Waking a prince with a kiss seems like something out of a fairy tale. Too bad this isn’t a fairy tale and a kiss isn’t all this sleeping dragon prince needs. Jaded archaeologist, Karla, finds more than artifacts when she ventures into a cavern hidden in the middle of the Australian outback. The half naked man sleeping inside is about to change everything she ever knew. Her touch does more than awaken him from his slumber. It rouses something in her. An instant attraction that's stronger than anything she's ever felt before. Dragon Prince Taurian's whole world is turned upside down when he's woken by a human woman. He’s overslept by three hundred years and the world as he knew it no longer exists. Nothing is familiar, and everyone he's ever known is gone. Except his ancient enemy, who has also managed to survive. Taurian can’t defeat him on his own. He’ll need the help of the human woman who saved him. Can her love give him the strength to defeat his foe?
Rinelle Grey is no stranger to alternate lifestyles. She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)
She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!
They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.
Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.
Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

Blurb: When his centuries long slumber ends abruptly, dragon prince, Taurian finds himself in a whole new world. Now, pursued by an ancient enemy, his survival depends on the human woman whose presence woke him. The woman who is starting to make him rethink his entire view of humans.
Karla is irresistibly drawn to the half-naked man she discovered in an ancient chamber, but when he claims to be a dragon, she’s sure he’s crazy. Until another dragon attacks them, and Karla is pulled into his fight, whether she likes it or not.
Prince Taurian is a compilation of the Dragon Ruins Serial. It contains the following parts: Waking the Dragon Dressing the Dragon Bedding the Dragon Healing the Dragon Denying the Dragon Mating the Dragon
I loved it! From the beginning to the end you see how they accidentally meet up, go through trying times, learn to understand each other as people, and fall in love. But does that mean they are good for each other and his dragon clan? This is a great story with believable characters. Great writing Rinelle. I need to hear more about them and the life dragon.
I started the first episode only to immediately buy the whole book. Karla and her prince's adventures have only got me hooked and now I can't wait for the rest of the series! I love dragons and this series shows them with a vulnerability and side that makes them even more adorable. I highly recommend this series
Dragon Ruins: KARLA AND TAURIAN'S COMPLETE STORY BY RINELLE GREY
Strong, caring and loving human female character in for a surprise that changes her life. Three hundred years since he's been awake, lots of surprises in store for him and his clan. Enjoy their journey through all that changes!! I'm SO RECOMMENDING THAT YOU CHECK OUT FOR YOURSELF AND ENJOY IT TOO!!
This book progresses through (spoiler alert) Taurian and Karla's romance from Karla discovering there are dragons and Taurian discovering he has been asleep for 300 years., to learning about each other's cultures, and of course falling in love all while trying to escape Taurian's enemy. It was a fun and easy to read book. Recommended.
I got the first book as a free download. I liked it so much that a bought the rest of the available series. The only thing I did not like is that we never find out how to produce a white dragon. I hope this is explained in the next book.
I just loved this story, dragons and humans coming together to save a clan. Even though most of the dragons look at humans as leader brings it is a human woman and her friends who save the day. I look forward to reading the next books in this series.
I have no idea why I keep reading this wretched drivel. My only explanation is I read so much I forget which authors are terrible. You can create strong female characters without the men being weak and clueless. Instead of a damsel in distress she goes the other way and makes Lord in distress. It's about balance. Make both the lead characters strong. Aside from that, monologuing in the middle of the action, be it intimate or fighting, is just a big turn off. Tell us what they are thinking in the quiet moments afterwards. Tip for international authors: don't use colloquial terms without explaining to your readers what it means in the beginning. I shouldn't have to stop reading and Google it. Please proofread too! Your characters names shouldn't be misspelled. Thank the Goddess this awful book was free! Hopefully I'll remember the author's name next time so I don't waste my time on garbage again.
Archaeologist Karla has made all kinds of interesting discoveries. But the sexy, sleeping man she found in an Australian cavern? Now that was a shock. Even more surprising, though, are the feelings he awakens in her. How will she ever find the strength to leave him and go back to her normal, mundane life when all is said and done?
The world Prince Taurian knew is gone. This new world is unrecognizable, and he knows he needs Karla’s help to navigate it. But nothing could’ve prepared him for just how much he’d come to care for his lovely rescuer. Too bad she can never be his…
I love how this story developed throughout the story line. The characters were very well put together and made the book really entertaining and the story line made it very unique. This is the first time I've heard of Rinelle Grey and wow was I surprised and blown away.
Very good story but long. Definitely not a quick read but the story does flow fairly smoothly. Some typos such as what instead of that. The setting is the Australian outback. MC is an archaeologist and works in a museum in England but is visiting her dad who lives in Mungaloo, Australia where he has a shop. A customer shows up in the shop and gives her a coin type object asking her to investigate the Dragon Scales before developers descend in the coming days. She does and finds a dragon shifter who she awakens. Thus begins her adventure into a a war between rival clans that has been ongoing for hundreds of years.
First read part one of the serial and now reading the complete book. Not keen on serials pasted together as when they are written as a serial, they have too much wasted writing in them and very little story with lots of ups and downs due to cliff hangers. I liked Taurian and hope to learn more about him and his background story but I found Karla to be not that likeable in part one. I could not connect with her, cannot put my finger on it but she rubbed me the wrong way. Have the complete book through KU so will see how it pans out and update review.
It's great having the entire serial in one book, it's easy to read and you get the entire story one time. The Prince awakens to a whole new world, there's no one left alive that knows him except his enemy, who's still trying to kill him. Karla is visiting her dad but drives out to the Dragon Scales at the urging of a stranger what happens next changes her life.
I thought I had read this before when I started. Now that I finished, it's clear this is the first time through a great story. Cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Questions to be answered, will more humans be mated to the other princes and princesses, and how many clan dragons will find mates im a human. Finally, will any of these matches produce a life dragon.
Karla is given an object and asked to check out a site in hopes of stopping mining operations. Only she wasn't given all the facts. Throughout the whole story it's clear how important it is to have all the facts. Overall quality of writing was good, proofreading had a few glitches, no cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ever after. This is a standalone, but clearly the beginning of a series. Enjoy
Taurian is a bit of a pill when Karla finds his Mesmer Chamber and wakes him. He considers humans too lowly for his exalted prince-ness. But as he gets to know her, her family and friends, he begins to see how valuable they can be. But, can they help him when the Trima clan attacks or will the Rian clan be wiped out of existence? A book with humor, fighting, loyalty, courage, and love. Join Karla and Taurian as they fight for what they want.
I was so annoyed with Taurian at one point, it seemed he was indecisive about everything. So naive no to also see that the elder was trying to get him to mate his granddaughter as he is seeking power. Both times Karla had to save Taurian and she's just a human.
On my goodness, I don't even know how to start telling how much I loved reading this book! I was sucked into this book from the beginning and could not put it down. It is so heartwarming, funny and it tore my heart apart at times. But so worth it. Warning, tissues may be needed!
This is a roller coaster ride of emotion, danger, relationship, friendship, with honor, duty and love. Reading had me jumping in my chair with my excitement for the action and yelling at Taurian and Karla, surprised by Lisa, Bruce and ever Ultrima. A real love-hate feeling. Best story I’ve read in a long time. Totally engaging.
Wow I simply have no words for how much I love this book ! I am now certain I need to read the rest of this series ! Who would have thought in the end Karla's ex boyfriend would end up wanting to help to wake the rest of the princes and princesses of clan Rian !
Waking a dragon isn't easy...and keeping him alive looks like it will even harder. Dragons at war are the backdrop of an epic romance but can it survive. Battles, romance, lovers to friends, enemies and a journey of discovery. Definitely a series that you are going to want more of ..... I know I do!!!
I read about 45 percent of this book, I couldn’t finish reading it. I found the female lead in the book to be so whinny it became annoying. The storyline was interesting but not enough for me to finish it.
I would definitely recommend this book if you are into hot dragon shifters, lots of heart pounding moments and a few sexy times thrown in! I can't wait to read the full series with all the other dragon's stories!
This was an ok story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Taurian and Karla’s connection. I enjoyed reading the way the dragons accepted humans into their clan. At times it got kind of ‘eh’ which was why it took so long to finish. But overall, good story.
HEA for a lonely dragon Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2021 Loved the characters The plot and the twist that gets a lonely dragon & a human girl to a place neither expected but secretly wanted. can’t wait to read the rest in this series!
I've read this twice now and loved it just as much the second time. I think I've read all the Dragon Prince series, but am willing to reread them. Rinelle is an awesome author!!! Thanks
Taurian and Karla are a perfect couple. Both so strong alone but together they are a force to be reckoned with. I was completely drawn into this story. I felt as I'd I was there in the sky with the dragons during battle. Can't wait for the next in the series!!
I really enjoyed reading this story, the plot has you swept away into their exciting new journey from the start. There is plenty of action and emotions to keep you gripped, you certainly won't be disappointed.
