Η μνηστή του Λούκυ
Ce personnage immortel parcourt depuis 1947 (44 ans !) l'histoire de l'ouest américain. Il y a rencontré des personnages célèbres (Jesse James, Calamity Jane, Billy the Kid, Sarah Bernhardt...). Lucky Luke est l'homme des missions impossibles, le défenseur des pauvres, des veuves et des orphelins, bref le parfait héros ! Son cheval, Jolly Jumper, est un parfait compagnon de ce poor lonesome cowboy. Les frères Dalton se dressent perpétuellement sur le chemin de Lucky Luke ce qui permet à ce dernier de les poursuivre continuellement et de les confier à la justice. Autre personnage traditionnel de la série : Rantanplan, le chien le plus bête du farwest qui a vécut de façon autonome 2 albums. Lucky Luke est, avec Astérix et Tintin, le plus célèbre personnage de l'histoire de la BD : cette série, accessible à tous, est devenu un mythe grâce à Morris et Goscinny. Ce personnage a fait l'essentiel de sa formidable carrière dans les pages de SPIROU, PILOTE et LE JOURNAL DE LUCKY LUKE. Une exploitation merchandising et audiovisuelle (dont aux États-Unis) a permis d'introduire Lucky Luke auprès d'une très large couche de la population et auprès de plusieurs générations de lecteurs. A noter qu'après la disparition de Goscinny, plusieurs scénaristes ont travaillé sur la série : Vicq, De Groot, Fauche et Léturgie, Lodewijk, Lo Hartog Van Banda et Vidal. L'essentiel des albums se trouvent chez Dupuis et Dargaud., la nouveauté chez Lucky Productions.

Mais qu'est-ce que c'est que cet album ? On dirait une resucée de l'excellent "La caravane" avec Lucky Luke qui doit escorter un convoi de caravanes, mais composée uniquement de femmes…
Certes, le conducteur n'est pas Ugly Barrow, mais Hank Bully (La dilligence) et Lucky Luke sera accompagné d'un jeune précieux pour qui les femmes ne sont pas sa tasse de thé.
Hank Bully jure moins sur ses mules que Ugly Barrow (la caravane), mais l'assistant de Luke a tout des manières de Monsieur Pierre, le coiffeur français de "La caravane".
Même scénario, puisqu'à quelques détails près, les mêmes choses se répètent : un méchant s'est glissé dans la caravane des femmes, se déguisant et il faudra le démasquer, elles se feront attaquer par les indiens et le moyen de s'en sortir sera à peu de choses près le même que le stratagème utilisé dans l'album "La caravane", elles vivront quelques péripéties et subiront des avaries.
Autrement dit, pour moi, et ceci n'est que mon humble avis, la soupe sent le réchauffé, pour ne pas dire le brûlé !
Certes, nous auront l'intervention des Dalton, mais en très peu de pages. Cela valait-il la peine de les faire intervenir ? Non… de plus, comment pouvaient-ils se trouver à proximité de la ville de destination de Lucky Luke ??
L'album aurait pu être drôle avec les clichés sur les femmes que pensent les hommes, les auteurs en utilisent quelques uns, dont celui de la femme toujours en retard, comme Lily, une femme du convoi, ce qui fera dire plus tard à Luke "Rassemblez des mules et Lily !".
Le seul autre gags vraiment drôles proviendra d'un Dalton s'écriant "Un puma !" et le puma s'écriant en même temps "Un dalton", pour le reste, c'est sous-exploité, je trouve.
De plus, la fiancée de Lucky Luke est un titre trompeur puisque lors de l'arrivée de la caravane, le fiancé dévolu à Jenny est en prison, les officiels de la ville ne veulent pas le libérer (il a fait une peccadille) et demandent donc à Lucky Luke de jouer le rôle du fiancé de mademoiselle Jenny et de vivre sous le même toit…
Rien de drôle, surtout que les cases dévolues à cette vie en commun sont peu nombreuses et comportent très peu de situations vraiment drôles ou cocasse.
Bref, un album qui sent la soupe réchauffée, qui est sous-exploité niveau gags potentiels, dont les Dalton n'ont rien à faire là pour si peu de cases et je ne dirai qu'une seule chose : AU SUIVANT !!

Conscientiously, there's a pre-story notation that the broad (ha!) sexism that imposes upon the entirety was more a reflection of the climate in which it was written (1980s) in France and Belgium than a representation of the times within the story. How interesting! But was it written that way as criticism or because Vidal was part of the problem? It may not have been the latter because he did give them a few superiorities that were crucial to the success of the expedition.
Then, the fifteen women in the wagon-train which Luke was leading from St. Louis to beyond the Rockies into a town of the same number of men were accompanied by a Parisian hairdresser who was described as the equivalent of a "harem eunich", so homosexuality was poked as well- but more as over-the-top stereotyping and tongue->in->cheeking than demeaning or belittling.
Why did Morris draw the breasts so differently than his usual? They go way too far out and are incredibly pointy for some ostensibly cartoonery reason.

Reread this after 15 years!! I first read a couple of Lucky Luke books when I was in secondary school. This one is absolutely my favorite.

2,5 étoiles (2/10 cœurs). J’ai lu ceci après avoir regardé Lucky Luke EP36. Je n’ai pas autant apprécié le livre que l’épisode télévisé, mais seulement parce que dès les deux premières pages, Le mauvais goût est resté dans ma bouche pour le reste de l'histoire, et n'a pas été aidé par les autres événements tels que les femmes étrangement dessinées et les autochtones grossièrement stéréotypés. Je comprends que c’est une BD, vraiment, mais je préfère mes BD de meilleur goût, et j’ai trouvé que ce livre était une énorme déception après Tintin et même
Les Dalton à la noce.
A part ça, j’ai aimé l’histoire de Jennie et elle + Luke… même si l’apparition de Dalton était très inattendue… et j'ai trouvé la partie de la caravane en elle-même plutôt amusante (était-ce sexiste ? Probablement, mais pas aussi exagéré que les indigènes) spécialement avec le fugitif. Mais ouais. C’est un cas où j’aime bien plus le « film » que le livre.

Probably, but not as over the top as the Natives) specially with the addition of the fugitive. But yeah. This is one instance where I like the “film” way better than the book.

siempre resulta interesante analizar un poco la figura del cowboy solitario y todo eso. lucky luke, que es un desfile de estereotipos deliberados, no rescata al protagonista de ese topicazo de buscavidas con un toque de misantropía tierna. y he aquí la gran pregunta, que a la edad de diez años me respondió un dibujo paródico en un enorme tomo de mi madre: ¿a este señor qué le va?
discusiones acerca de la verdadera importancia de esta cuestión aparte, veo verdaderamente imposible explicar la sombra cultural de lucky luke sin atarla íntimamente a su desavergonzado tono homosexual. en esta misma historia encontramos a un personaje abiertamente gay al que lucky luke recibe con algo del estilo de «¿qué es esto?» y que sin embargo tarda dos viñetas en aceptar. lo mismo con el personaje femenino viril, con el preso travestido y, evidentemente, con el eterno compañero de luke, su vínculo masculino más longevo e íntimo (recuerdo aquella historia corta acerca de su separación...): su caballo Jolly Jumper. Para que no quede demasiado gay, que sean de especies distintas.
Bueno, señores Morris y Goscinny (en este caso Vidal), su treta, bien intencionada o accidental, como muchas otras en el imaginario western (aquella escena de los revólveres en Río Rojo), ha resultado en un personaje tan solitario como queer. No me queda nada por decir. Resulta un poco abrupto acabar así, decirles «Lucky Luke era gay» y cerrar mi reseña, pero no hay mucho más que añadir. El cómic era terrible.

Lucky Luke in this volume helps a caravan of women to get through the Wild West in search of their marriage in a small town without women. There are a number of mishaps during the trek, some great jokes and and Daltons also make an appearance. In the end - for a short time - even our famous lonesome cowboy becomes a fiancé, but wiggles out of it by the end. This volume is good fun, has a bit negative message about marriage as a whole, but this aside, it's an hour well spent, you can watch Jolly Jumper laugh out loud a few times too :)

I haven't read this one in ages and re-reading it as an adult was a strange experience, because it may bring back memories but at the same time it seems so dated that someone could say that it was sexist even for the time it was first published. Although, there seems to be a strong sense of irony in all that.

É um complicado pegar em séries delivros que foram idolatrados por gerações de pesssoas ao longo do século XX e lê-las à luz do século XXI... Não deixa de ser um pouco difícil lermos esta história e não nos sentirmos um pouco desconfortáveis com algumas piadas que, ao contrário do vinho do Porto, parece não terem melhorado com o tempo.

První část, než se Lucky Luke s nevěstami dostane na Divoký západ, není nejhorší. Druhá část s Daltony už za moc nestojí, vtipy nejsou nejhorší, ale moc to nedává smysl. Od tématu "Lucky Luke a ženy" jsem čekal víc.

Tapi kelihatannya para gadis itu lebih kuat daripada yang dikira orang~ baik ketika menghadapi bandit dan suku Indian, maupun saat mengatasi keganasan alam liar dan para penghuninya (^w^)

The Fiancée of Lucky Luke. The title is a small part of the story. Not written by Goscinny, this story is entertaining enough when Luke has to guide a few women from the East to meet some men in the far West. In the meantime they have many (funny) adventures.

Lucky Luke has been tasked with escorting a convoy from one side of the US to the other, something he’s done many a time before, but on this occasion it’s not settlers or cattle, but women. The townships that are springing up, founded by the early pioneers, are largely made up of men, and now those menfolk are hoping to settle down with a partner, and Luke’s got the job of getting their intendeds there safely. The group of women are headed for one particular town and have already selected their men from photographs, so all seems straight-forward enough, bar the Comanche, a criminal travelling in disguise, and, inevitably, the Daltons.
There’s also one other factor, that Cinebook have rightly addressed themselves at the beginning of the book, and that’s the somewhat questionable stereotyping of the women. As they point out, it’s casual sexism, which at the time of writing wouldn’t have turned many heads, but in today’s more enlightened world it does jar. There’s no malice, but it does feel out of step with something created for the contemporary market, and it certainly doesn’t spoil the book. It just needs bearing in mind that it was created at a different time, in the same way that watching a TV western or movie would reveal similar attitudes.
So all that aside, Luck gets to do what he does best, delivers his charges, and gets closer than perhaps Lucky Luke has ever got to married life.
