The Era of the French Revolution, 1789-1799: Ten Years That Shook the World

Rate this book
The years from 1789 to 1799 are examined here in two parts. The author has included selections from non-official contemporary sources such as newspapers, letters, diaries, and treatises -- many of which have not been previously translated -- with the hope that they will give the reader a sense of the immediacy of revolutionary change. This book presents a modern interpretation of the happenings inside France and also traces the impact of the French Revolution on other nations.

This book was pretty densely written for my poor addled brain. The facts were all there, but I thought Gershoy could have prompted more interest and more humanity in such a chaotic and interesting time in European history.
