Evie is a determined, ingenious and sassy little Strawberry Fairy who lives in an old teapot. Join Evie and her friends, the flower fairies and creatures of Wildberry Woods, on their magical adventures in this first book in the Evie the Strawberry Fairy series.
When Evie's strawberry patch is flooded she needs to find somewhere for her strawberry plants to live – the flower fairies' backyard is too crowded, the pond is too swampy and the woods are too dark. With the help of her friends, Evie moves her plants to their new home on the little hill, but they still won't grow. What has Evie forgotten?
Through Evie's adventures, young readers will learn about the natural world – how plants grow and how all living things are connected. This is a story about determination, working together, caring for each other and putting mistakes right. Stefanie Dahle's illustrations are charming, detailed and full of character and fun.
Stefanie Dahle was born 1981 in Schwerin and spent countless hours looking at picture books and painting the walls of her room even when she was a child. At the HAW Hamburg she studied illustration – and today she creates her own imaginative and beautiful picture book worlds that let the reader spend many hours with day-dreaming.
Stefanie Dahle’s luminous illustrations enchant more and more children all around the world. Her picture books are exclusively published by Arena. Her illustrations are full of imagination and details – and most of the books are outfitted with high-quality design like glitter and shimmering effects.
A beautifully-illustrated children’s book about Evie, a little fairy girl, who lives in an old teapot on a strawberry patch deep in the woods. She loves nature: plants and insects, and even rain. Unfortunately, it has been raining non-stop for a week and her home is about to get flooded. Evie’s worried about her strawberries that won’t grow if left to sit in the puddles. Evie is caring and enterprising, so she sets out to find a new home for her beloved plants. Her friends are there for her in the time of need. An old abandoned birdhouse seems perfect with just enough water and plenty of sunlight around, but the berries are looking pale. In her hurry to move, Evie forgot to invite ladybirds and they are essential for protection against greenflies. Finally, everything is set and Evie can enjoy her new home. I loved how this book gently introduces children to what plants need to survive: water (some need it more, some less), sunlight, friendly insects, and, of course, lots of loving care. Evie is a cute character, blessed with great friends. She is also responsible, observant and willing to learn from her own mistakes, which is a great message for young readers. Stefanie Dalhen lastenkirjoissa on henkeäsalpaavan kaunis kuvitus!
Originally published in Germany, this picture book follows a sweet fairy who loves strawberries, hence, her name. Evie also loves the rain, but as anyone who has ever tried to grow strawberries knows, those berries don't thrive in too much wetness. After her patch floods, this Strawberry Fairy starts looking for a new place to stay and to move her berry plants until things dry out. Eventually, she finds just the right spot--a birdhouse that is in a sunny spot. With help from several friends, she moves her plants and possessions. But to her surprise, the strawberries aren't thriving. It turns out that she has forgotten to bring along some ladybugs to scare off the insects that are plaguing her berries. Created with pencils, watercolor, pastels, and gouache, the hand-drawn illustrations are filled with light and humor and much activity, and the text reminds readers that most mistakes can be fixed, but that it is important to think through decisions carefully rather than impulsively. After all, even a fairy can make a mistake and need some help from others.

In Evie and the Strawberry Patch Rescue we follow a Strawberry fairy that lives in a teapot in the woods. Because of the rain her house is suddenly flooded and so begins her journey to find a new home (all the other fairies live in a tree and there's no space available for her). The illustrations are lovely, soft and colorful and Evie is absolutely cute. This is a picture book very appropriate for young children. It portrays a message of friendship. It is an easy, fun read.
A sweet story about a fairy whose strawberry patch is being flooded and the steps she and her animal friends take to save the berries from rotting. The story seemed a bit stilted at times, but that may be due to the fact that it is translated from its original German.
A strawberry fairy's strawberry patch gets flooded, so she moves. The story is straight-forward and a little wordy. The art is good. The fairy has wings, but never flies?
