Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home.
Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

I absolutely love this series! Kathi Daley's writing gets better with every book, and this one is definitely no exception.

Mystery, gorgeously described Hawaiian Islands and a sweet dose of budding romance all combine to make Murder at Sunrise a "must read" for cozy mystery fans.

Yet another killer cozy by Kathi Daley!

I really like Laini, she's badass. My main issue with this series is the endings. It's always very fast at the end to explain everything.

Murder At Sunrise ( A Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery - Book 2 )
By: Kathi Daley

Murder At Sunrise is book two of A Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series . Kathi Daley has herself another winner series. I love the story and the characters, both are easy to follow. When you start reading one of Daley’s mysteries you do not want to put it down till the end. She had me hooked right from the start with a dead body and it is one of the seniors in Lani’s group that was having a Sunrise service. Is one of the seniors a killer? Lani has her hands full trying to narrow down the killer. She also has the help of a handsome cowboy, Luke, who is her friend and all the seniors ladies like him. There is action on sand and sea, so you don’t wan’t to miss out on Murder at Sunrise.

I was very blessed to get away to Vancouver Island this weekend for a baseball tournament and while I was not on the tropical island of Hawaii it was wonderful to pretend as I read Kathi Daley's second in the Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series, Murder at Sunrise. I love the way Kathi writes and I really feel she captures the essence of the Hawaiian feel in her writing. Getting to know the characters a bit better in this second book and learning more about them made the book feel so real. I appreciate the different dynamics between the characters and love the age difference. I think that having so many characters that are of different ages adds so much dimension to this story.

Murder at Sunrise is the second book in the A Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series by Kathi Daley. Set in Hawaii, the descriptions are so vivid I can picture the characters surfing and living right at the ocean’s shore relaxing to the sound of the surf. Kailani ‘Lani’ Pope and her brothers are native Hawaiians. Lani is attending the sunrise celebration of the summer solstice with her friend, Elva Talbot, and members a senior group. Elva introduces Lani to a newcomer, Stuart Bronson. He doesn’t have a conch shell to blow into as the first rays of the summer sun appear over the horizon so Lani rushes to her vehicle to get an extra one. When Lani returns with the shell, Stuart has stepped away and misses the ceremony. Lani is a petite lifeguard who dreams of becoming a police officers like her brothers. Lani volunteers weekly with an active group of senior citizens. When a newcomer to the island is pushed off a cliff, the senior citizens are determined to help Lani and her friend, Luke, solve the mystery. Lani asks Luke Austin, a transplanted Texan who lives in Oahu breeding horses, to help her keep the seniors safe. The victim was a fairly new member of the senior citizen group that Lani volunteers at. Was this an accident or murder? A romance seems to be blossoming between Lani and Luke. Will Lani share her heart with someone from Texas?

An entertaining, well written cozy mystery. Crafted with numerous of twists to keep you guessing whodunit until the very end. I’m looking forward to seeing how this series develops. Although this can be read as a stand-alone book, I think readers would enjoy reading this series in order. If you are a fan of the cozy genre this series is for you. Murder at Sunrise a "must read" for cozy mystery fans young and old. I highly recommend this book.

Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed in this review are my own

Murder at Sunrise is the second book in Kathi Daley’s new Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series. Ms. Daley has once again given readers a wonderfully crafted whodunit that quickly becomes a page-turner thanks to a great setting, a feel-good atmosphere, engaging dialogue, and a great cast of relatable characters. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment in this series and seeing how the characters and their relationships develop.

Kailani ‘Lani’ Pope is attending the sunrise celebration of the summer solstice with her friend, Elva Talbot, and members of Elva’s senior group. Elva introduces Lani to a newcomer, Stuart Bronson, and when she learns he doesn’t have a conch shell to blow into as the first rays of the summer sun appear over the horizon she rushes to her vehicle to grab an extra one. When Lani returns with the shell, Stuart has stepped away to talk on his phone and misses the ceremony. As the seniors prepare to leave, they doesn’t see Stuart but his car is still in the parking lot, so Lani sets out to search for him. Sadly, she finds him floating in the water. Lani’s brother Jason, who is a detective for the Honolulu Police Department, asks her to talk to a few people and keep her ears open. When Lani learns that several of the seniors are planning to investigate on their own, she asks Luke Austin, a transplanted Texan who lives in Oahu breeding horses, to help her keep them safe.

The second in her Hawaiian Series. Kathy once again delivers a well written, well paced, well edited cozy mystery. While a relative newcomer she has shown she understands her audience well and is an adept story teller.
She populates her books with interesting characters. She always has a longer term story line running in conjunction with the short term mystery plot for the book. It allows you to invest in the series knowing that there will be future adventures for the group of characters that you come to know. I also like that she lets her characters grow from book to book.
This particular series is set in Hawaii and features a petite lifeguard that dreams of being a police officer like her brothers. The heroine is a strong, intelligent independent woman. She surrounds herself with friends who are of a like mind. These are clean reads and would be suitable for a young adult.
If you are a fan of the cozy genre these are for you. Kathi is a master of the cozy mystery.

This is the second book in the latest new series by Kathi Daley, and I loved this one even more than the first one. The amazing descriptions of beautiful Hawaiian locales make me feel as though I am actually there with the characters. The romance between Lani and Luke is getting more intense, and I can't wait to see where it goes in future books.

The mysterious murder of a senior citizen at a sunrise ritual to welcome the summer solstice has Lani anxious to find the killer--and this time around, her brothers seem a little more willing to accept her help. All the other seniors are eager to help as well, especially when Luke offers to be the point of contact for them.

As with most of Kathi's books, this was one I could put down once I started reading it. I can hardly wait for my next literary visit to Hawaii!

Kathi Daley has done it again with another amazing must read series. Murder at Sunrise is book two in A Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery. Set in the most beautiful place on earth with gorgeous beaches, great surfing, friendly people and MURDER???
Lani has her senior bingo group at the beach for a sunrise ceremony to welcome the summer solstice. But sadly the ceremony ends with the death of one of the seniors. Is there a killer in the bingo group or something entirely different? Lani has her hands full between her job, family, Luke and now murder. Lani is determined to get to the bottom of why someone would want to kill one of the seniors.
With the help of handsome cowboy Luke and a quirky set of seniors they begin an investigation that is full of excitement and maybe romance?
This is a fast paced, full of intrigue mystery series that Cozy fans will not be able to put down.

This second book of Kathi Daley's new adult series set in Hawaii is again as complicated and fascinating as the first book. I think you would best enjoy reading this series in order.

Providing a service and protecting the public is a family tradition. While her cop brother was not in favor of Lani's involvement last time, now he invites her to use her connections to gather information. Of course he never wants to put her in danger. Lani seems to have a talent for that on her own.

I find it interesting how the author can make me believe the story is headed in one direction only to take her readers down a different path.
A mix of friendship and family, budding romance and mystery.

In book 2, Lani finds herself finding another dead body. He was a fairly new member of the senior citizen group that she volunteers. She only met him a few hours before and he was less than friendly. Despite trying to stay away from investigating the case, she finds herself in the middle when the senior group decides they want to play detective.

Another quick paced read by the author.

Loving this new series, set in Hawaii, by Kathi Daley. In this second installment Kathi leads you on a merry chase to find the culprit. Whether she's surfing, saving lives, or playing bingo Lani can't stop trying to figure out who murdered a new member of her seniors group. I was pleased to tag along with Lani, Luke, and some eccentric members of their seniors group to find out just whodunit!!!

Better than the first!

As much as I liked the first Sand and Sea mystery, I enjoyed this one even more. I love how the characters are developing and the plots are completely original. The descriptions of the places and events make you feel like you are there. I can't wait to see what lies ahead for the seniorschit especially for Luke and Lani!

I really love this series. An easy to read cozy mystery set in beautiful Hawaii. I love all the characters from Lani to the group of seniors she hangs out with. I also love Luke and their I hope budding relationship. I liked the story line but I found the ending a bit strange and the person who was the guilty party seems to have been mentioned like once and never again. So not the best one for a mystery but the characters and side stories are so great that I enjoyed the read.

Murder At Sunrise
A Sand And Sea Hawaiian Mystery, Book #2
Kathi Daley
5 Stars

Synopsis:

When one of the seniors in Lani's senior bingo group ends up dead during a sunrise ceremony to welcome the summer solstice, Lani sets out to find a killer with the help of Luke and her senior friends. (Goodreads)

Review:

Lani enjoys spending time with her senior friends. She likes their company and feels like she can learn a lot about life from the experiences they share. So it is no surprise that she is with them at a sunrise service to welcome in the summer solstice. What is a surprise is her finding a dead body of one of the seniors that are present. Since she is the one to find the victim, she feels compelled to help find the killer.

The characters are well developed and well rounded. Lani is spunky and does not like being told she cannot do something. But this time around, I feel like she has grown up some and is willing to work with her brother, who is law enforcement, instead of competing with him. I enjoyed reading about this growth. She still has her beach friends and her condo “family” to help with the investigation, as well as many of her senior friends. The author is so talented in character development and I always feel like I want the characters I am reading about to be actual friends.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The mystery is carried on throughout the entire book and was not easily solved. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and enough suspects to make identifying the culprit difficult. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and much of the time I felt like I was right there in the middle of all the action.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I would suggest starting with the first book in the series, Murder At Dolphin Bay, to see where all the fun began.

I just finished Murder At Sunrise book two of A Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series . Kathi Daley has wowed us again. I am going to be as fond of this series as I are of all her other series. This series is set in Hawaii. I get these wonderful pictures in my head of these characters surfing and living right on the beautiful ocean. Lani is the main character - a lifeguard at a local result. She is a native and has brothers in law enforcement. Lani spends time each week with a spunky group of senior citizens. When a newcomer to the island is pushed off a cliff, the senior ladies decide to help Lani and her friend Luke solve the murder. Stay tuned for the romance and a slightly complicated solving of the murder.. Fantastic as usual.

The Sand and Sea Mystery books are quickly becoming one of my favorite Kathi Daley series. Murder at Sunrise is the second in the series and does not disappoint. When Lani discovers a newcomer to the senior group dead, to her surprise, he brother asks her for her help in solving the crime. Even with the seniors helping with the investigation, there are twists and surprises around every corner.

"Murder at Sunrise" is the second book in the "Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery" series. It is a very good stand-alone book - I have not read book one, but I felt right at home with this book. The series appeals to me because I lived in Hawaii for five years, and I feel that Daley has captured the heart of the island and its people, as well as the very tangible military presence. Kailani "Lani" Pope attends a senior gathering to celebrate the summer solstice with her friend Elva. The next thing they know Lani is diving into the water to retrieve the body of the well dressed gentleman that her friend Elva is crushing on.

Lani is walking a fine line between wanting to be an active part of the investigation, and staying out of the way so that she does not offend her brother Jason, who is a policeman, and is actually in charge of said investigation. Then there is Luke, Lani's not quite boyfriend, With the help of Elva and the other seniors (and Luke!), Lani brings in clues for her brother that move the case forward, and, in the end, break it wide open!

The characters are interesting, well developed, and realistic. The scenery, and the tone of the island, is well presented. The pace of the book is consistent, with the little incidental situations, such as Lani being involved in saving two lives through her job at the resort, moving things forward nicely. I enjoyed this book, and intend to follow the series.

Murder at Sunrise is the second book in the Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series. Lani, whose full time job as a lifeguard keeps her busy, also spends time with a group of very lively seniors. When a newcomer to the senior group is found dead, the seniors take it upon themselves to investigate. Lani, and her friend Luke, also investigate and have their hands full trying to keep the seniors in line. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series! Definitely recommend!

Lani is participating in a sunrise ritual at the beach on the summer solstice with her senior group when she finds one of the new members in the water. When it turns out the man had been murdered, Lani's detective brother asks her for some help. Several of the ladies of the group decide that they're going to help Lani and Luke solve the murder. Solving it brings a lot of intrigue their way.

This book was well-written with wonderful characters. I recommend it and the series.

Lani and Luke

A new man at the Senior Center is killed right after Lani meets him--in fact, she is the one who finds the body. Her brother asks for her help this time since she knows the seniors. She finds out that this was about thefts of military supplies and in the end the murderer makes a try for her. Lots of action. Can't wait to read the next one!

Enjoying the series and look forward to seeing how the romance progresses between Lani and Luke. It is also obvious that Lani's brothers are starting to trust her intuition a bit more in solving murders. I did find the many characters in this a bit confusing, hence, the 4 star instead of 5. I also look forward to Lani getting even with Drake!

Readers get an opportunity to visit Hawaii

Book 2 has Lani and Luke sharing more adventures. Lani gets to meet 2 new fouls on Luke's horse ranch along with meeting a couple of friends of Luke from the mainland. Good read. Wasn't expecting it to end where it did but there are 8 more books in this series.

Fun read

A fun (well, not for the fictional victims) cozy mystery Tropicana style. Easy to read in a day. A splendid splash of danger, mystery, mixed with an ongoing just budding romance.
