Scarlett Easton is visited by Jim Kennedy on her property when they both hear a strange noise. She knew Jim when they were teenagers, and he has only recently returned to Timberline, and is now her neighbour. When they investigate the noise, they find a dead body! The body belongs to a motorcycle club that has operated in Timberline for a while, one that Jim also was once a part of a long time ago. When they investigate, they find links to a 25 year old kidnapping known as the "Timberline Trio." And then they start getting threatened in order to stay quiet!

If this weren't part of a series, it could have gotten a higher score, because as is usual for the Intrigue line, this doesn't bother to resolve major parts of the plot in order to get you to read the next one in the mini-series. A big no-no for me! In my opinion, if you're going to have a mini-series, each entry should be able to be read as a standalone, with each book contributing to an overriding theme. But each book should have a clear resolution!

However, there were other small faults. There wasn't a whole lot of mystery here. There's no real whodunit as to who is threatening Jim and Scarlett. But the pacing is quick, and the various scenarios in which Jim and Scarlett are targeted are genuinely suspenseful, and occasionally creepy. I'm not sure why it was necessary for Scarlett to have ESP. She barely uses it. Plus, I don't like supernatural elements in otherwise non-supernatural stories. Make your story supernatural, or don't! The ending is a bit flat, and feels rushed.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense with lots of fast paced exciting action and a whirlwind romance. In fact, there was so much bad guy action that I started to get a bit skeptical but I plan to read the final book in the series to see the evil kingpin get taken down. Scarlett hears a noise outside her cabin then neighbor Jim is knocking at her door wondering the same so they go check it out together.

Scarlet and Jim were little when the other three children were kidnapped from Timberline. Jim went off to war but he never really forgot about the kidnappings. This is something that has been unsolved for twenty five years and everyone involved tries to do their part in finding the missing children or at least bringing closure for the town.

Scarlet has returned to Timberline for the same reason to find closure in to the Timberline Trio case. All kinds of bad things keep happening to her. Will things work out for them. Will they be able to solve the case.

Check out the book. I couldn't wait to finish this book but I still have not figured out the mystery. Now off to read the last book in the series.

The thrilling romantic suspense series “Target: Timberline” from author Carol Ericson continues with Book 3, “Army Ranger Redemption”. Wounded in body and spirit, army ranger veteran Jim Kennedy goes home to Timberline to deal with haunting issues from his past and to figure out what his future will be. He isn’t prepared to run into beautiful Scarlett Easton and to then stumble into a murder mystery somehow connected to the Timberline Trio kidnapping case from many years ago. Scarlett is surprised by Jim’s sudden reappearance, but she is even more stunned by the fact that Jim’s war experience and outward scars have done nothing to take away from his attractiveness. They had attended high school together, and she had always been drawn to his “bad boy”, motorcycle-riding persona. Jim couldn’t fail to notice that the pretty young girl he remembered had bloomed into a beautiful and intriguing woman. Scarlett, a native Quileute and talented artist, had been gifted with her family’s extra-sensory ability of “sight” and enhanced perception and intuition. Touching Jim lets her know that he has suffered much and says little. As the danger surrounding them escalates, they discover that they both have a legacy tied to the Timberline Trio. Will it prove to be a deadly legacy for Scarlett and Jim, or is their hope for them to put the past behind them and look forward to a happy future together? I really enjoyed “Army Ranger Redemption”—my favorite book so far in the series—and its very appealing hero. I am looking forward to Book 4, “In the Arms of the Enemy” to reach the conclusion of the “Target: Timberline” mystery.

Scarlett is the shaman in her community..she is an artist that lives off the rez in a cabin in the woods..One night she keeps hearing sounds...Than someone knocks on her door..It turns out to be Jim, a boy she crushed on in school. They end up going out to look around and stumble over a dead body..that is the first of many mishaps that start happening to Scarlett. Things are also happening to Jim. Is it the LOC behind all of it? It points out that way until Jim and Scarlett figure out where some drugs have been buried..they go to uncover the secret and are both held at gunpoint....A very good story that kept me turning the pages..You will love this book in the series

I love it when the hero was a "bad boy" in high school - although this time, he really wasn't, just perceived that way because of his father! Jim Kennedy is one of those "dark, brooding heroes" that is a former war hero with plenty of things in his past to deal with. He comes back to his home town to deal with some of that when he meets up with Scarlett Easton who was always the "good girl". Scarlett, on the other hand, always liked Jim in high school but they didn't run in the same circles. Suddenly, things begin to happen to both of them that put them in life-threatening danger and they are thrown together to try to figure out what is happening. I really had a hard time putting this book down! There is a lot of action and suspense to keep you turning those pages. This series of books is a great one and I can't wait for the next book, which is the end, to wrap up all the questions. This one, however, answers several questions from previous books! I would definitely recommend it!

A page turner!! This is the second in the Target: Timberline and while some of the mystery from 25 years earlier is solved, not all of it is. Which leaves us looking for the next installment.
Carol Ericson has clearly defined characters that have depth to them. She has thought this series out and is carefully taking us through it with great suspense and romance. I like that Scarlett Easton has some psychic abilities and those get her targeted. Jim Kennedy is a great character with all sorts of past angst that make him that much more lovable to Scarlett (and us).
The tempo of the book is fast paced and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested.
I was given this book for an honest review and I'm telling you that you need to read this book - it's great! It will read fine as a standalone, but who doesn't want to know the story before the story?
Enjoy!

This is the third book in the Target Timberline series. Jim was the bad boy at Scarlet's high school. Jim comes back to Timberline after his Father's death and get caught up in the danger with Scarlett. This is a fast moving plot with lots of twists and turns. I loved Jim and Scarlett and really enjoyed this book. Cannot wait to see how it ends
