I liked the creative use of piece, paper and textures for the art work. However, I think it would be a better story will more cute and fuzzy pictures. The weird yarn thingy, and newspaper creation are cool, (I actually really like them) but they don't seem consistent with the premise of the story! Just my humble opinion!

The illustrations were very unique, but not really what I would have preferred for such sweet words. They were very quirky, which will appeal to some, like my child. I would almost have preferred photographs of real families. I liked the message of this book. I think it would be best read one-on-one with a child, due to the illustrations being so busy. It was very colorful, but too much for sharing in a story time setting.

To sum it up:charming art that adults and older children will enjoy, and perhaps even be inspired by. But the same old "I like you because" text you can find in a thousand other books.

And no, this is NOT probably a good book for toddlers, unless you are one of those folks who thinks that 2-4 year olds are toddlers. The text has nothing to hold them, and the art isn't aimed at them either.

SO cool to know that Farrington's art is on display at the NY Transit Museum! This style of artwork speaks to me so charmingly and so loudly! The mix of media is so enchanting. The creatures so sweet and cute.

A great be yourself book. A parent tells a child they love them when they are silly and brave and everything in between. Loved the parent child combos where all different types of made up animals and peoples. Any age group.

There are so many ways that we love our children it can be hard to recount them all, so grab this picture book, find a snuggle place for you and your little one and read them this book that illustrates some of the many ways that these monster parents love their children. Colorful pages and simple examples will help to reinforce with your child that they truly are the love of your life. Recommend as a great bonding book for little ones.

Adorable little monsters and other creatures act out the scenes in this sweet picture book as a parent tells their child what they love about them. The collaged illustrations are colorful and whimsical and the text is just begging to be read aloud. Really sweet book!

I'm not normally a fan of mushy books like this. I think the wacky creatures throughout make it seem less schmaltzy and more interesting...
