She's a vampire. He's human and the best investigative reporter in the city. Their worlds mix as well as oil and water, but their attraction to each other is electric. His workaholic tendencies can't completely mask the broken, depressed man he is inside. The horrific night that changed his life forever and left him broken-hearted and alone is forever fresh in his thoughts. But the torture is no less than he deserves. Until a beautiful, sexy, and utterly mysterious woman enters his life and changes everything. Chelle is absolutely enchanting, her allure captivating and the reporter in him is determined to learn all of her secrets. Newly turned vampire Chelle Masterson only wants to find her place. Her unrequited love and devotion for her maker Lane has left Chelle broken, vowing to never fall for any man again. She's determined to find her way in the scary new world of the immortals and begs for the chance to prove herself--to prove that she's capable of surviving without the others. Unfortunately, she meets trouble head-on with her very first victim and ends up face to face with a very charming and handsome stranger. He seems to only want to help, but can she trust him? As Josh slowly wins Chelle over, she decides to utilize his skills as a reporter to help uncover her past--a dark past that she cannot remember, but one she desperately needs to learn. Being around him is addicting, their connection undeniable, and she finds her will to keep him at arm's-length dwindling. The simple act of a Good Samaritan spirals into an obsession--much more than either of them thought possible. Their love becomes unfathomable, but it may not be enough to overcome the hurdles standing in their way...

It's been a while since I've read a book by Susan Griscom, I've always been a fan of her work. Captivated by a Vampire was a joy to read. I really loved Lane and fell for his character although his role was as prominent as I would have liked it to be but I guess that just means I need to hurry up and get to book three to read more about him. So many secrets revolve around Chelle and Josh some known and so many unknown, once revealed their world is turned upside down. However their friends are there along the way to help them through each obstacle. I really enjoyed reading this story and I know I need to go back and read book one and find out more about Mags and Cian and I need to know what happens with Lane. If you're like me and a die hard vampire fan this this is the book for you. Once you start you'll want the whole series.

Note: This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
This author has a way of getting you to like a book then giving you the second one to make you like the next one more. This is exactly what happened to me. I read Tempted By a Vampire and really, really liked it. But then I get my hands on this baby and love this story even more! This story is about Chelle and Josh. We meet Chelle in Tempted and she is the one that Lane turned into a vampire...not by choice. Chelle and Lane have lots of history and Chelle is finally getting out on her own. Josh is an investigative journalist, and a mere human, that is given an assignment that has him questioning himself. When Chelle and Josh meet they have strong connection. As things unfold, Chelle starts remembering her past, her parents, and the circumstances surrounding her parents death. As these things come to light she and Josh start confiding in each other and find that their pasts aren’t so different and they are more alike than they thought. Now they have to figure out if they can be good for each other. But this is not where this story ends. Not even close! There is a ginormous twist that will make your head spin and is absolutely worth the read. When you get to this part, you will understand completely what I mean.

“I’d never asked for the life I was handed. Not the one growing up, or the one I had now. If that’s what you could call it. In order for there to be life, there must be death. I suppose I’ve already had both. This life now, I don’t know exactly what to call it. Undead existence, I suppose. But it is, what it is. I’m happy that I still have some sort of life. F**king Lane.”

“I smiled against her sweet, pale cheek and sighed. She may not be forcing me to stay, but I was most definitely her prisoner , bound not by ropes or shackles, and not against my will, but by the pure, unrelenting desire I felt for her . I was a goner. I’d always be forever in love with her. “Woman, you are going to be the death of me.”

There is this perfect balance of love and hate. It’s full of bada$$ery and is soooooooo HOT! A MUST READ!

I love stories about “good” vampires. I really enjoyed Cian and Mags story from Tempted by a Vampire and was thrilled that the next story is about Chelle. It was interesting learning what she went through as a newly turned vampire at a young age after traumatically losing her parents as a child. The story starts when she is celebrating her 21st birthday and still struggling to have some independence from Lane, her maker. Let’s just say, he wasn’t the best maker and she was turned under a bad circumstance.

Haunted by the murder of her parents when she was a young child, Chelle can’t quite remember the whole incident. She seeks out Josh, the reporter who was Mags boss in the first book, hoping he can help her find out what really happened to her parents. Turns out Josh is fighting his own nightmares of a girlfriend brutally killed in front of him.

Josh & Chelle are instantly attracted to each other embarking on a passionate relationship without really learning much about each other. This changes as truths are revealed. Several interesting twists keep the story going with an awesome resolution.

I’m anxiously awaiting the next book to learn about Lane and Vanessa’s story.

"Whatever you want, baby. I'm yours. I've been yours since that very first night when you captivated me with your beauty. "
I know this book is a standalone yet part of a series of related books, but I think this book blew the first one out of the water. Yes it's the same author. Some of the same characters. The same setting but this one I was by far my favorite. Chelle just something so alluring about her. She is just so captivating. I adored her fight, her spunk, her sexy no holds bar attitude. This bad ass chic won't let anything or anyone break own her. I love characters that are strong and independent, they don't need anyone. These are the ones who truly can love. Chelle's love and compassion compares to no other.
When you love with your whole heart the sex is mind blowing. Mrs. Griscom definitely knows how to turn the heat level up. I found myself devouring this book in a matter of hours. I am highly anticipating the next book in The Immortal Hearts series

Wow what a great read, I enjoyed Chelle’s story, and all her history. Although her meeting Josh was not what she initially meant it to be, it turns into the future neither thought they needed. Josh has his own demons chasing him but when he meets Chelle something changes, but will he accept her for what she is??
Loved this story, great plot, and characters. Lots of angst. Some very cute sweet moments and some very hot moments. The characters all come together in this book which I love about the series so far and can’t wait to see what happens next.

This is book 2 in Griscom's Immortal Hearts of San Francisco series and I think I loved it even more than book 1. While it can be read as a stand alone, I think some of the characters and backgrounds will read better if this series is read in order. This books focus is on newly turned vamp Chelle and news reporter Josh - both of whom were introduced to us in book 1 but wow - this book had some surprises in store for us! A wonderful blend and balance of steamy, sweet and suspense! Delving into the horrific pasts of these two characters which causes turmoil in the now. Well written and beautifully narrated - I adore the dual narration that truly brings these characters to life and this vamp clan has just captured my heart - I love them! I can't wait to see what surprises are in store for us next!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

The boys are playing another gig at the club; Lane takes a young girl, Chelle, in the alley…he took too much and now, he has to change her or she dies~ Now, she lives with all of them and she wants out on her own; after all it is her 21st birthday…it ends up sucking lol!! When she runs into a guy she had seen earlier in the evening, she cannot resist him; his name is Josh…yes, Maggie’s old coworker. When they become an item, Josh wonders why she always leaves him. Next, comes a series of coincidences, or are they, that no one will ever expect~ Josh is a reporter, he receives two new cases that will somehow link things between Chelle, the vampires, Josh, and so much more it will make your head spin~ When Josh actually discovers what is happening, what will happen to him and Chelle? Another great book~

I loved the relationship Chelle developed with Josh, keeping it a secret that she needed to be home before sun-up. He loved her for who she was, but then...he didn't really know who she was. Ms Griscom did a great job of characterization and dropping small clues that the reader needs to pay attention to because they all play a part in the culmination of the plot.

Chelle's life changed in several ways throughout the book, and the discovery of clues to her life were handle in a way that the reader could easily follow along. I'll be reading the other books in the series.

It's been a long time since I read a vampire story and after reading this e-book, I was craving for more fang biting stories!

Chelle is not your typical vampire. I love how strong and independent she is. Josh is a very interesting MC, especially since he is a reporter! I super love their chemistry!

The twist about Chelle's past was very intriguing and surprising. I couldn't wait to read Susan Griscom's other works!

I too am captivated.

Not everyone likes series, but I do. Each book in this series is a complete story and the feeling of book 2 is very different from book 1. And by the end of this book, I really think that vampires could be REAL. The dialog is witty. The characters are smart. And all the bits come together in the end.

This was better than the previous book. There was more plot and fleshing out of characters. However, I felt like it ended too abruptly, I would’ve liked closure on how Chelle and Josh’s relationship would work.

Gotta love those Vampires

Damn these vampires are so awesome! They are good people...the author again brought the"family" out again but this is Chelle's story. Oh and her human Josh. They both have demons that are going to be hard to get rid of. Can she resist his blood? Will he see her as a monster? Can they find love? Guess you'll have to read it to find out. I loved this story...still great characters and good storyline. You don't have to read the first book but why not it's free! And stuff will make more sense! On to the next...

After being bitten and drained of her blood, one night while out clubbing, Chelle Masterson is imprisoned by the man who had turned her, as she adjusts to the change and allows her blood-lust to ease. Her first night out alone finds her in a bar, eyeing off potential feeds, with the first leaving Chelle battered and bruised. Chelle later runs into Josh Barrett, who’d been at the bar earlier with the man who had beaten her, leaving her a bloody mess on her birthday. Worried that the bruised woman standing in the pouring rain is homeless, Josh buys Chelle dinner and later asks her out on a date. The sparks between Josh and Chelle ignite into an inferno and, although she thirsts for his blood, she forces self-restraint as she falls deeply in love with this human who treats her so well. On seeing another vampire who looks familiar to Chelle, her mind immediately goes to her parents’ murder so many years ago; Chelle had been witness to their murder but the trauma had blocked out all memory of it. When she discovers that Josh is an investigative reporter, Chelle urges him to look into her parents’ murder from when she was a child, in the hopes that their killer can be found, but worries that Josh might discover her true identity. When he does, the shocking fallout goes far beyond what she could have ever imagined.

To be honest, when I first selected this title, I expected something Buffy-esque. While I am a Buffy fan, I couldn’t be more delighted at how different this book was and was unable to get enough of Susan Griscom’s tale of an innocent woman with a normal college life, transformed into a vampire of a different kind. The action in the story starts immediately, unlike some novels which take too long to set the scene. With both of the main characters having such tragic backgrounds which leads them to each other, the electricity between the two was so electric that I found my face aching after having smiled so many times at the joyful moments they spend together. Captivated by a Vampire is not one of blood and gore, nor one of horror, but rather filled with a full spectrum of emotions that give the story real depth, leaving the reader craving more. I very much enjoyed the second book in the Immortal Hearts of San Francisco series and plan to seek out the first book so I can read both books in sequence, prior to the third book’s release in 2016. I recommend this book to all fans of the paranormal who enjoy a little bit of extra spice in their romance reading.

Vampires are real ? Werewolves are real ? Witches we know are real !  When you read this author's writings, you believe it's all true.
Loved this book it was phenomenal.
Chelle Masterson is a newly turned vampire. She has done everything she has been told, now she wants to live the life that was dealt to her. Remembering her young life by nightmares she wakes up screaming. At first the faces were fuzzy, she remembers her mom and dad when she was five, they were murdered. If only she could remember? Does she want to remember? Now she has an even bigger  problem, she really likes a human. Humans are a food supply, Vampires and Human don't go together, RIGHT?
Josh Barrett is a reporter, he has made a name for himself, for always finding out the truth. Josh has too, when he was younger his girlfriend was killed, he saw it, he just couldn't believe it, nobody would believe him either so he put all of his efforts into being a workaholic then after he got off work he went to the bar had a few then he went to the diner to eat, then home to drink some more. This became his routine every day, for years. One night he runs into her, his life is about to take an unbelievable turn. Will he be able to manage?
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Chelle Masterson's life is complicated, to say the least, and becomes even more so when she meets reporter Josh Barrett. The same Josh Barrett, who worked with Magdalena before she was turned. Chelle's trying to resolve her unrequited love/hate relationship with her maker, Lane, and the last thing she needs is a relationship.

Chelle decides to celebrate her twenty-first birthday on her own. Benevolently, as a birthday gift, Lane allows Chelle to hunt alone for the first time, which turns out to be a disaster for Chelle, but with a silver lining. Chelle meets Josh after a mishap with her intended victim leaves her bruised and hungry. Chelle is attracted to Josh the moment they meet, as is Josh.

As Chelle and Josh grow closer, the reporter in Josh wants to know more about Chelle and is surprised when she is identified as a missing person. Josh is also perturbed by the fact that Chelle leaves him before dawn every night they spend together and starts to dig deeper into who Chelle is and wonders if she even knows. The more time the two spend together, Josh can forgive himself a little more for the event that changed his life forever.

Chelle deserves her happily ever after, as she has been through so much at such a young age, and hopefully, Josh can put aside his fears and be her HEA.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

I loved book 1 in this series, so when I got the chance to read this one I jumped on it and devoured it in one sitting. Susan Griscom knows how to write paranormal romance perfectly and she spices them up to where I have to fan myself throughout the entire book.

Chelle and Josh have such an amazing chemistry. I wanted so badly for them to heal each other and let their passions turn to more. "Alluring, Tantalizing me with her beauty. Sweet mother of God, help me. I was falling in love with a vampire."

What I also loved was getting to see Chelle's point of view as a newly turned vampire that doesn't end up with the vampire that turned her. I could feel her raw emotions float off the pages and understand her pain, fear and even anger. This made her character even more compelling. "It was the little things in life that I missed most. Just because I was a vampire, didn't mean I couldn't still do those things. In all my pouting and depression about being forced into becoming immortal, that was something I'd forgotten."

It was also great having all the characters from book one involved in the story. I already felt bonded with them and a familiarity that made this book even more fantastic. This is one of my favorite series by Susan Griscom and that's saying a lot since I love all her books. Hot and steamy fun read, I highly recommend it!

Having read Tempted by a Vampire and liking it a lot, I read the next install in the series, Captivated by a Vampire. Following Magdalena's ex coworker, Josh, we find him pulled in by a beautiful girl, who looks out of place in a bar. Chelle was given a second chance at life; albeit an immortal one, but a chance anyone would be willing to take. Overprotected by her maker Lane, Chelle is given the opportunity to go out by herself. Seeing Josh in the bar does something to her insides and makes it hard for her to stay away from him. Finding out who he is, she plans on using him to uncover a past that escapes her and gives her nightmares as she sleeps. As the two become more acquainted with one another, emotions run high and more unanswered questions begin to form. Captivated by a Vampire is a great paranormal read with spicy scenes, twists, and a vampire who pushes the boundarie
