Everyone's favorite first grader, Princess Posey, has to fess up to her biggest mistake yet in this eleventh book in the series!
Posey's class has been learning all about bees, and when they plan to put on a play to demonstrate everything they've learned, Posey is thrilled. Posey loves a stage, and she's already got her heart set on the perfect the Queen Bee. But when Caitlyn is picked for the Queen Bee, Posey is crushed. Taking matters into her own hands, Posey swipes Caitlyn's special bee eraser when nobody's looking. But after she takes it, she feels worse. Maybe stealing wasn't the right thing to do--but how can she ever make things right? It takes a talk with her mom and a whole lot of courage, but Posey makes an important owning up to your mistakes is always the right thing to do.

Posey's first grade class is having a lot of fun learning about bees! But when one of her classmates brings in a bumblebee eraser, Posey feels very jealous. She sees the eraser unattended and takes it home, not seeming to realize that what she's really done is steal it. Posey feels badly about it, and confesses to her mother, who says Posey must take it back to school and tell her teacher. I like that this book continues to tackle jealousy, both of Posey's classmates and her little brother.
I read another review saying basically that Posey "gets away with murder" because her mother and grandfather don't punish her. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. Yes, if my kids stole something of their classmates in real life, they would be grounded. But I think the book itself is a good way to have a conversation with your children about wrong and right, and why it's important to tell a parent if you have done something wrong.
SO SAD this series is over. In this one, the 1st grade class is putting on a play and Posey really wants to be the lead but another girl gets it. The other girl seems to have everything and she's super jealous so she steals something from her and then guilt overwhelms her and she learns to do the right thing.
When Posey's class finishes a unit on bees, Caitlyn, a girl in Posey's class, gets a bee eraser. Posey thinks Caitlyn is spoiled. When Miss Lee announces their class will perform a bee play, Posey is hopeful she will get the part of the queen bee. But when Caitlyn gets the party of the Queen Bee, Posey feels it is unfair. In her state of high emotion, she steals Caitlyn's eraser.
I really enjoy this series because the author presents real, relatable problems for little children. She also brings good, wholesome resolutions. Kids need more series like this one.
Transitional chapter book. I would recommend for late kindergarten/first grade. I get the impression posey is a bit of a girly girl. In this story, she struggles with wanting something a classmate has (a typical struggle and not just for kids ;) ). She takes the eraser, and then she feels just awful. She finally tells her mother who tells posey that why do not take things, and posey is going to have to work with the teacher on her own to make things right (sound advice). I think young students can relate
