This is the second 'Beavor Towers' adventure. Once again Philip has been transported to the island to help his friends the beavers in their fight against the wicked witch, Oyin. But Oyin is planning a terrible revenge on the island's inhabitants.
Nigel Hinton was born and educated in London. After two years in advertising, he worked as an English teacher for nine years. His first novel, Collision Course (winner of the Dutch Silver Pen Award) was written as a result of a challenge from one of his pupils. He began teaching part-time and also worked as a professional actor before concentrating on his writing.
Nigel is the ever-popular author the Beaver Towers series of stories for primary school readers (which has been adapted for TV), and, for secondary school readers, he wrote the Buddy trilogy. His novel The Finders won him the Federation of Children’s Book Groups Award.
This is a brilliant kids adventure book. I think it’s even better than the first book in the series. I was delighted to find an uploaded version of the audiobook on YouTube.
It has one of the most sinister, creepy scenes I’ve ever read (when young Philip is home alone and someone very nasty is coming for him). It’s still pretty sinister to read as an adult! However, the darker elements are very nicely balanced by the warmth and humour of the good-guy characters, especially Baby B the beaver and the three hedgehog mechanics with their beloved car Doris.
This is the second installment of my favourite book Beaver Towers. When the little black cloud calls Phillip again he knew an adventure was about to begin. Baby B and Nick are in danger as wicked witch Oyin is seeking revenge. Phillip together with his new friends face many scary situations to help their friends.
Can Phillip survive the windstorm sent by Oyin? Will the Prince of Darkness destroy everyone?
Will Oyin be a match for our hero Phillip, read it and find out ...........
Can't say too much about this second installment in this series without accidentally letting out spoilers but my feelings about it are the same as the first book so please go ahead and read my review there :)
