I loved everything about this book. Hunter is a paramedic with a huge heart and a hero complex. He meets Madison when he and his partner/best friend Beau help her deliver her baby after she gets into a car accident and goes into labor. She leaves an impression and he goes to check on her the next day to find she has already been discharged. Missed opportunity, right? Well the universe has other plans for these two because she ends up in the hospital again and Beau catches wind of it and shares it with Hunter. Hunter of course goes to check up on her and their connection is remade. The story follows Hunter's attempt to return to medical school after some difficult times in his youth made him drop out. It follows Madison's attempt to overcome difficult financial and emotional trials during a time where she is starting new relationships, with her daughter and Hunter, as well as dealing with the baggage of old ones. The plot was interesting because it felt genuine. It isn't some unbelievable fantastical tale. This is a regular (but sexy as hell) guy falling in love with a girl that is down on her luck but pretty awesome in how she's dealing. Hunter is really amazing in how he sees the world. Yes, he always wants to be the hero and some day it might not work out for whoever he's rescuing... but to be frank, I'd rather someone shower me with hope than to drag me down with pessimism. Despite this "flaw" I really feel like he and Madison connected. Their love scenes are seriously hot proof. For my safety gang ... Hunter has eyes honed in exclusively on Madison and vice versa. Others aren't even a blip.

3.5 When a Hero Is Really Just a Man Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
Sometimes it would be so easy to let others step in and save the day for us...make us feel safe and cared for... with no other worries. But then when the fantasy haze has cleared and the reality of life takes over, what becomes more thrilling and desirable is doing things for yourself and making your own way. The true fantasy is to be competent, self-sufficient and be equal in whatever situation...and THEN finding, if wanted, that other person to share the joys and experiences life brings...

In Samanthe Beck's Emergency Delivery (Love Emergency, #2), she attacks those ideas and more.
Here we have Hunter, an EMT Paramedic. His life had a huge hiccup early on during his first run at becoming a doctor. The inner savior in him put aside his own goals to handle a situation he was told he was part of...sacrificing everything he had worked for. Things later proved he was used...and his path changed. He is now on the brink of climbing that mountain again...he is just waiting for the acceptance letters from numerous medical schools to become the doctor he was meant to be.

There is one little hiccup to this scenario; Hunter has a tendency to promise things to the injured he cannot guarantee will happen...like they are not going to die...or everything is going to be just fine...
EMT's are supposed to go in, take care of the patient... settle them down, transport them and hand them off to the doctors at the hospitals. They do their due diligence, paperwork etc. and off to the next emergency.

Hunter does all of that. He and his partner are solid. What Hunter will do naturally is see how to make the patient focus, relax as best as they can and in those moments of connection, he will see into the situation and feel what needs to be said for the needed outcome... Like calming the seriously injured man down by telling him he wasn't going to die...and resulting in the blood pressure lowering to a more respectable level and stabilizing him for transfer. Was he seriously hurt, yes...was there a risk of mortal injury, possibly... but by calming the man down to where the medication and machines were allowed to do their work...Hunter just knew he had done the right thing.

Too bad his boss doesn't think so...she thinks he has a Hero Complex and won't sign off on his reference for med school. She has put him on notice to reel it in.

Well, that is going to be a bit difficult...because of Madison Foley.

Madison Foley never had it easy....but she did have a grandma who took her in, raised her and loved her. When the grandma became ill, it was only right and natural for Madison to put her college on hold and take care of her. When grandma passed, Madison was lost and vulnerable... ripe for picking....and a sharp dresser, smooth talker plucked her up and had her move to Atlanta with him. From that point, things went downhill fast; Madison didn't know she was pregnant when she moved and Cody was hip deep in gambling and drugs. He would end up using her inheritance, claiming the baby wasn't his and being an overall swine. Madison woke up fast...

She moved out and got her own little place...
She worked double shifts to save up and buy all of the things needed for the baby...
She went to her doctor, read the pamphlets and tried to eat right...
She also was brave and strong turning Cody away when he asked the last time for money while strung out on drugs. She allowed herself to feel proud of her determination.

She then got slapped by the reality of being connected to a man like Cody.
He broke into her house while she was at work taking everything; the baby car seat, the clothes, everything and the $300 saved in her underwear drawer.

But Madison may have been kicked but she wasn't down...she talked to her supervisor and changed locations at work; she found a crappy day to day motel to save up and her due date in 3 weeks should give her barely enough time to move and be ready. The good news is the company she worked for had a great maternity leave and when she returned, they helped financially with daycare.

The bad news is she was hit in a car accident...

Hunter is in his rig with Beau and they get a call to hurry to a scene of an accident on the side of the highway. None of the information gives them any idea of what they will be handling. These partners trade off as to who handles the rig and patient; when it is seen to be a possible birth, Beau steps away...and Hunter goes and handles it. Hunter understood Beau's reason and nothing needed to be said.

As Hunter connects with Madison, she is taken by this man who's eyes draw her in and the confidence and easy going charm relaxes her a bit. ...But here she is...scared half to death, upset this baby is coming NOT on her very precise timetable and totally not comfortable with this amazingly handsome man dipping down and looking where no has gone since the Asshat Cody... oh no, she needs the female cop who was by her side earlier.

Hunter sees where this is going and he knows he needs to get in there as the labor pains are coming closer and closer...He lets Madison think Beau and him are Partners...and he doesn't play for her team...it is only how he says partners... but it does what he needs... Madison relaxes a bit, her little girl is born into Hunter's hands and everything looks to be better. Except...Hunter senses the worry and fright Madison is feeling...she muttered a few things which caused him to be concerned... and when she needs to hear it... he tells her everything is going to be alright... that things will work out and she is brave and strong and her baby is lucky to have her as a mommy.

What happens in this story is the bonding of these two... and it is sweet, caring, sexy and easy to read. There is the underlining concern of does he really care for me or am I another to save...and he is trying to separate the feelings of Madison and also his need to focus on the upcoming medical school demands.

Both characters are likable and the way Hunter is attentive to the baby and Madison just feels so natural. The attraction between them worked for me as well as the flow of the story. There was extra tension coming into play with the Ex, the concern of motivations and the need for Madison to feel like she could make it on her own.

This was an easy read and felt like a strong entry for Samanthe Beck.
~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
A bundle of Joy arriving a little too soon...
A mom who has taken what life has handed her and is trying to make her way...
An EMT paramedic who takes his responsibilities to a Hero Level...
Is this just a rescue mission or something real...
4 stars… I feel like this book probably deserves an even higher rating… and there were only a few small things that prevented it. Otherwise, this book was really great. It’s a relatively unique story since the hero delivered the heroine’s baby on the side of the road. He then proceeds to rescue her when she’s at her lowest. She started out as a bit of a charity case for him, but quickly became so much more. I loved the progression of their feelings and I could really feel their connection.
As for what I didn’t like… the hero was a manwhore before the heroine and I just didn’t want to know about constant rotation of girls he brought home. Luckily, no details given beyond that. Also, I saw parts of the ending conflict coming from a mile away. I hate when the foreshadowing is so heavy that it interferes with me feeling any kind of surprise at the events. I think a little more mystery behind what to expect would have really made this book much more enjoyable.
Safe; heroine pregnant/gives birth to OM’s baby. Her ex causes a good deal of drama but it’s never a question of them getting back together or anything. The hero was a manwhore and the fact that he had a revolving door of women is mentioned several times. He stops that behavior as soon as he meets the heroine - at least it is somewhat implied that he did. He is definitely all about her as soon as they are reunited (about a month after the initial meeting). No OW drama, no cheating, no scenes with om/ow.
Samanthe Beck brings her reader another paramedic to love in Emergency Delivery. If you're looking for a steamy read, then I'll be honest, this leans more towards slow-burn and emotional rather than hot and sexy, but the eventual action we are brought between this couple is of Samanthe's usual quality.
“Gotta have faith in happy endings. Otherwise, what’s the point?”
We met Hunter and Madison in book one and I have to confess I wasn't expecting her to become his love interest. Their meeting is unexpected, and when he delivers her daughter at the roadside he's inexplicably drawn to her and her baby girl. It's not the most conventional of situations, but we do see Hunter for the sweetheart he is right from the start when he discovers Madison is struggling but hell-bent on doing the best for her daughter, Joy; she's stubborn and determined but fighting a losing battle against the witty, charmer with a big heart and a bit of a hero-complex that is Hunter.
description
As a couple, they were endearing and easy to relate to and, although fairly predictable, the storyline was easy-read and not overflowing with drama, which it easily could have been when Joy's dad entered the mix. I'm still of the opinion that this series is more in-line with Entangled's Lovestruck imprint rather than Brazen, because it does have a sweet, meet-cute vibe, but never the less, an enjoyable, heartwarming, sexy (once it got going) romance.
Another enjoyable book in the series.
Loved loved loved Hunter. And Madison was awesome, a crappy life but so determined.
It is a sweet, lovely story to read and I was just happy reading it. I truly loved Hunter and Madison as a couple.
I also really enjoyed the bits in the book with Beau and Hunter and their friendship.
However the relationship was a touch rushed for me, and Hunter's boss felt like she was being a bitch just because she could.
All in, it was just a really lovely, sweet enjoyable book that makes you happy. Not sure what more you could want really.
Oh. My. Gosh. The sweet! Emergency Delivery was adorable and wonderful and had me doing all kinds of girly sighing because seriously it was so flipping cute.
The Gist: Sometimes you meet your one true love while pushing another human out your hooha. Such, it seems, is Madison's lot in life as a sexy EMT comes to her rescue after a car accident. And that EMT, well, Hunter decides he's just gonna keep her and her daughter Joy. *nods* Just gotta convince her first. lol
Yeah, these two were everything. I loved them both. Madison is a strong lady. She's made some bad choices and trusted the wrong people and is starting over completely. Only this time with a newborn in tow. But she keeps plugging away and never gives up. She's determined to stand on her own two feet and it was hard not to cheer her on and be proud of her. Even if she could be a bit stubborn now and again.
And Hunter. Well Hunter is just a good guy who does whatever he can to help others even if it's above and beyond his job requirements. He has a huge heart and is just a stand up guy you can't help but fall for.
Their romance was sweet. And a little complicated since she had a new baby and, in some ways, was in the hero's debt. Namely...he gives her a place to live. But it's so damn sweet, yall. I loved watching them make a home together and settling in. Some steamy bits, some frustrating bits, some every day just life bits. It was lovely.
All in all, Emergency Delivery left me smiling. I seriously loved these two and watching them fall for each other. And oh my word the proposal/big speech... dayum! Enough to make a girl full out swoon.
Another great read by Samanthe Beck, I really enjoyed Emergency Delivery.
The storyline was entertaining, the drama was well done, nothing too over the top, the characters were likable, fun, relatable and they had amazing chemistry.
Hunter and Madison were great together, I liked how their relationship developed. After everything Madison had been through with her low life baby daddy it was heartwarming seeing her find happiness and stability in a caring, supportive & loving man like Hunter, he was such a great guy.
Overall this was a quick, entertaining, and hot read that left me feeling full of happy feels.
I'm really enjoying the Love Emergency series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them =)
Not a badly written book, it is sweet and nice, but at the same time not particularly memorable.
I didn't roll my eyes and I didn't find anything particularly annoying, there is even no reason for me to dislike the book, overall a Meh kind of book.
I remained unconvinced of the relationship between the hero and heroine. I don't see their attraction apart from appreciating each other's physical attributes. The conflict at the end felt forced and the 'violent' scene seem a little ridiculous to me, however they are really minor issues...
EMERGENCY DELIVERY BY SAMANTHE BECK
★☆☆☆☆ (1 star)
________________________________
❌ After reading and thoroughly enjoying the first book in the series, I couldn't wait to read Hunter's story! I liked him in the first book and when we met Madison towards the end of the previous novel, I thought how fun it would be if they ended up together. So imagine my excitement when I read the blurb. I had high expectations for this book. Maybe because of this, maybe not, but Emergency Delivery was a big disappointment for me.
Samanthe Beck is one of my favorite authors when it comes to adult contemporary romance. After reading every single book of hers, she has a solid place among my auto-buy authors. So I'm so sad that I couldn't enjoy a single moment in this book. It was way too predictable and most of the time I found the characters' actions stupid.
Hunter's hero complex was over the top, and it was too unbelievable. I didn't like Madison either. She should have been stronger and not let everybody make all the decisions for her.
The romance made me cringe! I skipped the sex scenes, they were just too weird to read after I felt zero connection between the characters. I know, I can't believe it either!!! This author writes romantic scenes like a pro, so I can't imagine what went wrong here that I couldn't feel the chemistry.
✔ The only thing I somehow liked where the few moments with Beau who we met in the first book. I missed him and it was great to see him again.
I've been thinking a lot about how to rate this book. I wish I could give it at least two stars, but in goodreads' rating it would mean that "it was okay", but sadly this book was far from okay.
"Consider this a Code 3 emergency.." Basically the code needed to read this series, this book.
A suggestion about this book is read the first book, " Emergency Engagement ". How this book starts comes from the previous story, and you won't fully appreciate the characters involved if you skip a book. Does this mean this book cannot be read as a standalone? It can, absolutely. But the story just won't tug at your readers heart, the way it's supposed to.
Emergency Delivery, absolutely LOVED it. Hunter and Madison's chemistry is a fresh view of what most would call "hero complex". This is because, when you get to the core of this story, who saves who is really up for debate.
I love that Ms. Beck never fails to add realism to her stories, in the case of Madison, the concerns and fears of a new mother adjusting to a new lifestyle are very well detailed and felt. Those questions you ask yourself as you read are all described with what Madison is feeling. Honestly, I love a story when the characters grow from their fears as well as what they are experiencing. Regardless of the fictional status, I felt so connected with Madison. Hunter, well, I want a Hunter in my life. The man is the definition of both friend, lover, hero. Seriously, this series is just filled with characters you'll love, hate, and want in your real life as friends.
As for the most important question, do I recommend this book to a fellow romance reader? Let's see, I am writing this review at 1:45 in the morning because I couldn't put the book down, and I couldn't wait to share with others just how much I love this series, this book, and the AWESOME feeling Hunter and Madison left me with when I read the last two words: The End
Eigentlich weiß ich es ja selber: Das wird nichts.
Das Cover, der Klappentext - alles schreit nach "Lass es, Astrid", aber dann kriegt man es kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt und denkt sich, dass einfache Literatur auch mal ganz angenehm ist. Man kann seinen Kopf frei machen und das Buch schnell durchlesen. Angenehme Abendunterhaltung - denkste!
Vorne weg: Man kann das Buch schnell lesen. Ich habe gerade mal drei Stunden für das ganze Werk von Frau Beck gebraucht. Sie ist also nicht frei von jedem Talent, rein vom Schreiben her schafft sie es einen bei der Stange zu halten.
Jedoch überzeugt sie weniger durch die Geschichte oder die Charaktere. Es ist SO unrealistisch, dass man zwischendurch nur noch mit den Augen rollen kann. Sex ein Monat nach Horror-Entbindung, bei einem fremden Mann einziehen oder cracksüchtige Exfreunde vermöbeln: alles ist möglich. Selbst die Sexpassagen sind so drüber, dass man maximal laut lachen kann.
Irgendwann lerne ich daraus...
I loved this book! It was fun, sexy, charming, and as usual with a Samanthe Beck book, the characters totally stole my heart. Thinking about how Hunter and Madison first meet, and then getting a glimpse years later, is all kinds of awesome. (What a "how my parents met" story!) Everything in between is fantastic, too, and the book kept me up waaaay past my bedtime!
Pin the Tail on the Romance time! My TBR list is at an out of control 415 ouf ot 1436 books, so I spun the magic random number generator app to get book #144: Emergency Delivery by Samanthe Beck
Is It Part of A Series: Love Emergency (#2)
Rating: I am a secret fan of stories where the guy falls for a pregnant woman or a new mom but the baby isn't his. If it is well done, that kind of story can be magical. Hunter had all the makings for that unicorn of an amazing insta-dad: he was devoted, patient, and gorgeous. But good grief, Madison whined and argued and pouted every step of his way. Her immaturity drove me bonkers, as did the weird storyline about Hunter's supervisor giving him a hard time about being too caring to be a good medical student.
Clark Kent move over. There’s a new superman in town and his name is Hunter Knox. Current paramedic, future potential doctor, he’s handsome, caring, compassionate, and can’t say no to helping others in distress. Especially, beautiful down on their luck new mommies like Madison Foley who’ve had the proverbial rug pulled out from under them. Fate, destiny, or just plain dumb luck seems to keep putting Madison in his path.
The author’s writing style flows seamlessly across the pages and the natural fit/chemistry of this couple is believable and keeps you engaged. The opening scene of the birth of Madison’s baby was tastefully and realistically done with just the right amount of humorous banter to offset the seriousness of the situation. It certainly made for a memorable first meeting of the main couple.
I must say I figured out the baby daddy/ex-boyfriend’s next move well before he re-entered the picture. Mostly likely as a result of Madison’s accurate prediction/comments of where his future was headed.
It does take the story some time to unfold and come to a conclusion, since the majority of time is spent on the couple bonding at the same time they are conflicted over Madison’s eventual departure. Some readers may even complain it could have wrapped up sooner. I, for one, enjoyed every minute of seeing our handsome, good guy hero going above and beyond the call of duty and doing everything in his manly power to be there for Madison and her baby. Here’s to hoping you’ll feel the same.
Amazing
Madison met Hunter under unconventional circumstances. They immediately shared a bond after Hunter helped Madison deliver her baby. As I continued to read their story I fell more in love with Hunter; kind of hard not to since he is such an amazing guy. It makes me want my own paramedic. A must read!
Madison hat ein riesiges Problem. Sie liegt in den Wehen ihres ersten Kindes. Eigentlich eine gute Sache, weniger gut ist, dass sie dies auf der Rückbank ihres Wagens durchstehen muss, der gerade in einen Unfall verwickelt war. Zum Glück kommt ihr Sanitäter Hunter zur Hilfe, der das kleine Mädchen gesund auf die Welt bringt. Ein turbulenter Start ins Leben, der nicht ruhiger wird, denn Mutter und Kind haben gerade kein Dach über dem Kopf und so bietet Hunter seine Hilfe an.
Der Klappentext hat mich so neugierig auf das Buch gemacht, da das Kennenlernen der beiden so extrem ist und die Voraussetzungen für ihre Beziehung einmal ganz anders als alles bisher dagewesene.
Das dies der zweite Teil einer Reihe ist, ist mir nicht negativ aufgefallen. Ich kenne den ersten Band nämlich nicht, er handelt auch von anderen Protagonisten, daher kann man das Ebook auch getrost als Einzelband lesen.
Der Einstieg in die Geschichte ist toll gewählt. Die Geburtsszene ist sehr intensiv und gefühlvoll. Bei mir ist direkt das Kopfkino angesprungen und ich konnte sehr gut mit Hunter und Madison mitfühlen. Die Handlung nimmt dann ihren Lauf und Hunter nimmt die beiden Mädchen in sein Leben auf. Hunter ist ein erstaunlicher Protagonist. Er nimmt sich direkt dem Baby an und erledigt viele Pflichten und das obwohl die kleine Joy natürlich nicht von ihm ist. Die Bindung der beiden hat mir richtig gut gefallen. Die Autorin hat dies auch sehr gut erzählen können.
Madison ist eine sympathische Protagonistin, die alles für ihre Tochter tun würde, allerdings mit der Situation zu deren Vater zu kämpfen hat. Eigentlich will sie Hunter nicht auf der Tasche liegen und sein Haus schnellstmöglich verlassen, doch gleichzeitig weiß sie auch um die Gefühle für ihn. Alles fühlt sich schon fast zu perfekt an.
Die Handlung der Geschichte dreht sich um diesen Konflikt. Mir war dies liebestechnisch zu wenig. Hunter und Madison haben nicht so viele Momente in denen sie sich verlieben konnten, daher war der Augenblick, als die Gefühle da waren für mich nicht überzeugend.
Auf zwischenmenschlicher Ebene haben die Protagonisten absolut überzeugen, aber ihre Liebesgeschichte konnte mich nicht komplett mitreißen.
Dafür gefiel mir der Epilog, welcher ein paar Jahre später spielt richtig gut, da er ihre Geschichte perfekt abrunden konnte.
"Love Emergency-zufällig verliebt" ist eine zuckersüße und außergewöhnliche Geschichte. Eine leichte und bezaubernde Lektüre für Zwischendurch.
It's not too often that the meet-cute in a romance happens when the heroine is in labour, but that's the case here in the second story of author Samanthe Beck's Love Emergency series, centered on a group of dedicated paramedics. It's Hunter's turn here, a secondary character in the first book of the series (Emergency Engagement, which was a fun, sexy, and emotional story released earlier this year about two neighbours and a fake engagement). He and his partner Beau are working when they get the call to attend to a roadside crash - complete with a beautiful, single young woman who has gone into premature labour due to the accident. Delivering baby Joy is all in a day's work for Hunter, but something about Madison sticks with him, and after he's released his charges to the hospital, he can't help but stop by later to see how she's doing, only to discover she's already been discharged. When a month later, a clearly exhausted and ill Madison ends up in the hospital again with Joy, Hunter is determined not to abandon her a second time, despite the warnings from his boss that his tendency to go above and beyond borders on having a saviour-complex which could jeopardize his application to med school. With no friends or family to help her, and an ex-boyfriend with addiction issues always looking for money, Madison reluctantly but gratefully accepts Hunter's help, moving into his house while she tries to regain her health and save some of her maternity benefits from her coffee shop job towards a better place for her and Joy. When things between them heat up, it's easy to slip from friends into lovers. But will Hunter's plans to go to med school and Madison's desire to prove that she can make it on her own mean a future together is out of the cards?
I loved this story! I'm a sucker for guys playing the hero, especially when it comes to women in dire straights. But just because Madison is having a tough time of it now, doesn't mean she's a pushover. She's down on her luck is all, and while she's desperately trying to make it on her own, any woman who's had a baby knows how hard it can be without any help. It's no surprise that Madison ends up anemic and in the hospital with her newborn baby, seeing as she's exhausted, malnourished, and spending all her energy caring for Joy. I liked Madison's character a lot, knowing that she's fighting for the best chance for her and her daughter, even though she seems to be losing that battle at first. She accepts Hunter's help because she knows it's the right thing to do for her and the baby, though gradually her feelings for him become deeper than just friendship and gratitude.
Hunter is the proverbial hero indeed. First he helps deliver Madison's baby, then he's her would-be rescuer when she's got nowhere else to turn, offering a room in his home while she regains her health and gets back on her feet. It's true that it goes beyond his job as a paramedic, and it's also true that Hunter has a bit of a saviour complex, the need to provide assurance to his patients, and himself that all will be well. But in this case, it makes him a swoony romantic hero indeed! Taking in Madison and her baby, buying her the things she needs, caring for them both - who wouldn't fall in love with someone like that. (Of course, the fact that he's a handsome, sexy guy doesn't hurt either). Hunter is wonderful with the baby too, taking the place of her absentee father complete with middle of the night rocking and diaper changes. The attraction between Hunter and Madison is no surprise, being both single, attractive and friendly people, but what I really appreciated was the care Hunter took with Madison, being a new mother. There is no slam, bam, thank you ma'am happening her, just thoughtful, careful and sexy scenes as they connect on an intimate level when Madison's doctor gives her the a-okay.
The conflict is two-fold. There's the problem with Madison's ex and his addictions resulting in some bad decisions on his part, decisions that affect Madison and her safety. So we do get a bit of action and suspense in the story. The other conflict is their plans for the future - while Madison is grateful to Hunter, she doesn't want to be his charity case and questions whether his apparent feelings for her are real. And Hunter knows that if he gets into med school it's going to mean long hours and intense studying with no time for distractions. It's up to both of them to decide whether moving forward into a committed relationship is compatible with their desires for the future. It's a sexy, and sweet love story. 4.5 stars
**4.5 Stars**
You know how they say first impressions are important? Hunter gets to know, and see, Madison a lot upon making her acquaintance. Get your minds out of the gutter people. LOL Madison, a pregnant Madison, has just been involved in a car accident and guess what that triggered...yeah, this baby is ready to meet his/her Mom. Hunter, a paramedic, and his partner, Beau, are on duty. Thankfully, Hunter is able to build up a rapport with Madison and help keep her somewhat calm, despite the extenuating circumstances and the fact she literally has to bare herself to a stranger.
Madison is now a single mother and hoping the baby, Joy's, Dad stays away as he'd quickly spiraled downward when they were together.
One month later Madison and Joy are back at the hospital as Madison is having some health issues, albeit thankfully treatable ones. But, once Beau let's Hunter know she's back under medical care, Hunter wastes no time getting there to check on her. He also can't resist, after finding out she has no family besides Joy, offering to take her home and upon seeing her home is a questionable hotel, offers his spare room as an alternative.
As the days go by, Hunter is quickly becoming attached to Madison and Joy, and he knows Madison needs the help. She's overwhelmed, personally, financially, and health wise. Even though things are going great for her and Hunter on a personal level, Madison mistakenly determined not to overstay her welcome, works on finding a new place for herself and Joy. Then there's the added stress of her ex, Joy's Dad, reappearing in their lives.
Will Hunter and Madison ever realize they're on the same wavelength in regards to their relationship? Will Hunter get into medical school? Will Cody have a place in Joy's life or does he have ulterior motives? Will Hunter, Madison, and Joy get their HEA? As Hunter told Madison when they first met..."You have to have faith in happy endings."
One-click this book now and prepare for an enjoyable read. This was a cute story of two people who meet in extreme circumstances, two people who had both lost their way, at different points in their lives, and they're determined to take the correct path this time, but they both realize they may not have to do that alone. I do recommend reading book one first as it introduces numerous characters that reappear in this book and it also has the first meeting of Hunter and Madison. This book does revisit that meeting though with a more in depth look.
On a side note, and this is my personal preference, while I know they weren't together and had in fact just met, and it was New Year's Eve, I really could've done without knowing after visiting Madison and Joy once his shift ended, he attended a co-worker's party, danced with a few women  and "shared a kiss at midnight with a sexy ginger." I don't feel that part was really needed. I do understand his mental thinking as it was a way to show his interest about them had been appeased by checking on them and those acts at the party show he was "moving forward," but it could've been conveyed a different way. I do not like reading or being told about the hero or heroine with anyone else, whether they're together yet or not. They've met, the story is about them and only them, and that's what I want to read about, no one else being, even if it's only a kiss, with someone else. I would like to say that while it was established in book one, Emergency Engagement, that Hunter was popular with the ladies, and there were a few mentions here to reiterate that fact, I can say, thankfully, that they were few and far between. Phew. Thank you for that.
This is book 2 of the "Love Emergency" series and can be easily read as a standalone. I actually read this book 1st and then hopped back to book 1. The opening of this book overlaps on New Year's Eve with the ending of Savannah/Beau's story. Since I read them out of order, I liked that I went back to book 1 and realized there was a whole lot going on in Beau's brain while he and Hunter were helping Madison deliver her baby on the side of the interstate.
I liked the first book, Emergency Engagement, but this one didn't click with me the same way. The internal dialogue didn't move along as well and I found myself skimming a lot. I didn't always love Hunter. We're told he's quite the ladies man (book 1 mentions it as well), but we never see any of it. In fact, when it was mentioned, I was always surprised because I never got that impression. Since I did read this book before book 1, it felt like Hunter's relationship with his supervisor, Alyssa(?), was a lot different. Book 1 seems like they pick on each other, but it's all in good fun. I almost would have thought she was going to be the heroine. In this she seems to be singling him out. Obviously, it's the idea that drives the book, but she judges him that he's too involved and making promises he can't keep on the job that makes it about his ego and hero complex (i.e. I won't let anything happen to you, or I won't let you die kind of stuff). She won't write a reference letter for him to get into medical school because of this and that rubbed me the wrong way as a little too much.
The last half of the book about Madison and her ex quickly got my attention again and I found myself back into the plot. I liked how Hunter cared for Madison and Joy and they had great chemistry. Although I enjoyed the first book a lot more, this was still a good story and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series (Savannah's sister, Sinclair, please?!).
3.5
My Review:
This was a really cute book. Madison and Hunter meet on the side of the highway as she's about to give birth to her baby. He's an EMT working at getting into medical school. She's a hot mess. But there's so much more to both their stories and that made me fall in love with both of them.
When Hunter was 19, he screwed up his life over a woman and a baby. Now, ten years later, he's working to fix all that. But Madison definitely throws a wrench into the works. Because she needs help, and he's a natural-born saver. He can't walk away from a woman in need...even though he can see that he's sinking into that rabbit hole he was in ten years before.
There are so many sweet little moments in time throughout this book, but some of the best were with Hunter and the baby girl. My heart simply melted over and over again. So I could totally get why Madison was having issues with self-control around him. And she knows that she's bad for him. He has his own life. He should not be saddled with having to take care of her and her daughter.
I loved the two of them together. I loved how much Madison was drawn to him, while she feels like every other new mom out there...overwhelmed and frumpy. I adored that Hunter didn't see her that way at all.
There is some amazing dialogue in this book that starts up right away in Madison's car on the side of the highway. I couldn't tell you how many times I laughed out loud over the discussions between the two of them. It made for simply great, fun reading.
Simply put...I enjoyed the book. It's been a great series and I've loved both Hunter and Beau's stories...hot paramedics? It doesn't get much better.
Hunter, bless your heart. You are so sweet. If y'all loved Beau, you will LOVE Hunter.
Hunter and Madison had an unconventional meeting, to say the least. She was way down on her luck, and he had a hero complex. Match made in heaven, right? But they were, and I loved both characters, and sweet baby Joy, too.
They both were stubborn, headstrong characters, who had their own ways of dealing with their issues. Sometimes successfully, sometimes, not so much. But they complemented each other in such a beautiful way.
It was nice getting to catch up a bit with Beau and Savannah (I wish it had been a little more!) Madison's ex was a piece of work and you just wanted to reach thru the book and knock him right out. Ew. And Ashley really made me angry at times too. But, to me, that's the sign of a great writer. Make me love, or hate, a character, and I'm sold.
Overall this book was a great addition to this sweet series and I can't wait to read more! Being from the Atlanta area makes this even more fun for me to read. I love when I recognize the setting! Also, the time jump in the epilogue makes me curious about the next story. Did Sinclair's story need a little time on it before she was ready?! I hope to find out soon!
OMG! Every woman needs a Hunter Knox in their life!! He's sexy, passionate, dedicated and has a heart so big it makes you cry.
Paramedic Hunter Knox can't help it. Helping people isn't just what he does, it's part of who he is. His real goal though is getting into medical school and becoming a doctor. He can't let anything distract him - this time!!
If it wasn't for bad luck it would seem that Madison Foley had no luck at all. Her ex not only ran off when he found out Madison was pregnant, he came back and robbed her of everything she had worked so hard to save. She's determined to make it on her own though. She has to. Not only for herself but for her baby as well.
You absolutely want to treat yourself to this great read! It's not quite as sizzling as some of Samanthe Beck's books but it has plenty of sexy times. The slow build of the relationship between Hunter and Madison is wonderful and their story will completely entertain you.
How Can You Not Love This Book?
Samanthe Beck does it again. This was a fun, quirky, and smart read. We first met Madison when Hunter helped her deliver her daughter Joy in the middle of a freeway. (A paramedic's job is never done.) There was something about Madison that made Hunter want to help her. After he hears that Madison lands back in the hospital and is down in her luck, he decides to take her in.
The banter between all of the characters made reading this story fun to read. I liked that the relationship between Hunter and Madison developed at a slow and steady pace. I did a little fist pump when Madison would made the first move for me, it made the story more believable.
If you're looking for a story with great banter and fun to read, look no further than Emergency Delivery.
Funny, sexy with lots of depth. Beck is amazing, I just LOVE her books! I almost get a panic attack whenever I realise that I'm almost done with her backlist. I very seldom reread books, but I will resort to that strategy (and enjoy it immensely, I'm sure) when my stash is all gone. The heroine is vulnerable: she has just had a baby and is fresh from a toxic relationship. Hunter is a paramedic and delivers her baby, then takes them into his home - because he is the rescuing type. I love the fact that this characteristic is both his greatest strength and flaw. The plot has been done many times in romances: when done well, it is so very emotionally satisfying, yet can easily become stale. Beck gave it a fresh twist with her wonderful humour and character depth. I'll read this author's grocery lists, her writing is delightful. She rocks the genre!
Do you like hot guys in uniform? Hunter could charm the panties off a corpse. That sounds gross and weird, but totally true. He is so damn sweet and sexy and swoon-worthy. I literally couldn't even write this review right after I read it because of my book hangover.
Oh Samanthe.... her books are just perfection. I can't even do her books justice with my reviews, so I'm just going to leave it at this...
READ THIS NOW! I give you my personal guarantee that you will love it.
