Like most eighteen-year-old girls, Kalysia has dreams of going to college and falling in love. Born to a family of pure blood shifters; she must set aside her dreams for the good of the pack. Something this strong-willed free spirit is finding difficult to accept.

After an ancient ritual matches her with the strongest alpha in her pack, she takes her place as leader. Determined to create a society that doesn’t judge you on your DNA, Kalsyia challenges tradition at every turn, even if it means losing her power and place in the pack.

When her best friend appears on her doorstep, she is thrilled to have an ally. Soon she discovers that her friend and her soulmate harbor a secret. An offer has been made that will give Kalysia a chance to live the life she’s always wanted.

This book had me hooked from the first chapter. Going in, I knew nothing about this book, other than it was paranormal. I didn't really know where this book would go which made it fun and the words written in the first chapter did it for me. I was hooked.
Kalysia is an 18 year old human with the ability to turn into a wolf. She knows her life isn't her own as being a pure blood she was born to lead her pack, be a strong leader and make positive changes for the pack members. She did not grow up living within the pack and finds she doesn’t like being dictated to by others. Kalysia wants to do what she wants to do and that means living her life how she wants and making decisions for herself.
The story line was well written. I know from past experiences with paranormal books, sometimes it's easy to get lost by the author when they explain the supernatural world, but I found this book really easy to understand. Plus there were gentle reminders throughout the book which was a great help. I really like the way this author writes. This book just had a natural flow to it. Also the story provoked a few emotions including anger, irritation, and the will/want for the love to shine through and make everything okay. A real mixture.
I really enjoyed this book and I'm already looking forward to the next in the series.

I put off reading this because I hate cliff hangers. This has a huge one! Luckily, book two comes out in a couple of days so my suffering is minimal.

This book has a little bit of everything:
A love triangle. (More like a rectangle)
Sexy shifters of the wolf variety.
Cheating. (grrrrrrr)
Baby making.
Beer making.
Great writing.
Interesting plot.
Entertaining story.

I've recommended this book to my friends...now that book 2 is out. Definitely worth the read if you love PNR. If you don't, this is a great book to pop that PNR cherry or stigma that you don't like PNR.

Went into this story not knowing what to expect and I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I LOVED THIS BOOK! Hooked after the first few pages! The world these characters live in was vividly described. I felt pulled in from the start. I'm terrible about giving too much away, so I'll just say this is a fantastic romance with a fantasy element and you'll definitely want to add it to your summer TBR list!

Reading Paranormal Romances has never been my cup of tea. Every time we get a request (at The Bookish Sisters book blog) to review anything Paranormal related I immediately hand it over to my sister. I don't know what it is they've done wrong for me to dislike them, I just can't help but shriek at the mere thought of reading them.
On the other hand, give me the Twilight movies or The Vampire Diaries and I'll be the happiest lad ever. There is definitely something wrong going on with my taste.
That is why it was a pleasant suprise to find out I'm not completely broken and I actually really enjoyed at least one Paranormal read, The Lunam Ceremony.

I am no PNR expert, not even close but I think with all of my heart that Nicole Loufas did an amazing job with this book. It is perfectly written, it is entretaining, the story is so well thought out, it is a page turner if I have ever read one and it quite literaly leaves you hanging. One book from this series and you are totally gone for. I can't wait to read the next book.

I wouldn't say I am a complete fan of Paranormal Romances now but this book gave me the little push I needed in order to give more of them a try.

I have to start by saying that paranormal romances are not usually my cup of tea. I totally went into this book not knowing how I would feel or if I would even be able to complete it. OMG, I was so completely caught off guard. I was drawn in Chapter 1 and could not put this book down. I flew through the pages and did not want this story to end!!! Just when I thought things were going to go one way, guess again. I loved the constant little "surprises" and lets just say that the HOT shifters weren't so bad either. A definite must-read, I cannot wait for Book 2!

I don't read a lot of NA and have only recently started reading paranormal romance to find out they are, indeed a lot of fun.

This book focuses on Kalysia, a pureblood alpha female in a wolf pack. She was raised away from her pack and other wolves and only meets them when she is 18, at the Luman ceremony, when she will make her first change and meet her mate.

What I liked about this book is that there is a lot of world building going on. While we don't see much about what goes on while Kalaysia is a wolf, we learn about pack dynamics, history, and the politics behind everything that goes everything behind the scenes that ends up driving the plot in the book.

The book is a page turner and rife with drama. To be honest, last night, it was about 1AM and I was about 83% through the book. I knew I needed to go to bed because I needed to go to work, so I reluctantly put it down and turned the light out. Then I ended up lying in bed for about 2 hours having an inner monologue that went something like "You should just get up and finish it!" "NO! Go to bed. You need to function at work!" "Please, that's what an entire pot of coffee is for" "SHUT UP BRAIN"

Needless to say, I probably would have gotten more sleep if I had just stayed up the extra hour and just finished it, but you know, sometimes I have to adult

The Lunam Ceremony is different from other shapeshifter books I've read. Nicole Loufas did such a great job with the worldbuilding that this story seemed real to me. (I totally want to see if I can find their camp in the Sierra Mountains.) I enjoyed the twists and turns that had me questioning everyone's motives and loyalty. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series!

This is a great shifter book. but it is an AMAZING story. The first book in this series and from what I can tell, the author's first paranormal/fantasy book. She does a great job with laying out the story. The information was weaved in so it didn't feel like it was being forced onto the reader.
You don't have to like fantasy to read this book, the story is exceptional.

Kalysia is the heir to her pack, in order to rule she must have a male partner that she will match with at The Lunam Ceremony. She matches with Dillan. Their relationship isn't insta-love, it's insta-lust. I like that the author makes note of this right off the bat. She isn't trying to sell feelings, just feels.

When Kalysia's best friend finds herself in a precarious spot, Kalysia hatches a plan that will either save or destroy her relationship, not only with Dillan, but with her entire pack.

The main characters were very likable, but I really fell in love with the side characters. They are so personable and funny. I also enjoyed the reality factor. Not everyone is the same, or love the same gender. Kalysia is unlike other heirs, she believes in fairness and equality. I can't wait to see how she transforms the pack (or if she can at all) in the series. A lot of wonderful moments and even better characters. I have to say this book for me, is character driven. I really can't wait to see where their stories go.

The Lunam Ceremony - Nicole Loufas

### 5 Hashtags ###

I completely and utterly love this book, such an easy 5 stars - what great shifter book !

Kalysia has been raised outside the wolf community, her Mum, Lalya, has done this to make her more independent. Kalysia is a pure blood and the last in her line, she is needed to continue the bloodline and the strength of the pack.

At the Lunam Ceremony she connects with Dillon and their bond is beautiful, but is he really the one for her ? is their connection enough and can they overcome the huge obstacles in front of them ?

This book is brilliantly written, I connected so well with Kalysia and felt her struggle with what she so badly wants and what is right for the pack. The friendships and relationships throughout this book are strong and I was completely transported into their world. I that next book now!! ...please don't make me wait too long !

This will be short and to the point because I am not a fan of being negative. I was so excited for a new werewolf book to read. I did not enjoy this book. It started out fine, with a girl anticipating her new role in the werewolf pack and starting her new life...but it went downhill about 60 pages into the book. The main character was so extremely wishy-washy, loving one man and then instantly loving another and then back again. Also, she has an idea she fully supports (which was a horrible idea and the main plot of the story and it was the worst idea ever!!!!) but when it is brought up and suggested by somebody else, she hates the idea and is angry. This was how the entire book went! Back and forth , hot and cold.... It was awful. This is why emotional 18 year olds with no life experience should not be in charge of anything, let alone a pack. Can I just say that pimping out your special man friend to help a sister out NEVER ends well? Sharing is not caring, just saying. One thing the author did do was get me so worked up over the stupidity of the character's life choices that I sat and stewed and raved over this book for days after finishing the story, so I guess this has lasting power...
Overall this was not a book for me, but I am sure that someone else will enjoy it.

I don't read a lot of urban fantasy. Not since my Twilight phase. But this shifter book isn't really a book about wolves. It's a great romance with a little bit of fantasy thrown in. The beginning is like most paranormal/fantasy books with some world building, but it isn't just dumped on the reader, it's paced nicely. About a 1/3 of the way into the book I was sold. The connection between the characters was written very well and its believable. Great job. I will definitely read the next book.

Wow! Lunam Ceremony just blew me out of the water. The author takes us on an adventure into the world of wolf shifters that will send you on a roller coaster ride of emotions as it weaves a web with so many twists and turns of suspense and drama that makes this action packed story so incredible!
When a pure bloodline wolf shifter reaches their eighteenth birthday, they attend the Altum Lunam Ceremony to find their true mate. Upon doing so, they will start a new branch with their own pack.
The Sierra packs are full bloodline of wolf shifters. Like royalty. Power. Whereas the Shasta wolf packs are more along the lines of half breeds, who are unable to shift.
Even though Kalysia wasn't raised in the wolf pack, she is an alpha female pure bloodline of the Sierra and Shasta packs. She will find her mate and become the leader of her pack which will make the two packs eventually merge together upon the birth of her child. She isn't aware of some of the rules and politics of the packs. Kalysia hopes her father, whom she's never met, will attend also.
Dillan is a alpha wolf shifter of the Sierra wolf pack. He is attending the Lunam Ceremony to find his mate and become the leader of his own pack.
Cassie is like a cousin to Kalysia and they quickly become friends due to her bloodline. Will Cassie find her mate during the Altum Lunam Ceremony?
Jase lives with the Shasta pack. He doesn't care about his bloodline or leading a pack. He just wants to live his life as he pleases. What is his true bloodline?
As the story unfolds, Dillan's dad is pressuring Dillan by making certain demands in order for Dillan's dad to keep his power over the Sierra and Shasta packs. If Dillan does not go through with his father's demands, then his father will disown him and Dillan will be banished from his pack. Will Dillan do as his father has demanded and risk his relationship with his mate?
What does Kalysia and Cassie plot? Will they be able to live with the final results? Who are the father(s) of their babies? Will relationships be destroyed?
My heart went out to these young characters as they struggled to make the right decisions with demands and pressures thrown upon them by the council according to the old ways.
I would definitely recommend this book!  5 stars+. Lunam Deception is book 2 of this series.

In this story, the wolves are strong and powerful, their main goals are to be matched together with others of their kind to breed to make sure they keep their bloodlines going. Kalysia is a purebred matched with an equal, their story as a couple is complicated but you wouldn’t want me to spoil it. Things get a little complicated with a friend that Kalysia made at Lunam and you can read about that hot mess in the book, trust me I don’t want to be the one to break it to you.

While a little confusing to follow at times it was a really good fast read. Started yesterday and finished today, I was really into the story and the characters. I don’t know how Kalysia got herself into the messes that she managed to get in, but I’m curious to see what happens in the next book of the series. I am going to start reading the next one asap but I am still in a kind of what the heck just happened shock from the first book.

My favorite line in the book is one that I told myself I don’t even need to remember but had me searching for the exact page is was on so I couldn’t get it wrong. It had me laughing out loud to the point I was worried someone was going to think I was going for the role in a new Disney movie as the villain.

“You’ve never really been in love until you’ve plotted somebody’s murder.”

Wow that just got really dark, but I couldn’t help myself, it was just too funny.

Holy hell!! I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as i did. I had the pleasure of meeting the author at #bookbonanza19, and she was the absolute nicest person. I've always had a love for wolves, so this was definitely up my alley. I really liked Kalysia, i first thought that she was a bit naive with the whole Cassie situation. In my head the whole i kept screaming for her to react the way a normal 18 year old would react. I would've screamed and been pissed off at the situation. I also like Rusty and Leah, it would be nice to learn more about them. I've been going back and forth about Dillan and have come to the conclusion that i don't like his character that much. He didn't really fight that hard to get out of the whole situation. I like Jase, even though we don't know much about him. I can't wait to read the second book and get Jase's perspective, I would like to read Dillan's perspective too, maybe I'm judging harshly. I will say though... #TeamJase.

From the minute I started reading this book, I was pulled into the story and couldn't put it down even though I was trading sleep for reading. The lore of the wolf shifters and the dynamics of the packs are fascinating, as you see things through the eyes of Kalysia, the alpha female who was raised away from the pack and suddenly mated and thrown into the role of alpha of her own pack. Due to her lack of knowledge of pack rules, she makes choices that cause consequences she's not sure she can live with. Plus, if she feels such a connection to her mate and fellow alpha, why is she drawn so strongly to this other shifter living off the grid?

I literally could not put this book down from the moment I started reading this and started reading book 2 the minute I finished reading this book. If you like paranormal books, I highly recommend this series.

Nicole is under rated, her books are amazing. I haven’t read a book of hers that I don’t like. I finished this book in a day, and I’m a few chapters from finishing the second book, which only took me about two days! This story is so different I haven’t read a book with mythical creatures in awhile, I love how this book isn’t far fetched, it’s all completely realistic despite the werewolves but amazing none the less! I can’t wait to turn my friends onto Nicole’s work!

When I first opened this book, I did not know what to expect. Part of me, didn't even want to read it, because I am such a die hard vampire fan, and this wasn't a vampire book. I can not tell you how happy I am I opened it!!!! The lunam ceremony quickly became my favorite read of the summer ! For me, that is a HUGE THING !
The lunam ceremony has everything you crave in a great read. It has love. It has heartbreak. It has fighting. It has everything.
Kaylisa was raised by her mother in the city, knowing one day she would have to attend the biggest ceremony of her life. The lunam ceremony. She went to public school, lived in a little apartment with her mother, and had her best friend a text away. Her 18th birthday was around the corner though ,and on this day she would change into her wolf form for the first time, and also choose her mate for life.
On the day of the lunam ceremony, she did just that. She shifted into her wolf form, matched with a partner, and left the city life behind. It seemed all was falling into place.
But it wasn't all that simple.
The boy she matched with seemed to like her a bit more than she did him, and not just that, she also found out because they both were of pure blood, his duty was also to mate with other women, and create his offspring. Basically, he could sleep with whomever, and kaylisa had to turn her eye the other way.
With Kaylisa and her mate now in charge of her pack, many changes were to be made. Things definitely weren't going to stay the same as they used to be, if Kaylisa had her say.
There is so much more to this book that is so amazing, but you will have to read it to find out.! I don't want to be the one to spoil it, but I will tell you, there is also a pretty juicy love triangle going on, and it will leave you wanting more!
Don't pass up The Lunam Ceremony! I am so glad I didnt!

I have mixed feelings about The Lunam Ceremony. I am always hesitant to grab shape shifting paranormal books. Some I have read in the past are so cheesy and over the top that I cannot connect and it is not my cup of tea. There are a few authors that hit the nail on the head for me and I stay within their worlds. So branching out was a step and I ended this story curious about what would happen and somewhat unsure of how I felt about what already took place.

To start off, the story was well written and well paced. The book is solid when it comes to a story and my hesitancies are completely personal, nothing to do with the way the book was written. Nicole does a great job of blending the paranormal shape shifting world with the human world, showing the differences between what we know and what they know.

In this story Kalysia was born into a clan but raised completely cut off from it. She is different. This these was brilliant. The reader is able to better transition into the story from her POV because she is learning her role in pack life as she goes. There is information thrown at her when she asks but so many things are based on instinct which is new, allowing her to explore both sides of who she is and taking the reader along for the ride. This story is obviously about shape shifters, but it does not feel overwhelming in the details of that world. It is a theme that is vital to the story, but the main focus is on Kalysia and her experiences, her struggles as a leader in a new pack, and her determination to make a difference and change the mentality of the people she is leading.

The romance in this story is one of the things that makes me hesitant. I feel like it was well spelled out and shared in this book but it was not really connecting for me. Kalysia connects in a special way with Dillan and she decides to be with him. It is also fast, which is part of the premise. I get that. It is insta love on Dillan's side, something that always makes me step back a bit. Yet watching the story unfold in Kalysia's POV allows the romance to be a bit more reserved. She is uncertain as to her connection, only noticing that is is deep and her heart is connected. She is learning what everything means when it comes to mating and choosing your partner, something that allows the reader to jump in with her. But there are some things that happen later that irked me and caused a bit more of a disconnect from the romance. Again, complete personal preference.

There is so much that happens in the last half of this book and I am definitely intrigued about where the story is going. This series has the potential to be laced in intense drama. There are secrets and hidden agendas that come to play and seeing how it all unfolds should be quite interesting. This New Adult paranormal is a decent start to a new series and I am curious where Nicole Loufas is headed with her characters and drama.

***Solid 5 Star Read***

I have no clue how I came to find this book or who recommended it but I am starting to think that this book found me! I was so pleasantly surprised by this story that I couldn't put it down. Kalysia is a young girl who is also a wolf. She was not raised with the pack because her mother, Layla took her away when she was a baby. So pack politics is not something that Kalysia understands or really cares about. Enter Lunam and Dillon.....
Lunam is this mysterious awakening where the young 'phase' (turn into a wolf) for the first time and become adults. They also meet their mate at Lunam, at least that is the goal, because breeding and keeping the bloodlines pure is very important to the packs.
Dillon is an Alpha and has his sights set on Kalysia, but she wont be easily won over and loves to give chase. However, Dillon might get tired of chasing Kalysia.....
Kalysia is a typical teen with emotions that will give you whiplash. That is the only criticism that I have for the book is that Kalysia went from one end of the spectrum to the other in about 2 seconds. Bi-polar as Kalysia may be, author Nicole Loufas did a great job at keeping the reader involved in the story and feeling every feel.
While Kalysia is young, immature at times and knows nothing about pack life, she quickly becomes a fair leader that everyone looks to. However, she never quite feels like she is whole... even though she is happier than she has ever been living with the pack, she still feels like a piece of her is missing. Her story is about finding that missing piece (if she can), holding onto it or doing what is best for the pack in order to make them happy. She realizes how many people depend on her so she struggles internally with doing what is right for the pack or making herself happy.
As soon as I finished The Lunam Ceremony, I immediately downloaded The Lunam Deception: Book 2, The Lunam Series and it (so far) is just as good as the first! Happy reading!!

This is one of those reviews that I struggle writing. It is also one where I feel the need to emphasise that 3-stars is NOT a bad rating! I enjoyed this book, it just didn't blow me out of the water like it has for some. Let me explain...

Kalysia is preparing to have her Lunam Ceremony, after being brought up by her mother out of Pack life. Although Kalysia knew from an early age just who she is, she also knows next to nothing about what being part of a Pack entails. Her mother tells her that Kalysia will shift for the first time into her wolf, and she will also meet the love of her life at the same time. As it happens though, other people let slip that there's a bit more to it than that and free will is also involved. Kalysia and Dillan bond and everything is happy, or so it seems.

I will leave the story synopsis there as really, you need to read the book for yourself and my review isn't just to rewrite the synopsis for you.

Kalysia is a strong character that reacts 'normally' to situations. She gets angry, she gets tearful, she gets resentful. The thing I couldn't quite get is that even though it is proven that her mother lied to her, she just brushes it off and blindly follows what her mum wants her to do.

Dillan is an okay character that I could never warm up to. There is just something about him that left me wary. Is he a good guy or not? Is he the actual main male in this story, or not?

With emotions at an all-time high throughout the book, plus a 'love' triangle that turns quadruple (possibly?!?!), you will have to read every word to understand what is going on.

With an interesting take on a genre saturated with shifter stories, this was very well written.

This book is about a young woman who knows that she is the child of an “original” shifter. When she is 18 she and her mother leave the only home Kalysia has known to attend the Lunam Ceremony. Once she arrives, she meets her father and discovers the truth. She in fact will be the female head of the new pack. She will also find out who she will be with for the rest of her life. Once the ceremony has happened, the new pack moves to their camp and start their business. Kalysia has been mated to Dillan, also an original and now male head of the new pack. The entire pack moves to their new place and life begins for all of them. Kalysia is happy for a while, but then she realizes, she doesn’t really believe in love at first sight and really wants to live outside of the pack.
Will Kalysia be able to put the thoughts of going to college aside and learn to live in the pack and love Dillan?
The reason for the 4 stars is at times it dragged. I had trouble getting into the book, it started off pretty slow. I also couldn’t really get into some of the characters or side plots. I understand that this is the first book in a series and everyone was being introduced, but for me it was a bit much.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It took me a while to get into this book, but once I was about 50% through I was loving it. I love the paranormal genre. Authors create worlds that we can’t even imagine, and even though I know they aren’t real, I love them. I think it takes a special writer to create these worlds.
I think the reason I wasn’t immediately invested in this book was because the beginning was full of details as this world was created. I wanted to get into the story. Once the author had created this world, I became invested in the characters, especially Kaylsia. But there a lot of characters and in a few places, I had to backtrack to remind myself about their relationship to the other characters.
But as I said, I reached that point where I became fully immersed in this story and it was then hard to put it down and now I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Lunam series.
