-a Henderson's Ranch story- A Navy SEAL without an arm is as useful as... Stan Corman hates waking up each morning to discover he's lost an arm, his war dog, his teammates, and his calling. The only thing worse? Going to sleep to face the nightmare of that single, life-changing moment. Mark Henderson sends Stan to his family horse ranch beneath Montana's Big Sky. Not even a shard of hope remains until Bertram, a Malinois puppy left on his doorstep, has different ideas about Reaching Out at Henderson's Ranch.
USA Today and Amazon #1 Bestseller M. L. “Matt” Buchman started writing on a flight south from Japan to ride his bicycle across the Australian Outback. Just part of a solo around-the-world trip that ultimately launched his writing career.
From the very beginning, his powerful female heroines insisted on putting character first, then a great adventure. He’s since written over 60 action-adventure thrillers and military romantic suspense novels. And just for the fun of it: 100 short stories, and a fast-growing pile of read-by-author audiobooks.
Booklist says: 3x “Top 10 of the Year.” PW says: “Tom Clancy fans open to a strong female lead will clamor for more.” His fans say: “I want more now…of everything.” That his characters are even more insistent than his fans is a hoot. As a 30-year project manager with a geophysics degree who has designed and built houses, flown and jumped out of planes, and solo-sailed a 50’ ketch, he is awed by what is possible. This is a short - short - short story. It is vivid, well done, showing the horrors of war , PTSD, and the resilience of man kind. I really enjoyed this book till the end. I turned the page, and there was nothing. It felt like there should be another chapter, something. As much as love this author and his works I am disappointed in the novellas.
This one starts out sad for Stan. He's at a cross-roads, he thinks he's at the end of the road. But the peace of the ranch and a little butting in by Ama change Stan's life. By the end of the story Stan is in a much better head space and at the start of a new adventure.
These Henderson's Ranch books have so much potential to be amazing stories, but--so far--they are far to short for the character and plot development I'd like to see.
Novella length story about a retired military guy who is recovering from his physical and psychological injuries with the help of Montana and a dog. Good read.
A really great story with an in-depth look at someone suffering with PTSD. Our hero shows how much you can gain through perseverance. And all the secondary characters, both human and non-human just added another layer to the engaging story. Other than a few typos my only complaint would be the shortness of the book. Would love a few more chapters. Another M.L. Buchanan hit.
A short, short story. It seems to be the first chapter for a future book. Good story. If you have read the Night Stalker's series then you know the Hendersons & their ranch.
