Such a great cookbook. Simple, clear, and perfect for beginning cooks. Yes, in some ways this is a period piece. There is a Primer for Brides which starts with how to make a cup of coffee. Well, the primer for brides is also great for grooms--and college students--and anyone finding their feet in a kitchen. This book includes the original Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe and many many other simple and excellent recipes and pieces of advice. The recipes use just a few ingredients, easy techniques, and don't need fancy equipment. Try the Johnny Cake (corn bread).
