The Mummy Chronicles is a series of four young readers books about Alex O'Connell, set during 1937-38 when he was 12 years old. The later novels in the series are better, but this one does a good job of establishing the Egyptian setting and introducing the 12-year old version of Alex, whom we quickly see is rather like young Indiana Jones. But the resurrection of the Scorpion King is brief and disappointing. My full study of the book is available on PopApostle: http://mummy.popapostle.com/html/epis...
