completely, with childlike wonder, and unconditionally. These short board books make me long for a time spent listening to bedtime stories and kisses goodnight, but that time hardly existed for me. Although my love for my grandma (and my blood family in general) is complicated, this book made me think of her. I think my inner child needs a hug again.

Ella loves the Spot books by Eric Hill. Especially after we saw him on Mister Rogers. These books are so much better than the "Biscuit" books, but they are also for younger children-usually as board books. Many Spot books are lift-the-flap, but this one and "Spot loves His..." (Mommy or Daddy) are not.

Another cute Spot book. Spot visits his Grandma for the day and has fun with various activities. Like all of the Spot family books, it ends with a story and an "I love you". Great for reading to little ones who need a quiet break or a short story before sleep.
