Mine Yoshizaki (吉崎 観音 Yoshizaki Mine), born December 2, 1971 in Isahaya, Nagasaki) is a male Japanese manga artist (mangaka) who first started his career by making dōjinshi based on video games. Yoshizaki also worked as an assistant to mangaka Katsu Aki . His first publication was featured in a compilation book published by Shogakukan in 1989. He is best known for his manga Keroro Gunso, published as Sgt. Frog in the United States, which was first published in the Japanese manga magazine Shonen Ace. He is also the creator of Arcade Gamer Fubuki and did character design on the series Seven of Seven. In 2005, Keroro Gunso received the 50th Shogakukan Manga Award for children's manga.
Well, I got volumes 4, 5, 6 and 7 of this hilarious manga recently, and they're just as good as the previous three. In this volume, the Keroro Platoon uses the Japanese holiday of Setsubun to get revenge on Natsumi (ASSASSIN SOYBEANS), we see what happens when Angol Moa gets drunk (believe me, it's not pretty), and one of Tamama's martial-arts students from Keron pops in for a visit (and inadvertently manages to enrage half of the main cast). Of course, those are just a few of the chapters - and some of the less insane ones, too. While the series is extremely hilarious, the biggest flaw still remains - there is a RIDICULOUS amount of fanservice. While I don't enjoy fanservice, this can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how much of a life you have. Overall, if you're looking for a crazy-but-hilarious comedy manga (even if that fanservice means it's not one for the kiddies), Sgt. Frog is a great choice!
This is the first Sgt. Frog manga I've read and I think the anime is better. Although this had some laughs and I did learn a couple things about Japan reading the footnotes. One thing that kinda surprised me was seeing Natsumi naked! She's in Grade 8 and I actually felt dirty seeing that. Wasn't expecting it but I guess that's some more Japan info I learnt reading this. I think three of the episodes in this manga appear in Season 1 on the show, just as a side note. Not sure if I'll buy anymore of these because I read most of this one for free on mangapark.
