Ok I know this book is out of my typical wheelhouse lol but I have to write a review. My daughter and I absolutely love Pete the Cat books!! I’ve read these stories to her dozens of times. If you haven’t tried out Pete the Cat then you’re seriously missing out on a “groovy” experience ✌🏼

This anthology contains twelve brief Pete the Cat stories, most of them also published separately, either as early-readers through the I Can Read imprint, or as smaller stand-alone picture-books. Selections include:

Pete the Cat and the Bad Banana , in which our cool cat hero turns his back on his favorite treat for a time, because he ate a banana that went bad. This is also available as a My First I Can Read book.

Go, Pete, Go! , in which the Aesopic fable of The Tortoise and the Hare plays out, as Pete takes the role of the Tortoise, pedaling along on his bike, while his friend Turtle (ironically) takes the role of Hare, zooming along in his race car. This is also available as an individual story book, with stickers.

Sir Pete the Brave , in which knight-errant Sir Pete must rescue his love, Lady Callie, from a (seemingly) marauding dragon, who turns out to simply be lonely. Also available as a My First I Can Read book.

Rock On, Mom and Dad! , in which Pete realizes how much he owed to his loving parents, and searches for a way to properly thank them. Also available as an individual story book.

Pete the Cat's Train Trip , wherein Pete, his mother, and his brother Bob take a train trip to see Grandma, and Pete gets a behind-the-scenes look at the engine room. Also available as a My First I Can Read book.

Scuba-Cat , in which our favorite blue feline goes on an underwater adventure, looking for seahorses. Also available as a My First I Can Read book.

Valentine's Day Is Cool , which follows Pete's conversion from an anti-Valentine's Day Card position, to a decisively pro-Valentine's Day Card approach. Also available as an individual story book, with stickers.

Cavecat Pete , in which a prehistoric Pete enjoys a picnic with dinosaur friends. Also available as an individual story book, with stickers.

Pete the Cat at the Beach , in which Pete's brother Bob helps him to overcome his fear of the water, and our cool cat learns to surf. Also available as a My First I Can Read book.

Pete's Big Lunch , in which Pete's eyes are bigger than his stomach, but his friends are more numerous than his extra food. Also available as a My First I Can Read book.

Robo-Pete , in which Pete builds himself a robotic double to play with, when all of his friends are busy. Also available as an individual story book, with stickers.

And finally, Construction Destruction , in which Pete takes charge of the refurbishment of the school's playground. Also available as an individual story book, with stickers.

With such a wealth of Pete the Cat stories, I would imagine that this collection will prove quite popular with young fans. That said, although the artwork was as bright and colorful as ever, I found myself distinctly underwhelmed by the stories themselves. I understand that they are meant to be quite simple, textually speaking, as so many of them are My First I Can Read books, but the result simply wasn't that interesting to me. I also found it strange that whereas in the main, large-format picture-books, Pete's friends are mostly non-cats, in many of these stories, almost everyone around him is feline. When did that happen? I'm not really the right audience for this one - I only picked it up because I am reading the entire picture-book section at work, and this one was shelved there - so I would still recommend it to determined Pete the Cat fans, as long as their mom and/or dad understand that these selections aren't quite as much fun for the grownup reader.

I bought this Pete the Cat collection out of curiosity and because I love cats. It’s clear the stories are meant for beginning readers. I felt like I’d been caught in the act of something subversive when my husband walked in the door while I was reading 5-Minute Pete the Cat Stories. Having said that . . . they’re simplistic, yes, but I love Pete’s attitude. His boundless cheer had me smiling all the way through the book. Too bad my grandkids are 1200 miles away. I’ll hang onto this book and hope we can read it together (or eldest granddaughter can read it to me) when the pandemic ends.

There is a business near my house called Pizza Cat. My child was always yelling Pizza Cat to me, about everything. Then we were out shopping one day and he just started yelling Pizza Cat , Dad, Pizza Cat. I looked where he was pointing and it was a book called Pete the Cat.

As a young father, I have never heard of Pete the Cat. Him going to daycare was clearly exposed to it. Suddenly all those random proclamations about Pizza Cat came more into focus if I heard Pete the Cat instead. "What do you want to watch?" PIZZA CAT?! Pete the Cat! "What book do you want to read?" PIZZA CAT?! Pete the Cat! etc.

So, we got a Pete the Cat book and it is really pretty good. The stories are easy with plenty of digressions. I especially like that it is a little bit left of center when it comes to childrens literature. Robots and skateboards, creativity, and more. We will be reading more Pizza Cat in the future.

First sentence: Pete the Cat loves bananas.

Premise/plot: This is a collection of twelve previously published Pete the Cat stories. The stories include Pete the Cat and the Bad Banana, Go Pete Go, Sir Pete the Brave, Rock On Mom and Dad, Pete the Cat's Train Trip, Scuba-Cat, Valentine's Day is Cool, Cavecat Pete, Pete the Cat at the Beach, Pete's Big Lunch, Robo-Pete, and Construction Destruction.

The stories vary in quality. In these stories, readers get to spend more time with Pete, meet his parents, and get to know his friends. I like Callie cat!

My thoughts: My least favorite has to be Cavecat Pete. My favorite is either Pete the Cat and the Bad Banana or Pete the Cat's Train Trip. I'd read both of these early readers before. I do like storybook collections. I think they make great presents.

My 2 year old ADORES this book. The first time we read it he sat still still in rapt attention for about 2/3 of the book. I was blown away. He also now constantly wants to eat bananas "like Pete da cat!"

My 8 month old already enjoys being read Pete the cat books (and watching the show). Saw this in target one day and grabbed it. It is perfect for short stories during snack time, and it contains 12 five minute stories (saving a lot of book shelf space since they're all in one book).

All the stories are short and sweet and cute. Definitely glad we have a home copy of this for future readings. My son loves the simple illustrations (and I do too, not everything has to be elaborate). If any more of these come out I'll probably grab them as well.

If you're curious which stories are in this book I'd suggest checking out more reviews as people will list them there and review them individually!

It is hard to express how much I loathe this collection, given to my 3-year-old by one of his great-aunts (I very much appreciate the kind thought, just not the book!) The stories are stupid. The language is infantile. The illustrations are dumb. Seriously, I wrote better stories when I was eight. Why would you read Pete The Cat when you could read your child intelligent books like Beatrix Potter stories?! But... every so often my son asks for Pete the Cat, and I groan and facepalm myself for not remembering to donate the book already. And then I read him a Pete the Cat. And then I read him a GOOD children’s story to erase all the effects of Pete the Cat’s stupidity.

This book is graphic novel of all the adventures of Pete the Cat. There are several stories that are in this book. The pictures along with the story help progress the story and keeps you interested.

I thought this book was okay, because there are so many stories which is good, but sometimes the stories were not connecting. This wouldn't in particular be a good book to have in the classroom because it isn't a true graphic novel.

Like I said early this book would be great for kids who have a very low reading level, but the book itself would not fit very good in a classroom.

Like all anthologies, the twelve stories vary in appeal. All are themed about things a young child needs to know.
I liked the banana story the best, maybe because I like bananas too. The seahorese tale was cute. The dinosaur one was really dated. The others were fun and quick to read.
Any Pete the Cat fan, like me, will enjoy this book. This is true whether or not you have a young child to help read it.

This is a collection of 12 Pete the Cat stories. Some (in my opinion) are better than others; but still all are good. Some are just for fun; and others have a lesson to learn. With Pete learning a lesson through the story helping the reader-listener learning the lesson along with Pete. You can't go wrong with this collection book.

Read a couple of these to my kinders for storytime. They love Pete the Cat! Nice and short. some have lessons. Some are better than others, but my kids will tell you that there isn't a bad Pete the cat story.

Once I read this book I really liked it because it was a lot like my life I used to not like bananas but now I do and that was the first story. The one where he builds a robot is a great story and so is the one when he builds a park.

Pete the Cat is never going to be amongst my favorite children’s book characters but he gets the job done. The 2 almost 3 year old I nanny had me read this all the way through in one sitting. He loves it and it keeps him occupied.
My favorite features a sea horse, his features a train ride.

My kiddos absolutely love this book. The stories are short enough to keep her attention. This is a great book for bedtime story reading.
