Alice Joyce Davidson, a poet, writer, and editor, is the creator of the Alice in Bibleland series and author of numerous Christian-themed children's titles. Her books have sold over five million copies worldwide and have been translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese, Finnish, Korean, and Indonesian. A proud grandmother of two, Alice lives in Cincinnati, OH, where she is active in the arts.
I'm an atheist, so I can't speak to the 'accuracy' of this story. But the presentation is, imo, blech.
There is no real story. Alice is just an overly cute blond & perfect little girl with white stockings and patent Mary Janes... who lives on a farm. The story ends on the 'seventh day' and doesn't address the Fall at all, which would have made it at least a little interesting. I cannot imagine a healthy child enjoying this, no matter how devout the family. (Unless it's just about the only book the child ever is allowed to see?)
This was my favorite book series as a kid. I read it to my 3-year-old nephew the other day and he...kind of liked it? He was fighting sleep so it was hard to tell. The illustrations are done in a classic style and the retelling of the Biblical creation story is told through poetry. It has a bit of a fantasy feel to the series because Alice isn't just reading the stories, she's experiencing them by walking through a storybook into the past.
The Creation story told from a little girl’s perspective as she enters into Bible Land through her storybook Bible. Everything is written in rhyming verse. Great for older toddlers to kinder
My children love ryme and alliteration. Alice in Bible Land keeps them amused like Dr. Suess does, while teaching them Bible stories that I want them to know.
