Elise Bravo needed a job, desperately. And soldier turned thriller writer Jed Walsh burned through—almost literally, it turned out—assistants like hellfire through brimstone. Enter Elise, crack typist, master plotter and perfect for the live-in job in every way but one…two if you counted Mr. Wiggles, her furry companion. For though Jed had sworn he would never get "involved" with a woman who worked for him, it took only a day or two with the perfectly professional, pencil skirt–wearing Bravo beauty to realize that his interest in Elise broke all the rules. He had to make her his—even if he had to win over her kitty to do it…

Ms. Bravo and the Boss by Christine Rimmer is a 2016 Harlequin Special Edition publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Christine Rimmer pulled out all the stops with this edition of the ‘Bravos of Justice Creek’.

Jeb Walsh is a popular author of thriller novels, but when his long-time secretary leaves, he finds himself in a serious bind. Missing deadlines, and firing one typist after another, Jeb is earning a very nasty reputation.

Elise has experienced a serious spate of bad luck, and is now working two jobs just to make ends meet. When Elise finds out Jeb is looking for someone to type his dictation, she knows she would be perfect for the job. However, Jeb’s reputation precedes him, making her think twice about applying for the position. But, when she finds out how much he is paying, it’s an offer she can’t refuse.

So, with her beloved cat, Mr. Wiggles, in tow, she moves in to Jeb’s home.

Elise is so good at her job, it’s not long before she and Jeb actually forge a bond and the chemistry between them began to sparkle and shine in a most amusing and delightful way. But, once Jeb’s deadline is met, Elise plans to go back into business for herself. Can Jeb continue to create without his obsessive and eccentric routines or without Elise?

This story was so fun! Jeb is a terrifically flawed character, who is a little self -absorbed, is slightly alpha male oriented, and has some pretty peculiar habits. But, wow, can he be romantic and so sweet and charming!! It’s no wonder he swept Elise off her feet!

But, of course, those aforementioned flaws come back to bite him, and Elise knows she has to make a stand, even if it breaks her heart to pieces.

Naturally, the delightful Mr. Wiggles was a wonderful little scene stealer and a charming part of the story, as he helps Jeb and Elise find true love.

I always enjoy Christine Rimmer’s romance novels, but this one was especially sharp, with great dialogue and perfect pacing. This is such a super romantic story, I felt light as feather once I finished it.

Netgalley and Harlequin for an honest review.

I found this to be a cute but average reading.

A heroine that is broke and needs cash and a job. A hero who's a writer and is as demanding as heck with his assistants.

Enter Elise who is desperate enough to go work for him under the duress of her sister. Jed is in a funk and needs an assistant like yesterday and decides that Elise will have to do.

The two are cute together and have some funny dialogue. They learn to open up to each other and slowly fall in love.

It had a steady pace but did drag in parts. The characters were likeable. And an okay story line.

Cute story.

Very good book. Elise has had some really bad luck lately, compounded by some bad decisions. Most recently, her catering business burned to the ground and her business partner decided to move on. There was insurance money, but half went to her partner, and Elise used hers to pay off her debts. Her finances are especially tight because she had made the decision to loan money to two "friends" who then declined to pay her back. So in order to make the money to restart her catering business she has been doing odd jobs for several of her sisters. Then one of her sisters tells her that thriller writer Jed Walsh is looking for a new assistant and is paying top dollar.

Jed is a very interesting man. Raised by a survivalist, he then did some time in the military before turning to writing. He dictates his writing to a typist and has very exacting demands. He also has some very interesting quirks, such as knife-throwing and gun cleaning when he's working through a rough patch. He'd had the perfect assistant, but she left to be near her grandchildren almost a year before. Since then he has acquired a reputation for being impossible to work for. When Elise shows up at his door, he's pretty much reached the end of his rope.

I loved his "interview" with her, and how he was pretty blunt about his requirements. It was really amusing to see her deal with each of his demands, then make a few of her own, including that she would only work for him for the length of this book. Jed was also very up front with her that he was attracted to her, but that he had no intention of doing anything about it. He doesn't want to screw up a potentially good thing. I loved her first day at work and how she had no trouble keeping up with him and dealing with his attitude. By the end of her three day trial period, Jed had decided that not only was she perfectly suited to his needs, he wasn't going to let her go,

It didn't take long for their professional relationship to turn to friendship. For all his gruff and grumpy exterior, Jed is actually a pretty sensitive guy. When Elise had a meltdown over the problems she'd been having, Jed did an awesome job of comforting her. That comfort also underscored the heat that had been building between them. It doesn't take much longer before their "professional only" vow goes up in smoke. I loved seeing how suited to each other they were. Jed shows Elise that she is beautiful just as she is. And I loved seeing her challenge Jed's rigid ways and even help him with his writing. It was also really sweet to see how the guy who says he hates cats had a "catio" built for Mr. Wiggles.

However, there were problems ahead. In spite of Elise's statement that she would only work for him for the length of this book, Jed is determined that she will stay with him. He completely ignores every indication that she is perfectly serious about it. Then he has the nerve to be mad when she goes ahead with plans to restart her catering business. I loved seeing Elise take her reinvigorated self-confidence and explain to him exactly what his problem is. Now it is up to Jed to decide how to go about getting Elise back in his life. I loved his wedding crasher scene and his oh-so-sweet and vulnerable moment with Elise as he tried to tell her how he felt. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in later books.

The book "Ms Bravo and the Boss " written by Christine Rimmer was a delightful read. Elise Bravo has made a series of bad decisions which have made her pocketbook strings tight. She has been trying to make ends meet by series of odd jobs in her sisters businesses. Until one of her sister's refers her to Jed Walsh who is in desperate need of a typist. He has a book deadline and he keeps scaring all the other typists away.

What I like about Elise is that she is not intimidated by Jed. She takes whatever he throws at in stride including knives. Elise is going through a transitional period in her life. She is trying to get her confidence back. In the past, she was slimmer as well being taken advantage by two former boyfriends concerning money. I love watching her grow into herself as she tells one of her exes that he need to set up a payment plan to pay her back.

What I like about Jed is that he teaches Elise to embrace her new curves and find confidence in herself. He stood by keeping watch as Elise gave Biff his cuppence. Jed despite his gruff exterior was really a softie. His claims that he hated cats were disputed by his insistence that the cat should have a catio, where the cat could be outside. Jed also seems to know the right words to make everything better .

Jed and Elise run into trouble when Elise, who has always said from the beginning, she wanted her catering business back, starts making plans for that to become a reality. Jed, seriously thought he could persuade her to stay as his typist but it didn't work out so well for him because Elise has her own dreams. He has to learn to compromise if he wants Elise back.

This book was a real page turner. I just couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend, Christine Rimmer's, "Ms Bravo and the Boss." Jed and Elise's story will quickly draw you in and you won't regret reading it.

Elise Bravo goes to work for intimidating author Jed Walsh as his typist. He has a specific process that involves throwing knives while dictating and other weird alpha male behaviour. Elise needs the big pay cheque on offer after a series of bad financial decisions and the burning down of her catering business. She's a great typist, but it's not what she wants to do with her life, and insists it will only be for this one book. The two soon fall into a relationship. Jed begins to fret what will happen when the book comes to an end, because he can't work without her.

At first, I really disliked Jed! With his bully behaviour of previous assistants, the casual talk of intimidating them by throwing knives (!!!) and his inner thoughts about wanting to have sex with his assistant, I was reminded too much of the behaviour by those such as Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer and Don Burke (an Australian example), who are finally being made to own up to their reprehensible actions. Not what I want out of a romantic hero! But that starts to fade once the actual relationship starts, and Jed's subsequent actions do show him to be a decent sort, if obstinate. I also had trouble with the idea of someone being able to demand $4000 a week to be a typist! I wish I could earn that much!

However, this was thankfully free of any too-afraid-to-love protagonists (my big gripe with modern romances), and the obstacle between H and h (Jed not wanting Elise to give up typing and pursue her catering dreams because it will ruin his writing process) was a bit different to the norm, and believable.

Ms. Bravo and the Boss
Christine Rimmer

Rimmer’s latest Bravo family novel is a real page-turner told via a smart and sexy dialogue with a healthy dose of humor, staring a fantastic, unforgettable couple whose chemistry is off the charts, a kitty co-star that will steal hearts and the show and the entire supporting cast of wagon circling Bravo siblings. But it’s definitely the conversations between her hero and Mr. Wiggles the cat and the very satisfying HEA ending she gives her freakishly reclusive hero and unsinkable, down but not out heroine that makes this a keeper!

Down on her luck and in debt up to her eyeballs because of some bad luck and worse decisions has left Elise Bravo with only one option; work like a dog until she’s back on her feet. If that means working for a sexy but sadistic NYT bestseller, so be it!
Reclusive thriller author Jed Walsh in running out of patience and running out of time to get his next book finished. He needs a new assistant pronto. One that will follow orders without question and won’t run screaming because of his idiosyncratic ways. Good thing the real deal just walked in his door, now if he can keep his hands off her he might make his deadline.

BEAUTY AND THE…MAN WHO'LL NEVER LET HER GO
Elise Bravo needed a job, desperately. And soldier turned thriller writer Jed Walsh burned through—almost literally, it turned out—assistants like hellfire through brimstone. Turned out he had some…unusual work habits to go along with his giant talent and ego. He threw knives to relax. He cleaned his guns as he acted out scenes. And more than anything, he hated cats…

He had to make her his—even if he had to win over her kitty to do it…

Jed thinks he needs no one. As a survivalist he can do it all on his own, but even Adam needed Eve. Elise thinks her job is just a means to achieve her goals. Both are wrong, the truth is they need each other to reach true happiness. Excellent story with interesting characters wth a strong well thought out plot. Plan time enough to read in one sitting as you won't want to stop once you begin reading.

My rating of "Ms. Bravo and the Boss" is 5 out of 5 stars.

LOL

Elise Bravo went through her inheritance pretty fast and is in great need of money to get her catering shop back up and running after it has burned down. And Jed Walsh is a thriller writer in great need of an extremely fast typist who can keep up while he dictates to her. The author does a wonderful job of bringing this couple together even when they both fight their attraction to each other. Of course she had the help of Wigs, Elise's cat, who is a delightful addition to the story. This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it!

I really loved this story. It is a bit different than the past books in this series. I love how she incorporated how a writer writes from his perspective and how he develops his characters. I love his use of words. He is very eloquent and Elise is a great. She is able to see past the gruff exterior that Jed has been known for. She sees him as a man first and a writer second. This is probably my favorite book in this Bravo family series

An adorable story, with characters that brought light and spice to the basic romance storyline, and a cat that stole my heart.
I liked both Elise and Jed, they had their quirky and demanding personalities, either of them an easy person to be around. Yet they had endearing traits in their personalities, that won me over.
Jed was such a caveman at times, I was shaking my head thinking you didn't just say/do that. There were couple times that his forceful behavior actually bothered me for a minute until he redeemed himself with further actions. But Jed has a heart of gold, such a good intensions. He is generous, kind, and sexy as one can be under all the gruff.
Elise, I gather she used to be a 'mean girl' in her teenage years. That was not the name she was called in the book, but I made a conclusion. She is very determined and strong person, that for a great match to Jed. And I loved them together, the chemistry was amazing, they work together so effortlessly, and were able to open up and trust the other. I felt the story lead heavily with the main characters, so their development, growth, finding their way with life and in the relationship was excellent and evident.
There's galore of secondary characters in the story, but when there are over 40 books in the series, that is to be expected. The book can be easily read as a stand-alone, even though there are several references to the previous couples in the series.
And Wigs, the cat, yes, he stole my heart completely, moreover him and Jed together.
The captivating and compelling cast of characters, that are easy to relate to and enjoy their company, give this classic romance story plot spice and fire.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Ms. Bravo and the Boss” by bestselling author, Christine Rimmer. As we revisit Ms. Rimmer’s Bravos of Justice Creek, we get to know the story of Elise Bravo. After a fire destroyed her catering business – and after years of not-so-wise decisions and growing pains – Elise is in desperate need of a job.
Enter Jed Walsh, a writer of thrillers with a habit of getting over-involved in the characters and scenes in his books during the writing process. So involved, in fact, that he is constantly looking for new assistants. With her sister’s “encouragement,” Elise becomes Jed’s new assistant. Elise is the perfect assistant for Jed. She doesn’t even flinch when he throws knives into the wall while he is dictating his book. She types fast and accurately and doesn’t ask him to repeat himself. Elise has agreed to stay until the book is done. Although he doesn’t tell her, Jed wants her to stay forever….as his assistant, or more?
Elise loves her new job. Well, to be honest, she loves the money she is earning. Her goal is to reopen her catering business. Because they get along so well and his writing is going very smoothly, more smoothly than ever before, Jed thinks he can talk her into staying beyond her deadline as his assistant. That may have been possible except for one thing……Elise hates typing, even though she is extremely good at it. Will her growing attraction to Jed cause her to change her mind?
As I said at the beginning of this review, I thoroughly enjoyed “Ms. Bravo and the Boss.” I believe you will, too. Elise and Jed’s story is a must read from Ms. Rimmer. [I almost forgot. Even though I am not a cat person, even I liked Mr. Wiggles.]

I just love Christine Rimmer's Bravo romances and Ms. Bravo and the Boss does not disappoint!!! I could not put this book down!!! Jeb Walsh is a gorgeous, Alpha male, and former soldier turned author. Elise Bravo is a former high school mean girl that has learned her lesson through bad investments and even worse boyfriends.
Jeb, a rugged, grumpy writer, is looking for the perfect typist to help him finish his book and Elise, an out of work caterer, is in desperate need of a good paycheck. I just love Jeb and fell in love with him myself while reading Ms. Bravo and the Boss. You will adore Jeb too. He is the manly, honorable hunk we all wish we could meet. Elise is a warm, complex heroine we can all relate too.
This book is just wonderful! I loved this sweet, heart warming romance with a hot, tasty, muscular hunk that is also generous and tender. This book has it all--a complex well written story line, well developed characters, and a romance that is both steamy and tender!
I can't recommend Ms. Bravo and the Boss by Christine Rimmer enough. You will just love it! I cannot wait until the next romance Bravo romance!

Loved it!! But I have to say it wasn't what I expected. I though after reading the synopsis of the book the hero was going to be a very grumpy arrogant man. He is not!!! Elise Bravo needs a job because of some bad financial situations and Jed Walsh is a reclusive writer who needs a typist for his book. Elise takes the job and they become friends and lovers. James at first seems grumpy and hard but it doesn't take him long to at all to show his soft side. Especially with Wigs! The relationship between Elise and Jed is so easy it just happens naturally and I loved how Jed just accepted it and wanted to be a part of Elise's life. I loved how he was very adamant about going to the wedding with her. Of course there was the crisis but it was Jed's insecurities that was the issue. I loved how even though Elise loved Jed she stuck with her convictions. Great story and of course another great book by this author.

Ms. Bravo and the Boss is the fifth book in Christine Rimmer’s The Bravos of Justice Creek series. After reading one of Ms. Rimmer’s books I always think she can’t get any better and I’m always proven wrong. This was a fabulous book that I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed watching Elise Bravo’s character stick with her plan and not let Jed sway her one way or another. She was strong and wasn’t intimidated or scared with Jed’s unusual sport.

Jed Walsh was a character to love. He had a roughness about him that drew me in. I’ve read a lot of books and have never had a character that was a knife thrower - extremely interesting sport to say the least.

I highly recommend Ms. Bravo and the Boss along with all of the books in the series. I’d like to disclose that I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Ms. Bravo and the Boss (The Bravos of Justice Creek)" by Christine Rimmer was such a good story that once I picked it up I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed Elise Bravo and Jed Walsh's story. Jed was raised in Justice Creek and is back after being a soldier. Jed is now a writer of books on suspense. JC. Bravo Construction built his home, and Elise finds out that he needs a personal assistant from her sister who helped to build his house. Since Elise is trying to rebuild her catering service since hers burned in an accidental fire, and she is trying to earn back money that was taken from her by some not so nice ex-boyfriends she shows up at Jed's house to apply as his typist. There is so much that happens between these two, first a friendship, and then something more. I loved this story from start to finish.

Loved this book! I like stories that have 'true to life' experiences and this one did it for me.

Jed is egotistical, difficult to work for, and driven. Elise is down on her luck, broke, and marking time until her ship comes in. Elise gets steered towards Jed for a job, and the rest as they say, is history.

No game playing, no huge misunderstanding that breaks them apart, just life happening. I enjoyed this whole story...although I don't have any superlatives to describe my enjoyment, other than LOVED it.

Jed, it turns out, is a softy for Elise, and Elise has enough backbone to stand up for herself when she needs to and isn't walked over. They're perfect for each other.

When I look for a new book to read, what I hope for is to be entertained. Something that draws me so deeply into the story that I can't stop thinking about it and certainly don't want to ever stop reading. With this book, I found exactly that. Ms Rimmer wrote about a couple and a story that kept pulling at my heartstrings until every part of me was right there needing to know what happened next and desperate to see how it would end. I loved Jed and his quirkiness and Elise was a hoot! Pick it up! You won't regret it!

It's always great to revisit friends and family with Christine Rimmer's Bravo series. Elise goes to work for Jed Walsh, a nightmare of a boss but he pays good and she needs an infusion of cash for her business. As she types up his next bestselling manuscript, they start to have feeling for each other but both have other priorities. Lots of tension and misunderstanding but lots of loving and an especially cute cat named Mr. Wiggles help this book to a wonderful conclusion.

I thought this book was a real joy to read. The hero Jed was a very complex man with a lot of personality quirks that I found both interesting and also amusing. Elise was a heroine in a true sense in trying to survive all the world threw at her and still keeping a cheerful face. She brought light to Jed's world and Wigs the cat stole my heart. I found myself rooting for them as a couple and also individually too. I would definitely recommend this book as a great read.

I have read all different kinds of books, this one has me kind of wondering what the next plot is going to be, What is Jed going to do next to get his Elise the love of his life, his typist, a woman who was taken advantage of. What will she do when he asks her to stay. Events go so different from what I would have thought. Elise is a women that doesn't really know what she wants, Jed is a man who was raised by a man in the woods. Will he get his woman, will she get her man.

An enjoyable read. She needs a job, he needs a secretary, but there's an instant spark. Before you know it they're tumbling into bed.

There were 2 things about this novel that I didn't see coming:
1. that he would push for the relationship
2. him with the cat

Point one, is a little self-explanatory, but point two really made me smile. Catio and all. This is mostly why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2. It was an easy read and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for the same.

Big fan of the Christine Rimmer's Bravo series! Ms. Bravo and the Boss does not disappoint. Elise is desperate for a money and needs a job to get her catering business back in business. Jed is in desperate need of someone to type his next best-seller. A match made in heaven. She is awesome and he is handsome! Love the fact that she could type his words and still had her own thoughts. A great romance of "should we, will we?" Knife throwing?? Amazing twist there!
