Welcome to the bestselling Last Frontier Lodge series – a sexy and steamy contemporary romance series set against the wilderness and beauty of small-town Alaska!
Ginger Sanders believes in love and happily-ever-after for everyone. Except her. At thirty, she’s already been married and divorced. She’s bright, brash, beautiful, and very practical. So practical that she’s boxed her broken heart up and put it away for safekeeping after her young marriage fell apart and shattered her belief that love was possible for her. Busy making sure all of her friends find love, she’s completely thrown off guard when she falls at the feet of a ski god—literally.
Cam Nash is the ski god in question—a man of near physical perfection and sexy enough to melt the snow on every mountain nearby. Cam took a job at Last Frontier Lodge in the wilds of Alaska to escape the painful memories of his brother’s death. Skiing has always helped clear his mind, so he’s hoping he can ski enough to forget. The last thing on his mind is a relationship of any kind. Until Ginger takes a tumble in the snow and lands at his feet. Her spark burns so bright, he can’t look away.
Two people who aren’t looking for love find themselves falling fast and hard. Passion fans the flames hotter and hotter, while Ginger and Cam stumble in the face of their feelings. Can Ginger believe in possibilities again? Can Cam allow himself to find happiness?
*All novels in this series are full-length standalone novels with an HEA.

Ms. Croix has done it again! Her superb way of writing a story in a way that keeps her readers involved is just phenomenal. I absolutely love the story of Ginger and Cam, and the way they both overcome things that have happened in their past. Ginger made a decision two years ago to give up on men, and has had absolutely no problems with this, that is until recently. You see Ginger married a man right out of college, as it turned out it was the biggest mistake of her life, and because of this, she almost makes a bigger one. Cam recently lost is brother Eric in an automobile accident, one that he blames himself for. Cam and Eric did everything together. Now, Cam needs to heal, he needs to go somewhere that he has no history of going to with Eric. He takes a job at the Last Frontier Lodge as a ski instructor and guide. Ginger growing up near the slopes of course likes to ski, she does not do is very well, but she does it. Cam first see Ginger when she is trying to save a child from falling and ends up falling herself. He helps her up, they look at each other for the first time, and you know those plans of not getting involved in a relationship neither has no intention of getting involved in??? Well, let us just say they flew away with the show. I loved watching these two characters deny their feelings. Ms. Croix did a phenomenal job showing the emotional way they both overcome the obstacles they put up for themselves. Reading this book was a two edged sword for me, I never wanted it to end, but I wanted to see what happened next. This morning I could not hold myself back and finished this wonderful book. I have loved reading each and every book that this exceptional author, JH Croix has written. She takes her readers on an emotional ride every time. Each book in any her series, are a stand-a-lone book, but are linked by past and future supporting characters. In each book Ms. Croix writes about past characters but in a way that totally blends in with the current book. I absolutely love when an author does this. Thank you for reading my review. Now, go do some index finger exercises and one-click this book. You will not be disappointed.
This was a good read. Cam is new to town. He is dealing with the loss of his brother. Therefore, he likes just moving from place to place. That is until he meets Ginger. However, she is having a hard time dealing with her past. This makes it difficult for her to love. Thankfully in the end she comes to her senses and they get their happy ending.
The purpose of Thrifty Thursday is to read a book which was free (at some point). Author freebie on February 18, 2021 (currently $4.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble as of writing this post. )
So I started reading this Last Frontier Lodge series, because I noticed it was set in Alaska. There seem to be a lot of books set there. I recently got one and somehow didn't realize it was book 4 but I really liked it. So then I saw I had some of the earlier books and went to read them. Each book is about 250 pages, so a quick read.
I love the world in these books with a ski lodge set in remote beauty of an Alaskan small town. The characters are also well developed and easy to like. Their emotions are realistic, well except the fast action on their almost immediate lust. They are old enough, late 20s to early 30s, to know what they want and don't want, though. These books are full of hot, sexy scenes, but they don't seem like too much.
I got Falling Fast as some sort of newsletter / author freebie and as it was fresh in my mind I started here. Then I figured out I had some other books in the series, including the first one.
Ginger has lived in this town her whole life. She is best friends with Marley from Take Me Home. She is in the earlier books. Cam is a new hire at the lodge. They both have parts of their past to overcome, and are starting on a new phase in their careers.
I really enjoyed this one. It gets extra points for gorgeous scenery of Alaska, a big support group of friends, and SKIING!
Ah! This was my favorite so far! It still doesn’t compare to her Swoon Series but it was still good! Falling Fast was the fourth book in J.H. Croix’s Last Frontier Lodge Series. They are all inter-connected but can be read as a stand-alone. It was passionate, flirty, and sexy!
Cam was used to following the snow, skiing was life. His new job in Diamond Creek was just for the season but he needed to start thinking about settling down. Would meeting a sassy and beautiful woman help him decide or would it send him running?
Ginger had been burned by her ex-husband. The last thing on her mind was finding love but when Cam came crashing into her life, would she have a choice?
So much chemistry; they were on fire! I have loved Ginger in the series and am so happy she got her happy ever after! I can’t wait to see them again in the future!
This is more of a 2.5 stars for me, but it was on the better end of 2.5 so I rounded to 3. I have not read the first three books of this series, but they seem like stand alone books with the same setting and we focus on new people each time. The book also switches points of view between Ginger and Cam and it's nicely done if not a little annoying after a while.
spoilers.
This book focuses on Cam and Ginger. Cam is a competitive back country skier who just lost his brother, another back country skier in a car accident. Ginger is a woman who got divorced a few years prior to the start of the book and the divorce left her thinking she'd never find love or actually she herself actively stopping herself finding love but more on that later. This book is about 10 drinking games rolled into one The book starts with a meet cute with Ginger breaking a ski and Cam rescuing her and Cam is so figging HOT she looses her ability to speak- enter drinking game 1- 3: 1. Take a shot everytime Ginger mentioning how her brain stops working around Cam. This one slows down at the halfway point. 2. Take a shot Ginger mentioning Cam's Amber eyes. This one goes all the way throw, though slows down in the last 3 chapters before the last chapter. Oh and for bonus points after Cam's sister Ivy enters the picture there is about 2 pages that will go beyond messing you up. 3. Take a shot every time Ginger mentioning how fit Cam is. Now this drinking game is poor taste because I have a problem with this. Whenever it is Ginger's point of view we hear about how Hot Cam is whether it's from a co-worker or from herself there is a comment or sometimes a half page about Cams nicely sculpted abs or how his body is trim, or how hot he is. I know it's romance and you'r lead male has to be good looking, but imagine if it was the other way around and Cam and the other men around him were talking about Gingers boobs, or butt, or legs. Cam does mention how beautiful she looks, but it's not focusing on a trim body, which we know she has, or a nice rack. If it was mentioned that way Cam and his buddies would be the villains or someone who needed redemption. Be weary of drinking game 3 because by the end you'll be messed up for days.
ON WARD
After the meet cute we find that Cam has taken a seasonal job at Last Frontier as ski instructor and back country trail designer. Cage- the owner- absolutely loves Cam because he's a hard worker and Cam is accepted into the small group of people the series follows as one of their own. Drinking game 4 take a shot every times they mention the booth in the corner is the one all the towns folk eat at almost every day. This one is a slow going one, but it's still enough to mess you up. Cam has retired from competitive skiing because he's not enjoying it as much now that his Brother is gone. Drinking game number 5 and 6 come in here. 5. a shot every time Cam mentions that he couldn't settle any place he and his brother, Eric, went skiing because it was too hard. Also, add a shot every time he mentions that he was looking beyond the sport towards the end before the accident 6. A shot every time Cam mentions how Last Frontier has given him peace because he can ski there and not think of his dead brother and he has found peace.
Cam and Ginger are thrown together because she is one of the towns folk sitting in the booth and Cam is everyone's new shinny toy. Enter Drinking game 7. Take a shot everytime Cam mentions how "amazing" Ginger feels like they have sex.
Ginger, who we find out is a speech pathologist and is very good with kids. She has decided that because her ex-husband was a cheater that she is never to find love again because she ruined her one chance at love. Drinking game 8: take a shot every time Ginger mentions that she has built a wall around her heart because she doesn't want to be hurt like that again. And she decided after the divorce was final that she was never going to have sex, talk to, or have any romantic feelings at all. I will give credit with Deila, one of her best friends, she said that she was stupid to think that and she should have told her, Deila, sooner so she could point it out. This line of thought continues after Cam and Ginger have sex and lasts until the last chapter.
So we continue on with Ginger and Cam acting like bunnies until Ginger Cam's sister Ivy shows up and makes Ginger feel uncomfortable because "You know meeting the family." Ivy is perfectly sweet to Ginger, but Ginger is a little cold and starts giving the cold shoulder to Cam because you know that's what women do in romances, they don't communicate their feeling they just close down and shut people out. Cam tells Ginger he loves her in a last ditch effort to get her to talk to him.
Then because we can't have people get over their Sh-t without tragedy Cam's Father has a heart attack where he should have died and Cam has to leave town. Ginger finally admits she's in love with Cam and then follows him down to his parents.
The epilouge wasn't needed or just cut the last two pages
Again I liked it, it was more okay than really liking it. Have fun with the drinking games.
For years, Cam and his brother traveled all over the world as competitive backcountry skiers. Now he’s looking to find peace from a past that has been tearing him up from the inside out. He feels responsible for his brother’s death following the car accident that he survived and his brother didn’t. Ever since, he’s been traveling lodge to lodge being haunted by the memories of places he and his brother had been together, so when he found the job posting for Last Frontier Lodge in Diamond Creek, Alaska, it was perfect. The lodge hadn’t been open with Cam and his brother had been racing, therefore they had never been there, no memories to avoid. What Cam hadn’t planned on was meeting a women that took his breath away.
Ginger was born and raised in Diamond Creek. She loves to watch her friends fall in love and is perfectly willing to stick her nose into their business to give her opinion. As for relationship for herself, she’s firmly locked the door and thrown away the key after her disastrous marriage and even more humiliating divorce. This no relationship pledge had worked for her for the past couple of years and then she fell on the slopes and landed at Cam’s feet. Now she can’t get him out of her head, but can she trust her heart and will she listen to it when it matters the most.
This has been a great series, I’ve got one book left and then I may have to go back and see what I think about the Diamond Creek series.
Love love loved it! Really Sweet and quite emotional at times, but it was still perfect
Ginger had a rough marriage before she divorced, so even though she believe in love and is happy that her friends are living their happily ever after, she has convinced herself that love is not for her anymore. And for two years it works, until she falls at the feet of handsome skier, Cam Nash, literally.
Cam was a ski competitor, travelled around the world with his brother and enjoyed being adventurous but when his brother died in a car accident, he hasn't competed since. Desperate to be away from the painful memories of his grief, he sets of to Alaska. A place where his brother and him didn't go to ski in. Cam knows he's only there for the winter season, but while skiing he finds himself attracted to the cute brunette that has fallen at his feet.
There is an obvious spark between these two, yet they both have painful past that stops them from admitting how much they are for one another. But as the story progresses and the more they spend with one another, it becomes clear that they are beginning to trust each other with their hearts.
Definitely loved this story, and even if it is in a series, it can be read as a standalone and it has a HEA. Awesome read!
I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review. Once again I have to give another 5 star review. Although there were some spelling and grammatical errors, this was an ARC so I cannot and will not hold that against the author. There is nothing bad to say about this book. Once again there is a strong female lead which I absolutely love and a strong male lead as well! I didn't really feel Ginger as much as the other characters in her books but I think its because I did not really know her that well. So I went back and purchased the books in this series that I did not get to read. I can't wait to dive into them. I really enjoyed the fact that Ginger and Cam did not immediately act on their attraction to each other and even when they got "stranded" for lack of a better word, they still did not jump right into sex. I loved that she had them do such mundane everyday things. It made this book much more real to me! I like to read about that more than I do a book that is just sex all the time with a few mundane things thrown in. If you have never read any of Croix's books, its not too late to start. You won't be sorry!
I am not sure where to start with this one. This was my least favorite of the series. I just wasn't sucked into the story. Ginger just didn't move me in any way. Cam was a strong character but I think with the constant reminder of his brother's death was too much for me.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the story. Both were broken and not looking for any type of relationship. They just stumbled into each other. They fought the attraction for a while. It took Marley and Dehlia to talk some sense into Ginger. Cam built a good friendship with Gage and Don.
This was good to see the entire gang back at the lodge. You almost feel like part of the family
I am a big fan of J.H. Croix and the Last Frontier Lodge series with captivating characters, action, adventure, family dynamics, heartwarming romance, and a glimpse of life in the last frontier. I enjoyed Ginger Sanders, lifelong resident of Diamond Creek, Alaska, and her sizzling chemistry and interactions with ski god Cam Nash, who is working at the Lodge for the winter. The story is so beautifully written the characters come to life and I felt I was part of their lives and didn't want the book to end. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good contemporary romance. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review and liked the book so much, I purchased it for my personal library.
I received a copy for an honest review. The title says all. Ginger is skiing and gets distracted by a bird flying among the trees. A few seconds later she is sitting on the snow beside this hunk's skis. He is the most...everything. Ski god, sex on skis. She has trouble answering his questions about her health. Since men and dates are not on her menu, she was hoping Cam was a guest at the lodge. Nope, he's working the season at the lodge. Cam didn't know what to do with Ginger. He wasn't looking for women and romance. If this was a shifter romance, I would say they found their fated mates, but neither wanted a relationship. Watch them handle or mishandle their days at the lodge.
I can't get enough of this series! I love the setting and really enjoy the descriptions of the Alaskan landscape. The lodge makes me want to learn to ski (which is not going to happen!) but I could be like Harry in this book and not be an outdoorsy person! I love the characters and the romance and the small town feeling with everybody being acquainted. I love that new characters are brought in but are still tied with the original group and it is just one big, happy family. Keep up the good writing Ms. Croix!
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
I didn’t feel the chemistry and it was a lot repetition
I did not feel the chemistry between Cam and Ginger. It felt forced like the author was grasping for straws. The book was repetitive, like we get it your brother died and your suffering but in the same manner come on. Or the heroine, we get it your divorced and it sucks. I’m sorry but it’s hard to believe a rabbit can be house trained. I gave up at 35% when really I should of given up 15%. And by the way proofreading would go a long way. Sorry but this will be the last and only book I read from this author.
Another fantastic installment of the Last Frontier Lodge series!! Ginger was spurned by love and can't imagine a chance with love again. Nash is still grieving and dealing with guilt and has never made time for love before. They have a spark that ignites a grand fire in both their hearts...but they're scared! Fantastic story!! Ms. Croix has a superb talent! Always look forward to her books! I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another great book in this series! Cam is a professional skier who is trying to get over the death of his brother. Ginger is Marley's best friend that has sworn off men after her bitter divorce. It all goes awry when she crashes at his feet while skiing. A heartwarming story about love and learning to trust again.
I am really enjoying the Last Frontier Lodge series! Falling Fast is a wonder love story about Ginger and Cam. Cam has taken a job at the Last Frontier Lodge in an attempt to help ease the pain of his brother Eric's death. On the ski slopes he meets Ginger and she literally falls for Cam! This steamy story of Ginger and Cam will warm up a cold winter day!
Beautiful setting of an Alaskan ski lodge. Finding true love and the obstacles that bombard you. Feelings that are intense and overwhelming, wondering if they are truly reciprocated. Follow Cam and Ginger on this wild ride called love.
Ginger Sanders was born and raised in Diamond Creek, Alaska as she allowed her eye to wander as she raced down to the bottom of the slope. It was a bird that flew through the trees that caught her eye. The next thing she knew, one of her skis caught on its edge, and she lost her balance. For a few seconds, she thought she might be able to right herself. She wobbled but she did slow down. She looked up only to find the finest-looking man she had ever seen a few feet in front of her. The balance she thought she had was lost. She skidded sideways and landed with a hard thump, coming to a stop beside the skis belonging to the man in question.
Her gaze traveled up, up, and up until she found herself staring at sex-on-skis. As the man knelt to check on her, Ginger was struck speechless. She’d like to have blamed her tumble in the snow, but truly it was just this man. She was almost dizzy just looking at him. Which was not good, not good at all. Where the hell did he come from? She’d never laid eyes on him, and she knew almost everyone in Diamond Creek, Alaska. He must be a tourist visiting Last Frontier Lodge. “Are you okay?” he asked.
Her cheeks heated when she realized she hadn’t managed to answer him. “Um…yeah. I think so.” “Let’s get you out of these skis, so you can get your feet under you.” “Now that you can move, how are you?” Because of the way her young marriage ended with her lying cheating bastard of a husband, she swore never to get involved with men again. It's worked seamlessly for two years that’s why she is so tongue-tied now. This man evoked emotions she’s never experienced before, and it's caught her off guard.
Causing a two-second delay in response time. “I’m, uh… I’m fine. Thank you.” “You have, uh, a bit of snow on your back,” he said, gesturing to her back. “Oh, oh, right.” Every look in his eyes flustered her even more. Sh-t. Don’t blush like an idiot. What the hell is wrong with you? You don’t notice men. They are in the no-zone. Get a grip and act normal. Gage grinned, Her best friend’s husband and the owner of Last Frontier Lodge came skiing over to her side. “You okay? Saw you fall there.”
“I know you fell at Cam’s feet, but did you get a chance to meet him?” Gage asked with a wink and a sly smile. If looks could kill Gage would be dead, and she would have her revenge. She knew his wife was her bestie. “We haven’t had much time to talk,” she replied, biting back a huff. “Cam Nash,” he said with a nod. Right, it was her turn to speak, something she usually had no trouble with. She was a speech therapist for crying out loud. “N-n-nice to meet you. I’m Ginger Sanders. Are you here for a visit?” “Not exactly. I took a job here for the winter.”
Gage nodded enthusiastically. “Cam is a world-class skier and backcountry guide. Can’t believe we lucked out and signed him on for the season. He’s getting our ski school up and running and will hopefully help me expand our backcountry trails.” Welcome to their meet-cute the chemistry is off the charts and throws Ginger for a loop. In her process to will her thoughts, emotions, and body into not ever getting involved with another man she never factored in the chemistry. But it's not just that but the instant connection to him as a person and the pain of his loss of his brother.
It had started to unlock things within her that she truly thought no longer existed. Such a good book.
Another great love story from the gang at the Last Frontier Lodge.
In this book Ginger, divorcee, speech therapist and Marley's oldest and dearest best friend, has wall up her heart. She has sworn off men since her divorce two years ago.
Cam Nash, Cross County ski legend and newest employee of the Last Frontier Lodge is trying to heal his heart after the loss of his brother almost a year ago.
Neither are looking for love. Niether are looking for casual. But they say fate has its moments. In this case the moment would be when Ginger fell at his feet. That fate, it's a funny thing.
Cam and Ginger battle their feelings for each other. It literally scares the crap out of Ginger and she doesn't know how to deal other than to push away. Will Cam and Ginger work it out or will Cam leave and never come back?
Again I can't express what sweet romances these books are. I have enjoyed reading the first four so far. I like the authors smooth writing skills and her need not to over describe. She has the perfect combination of battle of wills, romance and hot sex. These books make for cozy toe curling reads. They have enjoyable plots and lovable characters. Not to mention the beautiful and peaceful backdrop that is Diamond Creek, Alaska. You can't help but become addicted. I wonder what the next book has in store for us. It seems that it is going to introduce some new characters. Yay! I am so into this. On ward!!!!
I’ve finished this whole series and every book is amazing. I’ve fallen in love with Diamond Creek and Alaska with it, not to mention the characters whom I’ve grown quite attached to! All the books contain a lovely, heart-warming and VERY hot romance. Although each book is a standalone, I recommend reading them in the proper order as we get glimpses and clues of the next couple in the current book, and get to see the evolution of the preceding couples in each new book we’re reading.
Falling Fast is the story of Ginger and Cam. Ginger is Marley’s bestie and seems to know everybody in Diamond Creek. She thinks she’s done a very good job closing her broken heart, but finds out it was an easy task until she meets Cam. He makes her heart pitter-patter and body hum, and despite putting a hell of a fight, she’s no match for what is developing between them. As for Cam, he’s just trying to find a way to adjust to life without his brother, and Ginger turns out to be the balm he didn’t even know he needed.
Both of them are struggling to keep their pasts aside and move on but the past incidences has made them vulnerable and cautious. Ginger thought she would never let attraction come between her and a man again after her divorce. Cam is still struggling with his brother's death, though he had managed to make through the dark phase, memories come alive from time to time.
I wanted Cam to talk more. During the first half of the book, he is very quiet and doesn't talk much about his feelings or anything. Yes, he thinks of Ginger but I would have preferred if he talked a bit more. I was okay with Ginger's character. The usual talkative person had a hard time to form sentences in the presence of Cam :p
The paragraphs were descriptive, a bit too much of description for me. I had to skip some. Overall, the narration was good, kept me hooked. Ski-God Cam was drool-worthy and insecure Ginger finally turned out to be strong. An happy ending of course.
Cam is still grieving a year after his brothers death in a car accident. He and his brother were professional backcountry skiers. Now he has been drifting from resort to resort but each one has memories of his brother until he finds Last Frontier Lodge. Ginger is happy to see everyone else get their HEA but she has sworn off relationships after her disastrous divorce two years ago. Then she literally falls at Cam's feet while out skiing and they can't seem to keep their eyes or hands off each other. But she is afraid to admit how she feels and when Cam finally tells her that he loves her she tells him they need to take a break and she needs time to think. Does Cam decide he wants to stay in Diamond Creek or will he leave at the end of the season? Will Cam be able to give her the time and leave her alone? Will Ginger get out of her own way before it's too late?
Cam and Ginger meet at the bottom of the ski slopes at Last Frontier Lodge, when she loses her balance and falls at his feet! Ginger has sworn off relationships for herself, after a bitter divorce from her cheating ex. She is embarrassed and doesn’t trust her own heart with any man, she is content with her friends finding love. Cam has come to LFL looking to find some peace, somewhere to mourn the loss of his brother in an auto accident a year earlier. He had spent all of his time traveling the world, skiing with Eric. He was looking for the time he wouldn’t feel utter devastation any time his name was brought up. He never expects to find his blue eyed beauty in the middle of Alaska! He really never expected her to be the one to help him heal, just as he did for her! This story had it all, sweet, sexy, steamy chemistry. This couple fought for their relationship tooth and nail! I say “check it out today”!
I've never been to Alaska and dislike cold weather with a passion, but I can picture the town of Diamond Creek and the Last Frontier Lodge just by Croix fabulous descriptive writing. You can feel the wind on your face as you ski down the mountain, feel the heat of the fire - both from the woodstove and between our couple, Cam and Ginger. These two are made for each other - two damaged souls who come together in spite of themselves; very unsure of what's happening, unsure about going forward, yet not wanting to go back. I fell in love with this series when Gage went home to Alaska and fell for Marley. And it just keeps getting better and better. Can't wait to read the next one.
Gnger believes in HEA, just not for herself. She had fallen for and married the wrong guy and does not want a repeat. She is totally unprepared for the latest employee at Last Frontier Lodge - Cam Nash - a former ski champion. Cam has his own demons to fight, namely the lonelyness after his older brother died in a car accident. Neither Ginger nor Nash can believe or fight the attraction toward the other and both run scared. It takes courage to build a relationship, especially when one failed before. A good story, psychologically probably quite accurate and more than a simple love story.
A turbulent love story par excellence, Ginger and Cam's story is another fantastic addition to this phenomenal series that just keeps getting even better with each book. In Ginger and Cam, two deeply wounded souls find their perfect match, one badly hurt by her ex and the other suffering from grief for his brother. Again, both characters feel very lifelike and relatable in their emotional turmoil, and I could hardly put the book down. With its heartwarming characters, it is an absolute must-read.
This is another good instant attraction romance at the Last Frontier Lodge. Cam and Ginger have great chemistry and the romance is smokin. I loved George and thought he was a great addition. I was not a fan of Ginger's avoidance or her need to be alone and think. I hate stories with this kind of page filler. The story would have been much better with an honest conversation. It could have been a 5 otherwise. Good read.
