Richard Channing Garfield, Jr. is a mathematics professor and game designer who created the card games Magic: The Gathering, Netrunner, BattleTech, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle (originally known as Jyhad), The Great Dalmuti, Star Wars Trading Card Game, and the board game RoboRally. He also created a variation of the game Hearts called Complex hearts.

The development of Magic: The Gathering is credited with popularizing the collectible card game genre.

I remember reading the lore story in this one, such a fun time and all the anecdotes about early MTG are so endearing and entertaining

An overall guide to the game of Magic the Gathering. One of the first guides on the market, and written by the game's designer. Basic strategy.
