Me gusta mucho la ambientacion en la Roma Antigua y el Circo Romano con luchadores tan especiales como un humano, un dragon, un Minotauro. Ansio leer el segundo volumen.

Un manga genial que gustará a todo aquel amante de la fantasía y de cómics como Berserk. En una época donde el imperio romano batalla cruelmente para imponer su dictadura a los semihumanos(dragones, gigantes, duendes, centauros, grifos y más bestias), un gladiador y un grupo de amigos se enfrentarán al poder de un imperio.
Una trama muy chula y un dibujo colosal para un manga que se lee como el agua.

Mengambil seting awal digdayanya bangsa Romawi. Ketika bala tentara Roma menyerbu seluruh dataran Eropa, Asia, dan Afrika hingga kesudut-sudutnya. Bangsa yg menurut rumor sejarah, tidak hanya menakhlukan sesama manusia, namun juga menumpas habis makhluk-makhluk mitologi. Suatu cerita mengenai keluarga yang begitu hangat, namun juga berselubungkan kegagahan para prajurit manusia dan pejuang mitologi beserta pengorbanan mereka, juga kebengisan penguasa saat itu.

Ceritanya ada 2 part: Manusia dengan naga sama manusia dan minotaur. No romance. Jadi nggak perlu khawatir mengenai spesies mutan :D Vol.1 ini, murni bertemakan pengorbanan, ikatan kekeluargaan antar makhluk beda ras, dan bagaimana rokoh utama bisa menjadi kuat karenanya.
Saya sangat suka dengan plot ceritanya yg hangat. Memang mengangkat 2 cerita dengan tokoh utama yg berbeda. Tapi pinternya, si penulis juga memberi benang merah yg lumayan tebal untuk menghubungkan 2 cerita itu sehingga bisa kerasa lumayan seru dan bikin hati 'deg' gituu^o^)/
Tapi sayangnya,, untuk yg ceritanya Durandal the Wyvern dan Fin si mas matjho, udah dikasik sinopsis akhir hidup mereka :'( Padahal kan saya udah terlanjur jatuh hati bangetttt (T︵T)
Terus,, harus saya taruh di mana hati ini sekarangg??
Untuk yg suka makhluk mitologi dan kisah2 gladiator di masa pemerintahan si Vespariusngengg ngengg, ini komik wajib koleksihh!! Berharap volume 2nya bisa lebih greget dari vol.1 ini :)

Ya os trajimos otra obra del mismo autor también de formato de manga, pero esta vez es de género fantástico y shonen. Está ambientada en la antigua Roma pero intercala elementos fantásticos como dragones, minotauros u orcos, donde existen dos naciones: la humana y la de las bestias. El Imperio Romano quiere exterminar a la segunda y mata a cualquier de esos seres que se ponga por delante de sus tropas, al menos para hacerle esclavo o bestiario.
Este manga cuenta dos historias, la de Finn un joven bestiario entrenado por el último soldado Guiverno (un dragón), el cual asesinó al padre del chico durante una batalla. Y por otro lado está la historia de Zeno, un humano, y su hermano mayor, Taros, un minotauro, a los cuales las tropas romanas asesinaron a su familia y ahora cuentan los combates que tienen que realizar para conseguir la libertad.

I knew I was going to suffer with this short manga series the moment I saw the cover of the first tome (this one) and while I've only read this start...my heart is already smashed and hurt and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
The story is very bittersweet. It has wholesome characters and their relationships but also doesn't hide the dark and hurtful tone of itself.
It's a short read, but emotionally heavy and I love it.

So, Bestiarus doesn’t start out badly. The narrative begins with an interesting multi-perspective approach, where several mini-stories and protagonists eventually converge toward a single plotline. It also features a Roman Empire setting rarely seen in Japanese comic, with an intriguing mix of history and medieval fantasy. There are stunning depiction of the Coliseum, fantastical creatures and epic showdowns, courtesy of Masasumi Kakizaki’s customarily excellent art work. But then, everything really only boils down to this:
Poor good people tortured by bad people.
That’s it, that’s the whole plot right there. To be fair, it’s not a sin by itself, especially considering the setting and themes. The real problem? It’s not particularly well-executed. There’s an overreliance on instant tear-jerking moments, when things get a bit too melodramatic and the characters too one-dimensional for my taste. Kakizaki is also too fond of cheap tropes and employing them in the most unimaginative way possible, as reflected by the evil cartoonish villains whose greatest power is one of the Most Annoying Plot Devices™ ever invented in the history of fiction…..
……GODDAMN BRAINWASH.
Still, it’s not all bad. The comic does have the weighty themes of racism and voyeurism, and not all of the emotional moments miss the mark, even if there’s near lack of subtlety in the delivery. The art is easily the high point as well, making it a bit easier to stomach the more asinine parts of the plot when you can almost smell the blood and tears from the on-page intensity. Kakizaki admitted in his author’s note that he didn’t have much reference point in drawing mythical beasts, but the wyvern, minotaur, and gladiator all look mighty fine to me.
I assume the story’s continuation will eventually heads into a cathartic resolution (hopefully with 100% less brainwashing), but I have a hard time seeing the delivery ever gets much more interesting than this. As it is, Bestiarius is the kind of work that magnifies its author’s characteristics in the best—and worst—way possible.

Tapi...daya tarik kovernya sulit ditolak~ (≧◡≦) naga!!
Tenyata Durandal yang disebut-sebut di sinopsisnya adalah ras wyvern yang masih masuk keluarga besarnya naga dan hewan-hewan keren lainnya~
Gambar : 8.5 bintang! o(≧▽≦)o Aku suka sih gambar Kakizaki-sensei.., dan di sini semakin terlihat mempesona karena setting jaman Romawi, plus makhluk-makhluk fantasi ^ ^
Cerita : 4.5 bintang...tadinya aku udah siap-siap menghadapi tragedi, "Ah, ini pasti mati semua nih~" tapi ternyata
Cerita yang penuh darah dan kasih sayang antar "keluarga", tanpa mempermasalahkan hubungan darah (o^-^o)

Jadi ini cerita tentang pertarungan atau tentang keluarga? Drama keluarganya berasa banget... *gigit bantal*
Ah, yang manapun itu.. aku sangat menikmatinya! Tidak se-dark karya sebelumnya (ini jelas), dan jujur ada bagian yang bikin bingung... Tapi cerita tentang keluarga... Apalagi cerita dari dua ras yang berbeda, bikin afsfhsfah. Dan gambar Masasumi Kakizaki-sensei tidak pernah mengecewakanku!
Ps: suka banget adegan sewaktu Talos kecil, dengan tampang imut bilang "Jangan sakiti adikku" (kalimatnya kalo ga salah gini).
Ps lagi: saya... hampir make kacamata khusus di kedua cerita di komik ini XDD

Al principio parecía un punto medio entre un Shonen y Seinen, al final del tomo el autor explica que efectivamente fue pensado como un Shonen y publicado en una revista de esa demografía.
Por ahora, se presentaron dos historias de lazos entre un humano y una bestia, y cómo puede existir una relación de padre e hijo ó una hermandad sin que estos compartan sangre. En poco tiempo logré encariñarme con los personajes principales, sobre todo con Durandal, el último gran guiverno.
El dibujo es excelente, a tal punto que las personas de las gradas tienen más detalle que un pj principal de muchas otras obras. El diseño de las bestias, los detalles... no tiene sentido. También, me encanta los ángulos que utiliza, se nota su inspiración en el cine.
La edición de Ivrea es hermosa, creo que es el primer tanko que compro que tiene páginas a color al principio (en papel ilustración) y a mitad del tomo. Una lástima que no haya salido en A5, mínimo en B6, sería orgásmico.

Ambientada en la era de dominio del imperio romano, donde se lo presenta con un ejército todopoderoso, implacable en toda Europa, con el agregado de criaturas mitológicas y fantásticas como minotauros, dragones y orcos.
En este primer tomo hay dos historias autónomas con algún personaje en común y sin conexión de momento.
Gladiadores esclavos en fraternidad con alguna bestia luchando por la libertad a cualquier costo salvo el honor y el lazo inexplicable que los une.
Kakizaki dibuja con alto rigor histórico, uniformes, arquitectura. Las criaturas también tienen un nivel de detalle tal que si tengo que observar un punto negativo es que es una pena que esté editado en el formato más pequeño posible. La calidad y los detalles serían mucho más apreciables en tamaño mayor.

4,5/5 uniquement en comparaison à Green Blood (oui je sais c'est pas bien de comparer!) que j'ai préféré. Mais ça reste un EXCELLENT manga. A lire sans hésiter !!

Je n'ai vraiment pas accroché aux dessins beaucoup trop fouillis/violents/chargés à mon goût.
Le mélange historique et Fantasy n'est également pas trop ma tasse de thé.

Inhalt
Als Gladiator beweist Finn seine Fähigkeiten im fortwährenden Kampf, doch er träumt nur von der Freiheit, die er so schmerzlich vermisst. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters wurde er als Sklave genommen – doch in Rom erwartete ihn der Drache Durandal, sein Freund und Mentor. Während die Mythenwesen von Rom in die Knie gezwungen werden, findet Finn in Durandal eine neue Familie – doch kann er sich den Weg in die Freiheit erkämpfen?
Meine Bewertung
Wie, ein Manga? Ja, eigentlich ist das auch nicht so meine Ecke. Aber „Bestiarius“ klang einfach zu verlockend, da ich den Mix aus dem antiken Griechenland mit Fantasygeschöpfen sehr spannend fand. Dementsprechend habe ich mich mal rangewagt und den Manga aus dem Hause Egmont getestet. Allerdings bleibe ich etwas zwiegespalten zurück.
Der Zeichenstil ist auf jeden Fall sehr bildgewaltig und detaillastig. Obwohl ich das sehr gern mochte, hat es mir an manchen Stellen doch Schwierigkeiten bereitet, wenn die einzelnen Bilder zu klein waren und die Illustrationen so überdetailliert, dass ich im Endeffekt einfach kaum noch etwas erkennen konnte, weil die Striche alles eingenommen haben und Figuren kaum voneinander abzugrenzen waren. Allerdings haben die Zeichnungen auf jeden Fall die Geschichte getragen und ihr einiges an Emotionen verliehen, was ich wiederum positiv empfand. Die Absichten der Charaktere wurden meist schon auf den ersten Blick klar.
Die Geschichte … Ja, die war zwischendurch auch etwas verwirrend für mich. Wie bereits erwähnt befinden wir uns in einem antiken Setting in Rom (absoluter Pluspunkt!), wo es Gladiatorenkämpfe (yay!) gibt. Doch das römische Reich erobert nicht nur menschliche Gebiete, sondern auch die verschiedenster Fantasywesen. Dadurch bekommt es schließlich auch den Drachen Durandal in seine Klauen, der fortan zum Mentor und Trainer von Finn, einem jungen Sklaven wird, der sich aus der Arena freikämpfen will. Die Beziehung zwischen den beiden nimmt einen großen Teil der ersten Mangahälfte ein und hat mir auch sehr gut gefallen, wobei ich das Gefühl hatte, dass da nur sehr wenig Handlung und mehr Vorgeschichte dahintersteckte.
Was mich aber auch verwundert hat, war die Spaltung des Mangas. Etwa ab der Hälfte bricht Finns Geschichte ab, dafür gibt es einen Zeitsprung zurück und man erfährt die Geschichte des Kämpfers Xeno. Wie dieser schließlich mit Durandal verbunden ist, erklärt zwar Durandals Ansichten, hat mich aber ziemlich aus der Bahn geworfen, weil ich das zunächst gar nicht zuordnen konnte. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass mir Xenos Geschichte sogar besser gefallen hat als Finns, und ich hoffe, dass sie im nächsten Band aufeinandertreffen, denn das wäre wohl ein ziemlich cooles Ereignis.
Die Antagonisten in beiden Geschichten fand ich eher schwach und extrem stereotyp. Die Motive waren klar, aber die Schwarz-Weiß-Zeichnung der ganzen Charaktere in diesem Manga hat mich irgendwann doch ein wenig genervt. Es gibt quasi nur gut und böse, Graustufen nicht wirklich.
Alles in allem war „Bestiarius“ ein nettes Leseerlebnis zwischendurch, doch ich bin noch unsicher, ob ich den nächsten Band holen werden. Trotz einiger Schwierigkeiten haben mir die Story und vor allem die Verbindungen unter den Charakteren gut gefallen, auch wenn ich manchmal Schwierigkeiten hatte, richtig zu folgen. Wer auf blutige historische Settings gemischt mit Fantasy und viel Detailtreue steht, wird hier sein Freude haben, es war allerdings nicht ganz mein Fall.

Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass mir Xenos Geschichte sogar besser gefallen hat als Finns, und ich hoffe, dass sie im nächsten Band aufeinandertreffen, denn das wäre wohl ein ziemlich cooles Ereignis.
Die Antagonisten in beiden Geschichten fand ich eher schwach und extrem stereotyp. Die Motive waren klar, aber die Schwarz-Weiß-Zeichnung der ganzen Charaktere in diesem Manga hat mich irgendwann doch ein wenig genervt. Es gibt quasi nur gut und böse, Graustufen nicht wirklich.
Alles in allem war „Bestiarius“ ein nettes Leseerlebnis zwischendurch, doch ich bin noch unsicher, ob ich den nächsten Band holen werden. Trotz einiger Schwierigkeiten haben mir die Story und vor allem die Verbindungen unter den Charakteren gut gefallen, auch wenn ich manchmal Schwierigkeiten hatte, richtig zu folgen. Wer auf blutige historische Settings gemischt mit Fantasy und viel Detailtreue steht, wird hier sein Freude haben, es war allerdings nicht ganz mein Fall.

Prošle godine imao sam priliku da se upoznam sa radom Kakizakija, uz jednodelnu mangu - Skrovište. Zbog pozitivnih utisaka, tada sam odlučio da sakupljam i Bestijarijus.
Bestijarijus je manga istorijske fantastike. Predstavlja nešto što se malo redje pojavljuje na sceni, pa je osveženje i neobično iskustvo čitati je. Radnja je smeštena u vreme Rima. Medjutim, ovaj Rim se razlikuje od nama poznatog. Ovde pored ljudi žive i čudovišta, kao i mnoga magična i mitološka bića.
U ovom Rimu siročad, robovi i čudovišta se šalju u koloseume gde se bore za život. Pobeda donosi obrok tog dana, gubitak donosi smrt.
Zanimljivo je da je po rečima autora, ovo delo je nastalo za otprilike dva dana. Za potrebe jednog časopisa za omladinu, autor je imao kratak rok da smisli sve. Plod svega toga je Bestijarijus.
Mogu vam reći da je taj brzopleti proces stvaranja urodio plodom. Kakizaki je stvorio neverovatnu priču. Crteži su apsolutno fantastični, što je ono po čemu je on i poznat. Sve scene su odlično nacrtane, počevši od borbi pa do svega ostalog. Obiluju detaljima, veštinom i iskustvom.
Scenario je takodje vrlo dobar. Od samog početka me zainteresovao. Imamo sve što može privući čitaoce. Od emotivnih scena, do scena borbi, krvavih okršaja, pa do onih scena gde osetite bespomoćnost likova i brutalnost protivničke strane. Ovo je manga koja uspešno poveže čitaoce sa likovima.
Što se detaljnije radnje tiče, nakon ova dva tankobona još uvek nije sve najjasnije. Pratimo Fina, talentovanog mladog gladijatora, koji se bori u koloseumu. Fina je odgajio poslednji živi Vivern. Medjutim, u pozadini je zapravo jedna tajna vezana za Viverna koja kasnije izadje na videlo.
Kasnije pratimo još likova čije su sudbine takodje promenjene dolaskom Rima i njihove moćne legije.
Gde Rim prodje, ne ostavlja preživele. Gde Rim prodje, ne ostavlja svedoke. Preživelo dete će porasti i želeti da osveti selo.

Very interesting story set in amalgamation of fantasy and real world - this is place where Rome conquers the countries of Europe but land is full not just of humans but of magical beings like Elves, Orcs, Wyverns, Minotaurs and various dreadful monsters that could easily fit into Warhammer universe :)
Art is great, very detailed and I have to agree with some of the reviews that it is very reminiscent of the Berserker style. As such it is very dynamic, and clear - there are no "smudges" to indicate dynamics (equivalent to cinema shaky-camera effect) and one can truly enjoy in the depiction of movement and brutality of the fight. While talking of brutality this is blood and gore story, there is lots of violence, but again this all should not come as surprise considering the Berserker comparison.
We follow two gladiators - Fin and Zeno - both thrown into slavery and then trained to be "entertainers" in the bloody gladiatorial sport. Zeno and his brother, Minotaur Taros are brought as slaves into Rome following the conquest of Crete. Soon they will find themselves fighting the Rome in form of rebellion inside and outside of colosseum. Intertwined with this story is story of Fin, son of fallen Roman legionnaire who gets trained by Durandal, last of the Wyvern from Britain (presumably Wales) and finally becomes a legend and symbol of resistance against the Rome. Story sets up lots of things, people and places, by the looks of it for the rest of the series.
All in all very interesting, action oriented story with interesting characters, both heroes and villains.
Highly recommended to action and fantasy fans.

Claro está despues tienen un combate muy especial, donde la señora Ariadna, hará luchar a su hermano, minotauro, del cual se llama Taros, contra el general q mato a su padre, Centurión Sextus, con Zeno mirando desde el altar, como humillan a su hermano y terminando su libertad ayudando a Taros, finalmente Taros y Zeno son montados en el lomo de Durandal y escapan de Roma.

Bestiarius es un manga en donde se mezcla combates de gladiadores con bestias mitológicas y monstruos propios de la fantasía medieval. No solo hay mantícoras y minotauros que son propios de los mitos griegos y romanos, sino que también hay orcos y trolls, como en el Señor de los Anillos. El tema subyacente de este primer volumen, es la relación de ciertos humanos con ciertos monstruos y que la familia no la hace la sangre sino la crianza. La ilustración está muy bien, pero la historia es más o menos predecible. Los buenos son muy nobles y muy arrojados, y por supuesto, son los mejores en lo que hacen; y los malos son muy malos y hasta tienen cara de malos. Sin embargo, lo estoy leyendo en francés y me parece muy bien para practicar porque el vocabulario es bastante sencillo y todo se entiende muy bien porque las ilustraciones tienen mucho peso y son muy dinámicas.

Gladiadores romanos, solo que en lugar de pelear contra otros gladiadores o humanos, pelean con demihumanos y monstruos, minotauros, ogros, wyverns, mantícoras, etc.
Buen dibujo, historia interesante buen giro al tema de gladiadores romanos.
Dos historias.
En la primera Fynn que es entrenado por un Wyvern, y que como se vuelve bueno peleando, lo hacen pelear con el Wyvern, a quien el considera su padre.
En la segunda, capturados siendo niños, un niño humano y un niño minotauro, que son hermanos, obligados a ser gladiadores.
Buen dibujo, historia interesante buen giro al tema de gladiadores romanos.

Nice and detailed art style that helps convey the gruesome nature of the story. And I do like that they help convey this hopeless attitude which fits with setting. As it kind of reminds me of Gladiator and I do like the twist that instead of fighting wild animals they fight mythical creatures. The story is harsh as even when the characters have a victory it feels like a hollow one which is fitting because this is set during the peak of the Roman Empire.

C'est très beau, c'est très bon, par contre je n'aime pas trop le côté on suit deux personnages pendant quelques chapitres puis le même genre d'histoire avec deux autres personnages, j'espère qu'on retrouvera les premiers dans la suite...

Tomber par hasard dessus, j'ai commandé les 7 tomes sans vraiment savoir quoi m'attendre et bien franchement j'ai dévoré les tomes 2 fois et je sent que je ne vais pas tarder à relire une 3ème fois cette série.

Interesante historia de fantasía ambientada en la Roma imperial. En este manga veremos historias de gladiadores humanos luchando contra criaturas mitológicas. Los dibujos son muy buenos y la historia no está muy vista. Por lo que a los fans de la Roma imperial es muy recomendable.

Sentimientos encontrados con este manga, por un lado tenemos unos dibujos detallados y diseño de personajes buenos pero por el otro tenemos la trama más mediocre y cliché que pudieras encontrar. Lamentable que tanto detalle sea opacado por un checklist de clichés.

Très sympa, l'histoire est accrocheuse et le design est vraiment immersif. C'est plutôt drôle car je trouve que Finn et Zenon ont des têtes très caractéristiques du style graphique manga qui dénote du coup un peu avec ce qu'il y a autour.
