Some promises are made to be broken. And others start out that way.

Promise Henderson knows all about being broken. She’s a down-on-her-luck former foster kid who needs to figure out how to get her brother into her custody before the State of Ohio ruins his life forever.

Enter Beckett Fitzgerald. A SEAL with a scarred face, a bad sense of humor and no place to call home. He has another asset though. A big one.

For ten years he’s tried to forget the little girl with snow white hair and an angel's eyes, but when fate throws her into his path once again, his obsession turns possessive and sparks fly.

Only, Promise has a Judas by her side vying for her heart and Beckett needs to reveal the truth before he loses her forever. Debts of the past come calling and Beckett shows her just how far he’s willing to go to protect what is his.

This full length novel has an over the top alpha hero, a curvy girl and some very saucy, sexy times. Beckett and Promise get their happily ever after, but their story will continue. So if you like a romance with a heaping helping of HOT, step inside, it's steamy.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve made up stories. I would lay in my bed at night and before I knew what a trope was, I would make up these trope filled stories. Boy sees girl, boys falls for girl, boy saves girl….happily ever after. As I got older, the stories turned steamier and more intricate, but the basics never changed.

Now, my books are still full of romance but the naughty bits are naughtier, my hero’s are obsessed alpha types and my heroines are quirky, real women who come in all shapes and sizes.

So, sit back, banish the real world and get lost in some over the top romance with a heaping helping of hot. xoxoxo

Loved Beckett.. He's what kept me reading. I had some timeline issues.. And some characters didn't work for me... Need to know what will happen but really hope the drama calms down.. Too much drama really takes away from the love story..

one thing I hated was the repetition of thoughts of Beckett's past with women. it was supposed to show that he hadn't ever felt this strong before but in the emotional moment of making love you don't want his thoughts of how he used to be with other women taking you out of the moment like ice cold water. some thoughts were downright disgusting. Also not technically safe as far as meeting and being with others afterwards. She was a child when he first saw her. so no attraction besides being drawn to want to protect her. I don't like that he said he waited for her when he didn't.. that he had always loved her but he was with others anyway. The only defense was he didn't know her in a romantic sense.. It was just strange that he said he waited.
Current story was safe tho.

DNF @ 3%... Ok first 3 pages he's fucking another women! I can't handle that shit...

The other short novella from this author was sooo awesome, and yea maybe I could skip the beginning of this book and read on, but I already feel like my opinion the this character is tainted.

Promise by Dani Wyatt was a kind of confusing book.

And I guess I am the odd one out here. I did just take a look at other reviews before writing mine which I rarely do, to not get into quoting other reviews. But since I found no indication on the book blurb itself – I checked the reviews that I saw but there is also no reference in them – so I am just going to put it out there …

Is there a second book ? Am I the only one having a #cliffhanger-kind-of-feeling ???

Not going into more details but it is something I do not like at all. I always want to know if I will be reading a standalone or not (you can thank Sylvia Day for that problem but she really messed me up when it comes to this)

I went into reading the book very open minded as I never read anything by this author before. And I liked her plot idea a lot. But during the actual story development there were a lot of additional side stories woven into the original that I felt were overdone.

They were distracting the whole plot. Actually they were also turning it into something more of a thriller kind of book. Which is not my genre anymore (I used to read it a lot).

The characters - Promise and Beckett - were developed with an interesting background and described well. But I had a problem into placing them together as a couple – again probably my bad.

It wasn’t a bad book by all means, the writing is actually pretty good – It was just that for ME there were to many layers within this story and with my problem in connecting the leads it did not work out for me that well.

On the other hand I assume this book will appeal to readers that like a more “thriller-related” approach in their romance novels – so enjoy.

So I adored this book.. A lot!
Firstly, the characters were imperfectly perfect. I absolutely loved that Beckett and Promise were both the reason- for each other's downfall as well as rise from ashes. They completed each other and few of their scenes gave me butterflies.
The book also had dark themes and angst which I liked. I would have loved more groveling towards the end, but since both have suffered so much I decided to let it go.
However this does end in a cliffy and has past and almost trigger mentions.
It's my first book by DW, and I really enjoyed it. Off to Cherish now.
Safe read.

This is my first Dani Wyatt book and I enjoyed it. As soon as I read the blurb, I knew I wanted to read it. Broken soul? Check. Broken childhood? Check. A potential chance to come out happy? Check.

Promise Henderson comes from a very broken childhood and is doing everything she can to make a life for herself. A quiet, in the background life. As it seems, fate brings Beckett Fitzgerald into her life and he is anything but quiet. Their story is rough and turbulent but also hopeful.

My favorite part about this book is how “flawed” Beckett is. He’s rough around the edges and has a scared face that either people are instantly attracted to or can’t stop staring at. However, there’s just something about him that Promise can’t keep away from.

“The softness in his voice is startling. He is a monster in his size, and his presence feels like a Secret Service Agent on hight alert, but there are still soft edges about him like we know each other. It makes me both drawn to him and ready to shoot out the door like a bolt of lightening.”

The softness in his voice extends to a softness in his heart. All he wants is to make Promise his. Unfortunately, their childhoods come back and puts a threat to their relationship.

Promise may come off weak or fragile but there is a lot of fire left in her spirit. She just needs to find it. I enjoyed experiencing this journey with her. There’s nothing like a broken soul fighting for their way back.

I will admit that this book started off very slow for me. I felt like the beginning was dragged on for what is supposed to be a very short amount of time. I realize that there were some back stories and other things that we needed to know in order to move forward but it felt like there was other unnecessary things that helped dragged it along.

Overall, I’m very happy I read this book. There are some pretty smoking scenes and Beckett’s alpha tendencies drew me in. I look forward to reading more from Dani Wyatt.

I was left totally emotionally drained.
Even after finishing "Promise" a couple of days ago. I was left deliberating the storyline.
Yes its a bit gritty, raw, heart wrenching and yet sexy ass hell to.
Beckett and Promise both had troubled childhood trauma and emotionally scared from their past.
They had met in the past. Then forward to the present day they meet up again. Yes they have attraction that no one could deny. Plus there are spoilers that I will not disclose. I just wasn't pleased by the ending.

FYI you will have an ugly cry!!

I received an ARC of this novel in return for an honest review.

I think this story went on way too long and it was a bit dark for me. I do like alpha males and insta-loves, but nothing this dark. And it ended on a cliffhanger.

Interesting story that wandered off into a hundred different directions by the last chapter and it leaves a nonsensical cliffhanger to boot.

Too many connections between our two MC's and their friends and family that don't make a lot of sense.

The romance was great until it wandered off into caveman speak which after 30 chapters of normal guy speak gets, well, kinda creepy. The dude has issues, and not in a good way. Our MC goes from wounded to plain weird.

Ditto for our main gal who suddenly decides to call her guy 'Daddy' after 30 chapters. It felt like a cheap shot to keep me hangin on.

So, since these two books came as a package deal I will endeavor to finish Cherish and call it a day. It's not going to be easy but I suppose it will be nice to tie up the giant loose ends that the author decided to throw in at the very end.

If it wasn't for the package deal, Cherish would be a no go.

Yeah, it was steamy, yeah it was romantic (in a twisted, intense, sordid sort of way), but also, it was a looong and twisted story with many obscure twists, dark details and really ugly unnecessary stuff.

Many side elements to the story were completely non important and could have been struck out, other seemingly important details were not explored so maybe there was nothing to it, or maybe they will play a part in the following book (I don´t know yet).

The hot and steamy love story was ok, insta-love besides, but it felt as if it had no dramatic arc to it.
In my personal opinion, I don´t like it when the hero keeps promising he will protect the heroine, and/or never abandon her, and then at the fist opportunity they do, what is that? noooo, that does not an alpha-hero make, that would be a common jerk.

This is an emotional romantic read. There is betrayal, assault, manipulation, stalking, and sexy hawt loving.
Two kids in the foster system: They meet, but don’t meet. They see each other and Beck knows she is important, only he can’t help her. Promise, has been treated like she is invisible, unless someone feels the need to torment and embarrass her.
Both abandoned and left to the system. Beck is getting out and Promise is going in. Years later they see each other again. Beck recognizes her, she doesn’t recognize him.
I loved reading this story, it started out sort of slow, but the buildup increased, with everything that was happening and made the story, so awesome. That is until the cliffhanger.

Even thought this book was sometimes frustrating with all those unspoken stuff, I truly enjoyed it. Promise and Beck had an amazing chemistry, and the sex scene were simply hot.
But the cliffhanger stole my breath away—I had not expected that to happen, so of course I immediately had to pick up Cherish.

Ist doch logisch, dass da "the shit going to hit the fan"...

5 FRIGGIN' "KUNG-FU PANDA" STARS???

Get ready, because OMG!!! WTF OMG!!! WTF OMG!!! ARE 5 FRIGGIN' STARS EVEN ENOUGH??? Def a new favorite for me & yes it's part of a series & yes it ends on a cliffhanger. But, man what a Book! Dani Wyatt has become a One-Click Author from this 1st read from me!

The sex is off the charts amazing! The chemistry is of the volcanic nature. The Alpha Dom that Beck shows around Promise turned me into goo & was to die for. The suspense, when you thought one thing was gonna happen & something else happened instead immediately turned me into her newest & biggest fan! Damn, that book was seriously good. If RL wouldn't have been insistent there is no way I would have put this book down. Here's another thing, this author actually knows how to introspection! Oh, how I have waited for that one! It is what I would call in the moment introspective thoughts, where you are in their heads but still in the moment. Still another thing, this author gave me the perfect amount of info to make me want more details but not infuriate me. In my honest opinion, make way for the Ms. Wyatt, the newest queen, to accomplish great things in fiction.

The only & I mean Only downside is no information on when her next book will be out. I will be keeping the eye out on that one! Thank you so much for this wonderful amazing read Ms. Wyatt. You are my hero. Now GIVE ME BOOK #2!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"This book is dedicated to the misfits; the beautifully flawed and the gloriously different. May you never aspire to fit in."

I LOVED that this book focuses on two main characters that may be seen as "flawed", not fitting into society's views of what they consider normal.

Promise has been through a lot and just wants custody of her brother so they can rebuild their lives.

Beckett has been through a lot too and has the scars on half his face and a neck tick to prove it.

Both Promise and Beckett become infatuated with each other with pasts that are heavily entwined, some of which they had no idea how long the string actually extends. Their passion for each other is hot and heavy as you could expect...

"She tastes like the fury of winter and the lust of spring."

However while the sex scenes dominated the book, outside of the bedroom, the couple seemed to be awkward together with Promise falling into the helpless victim role needing a male to help her out of the situations she is in.

This woman has gone through hell and back in her life and yet can't stand up to a single male? I just didn't like that part.

Read if you want a steamy romance with some complicated back stories but be aware of the plot twists that come out of nowhere and the 'little girl syndrome' that sometimes comes across.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, grief, and heartbreak.

This is Promise and Beckett’s story. These two oh so broken people come together in a unique way. They met when they were younger but never thought they would see each other again. He is trying to take care of his father even though he does not want his help. Promise works at the place his father is staying at. Can these two connect over an angry man that really does not want to be bothered with people. What happens when the person they have in common is gone? Will it rip them apart? There are other people that want them apart will they get there way? Or will these two overcome everything in other to get everything they want? What happens when someone still wants what they have?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Wow...what a cliffhanger?!?! That ending has me all kinds of confused. lol I can't wait till the next book to find out what exactly is going on with Jeremy, Jordan, and Louis.

Promise and Beck definitely had horrible things happen to them in the past and it was interesting how much their lives and past mistakes were intertwined with out either of them knowing. Beck was definitely a beast in the bedroom and liked his control. I really liked Promise and felt like she deserved so much more than she got. I liked her with Beck but even he deserved a kick in the nuts at one point. lol

The only problem I had, and it was a small one, was that the story seemed a little too wordy for me and I found myself skimming over some parts because of it. But that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story or from looking forward to the next book.

ARC provided by Ardent PRose for honest review.

This is the second book I have read from Dani Wyatt, and I am still not quite a fan of hers. I did finish this book unlike the last book I read by her that I couldn’t even get half way through.

I thought that this book was OK. The one thing that drove me crazy during this story was how Beckett's POV was all about how he couldn’t believe how he was falling for Promise. It seemed like that was thought at least twice a chapter. It just seemed redundant. The story itself was a great concept, but again, I just felt like there was a lot of unnecessary mumblings in the book.

While this book didn’t blow my skirt up, I do plan on reading the next book as this one does leave off on a cliffhanger.

Promise by Dani Wyatt is one hell of a roller coaster ride! Which does end with a cliffhanger, but not how one would expect. And that's all I will say ;-)

Promise and Beck both come from rough childhoods and unfortunately, the past doesn't stay in the past. Promise and Beck have both made huge strides in their lives but there's still the past that haunts them.

I truly related to this book because Promise has some things that have happened to her that have totally shaped her and how she interacts and views things. Beck seems to have done a better job letting the past go but will still get wrapped up in it. Promise and Beck are truly great, complex characters and I can't wait for more of the story!

Do you know what it's like when a book is so intense and you are right at the most dramatic part and your husband is yelling at you from the other room for you to help him but you can't stop reading!!
This book is slow to start because of the back story but so intense all the way to the end. The plot twists and turns make this story impossible to put down. When you think you have the story figured out, something changes to keep you on edge. That ending is just mind blowing. Beck and Promise are both messed up from their pasts but a survivors from those circumstances. Together they are unbelievably sexy. This book is an ignore the world around you read.

OHMYGOD??

I am just going to say I loved Beck to death. My heart hurt so much for him and Promise. Such poor souls suffering so much. Dani writes her Alphas like no other. They are possessive, protective and so endearing. And yes the ending was shocking but I am so excited for the next book. <3 ~Sonal

Huh?

The timeline of this book makes absolutely no sense and honestly ruins the entire story because it makes events that supposedly occurred impossible. Sorry. Never experienced this with this author and I usually love her books. This one though, very disappointing especially because it’s so long and drawn out. Then finishing it off where boy leaves girl and then she forgives with a quick I’m sorry. Uhhhhgg. No thanks.
