I’m not sure how long these are (maybe 80-100 pages each), but they’re just long enough to have a complete story, but short enough to squeeze into a busy day. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this anthology. Each book stayed pretty light and fun. I liked the setting and cowboy theme. I've read some of the authors before, but will be adding others to my watch list. This is a fun anthology and one I'd easily recommend!!
Cupcakes and Cowboys by Lindzee Armstrong So, this short story packs a lot in! We have jilted Cassidy trying to make her new bakery a success. Then we have Jase, a Hollywood heartthrob who is bored with his life and looking for something new. He ends up in Cassidy’s hometown researching his next movie role. These two definitely have sparks, he’s not used to a woman like Cassidy and is eager to figure her out. After getting her heartbroken she’s not looking for romance. While I would have loved an epilogue, it was still a fun escape and cute storyline. Kept me interested and invested in both Cassidy and Jase.
Content: Clean
Sixth Street Love Affair by Liz Isaacson Juliette has been in hiding for the past ten years. Not wanting her ex to find her she moves around frequently. Her latest stop has her wanting to finally wanting to settle down. The handsome cowboy Garth might have something to do with that. This was a fun read, had a sweet romance and a bit of suspense. I liked it, its one that would make a fun full-length novel, but was also great as a novella.
Content: Clean, mild violence
Ranch Hand for Auction by Kimberly Krey I really enjoyed this one! Ms. Krey can write some great chemistry between her characters. Meg was a likable heroine, she’s a talented artist and also has a love for the country life. She is also stuck in a dead end relationship and I was glad she finally opened her eyes, she deserved so much better! Jake was great, loved him from the start. Jake and Meg had fun chemistry! I thought this was a fun escape and it’s one I’d want to read again.
Content: Clean, mild language
Lights, Cowboys, Action by Cindi Madsen This was a pleasant surprise! While I enjoy the whole Hollywood trope, I sometimes end up wondering how things would actually work out. I thought Grady and Kaia had a fun story, they have the whole opposites-attract thing going for them and their HEA was pretty believable. I thought this was a fun novella and makes me want to check out more from Ms. Madsen.
Content: Pretty Clean, some passionate kissing and one closed door/fade to black love scene.
Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae Cute! So this one is a little different in that the H/h are newlyweds. We kind of miss out on all the fun getting to know you flirting stuff, but we do get a fun peek at a couple that has been married for a few months, but facing some big changes. I liked this one; Austin’s dad has passed away and left him the family ranch. Daisha is a city girl, but wants to help her husband’s dream of running the ranch a success. I liked that Austin didn’t look down on her for being so out of her element. I thought they had good chemistry and it was kind of nice reading a story about an established couple facing different challenges than a couple just meeting.
Content: Clean, one closed door love scene
Holden’s Heart by Kelli Ann Morgan This was my first book by Ms. Morgan, I’ll definitely be checking out more! I really enjoyed this one, thought it had a fun plot and setting. Olivia is a successful writer and has decided to start hosting a writers retreat for her fans at a ranch. Holden doesn’t want his ranch turned into a sideshow, but the moment he sets eyes on Olivia he has a change of heart. I did think the stalker angle was a little random and not necessary to the story (if it was a full-length novel it could have been developed more), I still really enjoyed this one though and thought it was a lot of fun.
Content: Clean, very mild violence
Chasing Kisses by Jolene Betty Perry This was another fun one. Chelsea is home for the summer and did not expect to start having feelings for her friend Bradley. She grew up with Bradley and has stayed friends, but always had a crush on his older brother Clayton. I like the whole friends to lovers trope and thought it was handled pretty well here. A fun read.
Content: Clean, mild language, mild innuendo-talk of people hooking up
I really enjoy anthologies because I always discover new authors to read.
I will say, I skimmed then skipped a few of these if I wasn't sold on the idea (so many books, too little time).
Cowboys and Cupcakes by Lindzee Armstrong: Cassidy was left at the altar while the guy chased his Hollywood dream. Two years later, she's on the mend when Jase, an A-list actor, comes to her parents ranch to prepare for an upcoming role. Really liked this!
Sixth Street Love Affair by Liz Isaacson: Juliette called things off with Garth months ago, and for the life of him, he can't figure out why. She has a hard time with trust after an abusive marriage. Some wording and set-up distracted me in this one, like it needed one more edit. Overall, a good story.
Ranch Hand for Auction by Kimberly Krey: Meg finds herself outbidding everyone for Jake, a ranch hand. Meg's, hmm kind of, in a relationship that everyone else can see will never go anywhere. She opens her eyes finally when she works with Jake. C h e m i s t r y - these two have it.
I ended up skipping Lights, Cowboy, Action.
Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae: Newleyweds Daisha and Austen inherit a ranch after Austen's dad dies. Daisha's a city girl trying to make it. Austen's feeling a little guilty for moving his new wife out to the country life when it's not what she signed up for when she married him. It's a really cute story seeing these two work things out and fall more in love.
I skipped Holden's Heart.
Chasing Kisses by Jolene Betty Perry: So cute! Chelsea moves to her dad's ranch the summer before graduate school. The two brothers she's known forever are still there, more grown up. This reminded me a little of Sabrina - one player brother who finally notices the girl who always crushed on him - but she's grown up too and finally realizes he's not what she wants afterall. I love Bradley, he's so sweet.
I enjoyed the stories I read and found several authors to look into more, which is a win for me. This is a good Western contemporary romance collection!
Her husband, Brad, abused her and she ran from him, left Montana. Using a fake identity and some fake papers, she flew away to another state, and ended up working as a veterinarian's assistant. Juli left everyone she loves behind and she changed her name to Juliette. She didn't count on falling in love with one of her ex-husband's friends. As soon as she found out he was a friend of her husband, she broke things off with Garth, afraid he might tell her ex where she is (if he discovered her identity). Garth can't understand why she broke things off so suddenly. He feels hurt and disappointed. He wants to know what happened and he wants her back in his life. But for her own safety she can't take that chance, can she? Juliette's boss's wife is expecting a baby any day and David, her boss, needs Juliette to help Garth out on his ranch following some trouble with coyotes and then pink-eye in a bull. Like it or not, it will be impossible for Juliette to avoid Garth now. Can she stop her heart from falling deeper in love with him? Could she take a chance and finally trust someone with the secrets of her past life? Or will she run again when Garth discovers who she really is? Brad swore if Juli ever left him, he would kill her. It's time for Juliette to run away again... Will Garth try and stop her? Will Juliette's nightmare ever end? I loved this story. It was written in a sensitive, mature way. It got my attention right from the start and kept it the whole way through. Garth was a wonderful character, so caring, so kind, so protective. Juliette was a sweet, strong woman. The storyline felt so real. I love a good cowboy story and this one didn't disappoint! The romance was hot and clean. I liked the Christian references as well, without the preachiness attached. I highly recommend Sixth Street Love Affair. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I did not receive any compensation and all opinions are my own.
Curl Up With a Cowboy -
Ranch Hand For Auction- Kimberly Krey - An Enthusiastic 5 stars and 2 thumbs Up!!
Oh, I love this author!! I was so excited to see she had a new story out! Ranch Hand For Auction sure didn't disappoint! 5 stars! Sooo romantic! Steamy kisses but clean romance. I borrowed this collection with Kindle Unlimited but after I read this story I had to purchase the whole collection outright! Meg bids on Jake, a ranch hand, at a fundraising auction. He is going to help her process grapes on her Dad's ranch for a week, a task which has been sadly neglected since the passing of Meg's mom. There is instant attraction between the two of them, but Meg has a long-time boyfriend and Jake is a player. She needs someone who will commit to her and that's not Jake... Is it?
I was given a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Although I don't read many western romances, this made me realized that I should really read more of these. I'm a big city girl myself, but there's just something about the country that has always appealed to me. (Minus the being 2 hours away from the nearest store, that's horrible.)
For the most part, I really liked this story. Especially Daisha. There's something about a woman who knows how to be feminine and can still get dirty that is just appealing. I also loved watching her try to prove herself.
There are some issues with grammar, but overall I enjoyed this story.
This was a sure way to fill those cowboy cravings. This is a novella collection and I read them in between my other books. It was flirty and fun and I always say there is just something about cowboys.
Content: a couple books had behind the doors sex (nothing descriptive), there was some mild swearing in a few of the books as well.
I love western romance so these stories were a nice escape. I liked some a lot more than others, but overall they were all cute and I appreciated that things were kept clean. My favorites were Holden's Heart and Ranch Hand for Auction.
I love the premise of Curling up with a Cowboy. Each story revolved around a handsome, no holds barred good guy. Each situation lent itself to some chemistry. Really well done!
I cannot speak for all of these short-stories; however, I can speak for the one by Liz Isaacson!
I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!
"Sixth Street Love Affair" is a wonderful story and is actually the first in this series that I was reading for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and new romance, it had the passion and a little bit of danger to keep readers on their toes and coming back for more. I can honestly say that I never expected this story to have come out of the quiet Garth and Juliette; however, I will not say anything more for I don't want to give anything away.
I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it's like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.
This was such a cute story. Cassidy had been through so much hurt and pain. When she is finally starting to get her live together Jace walks into her life...that is when they both start to live. Loved it! Great job!
Sixth Street Affair By Liz Isaacson
It's so hard to read stories about abuse. Especially in a book when you expect things to be all fairy tales and happy endings. I loved this story though. Juliette and Garth have such a great story. It makes for a better story when you are able to pull from real life events, even the painful ones, and make it into something you want to read about. It was a fun read and great addition to the set!
Ranch Hand For Auction by: Kimberly Krey
I loved this story. I especially loved the epilogue. Lately I've been reading novellas where 2 people meet and after a week they know they want to get married. In reality, it rarely works that quickly. That is why I was happy to read the epilogue and see that they took more time getting to know each other before getting married. I also appreciated that Jake paid attention to the little details because that is really the basis for a good relationship in my opinion. If you build off all the little important things it leads to bigger even better things. As always Kim did a great job and continues to impress me with her writing!
Lights, Cowboy, Action By Cindi Madsen
Kaia and Grady come from two different worlds. Ones a cowboy and one is practicall Hollywood royalty. It's hard to even imagine how that first conversation would go. This story paints a great picture of how that relationship would play out and I really felt like I could connect with the characters well. I was worried for a second it was gonna get a little steamy and I like to keep my books clean reads but in the end it was done tastefully and PG clean! It was a fun read and a great addition to the set!
Southern Kicks By Cassie Mae
This was a cute story. I don't read many written in the 3rd person. It was interesting that it jumped back and forth between the characters that way. I am definitely a city slicker I don't know that I could learn to live on a far if I had to. It was fun to read though. I love that Daisha wanted to do everything she could to make her husband happy and show him they could make things work!
Holden’s Heart By: Kelli Ann Morgan
I think this was my favorite novella of the set. Olivia and Holden just reminded me of my husband and I for some reason. They clicked from the start and had an unbreakable bond. I loved the setting and the story line of this book as well. It just seemed to flow and make for a great story.
Chasing Kisses By Jolene Betty Perry
This was a great ending to a wonderful set of books. Not many people are able to make a friend in their childhood they would want to spend their life with. I loved this sweet story of a childhood friendship that grew into something so much more!
This is a great set of clean romance and I enjoyed the whole thing!
*Review for Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae - I was provided a copy of this short story in exchange for an honest review*
-- I know that Austin knows I’m not exactly built for the country lifestyle; he fears it, really. So I’m trying to stifle any trepidation as he takes my hand and tours me around the house. I do pretty well until we hit the kitchen. “Where’s the dishwasher?” He scratches his clean-shaven chin—his telltale sign of bad news. “There isn’t one.”
Lol, that is probably the first thing that I would ask too, if I were to give up a city apartment to go live on a ranch. And that seems to be the first thing Daisha notices when Austin shows her the ranch house that they just moved to. When his father passed away, Austin was faced with the decision to either sell his fathers ranch that he worked so hard for, or give up his life and try to run the ranch.
Daisha is used to the finer things in life, and of course her Gucci heels. It was hilarious reading about her trying to do ranch work wearing stilettos. She was bound to make it work though, prove to her husband that she can do this. Especially since she feels her future depends it.
This was such a cute, quick read and I just love Cowboy Austin. Filled with humor, love and finding what truly matters to you most, Cassie weaves a hilarious tale of a Gucci loving, Stiletto wearing, City Girl who channels her inner ranch hand to make her new life into something worth fighting for! Even if she does fall in the pig trough. Lol!!
Sixth Street Love Affair by Liz Isaacson This story hits the ground running. The action is intense and the story moves at a fast pace. Liz Isaacson is a master composer of words, images and phrases, painting pictures with her words. In Sixth Street Love Affair, Juliette Thompson is a woman on the run. Desperately hoping to evade her abusive ex, she has changed her identity, her appearance, and relocates constantly. After ten years, she finds peace at Three Rivers and with Garth Ahlstrom. But Garth has his own painful past to overcome. Garth is truly Juliette’s hero, healing her heart and teaching her to trust and to allow herself to find love. Her fear of Brad discovering her location causes her shut Garth out. “She felt shattered inside, with pointed pieces that cut and sliced and hurt.” I loved Garth’s gentleness as he patiently waited for her to come to him, to learn to trust him. Juliette’s fear is tangible and raw emotions fill this story. “…she wondered if maybe, just maybe, Garth could be trusted with the blackest part of her life.” I found myself laughing, crying, and emotionally invested in this intense story. It is a quick read and I finished it in one afternoon. I am in love with the Three Rivers Ranch Series. Warning, this book novella contains violent scenes of physical, spousal abuse. • I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
Cupcakes and Cowboys by Lindzee Armstrong- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So cute! I loved the plot. Drew was despicable on every level humanely possible. And I really wanted Jace to give him what for and land a decent punch right in the face. Or even if Cassidy did it! Anyways, Jase.... Amazing! I loved his genuineness. Especially for a long time actor. Cassidy was cool and spunky. I really felt bad for what she went through. It was devastating. I loved the bakery! That is one of my favorite settings! I thought it was cool that the store was the name of the novella. And even right on down to the calm, sweet Cupcake, the mare.
Six Street Love Affair by Liz Isaacson- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a sweet story. I do sort of like the running away trope, it always intrigues me! I felt so bad for Juliette and what she went through. Garth was sweet. I'm glad he wasn't bitter or just gave up when she put him at a distance. Now the story didn't knock my socks off and the end was kind of fast but it was a nice read.
Ranch Hand for Auction by Kimberly Krey- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Aaah.... Kimberley Krey never disappoints! She is a master at the chemistry and swooniness between the main characters. Jake was adorable and sweet! He definitely made the story! I also loved the premise with the Concord grape juice making too. Usually in these Cowboy stories it's the standard ranching business so this was a neat change of scenery. Overall a cute, sweet dollop of a story to keep me entertained and tingly!
Cassidy is a struggling baker, who’s trying to move on with her life after being left at the altar by her ex-fiancée/actor Drew. Because of Drew’s arrogant attitude, Cassidy has come to dislike actors. She’s in for a surprise when Hollywood leading man, Jase comes to stay at the family ranch to research a role. Cassidy’s disdain for Jase doesn’t go unnoticed, believing he’s just like Drew, she steers clear of him. When Jase learns of Cassidy’s past, he sets out to prove that he’s not like her ex. Can Jase convince Cassidy he’s a good man or will the hurt Cassidy’s held onto keep her from finding true love?
Overall, Cowboys and Cupcakes was a cute story. I loved Cassidy and Jase’s stories. Your heart goes out to Cassidy the moment you learn of her past with Drew and the pain she still carries from that sad day. As for Jase, the description of him definitely makes you think of Hollywood actor. I liked his backstory of how he grew up in a showbiz family and was forced into acting by his mother. The lack of passion and the urge to find something new plays an important part in the story.
My only critique is the story was too short. If given the chance, I would love to see the author turn this into a full-length book. I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel to find out what happens to Jase and Cassidy.
I loved every story in this collection but picked only one to review or the review would go on forever. Ranch Hand for Auction written by Kimberly Krey, Meg Bolton and her dad bid on Jake a ranch hand up for Auction for charity. Meg is back home in Montana feeling like her life is on hold she started an online selling site for artist like herself to sell their work, her boyfriend is unwilling commit so she is home to harvest grapes for making juice with the help of Jake. They work together and begin a friendship which begins to turn into more as they pick the grapes, I don't want to say more and give away the story but they do get their happily ever after
I was sent an ARC of Cupcakes and Cowboys by Lindzee Armstrong for my honest opinion. First off, being from West Virginia and loving to bake, I instantly fell in love with the name of the book. I mean who doesn't love cowboys and who doesn't love cupcakes? As I read the book, I fell in love with the story and the characters, too. A small town girl is left at the altar by her Hollywood star fiancee. When a hot, new Hollywood star comes to her ranch to do research for his latest part, Cassidy must decide if she can let go of the past and let someone in, or if her ex-fiancee has scarred her for life when it comes to dating actors. Yet another great, clean read by Lindzee.
I always enjoy anthologies such as this, I find great new authors this way! Besides, this anthology is about cowboys and romance so what's not to like? This review in particular is for Cupcakes and Cowboys by Lindzee Armstrong.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters were charming and endearing. There's plenty of heartache but that all needs to happen so something good can come from it. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this manuscript from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Cupcakes and Cowboys was a very fun read. I fell in love with the characters right away. Normally I don't read as many short stories, but this was perfect. Life gets busy and I haven't read for a while, even though I love to. I read this book in 1 1/2 hours and it was just what I needed to remind me how much I need to put books more in my life. I would highly recommend this book and will look forward to more books by Lindzee Armstrong.
*I received an ARC of Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae in exchange for an honest review.*

Once Again Cassie you delight me with you words thanks!!!
Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae is a fantastic short read. I couldn't put it down and loved every word of it! Austin is dreamy and even though he's going through a hard time, I can't help but want my own cowboy and ranch after reading about him. Daisha is super cute and relatable, and her love of horses (and perhaps even her clumsiness) is mutual. :) This is definitely a great read and I highly recommend it!
I received an ARC of Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved this story. Austin and Daisha are such a cute couple that just really needed to talk to each other a little more. I knew that with a little work Daisha would be the perfect country girl and would finally fit in. Well worth the read and I think I will read the full Anthology ASAP
*I received an ARC of Southern Kicks by Cassie Mae in exchange for an honest review.*
Southern Kicks is a story that I absolutely loved to infinity and beyond. Daisha and Austin are an adorable couple and it was cool to see the both of them adjust to country life. Lastly, I couldn't stop reading till I was finished because it was just that good.
*southern kicks by cassie mae. i have recieved a copy for an honest review*
i have always loved cassie's books but i think that is is one of my new favorites. i love they way she makes me laugh my ass off in her books. Daisha is used to city life but when her and her husband have to take over his dad's ranch, she is up to give it a shot. even if she is wearing the wrong shoes.
I really enjoyed "Sixth Street Love Affair"! Liz Isaacson fleshes out Garth Ahlstrom's character and gives him a second chance at love. Engaging story and the perfect one to tell via novella/short story. Another winner in the Three Rivers Ranch series!
I loved Cassie Mae's contribution to this anthology!! Southern Kicks was fun and a good, quick read! I loved Austin and Daisha's relationship and wish that there was more to the story or that it could have been fleshed out more!
I loved reading "Cowboys and Cupcakes" by Lindzee Armstrong. This was a sweet and short, charming and clean love story. I really enjoyed it! Now I need to go eat a cupcake :)
