FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE THROWAWAY CHILDREN. A man murders his wife and goes on the run. In the most dangerous decision of her life, a lonely young mother takes pity on him and offers him refuge. The man is Jimmy Randall, who, in The Throwaway Children, murders Rita and Rosie's mother, Mavis, before disappearing. This is the story of what happened next, as he borrows his father's army uniform and masquerades as a soldier, fooling lonely Elsie Tarrant into thinking she has found a wonderful new lover, little knowing that he is a wanted man and a murderer.
Encouraged by my publisher father, I have been writing all my life. When I was five, he took my first effort to his office and brought it back in a cardboard cover with the label, 'Tom's Party'written by Diney, published by Daddy. I've never looked back and always have some writing on the go. To date I have written 10 romantic novels under the name of Diney Delancey (I liked the shape of the name and it sounded like a romantic novelist) and four novels as Diney Costeloe. All are also in large print and several recently published as e-books. See my reviews on Amazon and on my website, http://www.dineycosteloe.co.uk or http://castlehavenbooks.co.uk
What a lot to be packed in to such a short story! I just chose this as something a little different to my other reading and found it was exceedingly enjoyable! A man goes on the run after murdering his wife, but doesn't count on himself also becoming a victim once he reaches London. I would like to read more of this author, the story was light and easy.
This is a sequel to The Throwaway Children and fills in the missing gaps when Jimmy Randall flees Belcaster. Quick read, though just an OK read. 5 out of 10.
This is a short story about a minor character in the real book. I'm not sure if it wasn't just possible to add this to the main book, but it was a good read regardless.
Short story filling in some of the gaps in The Throwaway Children which I am listening to on audible. I will give 5 stars to that book but this one was a bit disappointing. I’m glad Jimmy Randall got his just desserts but somehow the anonymity of his end was unsatisfying.
I'm not much into short stories. They always leave me disappointed in the end. In this books case, I wanted the story to go on. This author can really tell a tale!!
Don't read this book though unless you've read the book 'The Throwaway Children'! Fabulous book!!! I feel in love with this author writing after reading it.
This short story kept me reading from start to finish. It's almost like that tv show "I Almost Got Away With It." You get to see the story from the perspective of the bad guy which I think is cool. I was constantly trying to figure out how he would get out of situations. Good short read. 👍
Picks up the story of the violent Jimmy Randall from "The Throwaway Children" after he does a bunk. I would like to have have a more complete story, but the author leaves that for another day, another tale.
This short story was a wrap up of what happened to one of the characters (which in itself was a disappointment) in The Throwaway Children. After reading it, I was disappointed in the ending and not sure it was necessary to write it separate from the original book.
Intriguing completion of a prior book. Wraps the entire saga up neatly. As always, the author crafts her characters well @ the reader feels as if you know them.
Found it too short. As I have read the sequel, I was really get into this book when it suddenly finished. I know that I was advised that it was a short book but finished too soon.
I read The Throwaway Children and it was fantastic. But, the abusive husband, Jimmy Randall's story was never being told throughout the book after he ran away. So, Her Missing Husband is the short story of him and his tragic fate.
