Rate this book
When Heather Janke hears that her oldest and most faithful customer, Eva Schneider, has been bonked on the head and is in hospital, she’s shocked to the core.

Especially when she discovers one of the main suspects is her newest assistant, Ken. With nothing but her eccentric puppy dog, Dave, and her burning desire to help put Eva’s attacker behind bars, she sets out on another sleuthing endeavor, determined to find the truth. But Heather has more to deal with than just the case: she has to balance a busy Donut Delights with the busy season in full swing, as well as the plans for her impending nuptials to her handsome detective fiancé, who is less than impressed with her extracurricular activities.

Heather must get to the center of the mystery, but this one might turn out to be deeper than a donut hole.

Heather Janke's favorite customer, Eva Schneider, is in the hospital in a coma. Someone attacked her and hit her over the head. Heather is in total shock. Who would want to hurt Eva? She's a sweet, elderly woman with seemingly no enemies. So who hit her over the head? Donut Delights is just not the same without Eva coming in for a doughnut and coffee each morning. Despite her detective boyfriend's wishes that she not investigate crimes, Heather feels this attack makes this case personal. Ryan might get upset with her....but she is going to find out who hurt Eva!

This series is light reading. The plots are not complex, and the stories are all relatively short. But I like the main characters and the doughnut shop theme is entertaining. At times I do have to suspend reality a bit...but that's a common occurrence with cozy mysteries. I've had these ebooks on my Kindle for a long time.....and I'm trying to make a concentrated effort to clear out my bookshelves and my digital tbr pile this year. So.....reading through the Donut Hole series finally! The stories can get a bit trope-y at times, but they are entertaining enough to keep me reading.

Red, White and Blueberry Murder is the 7th book in the Donut Hole series. There are 60 books in the series. I have a lot of reading to do! :) So far I have resisted the urge to eat a doughnut while reading, but I'm sure before I'm done with the series I will give in!

Who would have thought being an owner of a donut shop would put someone right in the middle of a number of murders? That’s exactly what seems to continue happening to Heather Janke, the owner of Donut Delights. She is so relentless when it comes to investigating murder mysteries. She not only risks her life with her investigations, but she risks her relationship with her fiancé, Ryan. It’s more than a conflict of interest since he’s the lead detective on each case.

This time one of Heather’s oldest customers is left unconscious with no substantial clues as to who would have done such a thing to this sweet old lady. Heather is determined to find the culprit and bring him or her to justice. Can she learn the truth and keep her relationship with Ryan intact?

I love these quick cozy mystery reads. It’s amazing how the author can combine mystery and romance in one short book. It is just the right amount of each, with the mystery being main focus. That’s just the way I like my cozy mysteries. Although there is no murder in this particular book, it doesn't matter. The intrigue of the quest to find out who did this is fun to follow.

This is the 7th book in the Donut Hole Mystery series and I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve read. These are great fillers for between reading big books or if you just want to delve into something for a couple of hours one afternoon. This series is perfect for that. My one complaint is that I’m always hungry for donuts after I finish these books. LOL

Heather woke up wrapped in sheets and sweating her little old head off.

Heather becomes involved with an investigation when favorite customer and friend, Eva, is hit over the head. Eva is unconscious in the hospital and Heather decides to do some sleuthing.

Heather is engaged to a detective who repeatedly asks her not to get involved in his investigations. She simply can't help herself and does anyway.

The writing is very simplistic and the plot has many holes. The culprit was rather obvious after being introduced.

I've tried a couple of times to read this series and may just give up. It needs a little something to make it more intriguing. A few recipes would be nice too.

Loved this one! The plot was very thrilling, more complicated than the previous ones, and quite a page turner!
I like this series because each volume has at least a few funny episodes. I almost laughed at loud when he ripped off XX’s XXXX(spoilers!) .
This time, Dave the dog did a great job in the story. (although he had had an accident on Amy’s carpet before. lol)

Red White and Blueberry Murder is the seventh book in the Donut Hole Mystery series by Susan Gillard

While I do own a few of the other books in the series, this was the first that I chose to read - because it fit well in a few of the categories of various reading challenges I am doing.

I was surprised at how quick it was to read this book. The storyline held my attention from start to finish. The synopsis of the story is this: Heather Janke owns a Donut Shop. One of her oldest and most faithful customers has been attacked. Heather and her dog, Dave, set about trying to determine who would want to hurt her friend. Her detective fiance is not pleased with her wanting to get involved in the case.

While this is the seventh book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. And now that I've read this one, I plan to go back and read the series from the start.

Some of the characters where rather quirky, but I think this makes the book a rather delightful read.

Sleuthing Heather is back in this novel. I was so happy about that. Finally, Gillard got into the stride again of the amateur detective. Heather going around and asking questions and poking her nose into other people's business is worth the read. Though the story was very easy to figure out, in my opinion, I still really enjoy the book. The interaction with Heather and Ryan, with the pending wedding, is excellent and the readers get to see how the couple is growing. I have high hopes for the rest of the series if Gillard continues the sleuthing in the future novels.

Better and Better

This is my second time reading through this series and it's so much fun! I remember some of the general scenes but not many of the details so after having read 200+ books since I read this series, it's fun to start again. I'm amazed at how the characters, plots, and details become increasingly developed and more dimensional with each story! Bravo Susan Gillard! Thank you for sharing your imagination and talent with us! So worth collecting this series!

I am working my way through this series and very much enjoying it. The books are short and can be read in a couple of hours. The growth of the characters is well planned and the situations are believable. One book flows into the next so well it's like reading chapters of the same book. Which in a way I guess it is. OK enough. I have to read some more.

These are normally fluffy little books that are good for an afternoon. In this book the MC Heather was deliberately stupid and unsafe. Not sure why she suddenly decided that her cop boyfriend was incompetent and unable to solve a crime, but she did and somehow he didn't throw her in jail or break up with her. Hope the next one is better.

so bad, trite, and boring

Story just falls into the old trope of amateur sleuth just has to solve the mystery because the cops couldn’t possibly do it, boyfriend cop tells her to stop investigating, and sleuth has to talk to herself all the time about why she just has to investigate. Ugh. Don’t waste your time on this.

One of Heather’s favorite customer was attacked outside her home, ow in a coma. Ryan had clearly said she wasn’t to investigate any, and she was.
With the wedding come, will this jeopardize it. They are short, love the characters, with interesting plots.

Lovely

A little more rushed than previous mysteries but still a light and fun read. I really enjoyed it and especially the way that Heather stuck to her sleuthing. On to the next!!

Very short

Light and humorous, but a bit too predictable for my tastes. However, this is a short summer read and good to pass some time.

This was just a silly book. It was pretty lame. It would be good for a young reader. They ate a lot of donuts.

Probably my least favorite of the series so far.....Ryan and Heather annoyed me with the whole sleuthing behind Ryan's back issues. Once again I wish it had a more fully developed mystery storyline but given the shortness of the books, mysteries do have a logical conclusion.

In book 7, Heather is getting ready to plane her upcoming wedding to Ryan when he calls with some devistating news that one of her favorite customers, Eva, is in the hospital and in a coma. Some has attacked Eva outside of her home and Heather was a suspect along with one of her employees Ken.

I was waiting so long for this book to come out but I was highly disappointed in a way. It was a good and simple read but it just seemed that since the author didn't write a book in awhile, she just through it together. I mean even at one point in the book she talked about the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard divorces. That could've been added later. I mean the story was good but you know of knew who the killer was after Heather talked to her employee and at that point I kinda lost interest. I hope book 8 and 9 are a little bit better.

The one good thing about this book was that I love the description of the donuts but I can honestly say that it took me awhile to remember what happened to Dave because the last book was so long ago and there was no reminding you of what happened. I mean even Amy wasn't really her usual self in this book. Bring it on book 8

Red, White and Blueberry Murder is the seventh book in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. The characters are well developed and there is an interesting mystery to solve.

Heather Janke is the owner of Donut Delights, a gourmet donut shop in Hillside, Texas. When she learns that her loyal customer and friend, Eva Schneider, has been attacked and in a coma, she is devastated. Heather’s fiancé, Detective Ryan Shepherd, wants her to stay out of the investigation but Heather puts her friendship with Eva above everything else and is determined to find out who did this to her dear friend.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Eva gets hurt and ends up in a coma, Heather is determined to find her attacker. Is Heather a donut shop owner or detective with her sense of putting the puzzle together?
As well as trying to plan her wedding to Ryan.
Always a fun read in this series with quirky characters and love Dave the dog. Centered around Heathers donut shop and her relationship with Ryan and her friend Amy.

Killer donuts or donuts for a killer?

This series is such fun. I livee the quirky characters that people this series. Even Dave the dog has his quirks. Reading this series makes me want to sit down and have coffee with Heather and Ryan or Eva and Amy. Heather keeps her donut shop running while solving murders that her police detective fiance is working on.

I loved this book! An attack on Eva, I almost cried. I knew Heather would get to the bottom of it. Soupy is a colorful character, and I hope we see more of him since he's a friend of Eva's. The characters are so real and not dumb. They call the police when something happens and don't go blindly into a dangerous situation. I'm looking forward to the wedding of the year!

Red, White and Blueberry Murder

This was my favorite so far. I felt bad for Heather that Eva had gotten hurt and was in a coma. Heather is still spunky and is still investigating even though Ryan asked her not to. Oh and poor Dave and his week bladder I had to laugh when he speed on Amy's carpet. I love that the book was longer as well.

I love this series and I highly recommend it to everyone. In this story Heather learns that her most loyal customer, Eva Schneider, has been attacked and is in the hospital and one of her employees is the prime suspect. Even though her detective fiance asks her to stay out of things, well, when has that ever happened?

I love following Heather and Ryan. Heather's favorite customer is attacked and in a coma . Once again Heather is out to find out who is behind this and Ryan is still trying to stop her before she gets hurt. It's a great mystery and I can't wait to start the next book to see what they get into next.

A good quick read!

I thought this book's plot was similar to the Joanne Fluke books, and it is in a way. The characters are not as complex and confusing!
Susan leads the characters on excursions that are interesting and believable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this author and will read other books by her.

Heathers sleuthing saves the day

Good short story, made me hungry for all the delightful donut combinations. I'm surprised Heathers fiancée puts up with her interference tho'.
