She enjoys amateur photography, traveling, and music…it’s a bonus when she can combine all three. Jennifer is also a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed in 2017 and declared cancer-free in 2018. She independently published her debut novel, Our Moon (JACT 1), in June 2015.

This is such a wonderful read. It is a very sweet romantic book and I was pulling for Decker and Casey's HEA the whole time. There are some twists, heartache and parts that that had me holding my breath and tears! I love that Decker is so devoted and wants to fix and move past any issues that happened in the past. There were times I wanted to shake Casey, I mean come on Decker is perfect for her! They are perfect for each other. I really enjoyed the storyline and getting to know both Casey and Decker. Maybe we can get Kate and Jay's story next?!

The beginning of this story was promising. I liked how the author didn't fill a lot of pages with the past and that there aren't too many flashbacks to the past. I find that, if not written well, books that flip between past and present are too disruptive to the flow of the story and have a hard time keeping my attention. Once we arrive at the present, however, we have some pretty OTT situations and dialogues. I didn't enjoy the narrative style of this book and found the first person pov, esp. that of the h, to be pretty annoying. Overall, this was a nice read that left a lot to be desired. I wish that this story was more fleshed out, with more plot and character development, less telling and more showing. I wanted to like it so much more as this story of first love was just so sweet.
What I liked:
1) The dual povs.
2) Not too much time telling the past part of the MCs' story.
3) No ow/om drama. No cheating or using anyone else to make the other person jealous.
4) The H. Even though he was an insensitive idiot in the past, he was also a teenager. He was obviously very selfish and oblivious to what was going on around him, but the h didn't help things either with her insecurities. In the end, though, I thought that he redeemed himself. I also liked that he didn't sleep around, but he saved himself for his best friend. That is so unheard of in YA. Usually, the H comes from "the wrong side of the tracks" and sleeps around as a way to escape that. Then the virgin h gives herself to him one fateful night. Not so with this story. This is such a sweet story of best friends who wait for each other.
5) The message of forgiveness and not dwelling in the past is nice.
What I didn't like:
1) The h. With her insecurities, I found it very hard to relate to her or like her. While the H wasn't blameless with what happened b/w them in the past, what the h did, just running away, was really dumb too. This story is really about two best friends turned lovers who were really immature and dumb. Since I don't like reading YA for this reason, I would have avoided this book had I known that so much of the drama in this book was tied to what happened b/w two teenagers. Add to that all her crying and I just couldn't take her anymore.

All I can say is WOW. This book took me by complete surprise. Casey and Decker have been friends since they were six years old. Casey is smart, sweet, and caring. Decker is handsome, popular, and plays baseball. In high school Casey only had one other friend Jane. Girls said mean things to her because they were jealous of how much time she spent with Decker and guys figured she must be good in bed because she wasn’t much to look at for Decker to spend so much time with her. She never told him because she knew what he would do. They took their relationship to the next level during their senior year. Decker never brought their relationship public or told his friends. Deep down Casey knew that he cared about her but with everyone saying those things about her and Decker never inviting her to spend time with his friends or to tell them that they had something together caused her to question things. Then after graduation Casey just up and left for college. She didn’t tell Decker that she was going or where she was going. Decker was hurt when he found out she left and kept things from him. Then three years later Casey comes because of her father’s death. Decker is rocked by her appearance; the one weekend he comes home to surprise his parents she dares to show up. When he goes to confront her he finds her crying and all his anger disappears. He finds out why she is home and is determined to not waste this second chance; they are going to talk and straighten things out. Then Casey gets scared because there are others things she has kept from Decker over the years and she doesn’t want to tell him about them so she tells him she is going back to California. What she doesn’t expect is for Decker to follow her back there. He is determined to prove her that he cares about her and to set things straight. He won’t let this second chance go to waste. Decker is about to find some important things out. He may not get the second chance he is thinking of with Casey. Will Casey cave and tell him everything that she has been going through? Will she give them a chance at a real future together? If you are a crier you will need tissues for this book. This is the first book I have read by Jennifer and I wasn’t completely sure what to expect. This book took a turn I didn’t see coming and I loved it. The characters are wonderful and pull you into the story. The book is wonderfully written. I like books about second chances, who doesn’t? This book has depth and engaging character. I look forward to reading more books by Jennifer L. Allen in the future. I would love to read a book about Casey friend and roommate Kate and the guy Jay she meets in this book. They seemed like they would have an interesting story.

I am amazed by this book. Why? It totally took me by surprised. By the time I realized where this book was headed I was hooked, line and sinker hooked. I totally identified with Casey and what she went through in high school. After graduation . . . I could not understand why she was so fatalistic and was pushing away the very people she loved, especially Decker her "since forever and 15 years old" best friend. She had fallen in love with him, although, she did not fully understand that fact. She knew what she wanted from Decker the entire senior year in high school, but he didn't. She had low self-esteem and he, well, he was the baseball star and had the beautiful 'mean girls' falling all over him. He was revelling in his superstar status and needed his best friend to experience it with her, never once did he see something more. Neither could explain how they felt so Casey cut her best friend loose and went to Stanford in California determined to leave him. She never told him she was leaving, never said goodbye. He was hurt and never understood why she would do that, she was his best friend. He needed her every single day.
Told in Casey and Derek's point of views alternately, we see the logic, or the misunderstanding they both had for each other. And oh my when her reason became clear later in the book, I was crying for both of them and for Casey's mom. That is all I will say because to say more will take away from your experience except that I was crying happy tears at the end. I highly recommend this book and wish I had had their kind of love.

Change of Heart is my first book by Jennifer Allen and I look forward to reading more from her!
This is a stand alone book but the story does leave just enough mystery of some characters to want another book set in this world.
Get your tissue ready because oh yes there will be tears.
This story follows Casey and Decker. When Decker moves into the house across the street from Casey at the age of six he knew they were going to be best friends...her not so much! We see them at the beginning of senior year and again at graduation but then the story jumps to 3 years later.
A lot can happen in 3 years but real love can last that test of time even if you have not seen them for its entirety. Casey has come home due to a family death and Decker just by chance. When he sees her car in the drive way he knows he is going to confront her for leaving all those years ago with out a goodbye. He finds her crying and falls right back into the best friend role. Casey seems to run though when things get serious. Decker has no intentions of letting her go far this time. When he finds out she is sick things take a turn for the worst!
This was a beautifully written second chance love story! I was pulling for Decker the whole way. There was times when I wanted to yell at Casey for being dumb though. All the signs were there. Are girls really this blind to boys intentions in real life? It happens so often in books... anyways. 5 amazing stars!!

This book blew me away.... I was hooked from the beginning to the end. There were so many times I was crying and even holding my breathe to see what happened next. This author really made you feel everything the characters did, you felt them during the happy times but you felt the tears and heartache when they had them. Casey and Decker are wonderful together. Yes Casey held on to some pretty big secrets including one that could have killed her if she didn't do something about it.
Casey and Decker were best friends from the age of 6, but as high school hit, it grew into something more and before they knew what happened Casey was gone. Casey, even though she had Decker, she still felt like his dirty little secret and was harassed by his friends on a daily basis. Decker, clueless to all this, soon found out and let his friends have it. Casey is hesitant to let Decker in but after he makes the trip to Cali to prove himself to her. She lets in but still holds one more HUGE secret from him. I won't say anymore to that, you need to read the book. This book brings so many emotions so make sure you have a box of tissues handy while reading it. The last few chapters will have you holding your breathe hoping for the best until you turn the chapter... It almost made more tears coming. This book was incredible to read.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The characters pulled at every heartstring.......
Casey is the typical book nerd, and Decker is not. He is the complete opposite. Ever since that fateful day when Decker showed up insisting they would be best friends Casey and he were inseparable. Even after all their years together, Casey feels she cant possibly break his heart and tell him shes leaving for college. In this lies my only issue with this story.I find it hard to believe that after all those years together, 12 to be exact, that Casey would just flee her home and abandon Decker.
Decker is of course completely broken after he discovers Casey has fled without so much as a good bye. How did she not tell him she was leaving? What could have possibly happened that she could do that to them? To Him? I have to be honest I was waiting to find out his best friend had taken advantage of her or something. Aside from that I just couldnt not have asked for a better story!
When Casey has a crisis (no spoilers here) she rushes home heart broken. After 3 years away, she just cant take the heart break and finds comfort in her family and home.

You know you have a great book to look forward to when it starts out with a flashback fifteen years ago when a little boy moves in across the street from a little girl and he informs her that they are going to be best friends and she replies with “No way! Boys are gross!” because the little 6 year old girl believed “boys were mean, dirty, and disgusting.”
Casey Evans puts up with a lot in school, first because she has her AP classes and is considered a nerd and second because she's best friends with the most popular guy in school. She's a good girl, with wonderful supportive parents, lives in Charleston, SC and loves it. Starting her senior year of high school knowing she most likely has Valedictorian locked up. She has big plans after she graduates, plans that scare her because she's afraid she will lose her best friend, especially since she hasn't even told him yet.
Decker Abrams has received a baseball scholarship to the University of South Carolina. Him and Casey have been best friends for fifteen years, and he would do anything for her. Also has wonderful supportive parents and seems to have it all figured out. Until one day his best friend just leaves with no goodbye or explanation of any kind.
Casey and Decker had become best friends with benefits, problem is Casey was in love with Decker, and him always saying “you're my best friend” was like a punch in the chest. When she disappears right after graduation it doesn't take long for Decker to realize he never even asked what her plans were after high school, but he is still angry, confused and hurt and can't figure out why she would just leave without even saying good bye.
Casey spends the next three years working towards her degree in Psychology at Stanford in California barely ever coming home and with no communication what's so ever with Decker. When she receives a devastating phone call she knows she has no choice but to go home. With so many questions that have no answers can Decker and Casey find their way back to the friendship they once had, or will a secret tear them even further apart? When Casey runs back to California yet again, how will she react when she realizes Decker has followed her and is determined to fight for their friendship. With so many issues between them will these two be able to finally admit to each other their true feelings before it's too late, or will Decker lose her forever?
I loved this book, it was sweet, sad, frustrating, and sometimes funny. I was so mad at each of them at one point or another but couldn't help pulling for them at the same time. I can't wait to read the next book in this story about Kate who was Casey’s roommate and closest friend while in California. This story flowed really well, and built these characters like you knew them personally. I highly recommend this book!

The story Change of Heart (Second Chances Book 1) by Jennifer L. Allen is a new adult/contemporary romance book. This is the amazing story of Casey Evans and Decker Abrams. They have been friends since the age of six. Then after high school, Casey suddenly leaves. This leaves Decker with a lot of questions, the most important one is why? Now Casey and Decker have been reunited. Will Decker finally get the answer to his questions? These two friends once had deep feelings for each other, could they finally become something more than best friends?
This is an amazing love story that had me under its spell. I read it very quickly as I couldn’t put it down for very long. I loved the storyline and the characters. It starts out with Casey and Decker’s first meeting when they are six and advances from there. When they are in high school I could tell that they like each other however there seemed to be something that was bothering Casey and Decker didn’t seem to realize that his best friend may be hurting. Casey then leaves without telling Decker and that leaves him alone and not knowing what has happened. I believe that a lot of the hurt Casey is feeling could have been avoided by just communicating with Decker and not letting her emotions fester inside of her. She believes the best thing to do is to just leave. When they meet again they both still feel hurt however now you find out there is a secret that Casey has been keeping while she was away. Will Casey tell Decker her secret?
Decker is a man that has gone through some life changes since Casey left. While he is upset at her when they meet again he quickly finds out the reason Casey has come home and is supportive and there for her. Then Casey runs again. This time Decker is determined to get his friend back and follows her. He is a man on a mission. Will Decker finally be able to get Casey to open up to him? This story was very emotional for me. Casey and Decker are so perfect for each other and I wanted them to become not just best friends, but the couple that I knew they should be. I found myself stating out loud what I thought should happen next. This is a story that teaches the importance of being honest with those you love and always communicating with them. This is the first book in the series and I can’t wait to read the next story. Read this book to find out if Casey and Decker get their HEA!

Oh. My. Gosh my emotions. Change of Heart by Jennifer L. Allen is book one of the Second Chance series. This story is a back and forth novel between two best friends starting when they first met, fast forwarding the their first day of high school, graduation and the end of their last summer. Throughout all that time, the pair have become closer and have become friends with benefits.
Casey Evans was what most people would call the smart nerdy girl. The one who did not get along with the popular crowd and was more interested in her studies than in boys. Even her parents wanted her to try to get in trouble. Even though she was never one to lie and keep secrets, she kept a big one from one of the most important people in her life. She up and left for college one day on the other side of the country, leaving behind a green eyed red head who loved her more than anything.
Decker Abrams is one of the most popular boys in school. A huge baseball star who has a full ride scholarship to The University of South Carolina come graduation. After moving across he street from Casey when they were both just six years old he knew he wanted to be her friend forever. After some complications of their friends with benefits ordeal, he is left wondering what he did wrong that the girl he'd been friends with for twelve years just up and left.
Three years later, the pair are reunited and even though both harbor anger toward the other they realize they need to talk and figure everything out. Will he get his answers as to why she left? Will she be able to trust him with her secret? Will they become more than just friends?
Holy wow oh wow. Jennifer certainly knows how to keep you reading! I was flying through this book trying to figure out how it ended. It definitely kept me on my toes as there was a lot that I didn't guess. Always changing it up which was fantastic! I couldn't figure out the ending and I won't like I cried when I started that last chapter, thanks Jennifer *side glance.* But really this was a great book and I am excited to read about Kate in the next one!

Holy wow oh wow. Jennifer certainly knows how to keep you reading! I was flying through this book trying to figure out how it ended. It definitely kept me on my toes as there was a lot that I didn't guess. Always changing it up which was fantastic! I couldn't figure out the ending and I won't like I cried when I started that last chapter, thanks Jennifer *side glance.* But really this was a great book and I am excited to read about Kate in the next one!

Change of Heart by Jennifer L. Allen is the first book in her Second Chances series and it’s simply beautiful! It’s a story about two people who are polar opposites defying the odds with a life long friendship. I absolutely loved this romance read but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, I definitely read it with tears in my eyes for a good portion. Decker and Casey have an inspirational love story, one that I won’t forget.
“My home is wherever you are.”
Casey and Decker met when they were little kids; while Casey didn’t want to be friends with a boy she eventually accepted that Decker was right and that they would be best friends forever. They remained best friends for all of their school years even though they didn’t have much in common. The biggest thing they did have in common was their love for one another. But after graduation their relationship becomes strained, and Casey leaves for university without so much as a goodbye. Now years later they are reunited after she comes back home due to a family emergency. Now that she’s back Decker won’t let her leave without an explanation but Casey remains tightlipped. Will he able to get answers before she leaves to go back to school or will Casey pull another disappearing act before he gets a chance?
I felt so emotional while reading this book. The characters were easy to connect with which made it easier to read, and I love a good love story. Jennifer’s writing flows perfectly giving the right amount of background knowledge. I will say that I was surprised many times; when I thought I had it all figured out I turned out to be wrong. And I definitely don’t mind being wrong when it comes to books because this one is not predictable. I can’t wait to continue this series with book 2 Right Place, Right Time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone willing to shed a few tears while reading their next romance read.

Casey Evans and Decker Abrams have been best friends since the ripe age of six. When Casey moved into Decker’s neighborhood he told her instantly that they would be best friends and they never looked back. All through highschool Casey and Decker kept to their word as best friends, but they couldn’t be less alike if they tried. Decker was the all-American hunky boy with lots of friends and Casey was the “plain Jane” who was really good at academics and not so much at the socializing. Their differences didn’t stop them from staying together through it all and even pushing their level of friendship in the privacy of their own homes. Decker can sense something is going on with Casey but decides to give her space to talk about it when she is ready. However, one week after she stops answering her phone and her car is gone, Decker learns from her mom that Casey has left and moved all the way across the country to go to College. She left him without a goodbye or explanation, and to pick up the pieces of their broken bond.
Three years later, Casey is brought home during heartbreaking circumstances and is terrified to face the blue-eyed boy that she left behind. Decker just happens to be home from an off weekend of his college baseball schedule and is floored to see his ex-best friend back in town after so long. After a rough few first days of Casey trying to push away and Decker making it very clear he is never leaving again, Casey slowly beings to let Decker back into her heart when she realizes that life is just too short. After everything is going well, Casey’s secret comes crashing into their lives and she is forced to come to terms with all of the things that happened in the past and confess everything that is going on to her best friend. Some things, in Casey’s eyes, are unforgiveable and believes that Decker will never get over them and leave her for good once he finds out. Decker is faced with anger and betrayal once he learns all that happens and has to decide if his love for Casey is worth forgiving everything or if that past should stay where it was and move on.
This story was so much more than I thought it was going to be. I highlighted so many quotes in this book that gave me all of the feels, but unfortunately were a bit too “spoilery” for this review. Decker and Casey are the ultimate love story of the girl and boy next door, but the twists and turns thrown in by Allen were heartbreaking and emotional, keeping the story relatable and true. Allen has a way of writing her stories where she can continue the story line without giving all of the information out or withholding something as simple as a name. You will find yourself screaming “what is it!” or “WHO IS IT” in many parts in this book, but it was all worth the wait. The sub character of Casey’s best friend Kate was fantastic and is everything I look for in a friend. There is a very strong family dynamic as well and I found myself falling more and more in love with the story every page. I highly recommend this read to anyone who loves a good angsty romance and I cannot wait to read the companion novel about Kate and Jay.

Change of Heart Book 1 in the Second Chance Series by Jennifer L. Allen – 5 stars
This is the first book I’ve read by Jennifer L. Allen and I enjoyed it very much.
The story of Casey and Decker began a long long time ago when they met as 6 year olds. Their friendship continues down a somewhat traditional path of best friends when suddenly it changes. Some decisions are made hastily while others were well thought out and planned. After spending all their formative years together, Casey and Decker are separated only to reunite again 3 years later.
Change of Heart took me on an emotional roller coaster of a ride. In the traditional sense of how roller coaster rides are, this book started out easy breezy coasting along making me feel pretty secure in how the story is going to go. Then the story takes you up that slow steep hill where you are looking around at all the pretty views, knowing that any second now you are going to crest the top and the story will continue in the typical way. And while you panic slightly, you just know you are going to be safe that it’s all going to be as it should. When SUDDENLY the roller coaster turns into one of those loop de loop with all the spins type and you are breathless and hanging on for dear life because this was so unexpected that you are just hoping it turns out ok and while you cry and feel anxious, you soldier on because you hope that in the end you will be safe.
THAT’S how Change of Heart felt for me. Jennifer L. Allen took me for a good ride. I read this book front to back in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down.

I was hooked while reading the dedication page~I can't say that's ever happened before. It had me cracking up! I knew I was going to love Jennifer's sense of humor and sense of loyalty/family. This book had me smiling, laughing, frustrated, hopeful, heartbroken and tugged so hard on my heart. Grab your tissues...if you're like me you'll need them. A few times while reading I had to stop and take a breath unsure of how Jennifer would take the story. I wanted a HEA and just wasn't sure where she'd take me on this emotional rollercoaster.
This book has so much depth and shows strength, selflessness (which was really selfish...you'll understand after reading), loyalty, friendship and second chances (not the kind you normally would think of).

So when Casey leaves their hometown in South Carolina for the west coast, and doesn't tell Decker why she left or where she went, he is hurt and angry about it.
Flash forward three years and the two are reunited and it brings back old feelings, and not all of them good. Casey is hiding something huge from Decker, and she's nervous for when he finds out. Decker isn't ready to lose Casey again. He'll do anything to keep her and save their friendship. So he follows her back to California. But what happens when Decker finds out Casey's secret? Can their friendship be saved? Can they have anything more?
This book was absolutely amazing! I loved the characters and story line! Jennifer L. Allen was able to create an amazing start to the series, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!

I really enjoyed this book! There was so much emotion and history between the two main characters, and then there was some misunderstandings and tragedies thrown in. It made for a book that was nearly impossible to put down. I'm a sucker for Second Chance romances and I love even more that this was a childhood friends who grew into love situation.
I knew something was up with Casey most of the way through the book, but I wasn't expecting what it was or the implications it would have on Decker when he found out. The book got through the issues in a believable way and wrapped up very nicely in the end without feeling too rushed. There is a second book, but it follows another couple from the book, not Casey and Decker, so you can read this one knowing that you will be satisfied with their ending.

I loved Casey and Decker and found this book incredibly easy to dive right into. The layers of emotion and drama held me rapt throughout.
The more I read of Decker, the more enamored I became with him. What a total hottie sweetheart.
When the details of Casey's secret were revealed, it was all I could do to not start crying. (And it takes a LOT for a book to make me cry.) The love, hope, and fear pouring from the pages had my complete attention. I couldn't put the book down from that point on and had to read straight through to the end, which was written in such a way that held my full attention.

Sweet and emotional read. I enjoyed their story, growing up together and being best friends. What they do to protect one another ends up hurting the other. They finally have a second chance to make amends and it is a rough road for them. Great read.

Starting out this book with a 15-yars ago prologue is so much fun. Watching Casey in elementary school meet Decker for the first time after her best friend's family moves out of the home across the street and his moves in is a hoot. Decker chases Casey that day that they meet. What he says to her is so fun to read. It sets the tone for the book! This book is full of highs and lows. It's full of protector mode from Decker and bullies in the form of the other students in High School. What is the nature of Decker and Casey's relationship, such as it is? You're going to have to read this really cute romance book and just make sure you have tissues handy because there were parts in the book that I lost it. With the death of a parent, being less than a year since I lost my own father, really hit home for me. I understood what the character was going through. Read it. Enjoy it! I did!!!

Admittedly, I fell in love with Ms. Allen's Our Moon, and had anxiously awaited her next release. Change of Heart definitely does not disappoint as a sophmore effort, or as any book in any author's catalog!
Jennifer is an amazing storyteller. She does an excellent job of building characters that you manage to fall in love with while they retain plenty of mystery and intrigue, along with secrets they are keeping from each other, as well as from you as a reader. Her knack for keeping the reader on the edge of their seats is growing by leaps and bounds, making this an almost impossible to put down book. I know I read it in one sitting, and feel you will be intrigued enough to do so as well.
Have your tissues ready - if this doesn't bring a tear or two to your eyes, I have to wonder about the state of your heart. I'm not known to cry at books, but there were several places an odd bit of moisture welled up within my eyes.
I highly recommend this book to those of upper YA age and older. There is a bit of sex , but not particularly explicit, and not in ambundance. There is a lovely coming of age story with plenty of drama mixed in with best friends realizing that the best and purest loves are based on epic friendships first. Ms. Allen also does a wonderful job of portraying the anxieties of teenage girls and the cluelessness of teenage boys. There is a scene that is sheer perfection even to this jaded old lady that I can't share for fear of falling into spoiler territory, but it is one of the best and most romantic scenes of its kind that I have read in a very long time. The major dramas and heartbreaks, though thankfully I have not experienced the big one first hand, seem very realistic, and are told, as the entire book is, with lots of heart and compassion.

With books like her first two, I am very much looking forward to being able to say, yeah, I reviewed her first book shortly after it came out and I knew then that she had a huge future ahead of her. Jennifer Allen has set the bar very high with Change of Heart. I was completely captivated by Casey and Decker’s second chance story. Within minutes of opening up the first chapter I was hooked.
In typical fashion, I have a hard time resisting a best friends to lover romance. Something about those always get me. So I knew, just by going off the synopsis that I was going to like this story. However, what I didn’t expect was to be on pins and needles waiting to see if this second chance love story would work out the way I wanted it to work. At times, Allen literally had me holding my breath! With each sigh of relief, I’d dive further into this story and fall further in love with Casey and Decker.
Their story isn’t an easy one. Each facing their own battles, they’ve struggled for the last three years. Peace doesn’t come easily to them as they each live their separate lives too stubborn to admit what they had and how special it was. Decker passes time on the baseball field and Casey avoids home at all costs knowing the moment she sees Decker, her resolve will come crashing down. I love that Allen told this story in dual POV’s. Seeing the viewpoints of Casey and Decker helped you understand these two, their misguided love story and hope for the resolution of their story. It helped you see the growth of the characters as well as the love these two have always had for each other.
Change of Heart was such an amazing unexpected find! Allen has written a wonderful story that has me instantly adding her others to my TBR. Allen has proved to us that she can weave an exceptional story and I look forward to reading her in the future.
Jennifer Allen has set the bar very high with Change of Heart. I was completely captivated by Casey and Decker’s second chance story. Within minutes of opening up the first chapter I was hooked.

What an adorable prologue! Decker moves into his new house at a young age; he looks out the window to see a young girl playing outside and asks his mom, "momma, is that an angel?" Beginning of senior year and they are best friends even though Casey was adamant when she was six and met him they wouldn't be. Even though Casey and Decker are the best of friends throughout school Casey is constantly talked about because she is the "nerd & smart" girl and Decker is the most popular guy. Then Casey decides to leave after graduating without telling Decker; leaving Decker hurt and confused.
Several years have passed once Casey arrives back home with a broken heart and having to deal with an unexpected loss to only find that Decker falls right back into being her best friend by staying by her side while she deals with the pain. Eventually things come out and feelings are told between the two; reading the relationship and the love these two have is something special. The constant support and unwavering love that Decker as for Casey makes my heart melt.
Ever read a book where you think it's one thing but it's not that thing it's something so much worse so you think and you wish it was the first thing that you thought it was but it wasn't ... yeah that's my thoughts exactly. Well what can I say. I loved this book from start to finish, they way Jennifer has written this sucks you in and you can't put it down.
Anna and Ryan's story is one that a number of people will be able to relate too.
Anna had the world at her feet the perfect boyfriend and her dream of going to art school. That all change one frightful day.
Ryan new where his live was headed and Anna was a big part of it he was joining the Navy after his senior year but thanks to that frightful day that changed.
With what Anna witnessed she suffered PTSD and fled her home town. She left everything behind because she was carrying so much guilt.
Anna was lost and alone until Ryan spotted her one night. They talked and she had told him she wanted to go home but was afraid. Ryan made that happen for Anna.
Anna has worked hard to become herself again, it took her awhile but she had the support of her family and Ryan even when he deployed for the Navy. Anna got her dream and was on her way to art school.
But Ryan is hiding a secret will this secret tear them apart before they even start the next step in their friendship.
You will just need to pick this one up and read it to see if Anna and Ryan actually get their happily ever after. I know I loved they way this ends an I know you will too. It's a must read.

This is my first book of Jennifer's and I can say without a doubt it will not be my last!! I was absolutely blown away! I actually had to gather my thoughts and emotions to be able to sit down and write a review that I felt did this read justice!!
Once I read the blurb I was hooked, I am huge fan of friends since they are were kids and watch it develop into more!! Casey and Decker immediately stole my heart and what a ride they took it it on. It was a story filled with so much, an unbelievable friendship, a beautiful story of love and pain! The emotions I was put through while reading would put any roller-coaster to shame! There were times I had a huge grin and laughing, times where I wanted to throw my kindle, and then those heartbreaking moments were I had to read through my tears!!
Jennifer wrote a beautiful, superb story about love and pain, and having to fight so many odds and different turns in the road!!! It was a story that I know I will not be forgetting anytime soon!! Everything worked, from the characters to the storyline.
I would without a doubt 100% recommend this amazing book!! In some ways I feel greedy because I did not want the story to end and I am dying for more. Especially more from Kate and Jay...hint hint!! I can not wait for what Jennifer has to come next, I will eagerly be waiting!!

I was given an advance copy for an honest review. (I always find saying this to be funny because I will ALWAYS give an honest review).
This story follows two young kids Casey and Decker, becoming best friends at the age of 6 who remain in each other's lives until college. But that's just the lining of this beautiful story. Casey and Decker have all their firsts with each other, but nothing would set them up for the challenges and trials they are going to have and probably not together. Could love cause you sacrifice your own happiness to save the person you love from complete are utter devastation? Could love save you from yourself?
The author Jennifer L. Allen draws you into this story with such ease that you immediately become attached to the characters. I giggled, got angry and even cried; my heart soaring and breaking right along with the story. The twists and surprises you don't see coming and you wont be able to put it down.
I highly recommend Change of Heart and I would also recommend her other book Our Moon

Casey and Decker have been friends since they were six years old. Casey always hated the first day of school, on the bright side though it was her senior year. Girls just talked to her so they could get close to Decker. They couldn't understand what Decker saw in Casey and why he wanted to hang out with her all the time. Casey left without telling Decker where she was going, he was devastated. Know after three years Casey is back, Decker notices her car in the drive across the street and he went over to confront Casey about her leaving three years ago. Casey is keeping secrets from Decker and he knows that she is.

Oh my goodness! Where do I even start to review this book? Just, read this book!!! I mean seriously read it now.
I absolutely fell in love with this story from page one. It started out so sweet, and ended 1,000 times sweeter. Decker knew at first sight that he and Casey would be best friends, forever.
I'm a total sucker for a sweet guy, and Decker is one of the sweetest guys around. Ever since the day he met Casey he took care of her, made sure she was protected. Maybe he made some stupid mistakes, but he always protected her.
Casey, although quiet and reserved, and sometimes unsure of herself, has a certain strength. She has to to survive all that life has thrown at her. I loved her strength, her determination once she sets her mind on something.
So many emotions! I laughed, cried... So many tears. Some were sad tears, but so many more were happy tears. Jennifer L Allen took me on one of the best emotional roller coaster rides I've been on this year. I lost sleep reading this book and I'm not even mad! I literally couldn't put it down at some points. This is one of the best friends to lovers I've ever read.
I cannot wait to read Right Place Right Time, Casey's roommate and best friend Kate's story.

Beautiful, heartbreaking, and a true love story.
I was given an ARC for an honest review, and I can easily say that this book was amazing! I was engaged from the first page and taken on a journey so full of emotion that tissues were needed.
Decker and Casey meet when they are six years old and he moves in across the street from her. He tells her straight away that they are going to be best friends. And they were. They spent the next twelve years being each others friend, and eventually more. But you can still see the uncertainty with that lined being blurred. I think they couldn't navigate how to be more than just friends emotionally.
A decision made, for the best of at least one of them, changes everything. Thousands of miles will separate them and test, and possibly break that friendship.
Three years pass before a tragedy brings them back together. But secrets kept may keep them apart.
Again, it was a beautiful story. These two were basically still kids but I really liked the maturity they showed, and the strength they had together. Made them one of my favorite couples to read about.
