I Love You, Mommy is a lovely story about a little bear who gets a helping hand from his Mom. This adorable book is written by Jillian Harker and illustrated by Kristina Stephenson.

I received this book as a Christmas present by my son (21 years old). He saw it, thought about me, and bought it for me as a souvenir from the Netherlands. It has been such a kind and sweet thought! Of course I received also two more "serious" books by him for Christmas.
The book is in Dutch and though I don't know this language, I managed to read and translate it. Knowing both German and English it hasn't been difficult to read and understand Ik vind je lief, Mama. I've read it with my son and we had a lot of fun when I translated something wrong (by mistake or by purpose because of some funny assonances with Italian words). He speaks Dutch so he helped me when I wasn't able to understand a word. It has really been a nice, sweet and funny moment we had together.
The story is however very nice and should help children to listen more often to their more experienced mother. Something my son still doesn't do now at 21!

Such a cute book to read for babies and infants before they go to sleep. Baby Bear wants to do things that bears typically do, such as climbing the tree, plucking berries,..., but he doesn't know how to perfect what he does, so Mommy Bear has to jump in and show him. In the end, Baby Bear wants to say "I love you" to Mommy Bear, but dozes off to sleep before finishing the sentence :)) But Mommy Bear knows all that Baby Bear wants to tell her but can't say, because she loves him so much after all ^^

Text-to-Self Connection: How does the story connect to your personal experiences or background?
Obviously, I have read this book because I am also a mother. This book is special to me because it serves as a reminder of the type of mother I want to be. Patient, kind, observant, and a great listener. The mother bear in the story shows all of these traits and more. Although her cub often times is quick to react before thinking, she stays patient with him and allows him the opportunity to not only make mistakes, but to gently guide him so that he may do things successfully on his own. It is a beautiful and simple reminder on how to be a parent that loves first.

This is my favorite Little Bear book which is saying a lot. I love how the mother and child interact, and of course I adore that Little Bear actually ends up listening to his mother's wisdom in the end. Sigh. We can all dream!

Jillian Harker makes it seem easy to focus on the overall experiences of childhood instead of the potentially problematic outcomes. It's fun, warmly illustrated and great for toddlers with medium attention spans.

My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

Little Bear can be a bit impulsive, but Mommy Bear is infinitely patient. They learn and play together in this gorgeous picture book. The illustrations compliment the story perfectly and the text is simple and straightforward. There's a bit of repetition that helps the preK crowd predict and understand the story. A great addition to a mother or family themed story time, and beautifully rendered, this one is definitely recommended!

It's probably not fair to give a book extra points b/c it has a soft squishy cover, but oh well. This boardbook shows all the ways that the baby bear knows how much the mommy bear loves him. It's in the everyday little things. Simple. Sweet. Warm fuzzy.

This is an adorable story for ages 0-6. It is all about an impulsive baby bear who runs off to do whatever comes to mind. At first he doesn’t listen to mommy bear and something always goes wrong. At the end of the story he learns to listen to mommy.

Splash! Crash! Little Bear and Mommy Bear fish and climb together, but when Little Bear runs ahead and doesn't listen to her, he falls and falters (hm.. seems like a familiar premise). However, their love for each other grows.

May 13, 2020I have been learning some Spanish and found this through my online library media selection. It was listen and read, but I didn't find an English copy, so I'm suspending judgment till I either learn more Spanish or find an English copy so I can compare.

Little Bear rushes to try new things and fails, while Mommy Bear supports him and shows him the right way when he’s ready. It’s a reminder to be patient while my baby engages in “risky play”, to always be there when he falls, and ultimately the love between us.

Read this to my son when he was in nicu. It was a wonderful book, I just didnt like how towards the ending little bear fell asleep before you could tell mommy bear he loved her. Of course mommy bear knew it, but still I think it should’ve been included.

Little Bear is constantly trying new things without listening to advise from Mommy Bear first. When he gets in over his head, Mommy steps in and teaches him the needed skills. This lovely book is perfect for a child's early library. It would also make a great gift at Valentines's Day, because Mommy is a child's first valentine after all, or at Mother's Day so the child isn't left out when Mom gets her gifts. I gave this book to my grandson for Valentines's day last year, and my grandson still loves this book.

This story was about a little bear who kept trying to do things but always fell and his mommy had to show him how to do them. A child could enjoy reading this book if they have a special connection with their mommy.

I love, love, love, this cute story! And I am excited to read other bear books by J. Harker. When mommy bear teaches baby bear how to swim, fish, pick berries, and play nicely I really wanted to be doing that with my own cubs. A great happy book for mothers and children.

A sweet story about a little son and his love for his mother. It is a great story to have and maybe let childrens read it and use it to think about what they are going to write about their moms.

A sweet story about an excited little bear and his patient mommy. With each new skill he learns, he also learns that he loves his mommy more and more. My son asks for this story regularly.

Deze is iets leuker dan de 'papa' versie, maar het is nog steeds een beetje 'meh'. Ze zijn schattig, maar er zijn beter prentenboeken op de wereld. :)
