This first in the Merry Widows Trilogy is a great start I hope to a very successful and neat series. It starts with Mary, her Cousin Sarah and their childhood friend Catherine. All widows living together within the first year after their husbands die. Mary is introduced to Rafe and his young daughter Beth after they are injured after an Apache attack. Suffice to say you will love the interesting, intriguing and fairly fast-paced but yet quite informative story in the Wild West. I enjoying this so much I definitely want to read the rest of this series as well as checking out everything this author Raine Cantrell as written. And if I give it 5 Stars you know it is well-written.
Three women who have been thru the fire (two are cousins) live and work together. This is Mary's story. Apparently her married life wasn't great mostly due to unloving, bitter and mean husband. She never conceived during the marriage and the husband blamed her of course. A stranger comes to there door with an injured child. Mary, loves children takes responsibility for the care of Beth. This book has an HEA but there is quite a bit of hardship to get there. Good book!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this western about a widow who was emotionally abused by her deceased husband for being barren, and a man who would do anything for his little daughter. Rafe shows up on Mary's doorstep with his injured child after surviving an attack. Someone is out to get him. Mary, desperately desiring a child, takes to the little girl immediately, and then the man shortly thereafter. The love plot has an ending but the murder plot sort of fizzles out to me. A secondary character, Shell, definitely needs his own story.
