A warm story about calming a child's fears. Big Bear and Little Bear go for a walk in the snowy woods. On the way home, Little Bear keeps hearing noises and seems frightened. Big Bear calmly explains what each sound is. The plodding is Big Bear's feet in the snow. The dripping is the ice melting into the stream. And so on. Soon Little Bear is tired and sits down in the snow. Big Bear carries him home and wraps him in a blanket to keep him warm. There is so much love in this story, and I think it's nice that Big Bear is just referred to at "Big Bear" and not "Father Bear" or "Uncle Bear." Children who don't have fathers, but do have an important adult male in their lives can identify with this story, too.

I think Little Bear is sooo cute! And I like that this series of books is about a little bear and his father. Great, simple books.

This children's story was incredibly boring and simplistic, and had no real purpose, moral or even plot. I would not read this story to my child.

Title: Let’s Go Home Little Bear
Author: Martin Waddell
Illustrator: Barbara Firth
Target Age: 2 to 4 years
Themes: Animals, Snow, Winter, Scared, Comfort

Let’s Go Home Little Bear is the sequel to the classic family favourite Can’t You Sleep Little Bear, in which we follow Big Bear and Little Bear through the snowy winter woods. Little Bear hears lots of strange and scary noises in the woods, however, Big Bear is able to comfort his worries. There is lots of repetition so children can have lots of fun joining in, creating their own sounds that they might hear in the woods and the types of creatures that could be making them. I remember this being one of my favourite stories to be read to as a child. A perfect cosy bedtime read for the winter months after having an outside adventure in the crunchy snow.

This is a delightful tale of of Big Bear and Little Bear’s walk in the snowy woods. Little Bear’s imagination is filled with unseen creatures - the drippers and plodders - he conjures up from the sounds he hears. He tells Big bear who lovingly explains the sounds and reassures him that he is safe with him.
The simple plot and dialogue helps to tackle the universal theme of a child’s anxiety and feelings of safety. The beautiful watercolor illustrations enhance the story by allowing the reader to enter Little Bear’s world which though looks different then ours is very familiar. I gave this book five stars because I think that it is a wonderful book to open up dialogue with young children about fears and anxiety. “Let’s Go Home, Little Bear” is a Parents Choice Award winner.

Little Bear and Big Bear - I don’t think we ever find out if big bear is his mother or father or perhaps neither. The little bear hears things in the woods, and it plays into times when your imagination can play tricks on you. Though at times I wondered if there was a danger and it was a human coming around the corner. Instead it seems like the snow is thawing (could start a conversation about weather and changes in seasons and whether the bears should be hibernating or are about to hibernate).

Let's Go Home, Little Bear is a beautifully illustrated children's book that is about a big bear and a little bear out in the woods and walking home in the winter. The children in my preschool classes as for this story often and will pick the book during free reading time and many of them 'pretend read' it telling the story to other children from memory. This is a great pre-reading skill to see in preschool four-year-old children.

Little Bear and Big Bear go walking in the woods on a snowy day. Little Bear keeps hearing sounds. This is a nice story to inspire children to pay attention to the sounds around them to help learn to identify what they hear. Such nice illustrations.

Sweet, humorous, and lulling text accompanies sensitive pencil and watercolor illustrations in this simple story of a big bear and a little bear taking a walk through the snowy woods. The cozy ending as they return to their comfy bear cave is a perfect tucking-in close.

During a nice long walk in the snowy woods Big Bear, and Little Bear enjoy the solitude. When it's time to head back to their cave Little Bear hears strange sounds, and becomes concerned there are monsters lurking about. Big Bear reassures him that it's just the sounds of winter.

Very cute and heartwarming. I really like these bear books so far. Just found out that there are five! This one also has a bit of recursive narrative in it; it will be interesting to see if Waddell uses that in the other books too.

Little Bear hears all sorts of sounds as he and Big Bear make their way home....plodders, drippers, ploppers and the sounds of the snow in the woods! Another warm and comforting story to share with young children, delightfully illustrated.

This is the delightful story of a father bear and his baby bear taking a walk through the woods on a snowy, winter day. Along the way, little bear hears many sounds that are associated with the sounds of snow. A sweet and reassuring story featuring a father and son.

Yawnsome yarn which wanders aimlessly before petering out with a fizzle. The cuddly-wuddly artwork is annoying. My daughter likes it, but her opinion is cheapened by her uncritical affinity for all things ursine.
