Di is competing in her first tournament of the competition season, but an annoying coach is distracting her and every archer around her. When he is found dead of a heart attack brought on by Taser, then Di, Liam and Great Dane Moo hatch a clever plan to discover which of the many suspects with motive and opportunity helped the coach shuffle off his mortal coil.
A wholesome, cozy murder for every sleuth in the family
This is the fourth book in the Target Practice Mysteries series.
Nikki Haverstock is a writer who lives on a cattle ranch high in the Rocky Mountains. She has studied comedy writing at Second City and has published 6 cozy mysteries that are heavy on the humor.
Before fleeing the city, she hosted a competitive archery reality show, traveled the world to study volcanoes, taught archery and computer science at a university and now works on her family’s ranch herding cattle. Nikki has more college degrees than she has sense and hopefully one day she will put one to work.
Nikki likes to write comedy pieces that focus on the everyday humor of one-uppers, annoying family members and strange behavior of the ultra-rich. She tried stand up but the cattle weren’t impressed.
Poor Di is competing in a tournament and feeling stressed. Then a coach of a youth archery team is found dead. Di and Mary are once again on the case. I really enjoy all of the characters in this series. They are likable and seem to have formed a "family" at the Westmound center. I learn something new about competitive archery in every book and I've enjoyed my "education".
Di is competing for the first time in years, and she's understandably nervous. Liam comes to town to support her, though, which probably helps. And of course Moo is there by her side as always.
There's one youth coach who seems to irritate everyone, even his team! When he's found outside, dead of a heart attack apparently triggered by a run-in with a Taser, the police (who are on-scene anyway because of the facility's murder-prone reputation) start questioning the kids in the competition and their parents, too. Liam and Di try to help calm their nerves (and surreptitiously solve the case) by doing one-on-one mock interviews and gleaning clues in the process. Di solves it and gets everyone the help they need.
This book was very short but far exceeded the previous one in the series in quality. Don't expect a complex plot. Don't expect strong character development. What you do get is a quick mystery with a lot of insight into competitive archery. Not much else, but what do you expect from such a short book?
Fabulous! This shows the lengths that some people would go to to win. An archery competition isn't supposed to be the end of the line but it proves to be for one of the coaches. Watch the girls, with input from Liam, sort through who had the strongest motive to do away with him. Moo as always is a pleasure to read about and the budding romance is well done. Terrific!
The 4th book in the Target Practice Mystery series can be read as a stand alone book or out of sync with the other books in the series. Well developed characters, knowledgeable plot development, a good read.
A coach is found dead from a heart attack but Do learns he was hit by a tazer first. She and Liam set out to find the culprit, while they get closer in their relationship.
Sporting events can be deadly comparative. For one hands on coach it becomes deadly shocking in more ways than one. Enter the world of archery and in this series the mystery's behind the scenes.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I got to learn more about archery and the competitions that are held and how they score points. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading mysteries.
Death Indoors is the fourth book in Nikki Haverstock’s Target Practice Mysteries series. I found this book to be humorous, even paced, entertaining, and a fun read. The storyline is well written, flows smoothly, and the characters are well developed, likeable, and relatable. I have enjoyed reading this series and learning about competitive archery. I recommend the Target Practice Mystery series to readers who enjoy a good, clean, and cozy mystery.
The story is set in the fictional Westmound Center for Competitive Shooting Sports, located in rural Wyoming. Di is participating in her first competition since her return to competitive archery. Not only is she nervous and concerned she won’t perform well, she is distracted by the unprofessional behavior of one of the personal coaches. Even though she is trying to focus on her performance, her kind heart has her reaching out and helping two teenage archers who said coach has distressed. Coach Ron dies of an apparent heart attack but after further investigation, the authorities believe the heart attack was brought on by a Taser. Coach Ron is an overzealous, loud, and rude youth coach who is hiding other secrets. Since her friend and roommate, Mary, is also competing, Di comes up with a plan and teams up with Liam to interview some of the suspects.

Death Indoors, the fourth book in the Target Practice series, follows Di as she participates in her first archery competition in nearly a decade held at the Archery Training complex where she works. A particularly aggressive and outspoken youth coach is making everyone nervous during the competition as he posts a video of a competitor on the internet much to the mother's dismay. He makes Di move to another area as if he owns the space. He ruins the settings on a student's equipment when the parent indicates that they have decided to work with another coach. Many people are disgruntled or angry with the coach's antics. Then the coach is found outside the complex dead of a suspected heart attack.
Once the cause of death is found to be that the coach was hit with a taser which led to the heart attack, Di joins the investigation to determine who had the opportunity and motive to attack the coach. She arranges meetings with the potential suspects under the guise of teaching them what to do to get and meet the demands of sponsorship.
The story is cute and Di and Moo are up to their usual comical antics. Di and Liam seem to be getting chummier with every book in the series. The mystery keeps you guessing along with Di until the truth comes out!
I was given an advance copy of the book for my honest review.

Di, sponsored by Westmound, is competing in her first archery competition in 10 years. She has moved to Wyoming after separating from her husband, works at a complex set up for Olympic hopefuls working in in the fields of archery and shooting and has made quite a number of friends over the past year.
Di is confident then nervous about her first competition. With friends to support her and new people to meet she does as well as she can. A few times she steps in to help out a few of the younger archers even giving a few nicknames that they treasure.
This would not be a cozy mystery without murder. When one of the rather annoying coaches ends up dead in the snow Di is on the trail quickly to try and find out who killed him and why.
I believe this is a story that will appeal to a wide age range. It is a story that can be read by youth or by adults to a younger audience. The love interest between Liam and Di is perfectly discrete and Moo, the Great Dane, plays an excellent chaperone.
Thank you to the author for the copy of this book to read and review.
This is a wonderful cozy mystery series by Nikki Haverstock I really enjoy reading all of her books and Death Indoors was no exception I literally couldn't put it down until I finished and it left me wanting more. Di is in her first competition and she is a bundle of nerves. Liam is back to support Di in her first contest and also to celebrate her birthday. and the rest of the gang is there competing and supporting each other, I really feel like everyone is becoming a family together at the centre. Di is a wonderfully strong woman after finding her husband was cheating on her with her best friend it's now a year later and she is really hoping her divorce will be final soon she is ready to move on and she really hopes to move on with Liam and Liam seems just as taken with Di they read like they would make a great couple. I really enjoyed this book a good mystery
Great Series! This is a great book; this is the fourth book in the Target Practice Mysteries series by Nikki Haverstock. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read one you will want to go back and read the rest in the series. Di works at an archer training center and is competing in her first tournament of the competition season. She is nervous enough and the annoying coach at the tournament is distracting her and all the other archers. When the annoying coach is found dead outside, Di and her friends put their sleuthing skills to the test again to find out what really happened. If you are looking for a great mystery then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Death Indoors is a quick visit with Di, Liam, Moo and the gang. It’s Di’s first tourney since returning to the sport and if that wasn’t enough to set her nerves off it’s also her 31st birthday and there is the coach from hell distracting her and every archer around her. When he dies everybody has a motive. Join the gang while they compete and try to figure out who done it. Another fun addition to the Target Practice Mysteries. I will say that there is a lot of technical terms but they don’t affect the mystery and you might just learn something. I really like this series.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite cozy series. The characters continue to grow and I'm enjoying their journey. Each book is better than the last, there were many suspects and I was kept guessing until the end. I look forward to each book and can't wait for the next one!
