Interesante propuesta. Con una estética de collage, este libro busca acercar a los niños a los museos, mostrando sus diferentes tipos (histórico, ciencias naturales, arte, etc.) y el tipo de piezas que contienen. El texto es acotado y las imágenes no están “rotuladas”, por lo que, si se muestran diferentes tipos de aves, no sé sabe cuales son. Sin embargo, este minimalismo de palabras funciona bien, incentivando al deseo de conocer.
Por último, plasma la idea presentada en el título con la imagen de una habitación, a interpretarse como que cada persona también guarda una colección de objetos que lo conforman.

Author/illustrator Emma Lewis has created a picture book about a little girl dreaming about and visiting museums! The visits the entire city to find different types of museums: ancient artifacts, natural history, and a garden museum as examples. But the best museum is the one created at home! At the end of the book, there are pages for the reader to write about and draw their own museums. The illustrations are paper cut, photographs, and painted designs with colorful results. Originally published through the Tate Gallery in London. As Picasso has said, "Give me a museum and I will fill it!" This books will be enjoyed by preK-2nd graders.

Che luoghi meravigliosi i musei! No? Pensate siano noiosi, pieni di cose polverose che non interessano più a nessuno? Beh, vi sbagliate. Ci sono musei e musei, di tutti i tipi e per tutte le persone e, di sicuro, fra questi troverete quello giusto per voi, che magari è proprio vicinissimo e voi manco lo sapete! Come fare? Sfogliando, per esempio, lo splendido albo pubblicato da Edizioni Clichy: Il museo delle mie cose di Emma Lewis, illustratrice londinese al suo primo libro per bambini che ha vinto il Premio Opera Prima del Bologna Ragazzi Award 2017 in occasione della Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
La bambina protagonista di questa storia ha sentito parlare dei musei come di luoghi dove si conservano cose vecchissime ma, camminando per la sua città e visitando i musei che trova sul suo cammino, la piccola si accorge ben presto che non tutti i musei contengono antichissimi manufatti, come nel museo di Arte Antica! Per esempio, nel Museo di Storia Naturale ci sono insetti enormi e animali stranissimi provenienti da luoghi molti diversi del mondo, nel Museo di Astronomia ci sono oggetti moderni di ogni tipo!
Un’altra scoperta sensazionale è che non tutti i musei si trovano in grandi edifici, ad esempio ci sono musei che si trovano all’aperto, come i musei-giardino, dove sono conservate specie preziose di piante e vegetali, palme appuntite e foglie e fiori con la corolla gigantesca.
E infine, sapete qual è il museo più conosciuto di tutti e l’ultimo che la bambina visiterà? La sua stanza (ed è valido per tutti!). La propria stanza è il Museo delle Cose Preferite: giocattoli, vestiti, libri, insomma tutti gli oggetti che amiamo di più! Ricordo che da bambina adoravo trasformare la mia stanza in un museo da far visitare ai miei genitori: con una delicatezza incredibile Emma Lewis è riuscita a cogliere suggestioni infantili e a trasformarle in una storia colorata, dinamica e con un profondo significato per tutti.
Alla fine del libro, i bambini potranno giocare, scrivendo e rispondendo a domande come “Cosa ti piacerebbe collezionare?” o “Cosa è esposto nel tuo museo?”.

Ενα υπέροχο εικονογραφημένο βιβλίο για τους λάτρεις των μουσείων, μικρούς και μεγάλους, που αν και εκδόθηκε στη Βρετανία το 2017 και μεταφράστηκε στα ελληνικά το 2019, λειτουργεί -ειδικά σήμερα- σαν υπενθύμιση ότι κάποια στιγμή, όταν όλα αυτά που ζούμε σήμερα τελειώσουν, θα μπορέσουμε να επισκεφτούμε και πάλι με ασφάλεια τους χώρους που τόσο μας έχουν λείψει.

interesting execution. didn't really work for me (also the passivity of the whole "odd artifacts from thousands of miles away!" thing made me blink). i liked the pages at the back where the reader can write or draw if they so choose.

The best children book I have ever read. My niece, 10 years old, loved it too. It taught us to value things we have and keep them to make glory of our own besides the beautiful way she helped us to know what is museum and what we find there.

It is not my personal favourite children's book narratively. But I do think that its themes and potential to develop literacy skills with children are very strong, and for that reason I gave it four stars and plan to go get my own copy.

An unusual introduction to museums, especially the Smithsonian. Simple text is direct and clear, and brings the reader to a fun ending that helps youngsters realize they may reside within their own museum! Could prompt discussion of what people save and why.
