There’s a new game at LA’s most exclusive BDSM club, and everyone has to play.
Cleo knew the overseers of Las Palmas, L.A.’s most exclusive BDSM club, would use their new checklist game to pair her with one of the more serious Doms. She never dreamed she’d end up with the Dom who has the power to destroy her soul—her first Master, and ex-husband, Hadrian.
Hadrian hasn’t been to the club in years. After the fiery dissolution of his marriage, he threw himself into work, doing his best to forget his beloved submissive, who also happens to be his ex-wife.
When Cleo and Hadrian are forced together once again, they’ll have to decide if they’ll play the game and explore the letter D…or if it would be easier to walk away from BDSM altogether.
Lila (writing as L. DuBois and Lila Dubois) is a top selling author of paranormal, fantasy and contemporary erotic romance. Having spent extensive time in France, Egypt, Turkey, England and Ireland Lila speaks five languages, none of them (including English) fluently. She now lives in Los Angeles with a cute Irishman and a half-Irish mini human.
The letter D is different yet again, making a divorced couple play the game....together. And again,Lila manages to set the right tone, showing the feelings of both for what they are, namely painful.
Cleo and Hadrian have been divorced for 4 years now,and whilst she continued coming to the club,Hadrian stayed away. The game has changed that, and if he wants to remain a member,he’ll have to play. But when he enters the room where his sub for the game is waiting,he’s in for a very unpleasant surprise. Sitting there,in the perfect position,is his ex-wife,Saffron,or Cleo,as he nicknamed her. Cursing the overseers to hell and back isn’t helping, and he decides to give into his still lingering desire for her.
Cleo has been content playing the way she has the past 4 years, but is she happy? Not really.... She misses a real Master, one that can bring out her needs like.....well,to be honest, her ex-husband,Hadrian. But finding out who she’s partnered with for the letter D? OUCH! Their divorce was painful enough, thank you very much!
Can these two find they still have enough in common to play without hurting eachother? And is it possible they can even admit what they feel?
This letter was another delicious story, one with a very satisfying end. And i look forward to the letter E.....
Second chance stories are tricky for me. I often get upset with the time wasted by the couple rather than celebrate that they got back together. It all balances on why they split, and what they have been doing since the split
This one had me worried because of the added complication of unknown and D/s relationship. I shouldn't have had any trepidation, as this was handled beautifully. The exploration of the now with a glimpses of the then, and a little discuss of the then, made for an emotional, yet, beautiful story
The aspects of business, marriage, couple-dom and the BDSM relationship were separated and then put back together as Hadrian and Cleo worked through everything. Have some tissues close, there was way more of an emotional punch than I expected. There was also some extremely hot and sexy times, like, a lot
Dang, it only took a couple of hours to finish this book. The Overseers really did it this time by putting a divorced couple together for their game. I really like this series and the ending of this one was great. The only problem I see with this series is that the stories are wrapped up in a couple of pages (but then, I am a story junkie and not so much a sex scene junkie and I want a little more story than a quickie). I hope we get to see more of the Overseers and the people they put together for their Checklist game. I am impatiently waiting for the rest of the alphabet.
DuBois brought us another delightfully delicious story. Master Hadrian and his assigned sub Cleo have the letter D. I love that these two have a past and that we get to see exactly what that past is. Hadrian hasn't been the Master he should be and Cleo has been a very lazy sub looking not to serve but to receive her pleasure. Boy, I really felt for her when came time for punishment, my own ass was sore with sympathy pains!! I can't wait to see what E brings us!!
This kind of second chance romance, used to be together, but it went wrong, doesn't come close to being a must read. I tend to avoid them. But L. Dubois wrote BDSM Checklist, and D is for . . . Diabolical, to borrow a word from Gabriella. The scenes were smoking even if I wasn't a fan of the relationship. Still worth the read.
3.5 stars I feel like the actual reason for divorce that we were leading up to didn’t match up to the explosion they kept referring to. Overall very nicely done with dealing with a divorced sub/Dom dynamic
I love these overseers. They are playing Puppet/Master with these people. D is for Divorced couple. Again, I'm loving exploring all these nuances of the BDSM world. Who knew there where this many kinks?
Cleo and Hadrian's second chance explored the past, present and future.
I have been waiting for D for a while. It did not disappoint. The letter D does not have many items to it but Lila made it hot. Cleo is paired with her ex husband for the new game at Las Palmas. If they both want to retain their membership they must play the game. Her ex hasn't been to the clubs since their divorce. She didn't even know he was still a member there. She got the shock of her life when he walked into the room she was kneeling in and spoke.
Hadrian had not been to Las Palmas in years. He is summoned there by the game or lose his membership. So he goes and gets a big surprise when he opens the door to his assigned playroom and finds his ex wife kneeling on the floor before him. He realizes that he still loves her and tries to hide that from both her and himself.
As they play the game, Cleo must apologize to all the Doms she has "used" and not properly submitted to. There were 6 in the room at the time. She was in for a wide awakening. After 48 hours she must make a choice, continue to come to the club and be Hadrian's sub or to walk away. But Hadrian may have a say in that!
It feels like I've waited forever for this book to come out. It was worth the wait. She didn't disappoint. The story was HOT. I actually think it was better than C is for... I think the main characters were very relatable in regards to their issue. I can't wait to see what she comes up with for the letter E. I do wish she could put out 2 books in the checklists series every year. I hate waiting.
Divorce doesn't mean forgotten. Sometimes a second chance with lots of sex is all that's needed to move on from the past.
This series not only captures the essence of BDSM, but also the essence of what it is to be true to yourself and understand your own personal kinks. If you haven't read the rest of this wonderful series you really, really need too.
D is for delicious! Hadrian and Cleo/Saffrons story is loaded with emotion that you felt what they were feeling throughout the entire story. I love that with this series the overseers place the players of the game with a purpose, very thought through and the reader can feel that along with characters.
Awesome!! Awesome!! Awesome!! I have loved every one of these stories and this one was no exception! Can't wait for the next one. I just wish they were longer stories. I just love Lila's writing and story telling.
What can I say, except that Lila Dubois is an absolute master at somehow combining BDSM and romance. Her books are a way to take a walk on the dark side without straying too far the elements of a good romance.
As I progress through the letters in this BDSM series, "D is for…" has emerged as my favorite so far. The story resonated on a deeper emotional level, focusing on a divorced couple with a complex history. The male main character has avoided the Las Palmas BDSM club to steer clear of his ex-wife, whom he still loves. Since their divorce, though she has subbed for other Doms, it has become apparent that she is not truly submitting but rather topping from the bottom. This changes during her weekend with her ex-husband and Master, where she finally embraces the submissive role she desires, as she can only fully surrender to him. While many readers may be drawn to the book's exploration of kink, and sex, for me, it was primarily about the emotions and the rekindling of their love for each other.
Best one so far Although I was about to throw my phone when Cleo said she’d accept his bogus offer of only being master/sub with no relationship outside las palms I mean they had an awful divorce then they spend less then a weekend together and less then a paragraph talking about why their marriage failed and they are ready to commit again?!? Why am I giving this a 4?!? Welp I guess I was happy he finally apologized and I’m a sucker for a happy ending, even thought I think there could have been a little more depth I enjoy how the author reserves a few chapters as a Segway to introduce the characters for the next book

This was not my favorite in this series by a long shot. I felt like it was focused too much on the past rather than the game. I also wasn’t sure how I felt about Cleo agreeing to play the game with her ex without really talking about anything I just like submitting to him after all that time And I know these are short books. I generally understand that however, it just felt super rushed. I felt like we got very little sex and even when he was like punishing her and having Cleo go around and offer the other masters like punishment we just got like brisk paragraphs and then it was over. Very disappointed with this one has the two stars.
D is for Disappointed. This tale was not as good as others in the series. The protagonists were not very credible and the tale whilst starting off fairly well ended in a real rush and it felt like the author got a bit bored, some of the checklist items were brushed over in less than a paragraph and the way the relationship is set up felt unlikely to me. There are some good bits though, some hot sex and inventive scenes but not up to the usual standards. This is another short read with lots of advertising/excerpts at the end.
I really enjoyed the first three letters of the game and the blurb of this story was really promising. Sadly it turned out to be much different than what I expected. This is clearly a story when a man and his ex-wife find a way back together thanks to an intense BDSM weekend, but there were so many unspoken issues to be addressed, so many conflicting feelings to face, that the story was just too short and felt incomplete. Let's see what E will bring....
D is for... Well, this one, I really think must have had more words. The story between Cleo and Hadrien is very heavy because of their past. And the flashbacks was not helping very much to understand this past. For example, I don't understand why put the moment when they signed their adhesion to the club, because nothing really important happened. And I would've liked more slow motion about the reunification.
This installment of the checklist was perfect. It hits another profound realization of BDSM which is the act of submission. Even though it was extremely risky for these two to be paired for the game, the act of submission brought them to a place they never thought they would reach again. The act of submission brought them back to love. Powerful.
This one didn't really hit it for me. Felt the chemistry that was there but it felt like it needed to be more than it was. To know that they still have to interact in the "real world" it whatever context would play a big part I would think. Also knowing a little more about what went on with the divorce would haveadded to it as well. Was still fun with the few items listed.
Second chances never looked so good or spicy this was a story of a wonderful couple being given a second chance with a little help from friends to realize what has always been hidden deep in their hearts even years after they broke
