Eat This Not That 2012 Edition
This is the book that will help you make clever food swaps every day of your life. Smart swaps equal fewer calories. Fewer calories equal fewer pounds and a longer, healthier, happier life. On the 'calories out' side are daily cleaning the house, cycling to work, hauling in the shopping, going to the gym. When people discover extra flab hanging around their midsections, they often assume there's something wrong with this side of the equation. Maybe so, but more likely it's the front-end of the equation - the 'calories in' side - that's tipping the scale. That side keeps track of all the biscuits, fried chicken and piles of pasta that you eat every day.
It takes 3,500 calories to create a pound of body fat. So if you eat an extra 500 per day - just two large lattes from Costa - you'll earn one new pound of body fat each week. Make that a habit - as so many of us do - and you'll gain 3 stone and 10 pounds a year.
If you want to shed belly fat, there's only one formula you need to know and it's easier than anything you encountered in algebra at school. The magic formula is
(Calories in) - (calories out) = (total weight loss or gain)

Pretty sure I read a version of this back in 2009, so obviously not the 2012 edition, but I can't find that version here. At the time, I would've rated it 5 stars, but would find some of it outdated now.

I didn’t realize at first this was a UK version. Brands and restaurants are mostly not the same as what’s in the USA, so this is much less useful for us. Overall though, I liked the concept. I read on Libby from my local library.
