Spring the trap and risk it all. When Liora’s brother is kidnapped as thinly-veiled trap, she follows with the intent of springing it on her own terms. But her plans fall away when she finds that the danger has a greater reach than she could have imagined.

Liora finds herself fighting for not only her life, but for mortalkind.

If she succeeds, she could thwart the paramount threat to the Macrocosm and those she loves; if she fails, mortalkind will fall at her side. Yet the price of survival may be far greater than Liora is willing to pay.

Liora has the ability to 'push' emotions and thoughts to any lifeforms and draw energy from a planet. She's learning about her abilities and there's a 'darkness' out in the universe that knows who she is and by the end of this book Cheree Alsop has put this character through an emotional and physical hell. Emotive writing, effective landscape description, and relentless enemies. At the end of this book in the series I now must ask WHO/WHAT is Liora Day the half-blood Damaclan Queen? Anyone out there who wants a book that won't leave your hands until finished should read this series.

Starting from where we left off, Tariq is on his feet, and with Liora, heading into danger once more. This time though, Devren stays behind as Liora's father has given him a job in his fleet. Along with some familiar faces, Liora and Tariq go to rescue Brandis. They know it's a trap, but hope that by knowing, they will somehow survive it. Things take a twist though when the Ketulans attack the Nines that they are travelling in. Liora finds herself in a fight which has nothing to do with her, to begin with, but once she finds out more about what she is fighting for, quickly makes it her own. She does what needs to be done, and instead, brings the army with her to rescue her brother.

This book broke me apart! Quite simply, from Chapter 13 onwards (roughly 57%) I was in tears. And not quiet sniffles either, but great big heart-wrenching sobs that tore through my body, leaving me feeling exhausted with red eyes and a runny nose!!! It was lovely - not!! Just as I thought I was getting past it, Liora would have a memory, or flashback, or something, and I would start again.

I love it when a character becomes so believable at the author's hands that this happens! Okay, so maybe I didn't like it as I was reading because the sense of loss was unbelievable, but still...

Push past the tears and enjoy this book as it is a wonderful jewel in the crown of this series. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

I was enjoying this series quite a lot and had hopes for this book based on events at the end of the previous book but this book is a classic example of "jumping the shark". It's bad. I'm not even sure I will finish the series at this point. Nothing from the previous books has carried over. The enemy is now some voice in her head that was using or part of moss spores trying to invade the milky way (lame). Why give Liora her own team to turn around and drop them from the story. And Liora herself now has gills???? What?????? As I said, jumping the shark bad.

Each book just gets better. Liora is such a great character. She has such a big heart and cares so much more for those around her than she does for herself. She just charges headlong into danger. But this book.... Just get the tissues ready.

Can take the girl away from the Damaclans, but can't take the Damaclan out of the girl!

Liora has been in a lot of trouble in a lot of different places, but she kind of steps it up a notch in this book, and I wasn't entirely sure she and her friends could get into more trouble than they already had a habit of doing. Apparently I was wrong. Her journey to save her brother takes a sharp turn when she's waylaid and forced to fight for her life and those around her. In typical form, she can cause huge amounts of carnage when she has a mind to do so. Still, there are unexpected discoveries even before she gets away to follow Brandis, and she ends up in a better position to rescue him than she started out. But it's still not enough to prevent some really devastating losses, and of course a different supposed authority shows up to declare her in violation of a treaty she's never heard of. Off to yet another place that wants her in chains, and another place that doesn't want to trust her, no matter what happens or the reasons why she did what she did. Still, the new realizations show some improvements, and get her and Brandis (and her brother's new girlfriend) off to a safe planet to relax. Not that Liora knows how to relax, and she gets herself into trouble for a reveal that I totally didn't see coming, but it's a much more open-ended cliffhanger than the others so far.

Like the first three books, this is definitely a series, and there's little to no introduction to the characters that we met earlier. There's also a big cliffhanger readying us for the last book. We've had more setting depth throughout this book. It seems like each time they make progress on their quest, they get set backward at the same time. I'm not sure how many more books there will be, but it seems like there's always one more thing that Liora and her friends need to accomplish. Looking forward to book five!

I received a free beta reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

While I've enjoyed the series as a whole, I have mixed feelings about this book.

Liora is suddenly much more than she seems with little or no explanation. Tariq's death felt like a footnote to drive the plot. Oh, and apparently with everything going on in the last three books, nobody thought to mention that there's an entire galactic council / police force that holds sway and prosecutes those that use the energy of planets for personal gain. And somehow showed up on the planet Liora was on at the time with no notice while she was attempting to rescue her brother.

It all feels very contrived and convenient. The stuff with the Charum and Vos, the moss creature, and then suddenly the galaxy has expanded beyond previously explained limits, and we're left to roll with it because nobody really needs to explain. Brandis and Commandant Day were apparently aware all along. But space just got larger after being conveniently small for several books.

Also, Liora has way, waaaaay too much plot armor. She can be stabbed, cut, beaten, burned, frozen in the cold of space, and absolutely sliced to ribbons and still somehow be in fighting shape to handle the next crisis, no matter how long it's been since receiving her injuries.

At this point she's bled out enough to easily kill another three individuals and walked away mildly inconvenienced and only afraid someone will see her "weakness" for crying out loud. Injuries that would have a normal person in rehab for potentially years just leave her mildly inconvenienced for a few days or weeks and she always heals up just fine. It's beginning to stretch the limits of my suspension of disbelief.

The twist at the end was interesting, and I look forward to see where things go in the last book. But this was not my favorite in the series by any means, and felt like a middling novel to set up the events of the next.

This one rubbed me the wrong way, and I skimmed quickly to the end. Liora miraculously survives impossible situations, defeats all her enemies, and suffers a devastating loss that I hope will be reversed. She also manages to rescue quite a few people.
Typos: while skimming quickly, I noticed "head's up" (should be heads up), an uncapitalized sentence start, and one instance of incorrect end quote punctuation.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible Membership)

Trying to rescue her brother, Liora encounters not one but two species that believed they were entitled to take over planets, their people and the resources they contained.
Of course, this kind of rubbed the wrong way with Liora and though it caused herself some angst in the end, she refused to tolerate any one or thing enslaving any other species.

Another great book to continue the saga!

I took a break to read a few other books but upon my return I found myself being welcomed into the continuing story. In spite of, or perhaps because of, her challenges Warden Day continues to face all challenges. This is an extremely enjoyable story.

Day's Journey, the fourth book of the Girl from the Stars series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I enjoyed this installment almost as much as book 1. Plenty of suspense, conflict, and plot twists/reveals. Day's Journey was more emotional and unpredictable.

Author has done a good job of getting me to like the characters. Not gonna lie I was mad about the character development when I got to the end of the book. I almost didn't continue the series.

Had it's ups and downs

The story was intresting but it did get to a point where it was gee another life or death battle with an omnipotent being(s). It seems Liora's entire time is tripping for one cat-tatrophe to another with very little down time or happy moments. I like Liora but the situations get tedious.
