When Beth wakes up next to Jay, a man she can only vaguely remember meeting, it's immediately a situation she wants to forget. But then she finds a strange diary in which he compares all the women he meets to ex-girlfriend Sammie, and soon she finds herself in a situation where all she wants is to escape.
Worth Pursuing is a disturbing short story which can be read on its own or as a prequel to LK Chapman's chilling full length psychological thriller Anything for Him.
LK Chapman writes psychological thrillers about relationships, family drama, secrets and lies – from dark and disturbing tales of obsession and jealousy, to twisty thrillers with a dash of romance – her passion is creating characters that get under your skin and stories that keep you gripped.
Chapman’s books are inspired by her studies in psychology, and she has always been fascinated by the strength, peculiarities and extremes of human nature. As well as working as a psychologist, Chapman volunteered for mental health charity Mind before starting her journey as an author. It has been an incredibly exciting journey and she is so grateful for the support of her readers.
When she is not writing, Chapman will usually be found in her garden or getting out and enjoying the outdoors – immersing herself in nature and giving her mind a chance to work on her next story!

A short story about how a one night stand can go sour. I love short stories, authors pack so much in to them, in this case is all 23 pages! Reading this has made me want to read the authors full novel, Anything For Him! Jay sounds like he's going to be an interesting character!
This was a very enjoyable and well written short story. Well worth a download. Takes about 20-30 min to read. Great narrative device to keep the tension and suspense until the end. Great way to expand on the larger novel.
Oh my goodness! I simply jumped into this story and it had my heart racing talking to the pages instantly! (don't tell anyone that part!) fast, intense and gripping. Brilliantly written and has left me feeling on edge and unnerved. Fantastic!
Fantastic short story! In my opinion, this should be read after Anything For Him, to gain some further insight into Jay's character and so as not to spoil the book!
Having read and loved the Anything for him trilogy which I read last year, I decided to give this story a quick read given that the character of Jay was a well remembered one from the trilogy books.
This story gave a real insight into the character of Jay, and why he was so driven in doing what he was doing.
I don’t think this works as a stand-alone and should be read before reading Anything for him or straight after it, to get the full benefit of this short story.
This very short but surprisingly enjoyable read, barely half an hour long and a set up for a full length novel to follow, the writing is sparse and the story engaging. Neither of the characters are entirely likeable but Beth is revealed to be a young woman who might have made a poor choice and Jay as something more sinister. This was a freebie but I am glad that I read it. The writer has shown writing skill and a good realistic imaginative basis for the novel that this is effectively a prequel to. Looking forward to it.
There's enough story in these few pages that the reader understands the situation and fears for the female character. In these days of so-called sexual freedom and casual one-night stands, how many women have placed themselves in danger when no one else in the world knew where they were?
It's a great short story that packs a punch thriller. I loved it. Great plot, suspense, and tension. Well written, and characters are fleshed out brilliantly.
Worth Pursuing begins as a chagrined woman tries to sneak away after an abbreviated ONS. Unfortunately, in her hungover state, she has some difficulty both finding her clothes and how to exit the unfamiliar apartment.
As the action progresses, Beth realizes .
I hadn’t paid attention when I got Worth Pursuing (for free) via Bookbub so I later discovered it’s only a short story. Author LK Chapman offers the brief cautionary tale as a prequel to her full-blown novel.
While I found the plot intriguing, it didn’t impress me enough to want to pay for the follow-on book. Chapman does write well however, and might benefit from a regular publisher who could give her work wider exposure.
