I received this on a read to review basis from NetGalley. Thank you to the author, Joe Cross, and the publisher, Reboot Press, for the opportunity.
Whilst providing me with no new information that I did not already know, this gave me the motivational push I needed to reboot my weight loss regime. The first 40% of the book is dedicated to Cross' personal backstory, encouraging speeches and the scientific reasoning behind the juice cleanse that is detailed in the remainder.
If you are a beginner in the world of juicing, diet and weight loss then this would be the perfect initial incentive to begin your journey. It is packed with shopping lists and simple recipes to kick start your progress. Whilst not as beneficial, this would also be a nice addition to anyone interested in health. Nothing written here is new, but its positive and uplifting tone alongside details of personal success stories makes this a good motivational tool. Whilst I am not going to stick to the 5 day juice cleanse that the book focuses on, I feel more motivated and inspired to carry on with my own health journey thanks largely to this read.

My Thoughts....
I found this one interesting novel that can help one at losing weight with what is best to eat and even drink using the juicer. The explanations of what is going on with your body was very well explained especially with all of the processed foods that we have to choose from. The five day plan with the walks and talks that are presented are very well addressed in a very simple and easy to follow plan. So, there is only one way to do this and that is start and see the pounds falling off.
Anyone looking at losing weight or simply interested in making some lifestyle changes when it comes to what to eat and drink may enjoy this book. Juice It to Lose It is a quick read that explains the process of freeing your body from the sluggishness that today's over processed diet tends to impose on people. As Cross explains, juicing is a way to get back to the basics, and this book shows it can help you reboot your system for a fresh start.
Like any other self help type book, Juice It to Lose It includes a step by step guide which will help you to both better understand the process and find a plan that will work best for you. Cross offers advice starting with how to plan and prepare, then moves on to a day to day guide (incl menu suggestions) for the full five days, plus it also tackles suggestions for how to maintain your rebooted lifestyle after your five day plan is complete. In addition to menu suggestions, Cross also includes complete shopping and recipe lists to make everything as easy and streamlined as possible.
I enjoyed learning more about juicing and how it can be beneficial. I look forward to checking out the author's earlier books, and seeing what juicing can do for me.
Thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing this review opportunity.
Very inspirational! This five-day plan walks and talks you through every step. You won't have any questions because his author is very thorough. Everything you need is easily accessible at your local farmers market or grocery store. This is a fantastic way to start losing those extra pounds.

I began juicing with this book as a guideline. I selected the juicing throughout the day and have a mindfully healthier meal for dinner. I am pleased with the results. After the five days I have kept it going. I am now on day 20 and feel fantastic. I do not crave sweets nor have I had coffee in 20 days. AND I have lost 7 pounds.

Review: I'll admit, I'm a big fan of juicing - there really is nothing quite like the taste of freshly-extracted vegetable and fruit juice. But I also like to chew my food! Joe Cross's latest book centres on a 5 day weight loss plan and bears more than a passing resemblance to Jason 'Juicemaster' Vale's book, '7lbs in 7 days', in that there is a shopping list full of vast quantities of vegetables and fruit, together with numerous recipes for juices. But that is where the similarity ends.
In this book, there is a choice of juices only on each of the 5 days, or juices + dinner. I like this approach, as to stop eating meals in favour of going straight on to just juice can be a bit of a shock to the system. By juicing during the day and then having a cooked meal in the evening, we can continue to eat with the family and not feel deprived. Each dinner recipe comes with suggested family add-ons such as meat or beans/legumes, complete with nutritional information. There is also a chapter full of other recipes and suggestions for how to stay on track after completing the 5 day plan.
I really like this flexible juicing plan as it could be easily integrated into family life. I'd recommend it to those new to juicing as well as experienced juicers who may like the option of incorporating a meal into their juicing lifestyle.
I received this book through Netgalley for review. This is a simple diet book that is very easy to follow. The book spends a little time discussing juicing and why juice instead of smoothies. The bulk of the book is about how to carry out a 5 day juice fast, or a 5 day juice with dinner diet. The purpose if the book is to make a 5-day juicing experience as simple and easy-to-follow as possible. The hardest part is buying a juicer.
The book lays out the benefits of a juice fast, issues of motivation, how a juice fast works, and discusses specific health issues, family management, and preparation. While the reader may want to jump into the diet, the author instructs you to spend a week transitioning in and transitioning out. He describes the changes to make each day for a week before starting, and provides (mostly vegan) transition recipes to follow.
The fast itself is super easy to follow. There is a complete shopping list. Each day has a table with what to eat for each meal, whether you are following a straight juice diet or the modification with a vegetarian dinner. The recipes for the day immediately follow. So, you don't have to flip around in the book to find the recipe described--it's right there.
I tried two of the recipes, one of the juices and a transition recipe. The juice was the Hawaiian Tropic Green Juice. It was good, but the lime pith was strong tasting and I probably should have put the pineapple through twice as the pulp was very wet and tasty. The Egg and avocado mash was very good. It was super easy to make and my husband loved it. While it sounds strange, it's basically and egg salad with avocado instead of mayonnaise.
I recommend this book to someone who has a juicer, or wants to try out the diet without worrying about figuring out which recipes to have when. The book does have a guide to substituting fruits and vegetables in the recipes if you need or prefer to. It also has a section on how to talk with your doctor about the plan. This is one of the most straightforward and easy to follow diet books I've seen, and I'm impressed with its organization.
The first 10% is the author giving you solid answers to the likely excuses you are throwing out there as to why you can't or aren't doing something to better your health. The next questions, why 5 days? I love the answer. If you binge on junk food for 5 days, say like over the holidays, and you feel like total crap when it's over, the opposite is also true, treat yourself great for 5 days and you will feel better! There are 2 options to the 5 day reboot - juice or juice + dinner. The author then goes through how to set yourself up to succeed, how to prep your kitchen, make a shopping list and get ready to go. The recipes themselves are very varied as far as flavor goes. I don't personally care for some of them but others were great. The book then goes into how to move forward after the 5 days, so you aren't reverting back to your old ways and includes lots of transition recipes. There's a great FAQ section at the end and an index so you can quickly find recipes or reference certain sections. While I know this specific plan is not for me, there is a lot of great information about juicing here and I love to juice. I have an Omega juicer that works great and even the kids love to get involved.
I've watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead 1&2 and I think that this is a good compliment to continue in a clear guide on how to juice and lose weight and attain a healthier body. This is a great guide to get you started and with five days you'll be up and running on your juicing program--everything you need is in the book to include the shopping guide, recipes, menu and some additional words of motivation. You don't just have to juice you have a couple options to do this; the first is a complete five day juice only plan or the second is juice for breakfast and lunch with a dinner meal. Anyone who is thinking of trying a juice cleanse should definitely purchase this book! I have tried a few of the recipes and I'm having trouble with so much veggies upsetting my stomach (I have a very sensitive stomach and with major change in foods even worse). But I'm trying to modify the recipes some in order to ease into the transition. I think this is a great reference book and a good start, but I would definitely recommend seeing your primary doctor before starting this.
Joe Cross has written a clear concise how to guide for juicing with his Juice It to Lose It. Give Joe five days and he will get you started on a juicing program. Everything you need is packed inside the pages, including a complete shopping guide, recipes, menu and words of encouragement. There are two options; a complete five day juice only plan or juice for breakfast and lunch with a dinner meal. Again, Joe gives you a complete plan for both options, so there is no guessing. I was unaware of the difference between a blender and a juicer, so be prepared to purchase a juicer. Joe even gives advice on purchasing the right juicer for your personal needs. I am excited to give this plan a try and have already recruited my husband and daughter to join me! Thank you NetGalley and Greenleaf Book Group for providing me with an ARC. Anyone who is thinking of trying a juice cleanse should definitely purchase this book!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
