A collection of the first three Dark Queens books! This set will only be up for a very limited time, so make sure to grab your copy now!
The Sea Queen-
Calypso, Queen of the Seas, is mad. Spitting mad. Ghosts of the dead are fouling her waters. She wants this problem fixed, and she wants it fixed now. Rushing off in search of Hades, Lord of the Underworld, to demand answers, she's soon shocked to discover him bound and standing trial before a jury of his peers--for nothing less than murder.
Calypso normally despises the beastly gods, all of them, but there's something about seeing Hades bound as he is that gives her an evilly clever idea. Tired of being a virgin queen, she wishes to shed that boring image once and for all, and no one seems quite as fit for the task as the gorgeous and brooding Hades. Of course, there is the minor problem of murder to deal with, but Calypso is bound and determined to have her way.
And when a dark queen gets an idea, nothing and no one can stand in her way...
The Passionate Queen-
Once upon a time a dragon dared to fall in love with the Queen of Hearts...
Zelena Hermosa wants only one thing, to be free. But for a morphling like her freedom will never be possible. Bought by a witch as a baby, she's been raised in a household that knows no kindness or love. She's a broken, dirty child the day she meets her prickly little dragon boy.
Ragoth Nur, heir to the throne of Drakon has just stolen a golden apple from Zeus's favored orchard. In order to make sure he doesn't have to face the wrath of the gods (but especially his mom) he runs off to wonderland to enjoy his treat and there bumps into the human girl who will change the course of his life forever.
There's so much more to the Queen of Heart's than the stories. So much more than the vindictive woman who shouts, "Off with her heads." This is the true story of the woman, the legend, and the myth...
The Ice Queen-
Long ago, tragedy struck and turned a young woman into the ice queen of legend...
Evil has come to Luminesa's forest. The Goblin has stolen three innocents and thrust them into a violent and terrible time loop - in her own lands. And the only way to save them is to go to them herself. But there's a problem, because the moment Luminesa steps foot inside that magicked place she too will get sucked into the Goblin's nefarious scheme. Freedom can only be had if she can figure out the riddle of the key, and she only has one month to try. Failure means death for them all.
There is absolutely no time or room for romance, but that's exactly what happens when she first sets eyes on the centaur male, Alador. Luminesa's been burned in love before, nearly losing her life to the hands of a crazed male she'd once thought a friend. Since that night she's hated men, all men, no matter what form they come in. But Alador is different, kind, gentle...with soulful green eyes that seem to peer through the icy veil of her legend to see the real woman beneath. His touch makes her burn, and his kisses make her feel alive again.
Luminesa will do everything in her power, to make sure they all leave there alive. Even if that means killing anything that stands in her way...
I can't believe I'm doing this but it's a DNF for me. I just can't get into the characters and it feels way too centered on sex for me (which is saying a lot, I enjoy erotica just fine). I have always enjoyed Jovee Winters and hope it's just me not being in the right mood or something
I gave up at chapter 7 of the first book. It's basically soft pornography, lots of sex and talk about sex, but no substance to the characters, and no real story line to speak of.
I love Ms. Winter’s twist on these tales. She makes something unique and new while at the same time, allowing it to remain comfortable and as welcoming as your favorite place to snuggle up and read. I’m eagerly awaiting the next in the series.
This trilogy was a unique look at the evil queens in our mythology. Under the right circumstances, even the villain can have a happily ever after. 4 stars for typos.
The collection as a whole was well written. I'm writing about what I thought of the story individuality by their "nicknames".
Sea Queen: I felt it went too fast but that doesn't mean I was lost in the story or characters. I liked how each character even the supporting casts, were given a background for better understanding, in my mind, of their actions. Calypso made me laugh out loud at some of her expressions, Hades was the ideal emo boyfriend. Calypso wasn't afraid to show her power to those that deserved it. I like reading about women like that. Of course it was great, that it had a happy ending.
Queen of Hearts: First book that I've read having a dragon as hero. Felt too long too while reading it however it gave a nice explanation of "Off with their heads". I was sad at how Lena was treated and angry at Lena for not thinking she's better than where she is and to just leave. The author did a great job of having me feel for the her. It took years, but again I'm happy it had a ever after.
Snow Queen: Still a good story but a little dramatic. Surprised me with a centaur lead though, because I haven't come across stories/novels that had a centaur as a heroic lead. I wanted to kick or torture the Under Goblin. He played his part well. Personally, it would have been justified if the Snow Queen did a little butt kicking. She was the only one out of the 3 Queens, that didn't do much with her powers regarding getting even. I think.
I have bought all three books seperately and loved them all, so you are in for a real treat when you get this box (and make a sale on top of it!).
If you like sexy fantasy, fairy tales for grown-ups and legends of old with a cool spin, then you are right where you want to be here. If you like deep, quirky characters you can fall in love with - here's where you find them. Each of the Queens is so very different but each managed to trap my heart and make me root for them and their heros, where The Sea Queen is hilariously, laughing-out-loud funny, the Passionate Queen is romantic to sigh for and the Ice Queen so tragic, it really made my heart bleed. If you love a background world that opens up in front of you, vividly painted with a loving hand and an eye for details that is really astonishing sometimes, if you want to live in a story and see it all around you, this is the box to buy.
Okay, I am gushing but I am sure you will too after reading this stories and want more as I want more. And there is! The Wild Queen is already out and I hope she won't be the last of the Dark Queens... or at least there will be more stories in the same world, as I came to love Kingdom so much, I need to get back there again and again and again!
I adored every fairy tale in this trilogy and how they linked up! I laughed uproariously at an ancient Goddess trying to use nowadays slang terms! I couldn't put it down! It was perfect pairing of souls. Who doesn't want their soulmate? Everyone loves a happily ever after don't they? Even if you have a good cry before the end? I sure did. The characters for the most part you have heard of before. But this side of the personality the author gives them is unmatched. She is writing bewitching tales of Fairytale Queens. I love the men that were paired up with them too. Some new, some not. All of them well thought out and three dimensional. As well as their collective homes. You have no trouble envisioning what ever setting your reading! Fabulous attention to detail. I highly recommend it! 6 stars!
We all know about the stories about the the good side but what about the dark side. What made the Dark Queens be dark. Yet what I love about these stories is how for some what may change them.
I promise I will not tell you what happens, that would be cruel to ruin it for you. But what I will say is that I did not want to put the book down. I just kept turning the page or kept saying...:"just one more section" Of course this would turn into seeing the sun rise. Good thing I do not work so you are now fore warned. If you work, read this on the weekend and hopefully you will have finished this before Sunday night. (giggles)
I bought these 3 as individuals so it's fantastic to see them available as a set. My understanding is that their are more to come and I really cannot wait. Jovee Winters is a fantastic writer, she has spun a world into being that is amazing, beautiful and deeply enticing. Some might consider this to be fairytales for adults and some might consider it Chick Lit but truly these stories are so much more. The kingdom stories offer an insight into the deeper stories. I was totally absorbed from the first Kingdom book I read and I am absolutely certain that I'll be along for the whole journey :-)
I love these books. I've read them before but picked up the books so I could have them for myself to read again. I love the characters, the worlds they live in and each of their stories. I love reading Fairy Tales with a twist and Jovee does that in spades! She keeps you guessing and hoping for the "Dark Queens" and "bad guys" the entire time. Drawing you in and carrying you along with their tears, their fears, their trials and their joys. It is a familiar world with a twist. I can't put the books down and she keeps me coming back for more! I really do love these books!
This series of books takes the reader on a wonderful backstage look at the queens of our favorite fairy tales. These ladies often get a bad wrap in the familiar tales, but have you ever wondered how our favorite villains came to be so bad, and what happened to them after the tales we know ended....
These booked fill in those blanks with a fun ride with many unexpected twists and turns along the way.
I am definitely hooked on this series, and I can't wait to meet our next queen!!
This twist on the dark queens out of our fairy tales really caught my interest. Once I got started on the first book, 'The Sea Queen', I knew I couldn't resist reading them all. The other books in this collection include 'The Passionate Queen' (the Queen of Hearts) and 'The Ice Queen. Jovee Winters has created a totally new take on these queens. There are more books in this series and I am looking forward to reading them.
This set of books is wonderful. It give a whole new look to the "evil" queens you thought you knew. I love hope the author included some of the characters from previous books that I have already read. I highly recommend these books for anyone who believes in true love.
This collection is some of the best stories I have ever read. They are in turn funny and touching. I can't wait to read the others that come after this collection. I would recommend this series of stories to any adult readers. They are truly enchanting.
A wonderful boxed set. So glad I chose to buy it. Loved all three books and can't wait to read the fourth and fifth books, The Magic Queen and The Dark Queen. Looking forwards to more of the series being released.
Loved these books! Calypso made me laugh. The Red Queen reminded me that we can all change and be better. The Ice Queen was all about hope. Definitely recommend these to anyone looking for something fabulous and magical to read.
I enjoyed these books. I liked the nearness to the fairy tales with the feel of background to the newer stories. Lovely work. I cried at the end of ice queen. Surprised me that did that...usually not that heavily invested. Nice writing.
Not a cliffhanger. An actual complete set. A must read. Honestly. Download this set!! One of the few sets I have that you don't have to buy more books to add to it
I enjoyed the first book the most and would rate it a 4. The other 2 books were a 2 for me. I just could not get into the storylines. I was also aggravated by the overuse of the word "discombobulated". I'm not sure why, but it caused some serious eye rolling.
Absolutely loved it!!! What a great take on the evil queens of the fairytales!!! Hot and steamy romances. It goes to show that the so called evil queens can have a fairy tale ending too!!!
the set was free, so there's not too much to complain about... but there are complaints. the 3rd book has absolutely nothing to do with the 1st two. the 2nd is the best of three. they all feel like trashy romance novels with mythology & whatnot thrown in
