2nd reading: I love this series. So sexy! I've loved reading this series. Another sexy story with a mail order bride who was meant for an older man, but who was snatched up by two sexy cowboys. I loved reading this story. 5☆
So I may have squee’d out loud when I heard that the Bridgewater series was going to become a ‘World’. I love this series. It has everything you could ask for; rugged Alpha males, feisty females with lots of steamy smexy scenes topped off with some peril to overcome. And Their Conquered Bride is no exception!
Elizabeth Lewis hasn’t had an easy life. Bearing the stigma of illegitimacy, she will do anything to save herself and that of her two legitimate sisters from the clutches of her nasty uncle and his nefarious plans. Even agreeing to marry a young widower who she has never met. This is just a small sacrifice to make in order to ensure their safety. Her innermost fantasies and passions will just have to remain unfulfilled…. or will they?
Ford Ellison and Logan Smythe and their companions are travelling to join their friends on the Bridgewater ranch and hopefully find a bride to share and settle down. Their plans take a sudden detour, however, when they learn of an odious man’s plans while making a stop to refuel.
The widower is no young man at all and plans to share his mail order bride with his two fully grown sons!! Determined to rescue the young lady from a fate worse than death, they don’t expect, however, to fall for her at first sight.
Umm, is it possible to get transported to the Bridgewater World? Because, hot diggity, what I wouldn’t give to have my needs met my two or *coughs* more of these hot ex-military men.
Ford and Logan awaken Lizzie to a world of passion and she finds the home she has been striving all her life for:
“…. I had found my true home with these two men.”
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition to the Bridgewater series and I seriously can’t wait for Elizabeth’s sister Rebekah’s book – HELLO!! – Garrett and Thompson!! Phew!
Note: Copy kindly received from author in exchange for honest review.
THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE I COULD DO BUT GIVE THEM EVERYTHING
I enjoyed this addition to the Bridgewater series, and Grace Goodwin is a beautiful fit with Vanessa Vale. Their writing styles was a beautiful merger. Once again, the story will read well as a standalone, will bring other Bridgewater couples into the stories, but if you haven’t read other books in the series, you can still keep up.
Lizzie becomes a mail order bride, escaping a cruel family, a heartless Uncle, and marriage to an older man with grown children. A lecherous, lying man, Samuel Jenkins, has sent for Lizzie to be his bride and take care of his sons, his grown sons. The man honestly planned to share her with his own boys. Ford and Logan can’t believe the Jenkins men and their bragging about their plan, they stink, are unkempt and have no respect for a woman. Ford and Logan are determined they will save her and make her their wife.
Lizzie may be shocked after she and Ford are married to learn that she is to be shared as a wife to both Ford and Logan. She is confused and feels they have tricked her or did they save her from a bad situation? The plot is unique for this series in that at least two men will be married and protect one woman. The interaction of the couple is full of passion. What happens when trouble comes looking for a missing mail-order bride? Will this tear Ford, Logan, and Lizzie apart? Secrets are harmful and cause anxiety, confusion, and a lack of trust. Can Lizzie get forgiveness and will the three of them forge a new commitment? Disclosure: As part of a review team, I received a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thought, opinions, and ratings are my own
I typically love Grace Goodwin’s work, but this one missed the mark. She REALLY should have avoided this collaboration at all costs.
Written in first person, “Their Conquered Bride” is set in 1890, in a time where women were married off at 12 years old. Elizabeth was an orphan, the product of a forbidden love between her mother and an Indian, raised by her uncle after her mother passed away. She responds to an ad in the paper for a mail order bride in order to save her younger sisters from marrying Jaba the Hut. But are we really supposed to believe that she was a 25-year old virgin? I’m sorry, but no. She would’ve been married long before her 18th birthday, and even if no white guy wanted her for her part Indian heritage, it wouldn’t have stopped her uncle from raping her before she was 14. I agree, that is sick, twisted, and wrong on so many levels, but that is the way shit was in the 1800s. Back then, just Lizzie’s Indian heritage alone would have given white men all the permissions they needed to turn her out and abuse her. Her uncle would’ve thrown her to the wolves and sold her to a whore house. I don’t agree with our history, it’s f*cked up and twisted on so many levels, but it doesn’t stop it from being true. Why stop there? Why not write about an interracial threesome in the 1600s?
I’m not even going to get into the war veterans turned American cowboys who decide to marry two husbands per wife, all because of a fake war in the Middle East. And how they lied to Lizzie, basically tricking her into a lifelong marriage before seducing her into a threesome, then expected her acceptance and forgiveness afterwards. Oh, but let’s spank her because she’s holding out on them, what?! (Again, 1800s where women had no rights, deep breath) I also won’t touch the fact that her 50-year-old intended intended (ha) to share her with his two grown sons. Ironically, that was probably the most realistic part of the book. And I definitely won’t get into the psychology of Lizzie watching a threesome while flicking her bean in the very first chapter.
Anyway, if Grace can’t sell me on this plot, then I know damn well that the other authors won’t stand a chance. This entire series should probably be burned. Stick to alien romances honey, that’s your forte.
A wild west sizling hot steamy sexy story about a woman and her two sisters arriving in a town from the Coach heading to meet a man who advertised her a Bride. Only he lied and set a trap. Luckily two honourably soldiers heard what the plan was, so one married her instead. Now having arrived in the homestead all planned to live by they told Lizzie the truth, she is committed to them both.
I read this book because it was Grace Goodwin. Expected a sci fi and got a menage. Well the story also takes place in an established series where I landed without any previous knowledge of all the characters. So it's not quite as easy to understand as a standalone, but character development and plot was good.
Lizzie is on her way west to marry a man she's never met to get away from her uncle. Ford and Logan rescue her from marrying her intended husband but trick her in the process. Lots of heat and tenderness as they show her that her desires are not wrong and that they will cherish her.
Theses guys learn whats yo happen to Lizzie. They decide to save her. When she gets off the stage she takes there breathe away. And her sister affect 4 of there friends. Will Lizzie accept her to guys?
I have been enjoying the Bridgewater menagerie series. It brings a different light to the way people think and do things. Love this story. I highly recommend it to those who's like stories such as these.
I know for this book that it is a different author than the rest of the series, but you still have to get the characters straight! Olivia and Tyler are cousins and not brother and sister! Other than that, it's great!
Until I started reading this series, I never imagined a menage relationship. But like good authors do get their readers involved in their stories, now I want my own!
I have been a fan of the Bridgewater brides since the beginning. It's great to see it expanded into a world with such continuity between the authors.
Lizzy brings her two sisters with her to Montana as a mail order bride. She couldn't leave them at home to be forced to marry a man almost three times her age. But what she doesn't take into account is that her new "husband" may be just as bad. Luckly for her Ford and Logan hear Samuel Jenkins plan to share his wife with his two grown sons. They decide to catch the woman coming off the stage. They were surprised when three women left the stage.
Ford claims to be Samuel Ford Jenkins and that he is her groom. They go get married and he tells the preacher to just call him Ford. He signs his correct name in the ledger. Lizzy soon finds out the truth. Not only is she married to Ford but also to Logan and neither of them are Samuel Jenkins. Her sisters are already on their way to Bridgewater with friends of Logan and Ford's so it's off to Bridgewater she goes.
I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review. I can't wait to read the stories of Lizzy's sisters.
Samuel Jenkins is waiting for his mail-order bride. While playing cards with Logan and Ford, Samuel brags about his plans for their wedding night and how he will be sharing her with his sons. Logan and Ford are sickened by Samuel’s plans and make a plan of their own to save Lizzie from the old man. After fleeing Omaha, Lizzie and her two sisters arrive a day early in Hayes after agreeing to marry Samuel Jenkins, a man she believes has two young sons. With their plan in place, she is approached by Ford who pretends to be Mr. Jenkins. They are quickly married and on their way to Bridgewater. Her world changes at that moment. What will she do when she discovers they lied, that she is wed to both Ford and Logan? The writing style of his book by Ms. Goodwin was very similar to the other books in the series. The characters were intriguing, but I felt that Lizzie’s sisters just vanished without much concern. The storyline was interesting and kept you turning the page. The moment it was revealed that Lizzie was married by proxy fell a little flat. If you are looking for spice, this book is for you. I received this book to provide an honest review.
LOVE the idea of 2-3 Victorian-era cowboy husbands, it makes brilliant sense in providing stability to the wife & kids. My great-greats could've used that stabilifying factor. The book: Pure erotica, not really romance. I thought this was slightly more romantic than #1 in the series, but still I'd love to see the romance and "earning the love" built up more, plus dramatic romantic highs & lows, and reissued. Ive read other dominant-submissive stories that had way more romance. These guys seem all Dominant, spanking & training, and not much way for a mutual love to develop. At least at the end, she has a tiny bit of choice and gives them a scare, which I liked. I'd love to see a big re-edit where the women gain more independence, skills, and create their own choices and make these too-bossy men earn the love.
The heroine almost gets locked into an abusive mailorder marriage to a vile old man, and unbeknownst to her, servicing his violent sons as well. Our heroes rescue her by impersonating her betrothed and tricking her into marriage to them instead.
Just finished re-reading Their Conquered Bride. Penned by Grace Goodwin, it is another installment in Vanessa Vale’s Bridgewater series. In this book, readers get to know Elizabeth Lewis, Ford Ellison, and Logan Smythe. She was raised by her uncle to feel as though she was unclean and dirty due to the circumstances of her conception. She was born it out of wedlock. To save herself and her sisters she becomes a mail order bride. However, the man who is her intended lied to her and had nasty intentions for her future. Luckily this damsel in distress is rescued by two former soldiers, Logan and Ford. When these three meet, there is an electrifying attraction. Will they keep her safe? Will their attraction blossom into something more? You must read this book to find out.
Ms. Goodman does a remarkable job with this romance. Like in the others she has penned, her skill with dialog, POV, and descriptive language works cohesively to capture her readers attention. Through POV readers glean the backstory of the three lead protagonists. I like the quick pace of her plot and her characters. She makes them very likeable. Well done, Ms. Goodman.
I loved this book couldn't put it down. Elizabeth and her two sisters lived with their uncle because their parents had past away, but their uncle was going to marry her off to an older man. Elizabeth didn't want to marry him so she answered an add for a mail order bride and took her sisters with her for fear that once gone he would make one of her sisters marry the older man instead. The add said that he was a widower with two young sons that she would take care of. Ford and Logan along with other friends were gambling with a Mr. Samuel Jankins and his two older sons. Mr. Jenkins and his sons started talking about a mail order bride that would be arriving soon and how they were going to share her. Ford and Logan didn't like what they were going to do to the bride to be so they made a plan to help her by telling her a lie.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Elizabeth is rescued from a very bad situation that she hasn't even realized that she's got herself into. Her rescue involves some deception and it takes a little time for her to understand and trust the rescuers. The story moves quickly, characters from previous books are mentioned, but not having read the previous books will not be a problem as this book works well as a stand-alone. I don't think I had previously read a series in which different books had different authors, but Grace Goodwin has stayed true to the feeling of the previous books while still providing a different story - I though this book fit into the series seamlessly.
I really enjoyed this addition to the Bridgewater world. Ford and Logan are on their way to join their "family" and meet a disgusting old man and his two sons in a saloon and learn he is waiting for his mail order bride and what he plans to do with her. They cannot let this happen and intercept Elizabeth's stage and when their eyes meet it was fate for all three. The story that follows is pretty typical of the rest of the Bridgewater books as the women are cherished and loved and the center of their men's lives. I cannot wait for more of this series!
**Received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Here's my honest review ...... I loved it, this is a smoking hot book that grabbed me from the first page and kept me hooked till the end. I so want to be a mail order bride this group of retired military men, pretty please. Great plot, great fun main characters and lots of secondary characters that I want to know more about. You will enjoy when you read it and you may need a cold shower afterwards. It was just a fun read and I look forward to the next in the series.
This is the first “World Book” in the Bridgewater series. The series was started by Vanessa Vale, and while this is a departure from her writing style the characters are still phenomenal and it is a pleasure to head back to Bridgewater Ranch. This is a part of a wonderful series but it can be read as a stand alone. It is sexy and hot, the men just might be panty dropping when it comes to their hearts for the heroine. It also sets up at least two more books, which is a great way to keep going back to a ranch filled with hot men and the women they cherish.
I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Lizzie arrives in Hayes, Montana with her two sisters in tow, and the intention of marrying a man she has never met. Fortunately, for Lizzie, Ford and Logan have met her intended bridegroom. They make plans to make sure she doesn't marry the man by claiming her as their wife. I love the Bridgewater Bride series, the men are handsome, sexy and protective and the woman are in need of that protection. Sizzling hot western menage romance with a happily ever after. Fantastic!
Elizabeth has had a miserable life and it is supposed to be much better when she becomes a mail order bride. She doesn't know that it will only get worse if her soon to be husband has anything to say about it. Ford and Logan find out his plan and made a few of their own to rescue Elizabeth and her sisters. They will have to do some fast talking and hope she will go along. Will she be able to stay with them after she finds out how they live?
This is a great series! I had never read anything like this until I discovered this series and I love it! Definitely not something I want to do personally (same as I don't want to be a murderer but I love murder mysteries and thrillers!) but it is very HOT! These books also have a story to them with very loving, caring characters that make the sex that much hotter! One husband is plenty for me but the community is very intriguing.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
This series is totally hot and I enjoy the characters and the stories. Vanessa Vale started the world, but Grace Goodwin has added to it with this story. I enjoy how protective the men are, how their wife submits to them and there is always a twist in the story to keep you guessing. I'm excited to read more of ms. Goodwin's work. Nice addition to the series.
This is the next book in the Bridgewater Brides series. Elizabeth has become a mail order brides to get away from her uncle. She brings her little sisters with her. Unbeknownst to her, her husband to be is disgusting and is planning on sharing her with his grown sons. Logan and Ford save her and marry her. They send her sisters off with her husband pairs (new books, I'm sure) and then take her. I loved this new voice in the series. I enjoyed the story and I give it 5 stars.
