See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government's Submission to Jihad

Rate this book
One day after a prominent U.S. Muslim leader reacted to the November 2015 Paris attacks with a declaration that the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, has nothing to do with Islam, President Obama made the same assertion.
Who exactly is the enemy we face, not only in the Middle East but also within our borders? Is it "murderers without a coherent creed" or "nihilistic killers who want to tear things down," as some described ISIS after 130 people were brutally slain and another 368 injured in a coordinated attack on Western soil that authorities say was organized with help from inside France's Muslim communities.
After the Paris attacks, Obama, himself, described ISIS as "simply a network of killers who are brutalizing local populations."
But how much do words and definitions really matter? According to the legendary military strategist Sun Tzu, if "you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one (battle) and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle."
When the Department of Homeland Security was founded in 2003, its stated purpose was "preventing terrorist attacks within the United States and reducing America's vulnerability to terrorism." The Bush administration's definition of the enemy as a tactic, terrorism, rather than a specific movement, proved consequential amid a culture of political correctness. By the time President Obama took office, Muslim Brotherhood-linked leaders in the United States were forcing changes to national security policy and even being invited into the highest chambers of influence. A policy known as Countering Violent Extremism emerged, downplaying the threat of supremacist Islam as unrelated to the religion and just one among many violent ideological movements.
When recently retired DHS frontline officer and intelligence expert Philip Haney bravely tried to say something about the people and organizations that threatened the nation, his intelligence information was eliminated, and he was investigated by the very agency assigned to protect the country. The national campaign by the DHS to raise public awareness of terrorism and terrorism-related crime known as If You See Something, Say Something effectively has become If You See Something, Say Nothing.
In See Something, Say Nothing, Haney – a charter member of DHS with previous experience in the Middle East – and co-author Art Moore expose just how deeply the submission, denial and deception run. Haney's insider, eyewitness account, supported by internal memos and documents, exposes a federal government capitulating to an enemy within and punishing those who reject its narrative.
In this well-documented, first-person account of his unique service with DHS, Haney shows why it's imperative that Americans demand that when they see something and say something, the servants under their charge do something to prevent a cunning, relentless enemy from carrying out its stated aim to "destroy Western Civilization from within."

An eye-opening look at one man's pursuit of the truth and the consequences he suffered in his quest. The author makes a compelling case that the Obama administration mishandled and misled the American people in pursuit of their own sinister agenda. Even though the book was vague in places, it was necessary to protect sources and methods. All in all a very persuasive account of malfeasance in the ongoing War on Terror.

With such a catchy title and ominous subtitle, I couldn’t resist reading this book after hearing an interview with the author, Philip Haney. He sounded credible. More importantly, he possesses the credentials to prove that he really was a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with high level access to crucial intel. He also received numerous commendations for his service.

Trained as an agricultural entomology, Haney’s extensive travels in the Mid-East gave him twenty-years worth of opportunities to observe Muslim cultures and study Islam.

Haney’s position with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Atlanta’s international airport brought him into direct contact with highly-placed Muslim leaders and clerics entering the US. Trained to interview suspicious arrivals, particularly those on watch lists because of their affiliation with known terrorist organizations, he conducted thousands of interviews. In the process he began “connecting the dots,” documenting names and organizations, and following money trails. “[This is] counterterrorsim in a few words. Find the trail; go to the nest. And then keep doing it over and over again.”

Haney did what he thought he was supposed to do as a DHS agent and concerned citizen: he saw something (early warning signs of Islamic radicalization occurring within the US) and then said something .

Haney submitted reports and assessments, much of them researched and written in his own time. His efficiency and knowledge was quickly noticed and he found himself briefing senators and congressmen.

But the further he progressed and the more his assessments and suggestions were vindicated, he discovered his work was not appreciated by everyone. It was no surprise that groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR, who have significant influence within the US and directly upon the White House, did not appreciate Haney’s insinuations. It was certainly a surprise, and tremendously disheartening and alarming, that he found himself under repeated federal investigation.

Haney contends that somehow during the last decade, the First Amendment has become a weapon that special-interest Muslim groups, many with financial ties to known terrorists organizations, use to punish anyone who ventures to question their motives and admitted goals.

According to Haney’s research and knowledge of Islamic thought, “‘American Muslims aren’t authorized to promote their own distinctive policy apart from a consensus of opinion derived from legal specialists within their branch of Islam…[American Muslim] policy may appear to be tailored for the current cultural/political sensitivities of the American audience, but in the end, it will always be based on the accepted and traditional policy of the historic global Ummah...also known as sharia.”

Essentially, Haney makes the case that sharia law is the stated goal of global Islam. But sharia implemented as the Koran and Islamic law describe is ultimately incompatible with the principles outlined in the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

From the preface: “When Philip Haney saw something and said something, some of his bosses--all the way up to the White House--responded not with gratefulness but with orders to sanitized and eliminate the information and launch investigations against him instead of the documented threats to the nation’s security.”

The US Constitution obviously protects freedom of religion. A Muslim living in the USA is free to express himself and his beliefs as he sees fit, even as I as an evangelical Christian I am free to live and express my own. The Constitution, however, does not protect criminal activity, regardless of who perpetuates it. With respect to the DHS, their whole purpose is to detect and prevent violent terrorist activity. A DHS agent can only do this when he has the resources and authority to sound the alarm when he feels there is a credible threat.

This is Haney’s account of how his hands were tied. I’m giving it three stars. The information is well-documented and Haney tells a straight-forward, chronological account. I think the book would have been better if Haney brought in more evidence to support his thesis instead of relying solely on his experiences. But I do understand he was trying to be careful to state only what he felt he could personally verify.

A must read for anyone who thinks our top tiered government is acting in our best interests. Well written and an eye opener. Thank you for confirming for those of us who have been called conspiracists that we are right! I cannot imagine how it feels to have all that information and be derailed in trying to get it out by the very people who are supposed to protect us! Thank you for your service and thank you for being the voice for so many Americans who are ridiculed for even thinking the things you wrote about!

A True Partiot

I served three years one active duty in the Army, including ten months in Viet Nam (1968-69). In addition, I retired from the Army National Guard in 2004. I've been aware of SHE's political correctness for a number of years but was obviously not aware that our government would go after one of its best analysts in order to shut him up.
I don't know how DHS can say they are protecting the American people when the use CAIR and other groups with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood as their advisors on what is to be taught to our law enforcement agencies. Again I've known about this for a number of years but not all the actors.

This should be required reading for every High School student.

Blowing the lid off tyranny of government

Service to country as a government employee has never been more restrictive than it is today. The "whistleblower" just might be our only salvation as a free country.

How long would a people be content to suffer outrageous violations by their rulers before they do something about it? And if they are so moved to take action, what would they do? Thomas Jefferson pursued that line of reasoning 240 years ago when, in the summer of 1776, he penned these words:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
The student of American history will recognize this as part of Jefferson’s reasoning in the Declaration of Independence. That was 240 years ago. What application, if any, does it have to Americans in the 21st century? Such a consideration requires some thought as to how the people should respond to a government that appears no longer to be acting in their best interests.
How do we know the United States Government is not acting in the best interests of the people? That is the testimony of Philip Haney, a recently retired Federal law enforcement officer of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Haney’s memoir, See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad, charts the tumultuous ordeal he endured for simply doing his job.
One might expect that an Arabic linguist and professional with decades of experience living among and working with Muslims in the Middle East would be highly capable at recognizing threats posed by radical Islam. One might also expect that the word of such a consummate professional would be taken seriously by law enforcement, intelligence, and diplomatic agencies charged with protecting the United States from such threats. Sadly, this was not always so in Haney’s case. From the moment of his affiliation with DHS at its establishment in 2003, Haney conscientiously applied his knowledge, skills, and experience to the task of identifying Islamist threats to this nation and its allies. His work received considerable praise from superiors and colleagues both within his own agency and other organizations. Haney’s ability to “connect the dots” of terrorist networks and those associated with them was so highly valued that he even received international recognition.
With such credentials one might expect that Philip Haney would be considered a national treasure of sorts, trustworthy to hold a position of great responsibility in the highest levels of DHS. But that is where the expectations run into the harsh reality of contemporary political correctness. Haney began to meet resistance as he charted the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood, noting its unmistakable goal of expanding the realm of Islam at the expense of Western democracies and all others in its path, and its connection with terrorist networks like Al Qaida and the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). That resistance progressed to censorship when the dots he connected revealed a path to Muslim organizations within the United States, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR. When he refused to back down, Haney became the subject of numerous investigations and career-damaging personnel actions, including a criminal investigation, all designed to keep him from fulfilling his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic.
It is a testimony to Haney’s character and patriotism that he continued to do his duty as faithfully as his circumstances would allow, believing that at some point someone with common sense would awaken to the existential threat insidiously at work within this nation. Regrettably, it was not to be. Soon after his retirement, he came to this heartbreaking conclusion:
[As] a CBP officer, I targeted the Muslim Brotherhood for nearly ten years, trying to warn DHS management and members of Congress that it was a dangerous movement, while the administration was supporting the Brotherhood at home and arming them in the Middle East.
Philip Haney, See Something, Say Nothing
Can this possibly be true? Are we to take Philip Haney at his word? As his friend and a fellow intelligence professional, I assure you the answer to both questions is yes. My career spanned three decades in the US Army and Federal Intelligence Community. It was in 2011, near the end of my career, that I had the great pleasure of meeting Philip and hearing his story. Over the next four years I observed as he endured the worst of his ordeal. All I could offer him at that time was a listening ear and a bit of counsel at how to handle the assaults thrown at him from those who should have been his greatest defenders. Now that he is able to tell his story, it is my honor and duty to alert the public to this shocking insider account.
What are we to do with this revelation? Much of that is yet to be seen. In this election year of 2016, there is perhaps a chance that an alerted American public may take action to restore genuine accountability to the government at all levels. My friend Philip Haney endured a tremendous ordeal to bring this word to the people of his nation. If that word translates into responsible action by an educated and concerned citizenry, then he would be the first to say that his sacrifices were but a small price to pay.

This book provides a clear discription of how both the Obama and Clinton administrations have been subverted by Sunni influence through Saudi Arabia's oil and power. That we now see the Bush family close to the Clintions and Obama, it is obvious that the connection goes back at least to Bush 41. No suprise as the Bush fortune is really based on oil. No wonder they are afraid of Trump. The Saudi 's don't control him.

This book is drivel. It is the 4th time I'm typing this review bc the app keeps changing the page I'm on, but I feel so strongly that this book is trash, I keep coming back. He doesn't know basic legal terms, like "UNindicted", doesn't mean "guilty". He cries he has to follow the Constitution, then cries when he thinks it isn't fairly being applied to himself. He ends it with a call to FURTHER expand government surveillance power and to "loosen the cuffs" on law enforcement. The author wrote only for a very specific audience and he did it well judging by the reviews, but not by a semi-informed, critical thinker that doesn't already think Muslims are the scariest thing on the planet.

Every book by a republican agent sounds like my five year old whining about piano practice. He made some valid points about liberal political correctness in lieu of safety and facts. Sadly the Deep Alt Right State will violently support every thing Trump does. Which is why in the Celestial Mormon heaven after the Trumpocalypse I'm going to fly to the terrestrial heaven to tell my unbaptized, Trump loving, heathen, brother, "TOLD YA!" Then I'm going to fly back to the cooler heaven on my own planet with my 57 wives where I'll reincarnate Donnie as a star nosed mole.

This book tells how our politicians are preventing our intelligence agencies from protecting the American public from terrorists. They are allowing Muslims with connections to terrorists groups to infiltrate government at the highest levels. The author, a man in a position to know, names names.

See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government's Submission to Jihad reminds me so much of the line from Star Wars paraphrased as "Islamists are NOT the terrorists you are lookin for...nothing to see here...move along." Author Philip Haney was a charter member of DHS (Department of Homeland Security) with previous experience in the Middle East and he gives his eyewitness insider account of the submission, denial, and deception of the US and other governments to redirect attention to terrorist attacks away from anything to do with Islamists for political correctness. They instead choose to focus on a generic category of terrorists ignoring blatant logical connections and even statements by the terrorists themselves that they consider themselves Islamic holy warriors. Beyond that, in order not to offend or provoke Muslims, they even invited them in to give them an inside look at what DHS was doing to fight terrorism sharing details of anti-terrorism operations. This policy evolution actually started under Bush and accelerated under Obama both of whom went overboard to assure Muslim organization leaders from CAIR and others including some known members of the Muslim Brotherhood, a known terrorist organization, that America is NOT at war with Islam. Many training programs and tactics were reviewed with these Muslim leaders who promptly told DHS to take out any references to Islam and Middle Easterners when screening people at airports, etc. The author presents information that was ignored that could have led to the prevention of some of the attacks carried out such as the Boston Marathon bombings. Any officials who took it upon themselves to raise concerns, as the author did, were ignored or even reassigned to areas where their warnings would be ignored, again meeting the required politically correctness to the detriment of US citizens. In effect, this book exposes the goal of radical Islamists to destroy western civilization from within using our own laws and naivete! This is a disturbing and eye-opening book about what many see happening but, due to government policy, cannot get anyone to seriously investigate. If you have concerns about the safety and security of America from terror groups who want to harm us and radically change our society and laws, you need to read this fact-laden book by an insider at DHS!

I have said it many times on social media and will continue to say it here; this is a must read. As someone who has been in the military (2001-2007), worked in law enforcement [on the state security level] (2007-2014), and moved into working EMS (2014-2017), and now working as a contractor for the U.S. Government…someone who has experienced what we were and what is now, seeing the signs back then ad restriction were ever increasing placed on us with continued “privilege” given to those undeserving, and how people had and were glowingly going to continue to get hurt…I cannot tell you enough how important it is to read this book if you love “These Untied States” while seeing/having cause and concern for what is happening.

With this book I found answers to questions I started asking asking back then, as well as seeing/feeling the effects to being able to “connect the dots” of how we got where we are as a nation (all of this was orchestrated and is still being so) forcibly brought down from the inside…………READ THIS BOOK!!

The reader needs to form their own opinion of the author's story. Some will see him a hero, others perhaps a self-designated whistle blower. The first sections of the book citing his honors and awards were likely deemed necessary to prove his credibility, but get a little tiresome. However, it's worth getting through those, though, in order to start really taking in the time line of events, with very good documentation of developments sometimes only a couple of weeks or a month apart. That some of the events in recent years could have been prevented, but were not because of government incompetency, foolishness or worse, is a serious assertion. His story is definitely worth a read for those interested in more perspective on how the federal government has dealt with Islamic groups and individuals since the September 11, 2001 attacks, and also before and after other events such as Benghazi, the bombing of the Boston Marathon, and the San Bernardino mass shootings.

This was a really interesting read. I really enjoyed this book. It shows how the customs and border patrol the department of homeland security and the Obama administration all actively try to obscure information that could have protected American lives. Phillip Haney, does a very meticulous job showing the events that he witnessed. This is a very insightful book if you want to learn about how terrorist groups interact with the US government, how the US government treats whistle blowers, and how American patriots are left with their hands tied due to lack of information. I recommend this book.

Co-authored with journalist Art Moore, the subtitle of Haney’s book A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad puts it in a nutshell. The details of how radical Islamic terror was embraced, supported, and covered up for by the Obama administration are nothing less than eye-opening. Haney documents his work as an immigration and security officer assigned to keep an eye open for potential threats to the security of America and its people. But when he reported on potential Islamic terrorist threats to the country, he was ignored and even targeted—administratively and legally—to silence him.

See something, say nothing was quite frankly the motto before Trump. The amount of shady people running the government under Obama and terrible treatment of whistleblowers will be historic in Future's hindsight. I'm beginning to think America should always vote for obnoxious people like Trump that the phony news media hates. ;) Otherwise, they'd remain silent like they did during the 8 previous scandal ridden years of Obama's administration, which at the end of, in their typical lying fashion they conveniently called a scandal free presidency.

Haney wrote this book in 2016. They say he committed suicide in 2016. Recent articles quote close contacts/ politicians saying he was murdered.

During his work for Dept of Homeland Security he linked individuals to organizations involved in terrorism activities. He connected govt individuals to the Muslim Brotherhood which has known activities in the Middle East and Northern Africa.

Haney’s work was scrutinized by his leadership and reportedly investigated nine times. As an eventual whistleblower, he provides an eye opening view.

Everyone should read this book. Haney is a no-frills, tell-the-truth, man. He has quantitative support and actual experience to support his views. Terrorism is a relatively new phenomenon to our country and he was able to ascertain a great deal of information before it became a political football. Some of the facts he reveals will force you to doubt much of what we're told and wonder what we don't know.

Not that easy of a read because of all the names, government departments, etc... but he documents very well all that happened to him and his discovery of how the Government was colluding with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Creepy reading about the dysfunctionality of our government. A devoted patriot with a great heart.

This book really is an eye-opener about how the higher-up political leaders who are elected up into power uphold the constitution of America and keep the citizens safe. Have no time for ordinary people working on the ground and know the danger of political and radical Islam to America and its freedoms. If anything political correctness has under-minded the security of America and the rest of the world. Indeed from reading this book it's a wonder that there has not been another major terrorist attack in America again.
