Everyone in Lone Spur knows Rosie will accept even the most unlovable animal into her life. Men, though, are a different story.
Take Destry, the guy who bought the ranch next door. Sure, he’s handsome and wealthy, but he wears flip-flops to work his fields. Not that Rosie should worry about him getting hurt.
Her biggest concern is that she needs to buy her grandfather’s ranch before her uncle sells it out from under her. The problem is that on her teacher’s salary, she doesn’t qualify for a loan. Her long-time boyfriend, Tanner, proposes a solution—they can get married and qualify for a loan together, only Rosie isn’t sure if her heart is with her faithful fiancé, her ranch, or her swoon-worthy neighbor.

I’m a fan of Ms. Jamisons Austen retellings, and was excited when I saw she had a new book coming out. I love the setting, of both main characters being high school teachers – both science teachers.

This was a sweet story with likable characters and a nice romance. Rosie and Destry were both likable characters and you cant help buy root for them to figure things out. I’m not a big fan of love triangles, but I can see why authors use them and lets face it, that happens in real life all the time, so it’s realistic to use them in novels. While this is a sweet romance, it does deal with some serious issues. I appreciate when an author can keep things from getting too dark, since I like to read as a nice escape. I’m a sucker for small towns, especially ones that have that “western” feel to them. Overall, I thought this was a good read. Pretty Cover

Content: Clean, mild talk of past abuse

I enjoyed this book for the most part. The characters are strong and are doing their best to succeed in the midst of their trials. I was impressed by Rosie's tough work ethic and her determination to save her grandfather's ranch. Destry is a nice counterpoint to her often uptight demeanor with his more laid-back and charming personality. He is also a hard worker but takes things in stride. The story was interesting and engaging, but I had a hard time that even though there is attraction from the beginning, Rosie and Destry spend practically the whole book in other relationships, for reasons of convenience. There is fear on Rosie's part to put her trust in someone new, and Destry puts his heart on the line but rather quickly turns to another woman. Most of the angst is from the characters' own flaws, yet they handle their real world problems much better than their relationships. The ending wraps up the happily ever after nicely, but I would have liked to spend more time with Destry and Rosie while they were in a relationship together.

Today is release day for Rebecca Jamison's new book, Chemistry Lessons! I love when I can review books on their actual release day. It makes me feel like I'm part of a party. :)

For me, this book started off a bit slow, a bit off. I can't pinpoint exactly why that was but I as kept reading, I settled in and got to know the characters more and it felt better.

Destry is all likable, all the time. The guy is patient, helpful, thoughtful and wealthy. He is out to help people change their lives. He was easily the best part of the book. Always there, always helpful.

Rosie is so hardworking and determined but she is also very helpful and kind. Both Destry and Rosie have bits in their past that have been hard- death, substance abuse, physical abuse, estrangement from loved ones- there are all sorts of big issues and problems for both of them. I felt like these issues stayed on the surface and I never felt the gritty emotions of them with the characters. I had a lot of questions that never got answered. I felt like there were some inconsistencies as well.

I enjoyed how the story played out though. I got much satisfaction in the ending- it always happy when things come together. The setting was fun and I could easily picture what was happening. Small towns- gotta love them! This book is squeaky clean and that is always much appreciated when I read books.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

I loved the double meaning of the title. Both of the main characters are high school science teachers and then there is the aspect of the chemistry of attraction. It was a fun association for me to make in my head.

Rosie is a lot like the science that she teaches. She looks at the practical aspects of a relationship. It's not emotional. She was hurt as a teen and looks at life like a science experiment. She accepts a marriage proposal because it is a safe relationship. She respects him and is friends with him, so therefore it would make good for a good marriage. She takes out the human factor and analyzes too much.

Destry is the next door neighbor who she is reluctantly attracted to. She doesn't want to be attracted to him. After all, she is in a practical relationship. Who wants the thrill of touching another and having your heart race? He challenges what she believes about herself and what she thinks a relationship should be.

I enjoyed this book. I loved that the characters challenged each other and experienced growth as they came to know and understand each other. Destry and Rosie are good people trying to put others before themselves.

This book is a clean romance with some kissing.

Oh my horse... Anyone in for a western love romance with lots of cowboys, crazy animals, a sly grandpa and the concessions of living in a small town in the Wild West?

To be honest, my expectations were close to zero. The description didn’t sound very unique, but I’m so glad I still picked it. Maybe it was because of the beautiful cover. I thought this might be about two teachers, some dogs and some love… and a lot of chemistry stuff, which I’m totally not interested in. But I was so, so wrong. This book is so amazingly heartwarming. I constantly had a smile on my face, I must have looked like I’m bonkers. And it’s the first book ever that made me laugh! Tough, it’s hard to write this review, because having so much fun reading this, I completely forgot to make notes or to mark the really funny and romantic or just adorable scenes.

First of all, I was absolutely surprised this is set in the U.S. American west – I place I constantly dream of. And then – it’s a ranch story! One with cowboys and horses and wild animals and all! Oh gosh, I just hoped the story itself is worth this fantastic setting.

I loved everything about this book. The story is mostly characterdriven. I wish I could meet them – they are all so lovely and have their own way to deal with things happening.
The love story starts off as a triangle (I fear that many people will put off by this, but it’s far from being the typical triangle story!): Rosie and her boyfriend Tanner, but then Destry moves to town. It’s hard to describe them and all the relationships without making it sound like stereotypes, but they are far away from that.

Destry is the most awesome cowboy I’ve ever read about. Flip flops, shorts, no idea how to deal with the wild life in the Wild West between rattlesnakes and cheeky emus. Not to forget how to ride his own horse. But he has a big heart and a strong desire to help people, no matter what gets in his way. I loved how he went through disasters and never let it bounce him back or cease from his goals, but still making the best of it and make the people around him laugh.

"What's wrong?" she shouted.
"Do rattlesnakes swim?" He moved his head, watching something pass him in the water.
"Yes," she shouted.
He took another step. "Nevermind. It's gone now." The poor man was risking his life to save her cat.

Then there is Tanner. He is wealthy like Destry, but he seems to have nothing to fight for. All he has he takes for granted – this extends to Rosie. Tanner is a practical character and always judges from his point of view, unable to see what other people might think.

She stared at the spreadsheet, trying her best to focus on the numbers. What Tanner said made sense. The numbers proved it, but she hadn't expected convincing numbers to come with a marriage proposal.

And between both of them there’s Rosie, bound to a man who she hopes will help her buy the ranch of her grandfather where she lives. She knows Tanner for many years and she never thought there could be more than the typical way things go in a small town. Including marrying your high school boyfriend, because there just aren’t very much single men at her age. Marriage for passion never came to her mind.
Rosie herself is a woman with a golden heart and has a strong desire to help animals. She has lots of wounded wild animals at the ranch to nurse them and she loves all of them, even the coyote Destry accidentially shot when it killed his chicken.

"Tell me more about Wile E. What did you do with her when you got home?"
"I kept her in a basket beside my bed. It was like having a human baby. I fed her when she cried. It was exhausting, but she's become my friend for life."

It is so much fun to watch them all interact and struggle with the problems life brings to them. What it makes it even more complicated is the fact that all three of them are teachers. The title made me think there would be a lot about chemistry, but luckily it wasn’t, except for what happens between two people falling in love…

She forced out a laugh. "Well, there's no way I can get a citrine now. Every time I look at one, I'm going to think of how you said I have a shimmering beauty."
He stifled a smile. "Sorry. I'll keep my mouth shut about the other gems. I wouldn't eant to ruin all of them for Tanner."

Jamison gives so much attention to each detail – I’ve never read something like this before. She creates an absolutely unique world. All the animals have their own story and character, the houses are decorated with so much love and you can find something special in every room. What I loved most was the idea of decorating a wall with some special paintings, which first seemed really weird for the ranch, but even those have a strong history and are important for the story. Every detail has a reason to be included.

It’s the same with every other character – and you get to know a lot. When I finished the book, I felt like I lived in Lone Spur and know them all. My favorite character was Rosie’s grandfather. He’s a sly grandpa with huge wisdom and never hesitates to pass a remark – which will bring some of them in trouble not only once.

Destry rested his hands on Rosie's arms, feeling the tension in her muscles. "You can't deny this feeling between us."
Over Rosie's shoulder, Destry saw Mr. Curtis grin and give him a thumbs up before resuming his fake nap. The old guy had probably seen the whole thing.

Since it is a love story, it is quite clear from the beginning where this will end. But that’s not the important thing about this book. The path to get to this end makes this book a fantastic romance with lots of funny, weird, action-packed scenes that will make you think about the most important things in life.

She tried to think of something they could use to entice the cat out of the car. "My lunch is in there. It has bacon in it. And my purse is in the front seat. I give you full permission to go through it."
He laughed. "Full permission, huh? That'll be a first for me."

If you like strong characters or characterdriven storys and the idea of small-town troubles and ranches and a great mixture of things put together to create a really unique (I know I’m repeating myself) place, go for it. This is the most surprising, exceptional and entertaining book I can think of.

I was given an ARC to read and leave an honest review. But honestly I was excited to read a new book by Rebecca Jamison so I had already preordered it on Amazon back in April. I am happy I did not have to wait and was able to read it early. It did not disappoint. It is clean romance. The storyline grabs your attention from page one and you are hooked. It was hard to put down. The plot is fun and engaging. I loved the characters and the plot. Rosie and Destry are both strong individuals trying to get past guilt and hurt from their pasts. Rosie misjudges Destry from the start multiple times starting with a wrong first impression. I kept on reading because I wanted to see what would happen. . . would Rosie play it safe and choose her longtime boyfriend or get past her misjudgments and fall for Destry!?!? Grandpa was a fun character! Love his personality and the relationship between him and Rosie.

Great story. I highly recommend this book.

Destry and Rosie's story made me want to yell at Rosie a few times but it is a story I loved. Rosie is engaged to her best friend who has always been there and will take care of her. She doesn't know that she believes in fairy tales because of life experiences. She does know that Tanner has always been there for her and will love her and take care of her. Tanner always rubbed me wrong and seemed like he was a little obsessive about Rosie...I kind of wondered in the back of my head if he stalked her! Destry moves in next door to Rosie and is of course smitten. One of the reasons I love this book is that even thought Destry is head over heels in love, he is willing to give up everything and leave so that Rosie can be happy and live her life on her ranch with Tanner. Rosie just has to decide if that is the life she really wants! Chemistry Lessons is well worth the read.

I don't know. I enjoyed it but it was also frustrating and annoying. Frankly I was sick of ALL the characters at one point, not a good thing. It felt choppy. Somebodies feeling were this and then someone flipped a coin and it was opposite. No smooth transition except for Destry (A name I love by the way). He seemed like the only real character. Although yes, Rosie had depth she was just grrrr. Yet it was a perfect ending.

I liked Rebecca Jamison's other books, especially Persuasion. I was excited to read this book and was disappointed by it. The story moved really slow and was hard to get into. I didn't like the storyline and liked very few of the characters. I hope I like Rebecca's next book better.

Fun, clean romance novel. I loved Destry and really enjoyed the pacing of the novel. I loved some of the small details--the rescued coyote as pet, the art on the walls with post it notes as cover ups, grandpas sense of humor. I don't usually read romance, but this one was really fun.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Chemistry Lessons was a clean, contemporary romance that focused on Rosie, a woman who is trying to run her ailing grandfather's ranch, & Destry, a man who has purchased a ranch next to hers. Destry is a genuine, well-traveled, educated man who has prospered from his business and wants to help others by turning his ranch into a retreat for recovering addicts after the loss of his brother to drugs. Rosie is a hard-working, strong willed woman who wants to buy her grandfathers ranch as a home for the stray animals she has rescued over the years but doesn't qualify for a loan working as a school teacher. Her boyfriend, Tanner, a man she's known since childhood, proposes they marry and apply for the loan together so they can save the ranch. Rosie agrees but she can't help noticing her new, handsome neighbor when fate seems to be pushing him into her life in unexpected ways. She has to make the daunting choice of saving her families ranch by settling on marriage with Tanner, or possibly losing everything by taking a chance on the exciting unknown.

The character building and plot in this story were decent but the story was missing that extra something that really makes a book resonate and stick with me after reading. It began a bit slow, and I had to skim through parts of the book that didn't keep me engaged. It really bothered me that Destry had only known Rosie for a few weeks and interacted with her only a handful of times before confessing his "love" for her and kissing her, knowing that she was engaged to someone she had known since childhood. In the same page, he then tells himself that he's not going to waste his time if she doesn't want to leave her fiance for him. Other than that one incident, Destry was an all around great guy who was always there to help Rosie out when he could. By the end of the book I felt he was able to add the zest back into her life that she had lost & that everyone gained more than they lost when she & Tanner decided to go their separate ways. I really enjoyed that this story had a strong heroine. Rosie was not only smart and sassy, but was also skilled worker and able to run an entire ranch without much help at all. She had a good heart and stood up for what she believed in, even when it meant standing up against an entire town that could essentially bring her life crashing down around her.

I received this book for an honest review from ebooks. I'm going to begin my review with a quote from the book. "Mom figured Hurricanes were always named after people. Might as well name a person after a hurricane." This refers to one of the main characters Rosie. She is a hardworking young lady with a strong work ethic. Her past is consumed with abuse, death, and pain. Rosie is very strong headed and independent. She is all consuming like a hurricane to those she loves. She protects her grandfather and tries to help him while maintaining her life. She also plays life a little safe until she meets Destry. Destry's life is filled with hurt and pain from his past and he is trying to overcome and help others. This story takes place in a small town where Rosie grew up. True to small towns, everybody knows everybody's business.

This story is a wonderfully romantic story with lots of humor. It is a story of kindness, overcoming, self-control, and discovering ones true self. The story line and characters are well developed. I do hope that there is a story to follow about the relationship that occurs at the end of the book. I would love to read more about their life together and how it turns out. I would love to read more from Rebecca Jamison and look forward to any of her future books.

Some of the other quotes from the book that I liked are as follows.
"What would we do without sticky notes?" - This quote is so true!

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."

"Always rooting for the underdog. I like that about you."

"Then, just like that, his lips were on here, and it was the way she had always imagined a kiss should be, soft and delicate but as overpowering as the taste of a habanero pepper."

"Watching him through the window, it was like something cracked. The broken places inside her opened wide, making room for new possibilities."

"Do not go where the path may lead. Forge a new path."

This is a heartwarming western romance that follows Rosie and Destry. These characters don’t feel at home in their current lives and circumstances, and need to wade their way through small-town life and not hurting those close to them. Rosie is very practical and caring, but prefers to take away the emotion when dealing with a problem, and accepts Tanner’s marriage proposal because she views him as being the safe and constant port she needs. Destry is a millionaire turned cowboy/teacher who falls for Rosie. I found this story to be relatable, and found the characters to be somewhat realistic - they are almost real-life people with real-life problems. The events lead all the characters in the story to grow and develop, however, I’m left thinking that Rosie is too much of a special snowflake. After all Destry is trying to do for the town, as well as for Rosie, her ranch, and her family, she really tries to tear him down, and push him away. Even though she has gone through what she has, I just feel like she wasn’t equal to Destry. We only ever see her mindset change when Destry moves on and away, after he has thrown everything down for her. All in all, it was an enjoyable and engaging read, but I didn’t get as engrossed in this romance as I hoped.

Rosie has an eventful past that's led her to be wary of men and romance. I don't need gritty details of what happened to her, but I wanted to see more of how she overcame these hard times, especially emotionally. She's not the easiest character to like. She loves animals and the underdog, yet she just can't face reality and lives in denial and oblivion, almost to the point of losing the best things that ever happened to her. She takes the convenient road and refuses to follow her heart. Who doesn't want to be happy?

Destry, on the other hand, is very easy to love and admire. He's got his head on straight and wants to help others more than anything, sacrificing time, money, and love to do so. He's a great character and really brings a lot to the story. He's had some tough times in his past, too, but he rises above it.

I love a clean, wholesome romance and this one fits the bill, but I would have loved to see more chemistry in the romantic interactions, more of a connection with the characters and their relationship. I wanted a few more sparks. This story flows at a meandering pace and has some conflict on several levels, which adds good dimensions to the book. There is an eccentric supporting cast, which reminds me of why I love the small town feel. There are a few modern issues that are brought to awareness in a tasteful way. I'm not sure if this will be a series or not, but I did have a few unresolved questions.

This is a good read for those who like contemporary Westerns with a dash of romance and conflict.

Content: mild romance (a few G rated kisses); vague talk of drunk driving, sexual and physical abuse, drug abuse--nothing at all graphic. Clean!

Chemistry Lessons is a cozy romantic fiction novel written by Rebecca J. Jameson. It was a nice read, though started off pretty slow and took a while to connect to the characters and even that could have been improved on. But overall, it was well-written and interesting. It was a nice, light read and I have to give it props for being clean.

"Everyone in Lone Spur knows Rosie will accept even the most unlovable animal into her life. Men, though, are a different story. Take Destry, the guy who bought the ranch next door. Her long-time boyfriend, Tanner, proposes a solution—they can get married and qualify for a loan together, only Rosie isn’t sure if her heart is with her faithful fiancé, her ranch, or her swoon-worthy neighbor."-Book Blurb

The characters were both unique though there were times when they lacked depth. There were many opportunities to deal with heavier issues but this book choose not to, or the author choose to keep it light, whichever. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it felt incomplete and personally, some added depth would have been nice; it would have helped deepen the reader/character bond. Instead, I ended the book thinking "This was okay..."

[OFFICIAL RATING: 3.5 STARS]

Rosie's life has been rough with a revolving door of step-dads ranging from not great to abusive. She ran away to live with her grandparents at a young age and never went back. She's learned to work her grandfather's ranch and is desperate to be able to buy the ranch she loves so much.

Destry's new in town and has bought the property next to Rosie's ranch. He intends to build a retreat for recovering addicts, part to fulfill his brother's dream and part to atone for his own neglect of his brother's demons. Despite his tricky past and his own regrets, Destry is open and honest and friendly. He's willing to admit his mistakes and always plays the gentleman. I'd say this is probably a lot of what gets Rosie so riled. He doesn't give her any reason to be mad at him, and that frustrates her because she'd rather be mad than attracted and interested.

Rosie has a safe boyfriend, her childhood friend Tanner and in order to keep the ranch, Tanner proposes. Rosie is so burned and broken by relationships and turned off to the "love" that led her mother's own relationships, that Rosie doesn't even consider it important in her own relationships. She's settling with Tanner (who is quite obviously not a good fit). This certainly bothers Destry, but he sees it as not his place to interfere.

And from here it's a ll a question of who will finally admit their feelings first and give the other one a real chance.

This book suffered a bit from confusion and complication due to characters not communicating, but I can excuse it because of the Rosie's engagement and then Destry's new girlfriend. Each character thought they were being respectful of the others' choices.

This book worked for me for so many reasons, I really loved everything about it!

I loved Rosie, though I did wonder on her judgement when she decided to accept Tanner's proposal, but I can see the way that desperation led her to not follow her heart. I love the way that she works as hard as she possibly can to work, care for her grandfather, care for all of her animals, and care for the ranch, even as she knows there's really no way she can keep up with everything on her own.

Then there's the men, Tanner and Destry. I loved Destry, I loved that he is trying to start over and help people that really need help, not even worried about what the gossips are saying about him. I loved the way he was always trying to watch out for Rosie and put her first in almost everything he did. I especially loved the flood scene and all of the things he did for Rosie right then! What a great guy! Tanner on the other hand annoyed me just a little bit from the very first. I was rooting for Destry from the very beginning of the book!

I loved that this is a clean book that I didn't have to worry about coming across any language or yucky scenes. I loved the plot of this one, such a cute story that I didn't want to put down!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! From the very beginning of the book, it was a page turner. I loved how the characters interacted with each other. The writing was excellent, it was extremely clean with no sex or bad language. Destry is every girl’s dream guy. He’s sweet, caring, hard-working and compassionate. Rosie doesn’t have it easy with what she’s had to put up with in her life and Destry understands that and gives her what she needs even if she doesn’t know she needs it at the time. Tanner is a real piece of work. Their situation makes me wonder how often this same thing happens in small towns still and how miserable people are because of it. It was an interesting read in the fact that I’m not from a small town and realize that things aren’t always easy in small towns. There are things that people have to worry about as far as relationships go, even friendships that people from bigger cities don’t have to think twice about. When tragedy strikes in a small community, the repercussions can be devastating to everyone and cause lasting effects. Rosie experienced this first hand.
I can’t say enough good things about this book! It’s a book that I would love to read over and over again.

Rosie is a hardworking, animal-loving, levelheaded girl who teaches science at the local high school. She lives with her grandpa on his ranch, and since he has some health problems, she runs it for him. When she learns that her grandfather is thinking to sell the ranch, she hopes to somehow find enough money to buy it herself. She is dating Tanner, a younger guy that she’s known nearly her whole life. His proposal could be the answer she needs. Destry has just bought the ranch next to Rosie’s grandfather with hopes of turning it into a resort for former drug addicts. He has had difficult events in his life that have caused him to realize how much he wants to help others. As he continues to interact with Rosie, he develops other hopes for himself as well.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a clean romance. There are a lot of side stories that tie into the main one, and it was all well done. Destry is great-I really liked that he is genuine and that he tries to have fun and make Rosie smile. I liked Rosie too-she has a good heart. She takes care of her grandpa and animals and it’s really sweet. Overall this book provided a really nice escape. I would recommend it.

This was a wonderful fall. Loved the Western setting, and all of Rosie's various and sundry animals, her job, her caring for those around her. Rosie and Destry are such wonderful contrasts to each other, and Destry's calm, determined care of Rosie, her family, and all of her animals, unruffled and kind to Rosie even as he figures his way around her boyfriend/fiance, her family and her work. He truly has the desire to help, to improve the town, and find a way to help those in need of restoration with his home for recuperation/recovery for recovered addicts.
Their wonderful interactions, the small little details that Jamison writes, their emotions, Destry and Rosie's sparkling chemistry carry the novel. We of course root for Destry to find a way to soften Avery's heart. As he tries to stay true to his head, he tries to leave his heart behind, but Rosie finally figures out her own heart is worth the chance. Just wish it lasted longer and we had more of them together! Definitely chemistry there! Thanks again for another great fall!

Rosie’s found the ordinary life she craves, teaching science at Lone Spur high school, rescuing animals on her grandfather’s ranch, and dating the safest guy in town.
Destry is looking for a quiet town to lay down roots & build his brother's dream. He buys the ranch next door to Rosie's place. She soon finds, however, that Destry’s plans affect her more than she realized. In fact, they may threaten the safety of the whole community. What’s more, he has a knack for weaving himself into her life, and she enjoys his flirtatious banter much more than she wants to admit.
Chemistry Lessons brings to life two opposites—a crazy Western cat lady and an Eastern businessman—and tells the joy-filled story of what it means to be in love.
I thought that the story was cute. I liked both Rosie and Destry's personalities. I loved the colorful characters that remind me of the small town I lived in. Every town has to have a busy body, the bully, etc.
My biggest complaint is that is took too long for them to come to a happy place. I would have liked more than an epilogue of their happily ever after.

This was my first story that I've read by this author and I enjoyed it!

The main character Rosie has spunk, hard worker, caring towards animals and people. The kind of neighbor you would want next door. She lives with her Grandfather on his ranch taking care of him, the ranch, stray animals, and teaching at the local high school.

She meets her new neighbor Destry under unfortunate circumstances when he uses up her daily water allotment on her ranch. Other unfortunate events keep happening that make Rosie like Destry less and less.

Eventually they seem to hit it off as friends and possibly as more, but Rosie has a "safe" boyfriend who has been around for years. Rosie starts to question which man would be right for her in the long run and not just who makes her heart race.

Although Rosie's family relationships and upbringing weren't ideal, she didn't use that as an excuse, which I really respected.

Chemistry lessons had a good steady plot, clean romance, and was fun to read!

What a great book! I was taken in by the cover first thing. I've read and loved other books by this author, so I was excited that she had a new one. I loved the characters and the humor. I laughed out loud a few times. Could Destry get any better?! I liked that he wasn't described as the best looking guy around, but his personality made him totally hot. He was the kindest, most thoughtful, selfless, helpful person. What a great mentor and positive role model. Great self control especially when the boyfriend threw a sissy punch. I never knew where the book was going to go. The scene in his truck during the flood waters was one of my favorites. Great quick, clean, summer read. Loved the well developed characters (Grandpa was a hoot), setting, and story line. Can't wait for more from this author. I will definitely read this one again. The MC does tell about a step father who abused her, but it only hints at what happened. Nothing graphic. I would recommend this one for teens on up. This story was full of good, clean, entertaining romance. I thoroughly enjoyed how we got to know Rosie and Destry. Destry's personality came through from the very first description of his flip-flops on a southwestern ranch. Rosie's strength and stubbornness also shone from the beginning. I liked how Rebecca Jamison helped the characters stay true to their values and standards, despite their obvious attraction.

It was also interesting to see how Rosie and Destry's relationship developed and how they both dealt with how addiction had affected their lives. Some of the events that brought us to the ending were a bit corny, but overall the whole plot and story worked.

I enjoyed seeing how each character grew and changed into better people, using their experiences to launch them into a better place and how their choices, though not always perfect, gave a fairly good idea of the reality the characters lived in.

A good, clean romance! Thank you!!!

This was a sweet story! I enjoyed the ranch and small-town setting (gotta love small towns!). I loved reading about all the ranch animals and details about running a ranch and the challenges and hard work involved. Grandpa was a hoot!
Both Destry and Rosie were strong characters with a desire to work hard and help other people. They both had several things in their pasts that they were working to overcome. I felt like some of these issues were just kind of glossed over and not really explored in depth, so I didn't get to know the characters as well as I'd like. There were a couple of other parts of the story towards the ending as well that I wanted to see more resolution with and I was left with some unanswered questions.
Overall, I enjoyed it and was happy to see everything come together in the end.

This is the fourth book I have read by Rebecca Jamison. I have really liked her other books and was excited to read this book when I saw it. I liked the real town feel to the book. I could imagine this town really existed somewhere. Destry was a great character. He was thoughtful, helpful and trying his best to be accepting of those around him. He had made mistakes in the past but he was learning from them and becoming a better person in the process. Tanner on the other hand was very immature and controlling. I was very frustrated with Rosie's inability to see that the differences between the two men. Rosie does have a history that helps you understand why she is so blind to it. I loved the quirks of the secondary characters in the book. The ending was cute and everything ended up to my satisfaction.

Destry is a successful businessman who feels like he's sacrificed too much for his success; after all, he wasn't able to help his own brother. So he has moved to the small town of Lone Spur to build a resort for former addicts so they won't follow the same path of self-destruction his brother did. He didn't expect to find someone like Rosie. Unfortunately, Rosie is content with her lifelong friend Tanner - after watching her mother fall in love and then fail in marriage so many times, Rosie isn't looking for love, she's looking for security. But Rosie works with Destry and lives next door to him so keeping her heart safe from him isn't going to be as easy as she thinks.

Overall I thought this was a sweet read, but I felt like it dragged in places and then wrapped up too quickly and neatly at the end.

I signed up to receive this book and then give a review. I would say that this book moved rather slow for me and I found myself increasingly frustrated with the main female character and her entire town. What kind of backwards place is this? They dont prosecute drunk drivers? It seemed a bit far fetched to me. On the other hand, the love story wasnt so terrible but I kind of figured that it would end the way it did. I also definitely figured that her best friend was in love with her ex-fiance. The author made that very clear from the get-go. The slow build up of the relationship while I didnt personally respond to I understand was probably the best for two characters that have been wounded over the years. In the end I was a bit happy to see that she put herself out there rather than the male character having to do it. Took me about 4 hours to read.

This is a great book. It took me a few chapters to get into the book, but once I did, I didn't want to put it down. It could have been that I was simply not in the right mood for the book when I first picked it up. After I read the first few chapters, I set it down for a few days and read a couple other books. Once I picked it back up, the story drew me in.

Destry and Rosie are great characters. The more I got to know them, the more I liked them. I liked a lot of the other characters as well. I would not be averse to reading other stories featuring these characters. There was a lot of tension in this story, but I felt the story evolved and unfolded well.
