I am a bit confused and am not sure how to rate this book. I watched the Netflix show which I thouroughly enjoyed and I knew beforehand the main character of the show was not in the comicbook. The art is nice, the story is a bit too rushed, I wish there were more details about the Warrior Nun mythology and what are the powers of the main character. I was very unconfortable with the sexualised representation of women characters (girls do not have to be sexy to be kickass) and kept telling myself that the art is from the 1990s.

Overall a 3.5/5 stars. I will keep reading this series and hopefully my rating will go up.

Medieval Europe. A band of marauding vikings are hnting a lone nun, her fate all but sealed. Suddenly a Valkyrie appears before the ravening bnd of vikings. She looks at them in disgust and says she once served Odin, transporting true warriors to Valhalla. She has now renounced her allegiance to Odin and now serves the Christian God. She tells them they have degenerated into animals attacking the helpless and women and children. She then imparts part of her power and a sword to the young nun Areala.

Present Day. Two armed nuns are taking on demons in mortal combat. Suddenly it is revealed that this was a VR combat simulation. They are novitiates in the Warrior Nun corps based in the Vatican. One of them, Sister Shannon is summoned to be told she has been assigned to the USA to be the duty Warrior Nun for two districts.

In New York, an Indian Motorbike riding, cigarette smoking woman armed with shotguns, Crashes a cartel drug factory. Turns out that the drug factory is run by demons and hides a more sinister secret. Shotgun Mary, finds a child who she rescues. Meanwhile back at the New York Manse Shannon is suddenly confronted by Mary carrying the child.

In a part of Hell demon princess Lilith is assigned by her boss to Earth to fight another faction of Hell Demons.

All the players, and others besides, are in place for a clash of epic proportions.

With coming Netflix Warrior Nun TV show coming soon, this is the perfect jumping on point. Action, adventure, humour and classic Light vs Dark motives - but with a little grey blended in.

My favourite character - Shotgun Mary.

Minor criticism. The women - even the nuns, are portrayed with needlessly large bosoms. It also appears they wear lipstick.
